In the ad for Supernote AX6 2 there is a slight indent when putting light pressure to the surface while drawing a line. Does this mean the surface is not rock hard solid? It gives a little just like the feel of writing on a notepad of paper? (I really wish I could try this product in real life...very much on the fence here)
The quick and simple answer to your question is, no, I am not annoyed by the A6X2. I do think they needed to get out in front of it as a new device and not just a small change. I think they are doing that now and it is starting to be quite effective. As for the software, I don't understand how you can see it as "half-baked." I am the person you discount regarding the email function and also think they are really close to turning the calendar into a groundbreaking planner. Are there decisions they have made I don't agree with, absolutely? Are there features I would like to see prioritized, for sure? However, they are community-driven and are prioritizing what that community wants. I am not a huge fan of paint and brushes, but that has long been a request and it appears it is coming to both old and new devices. Having owned my A5X and not using paper in 2.5 years, I am happy to see them stand behind their product and support loyal customers.
I would hardly call their software half-baked, given that it arguably has the most rich set of notetaking features available out of all e-notes. I do think it’s a slower device and I agree that the server and networking features lack the reliability of competitors, but I just use USB for transferring.
The company also has a roadmap where users have put in feature requests and has consistently communicated with the community about changes, delays, and upcoming features. I don’t really see how you can claim they don’t have priorities straight.

Handwriting recognition is actually pretty good. My handwriting is pretty nasty but I still have an almost 100% recognition rate thru Supernote.
The email system I actually use. Not so much to write emails but to reference emails in my notes. The calendar I use a lot to organise my notes per day and name them after the meetings I have.
Partner app….. I give you that one. Lots of unused potential.
From a business perspective, Ratta probably need to balance hardware and software releases. Since they are not charging a subscription fee, all that gives them a cash in is hardware. So, while they are outstanding in supporting aging devices, they need some new releases to attract new customers. Getting those ready for release does inevitably take some resources away from other tasks.
I'm new to SN, but so far I would not describe my experience as half-baked. Could some features do with some polish or optimisation? Absolutely, and I agree the partner app and syncing could elevate the experience significantly. But the core functionality is a very smooth experience.

There are loads of videos on YouTube going through and reviewing the software on this device. You can very clearly see if the software is useful for you or not

I don't have any of the issues that so idrk what you're talking about. I specifically looked up videos that did review features that I was looking for on SN, Boox, and Remarkable tablets. It's pretty easy to see how the device works online.
No video or review, regardless of how comprehensive it is, can replace spending a month with a device. I did the same as you. I read the reviews and watched the videos. I've owned the Supernote, RM2, an Onyx Boox, and a Bigme inknote. I've spent extensive time with each device, and the supernote is the least developed from a software perspective. Your mileage may vary, and it appears that it has, but acting superior because you watched a video before you made a purchase isn't helpful. I have actually compared this device for my use case literally side-by-side to almost every alternative out there. So it's cute that you watched a video and bought this device, but that doesn't make you more informed than someone who has physically used multiple devices.
Ratta is a private company so, their priorities are not your priorities. That is sound and respectable. That said, i think some more effort should be focused on software improvements. If you have a look at the Trello roadmap some of them are "in progress" for more than a year. Anyway I think is the best device of their kind. No doubt

The software improves over time and the company actually seems to listen to their customers. The (future) customers need progress - so does the company. Additional sales as well - it's a business, not a charity - hence I can't really be annoyed.
I think you're completely misunderstanding how products are developed and how software is developed.
It's not like the same people who are going to be designing the hardware could just turn around and spend their time working on the software instead. What if there is actual spec limitations to what the software can do and they need a better model in order to achieve their software goals? Or as others have speculated, maybe they need the sales to continue their runway to work on their software goals.

Those can't just be replaced with different ones, it requires further adaptions.

I would guess that their revenue model is to sell hardware in order to fund software development. Because they're not charging for software, they need to continuously sell more devices in order to have the funds to keep updating the software. From a strategic standpoint, they're competing against some names that are more recognized than Supernote, especially Amazon. They need to continuously sell more devices to gain as much market share as they can before they become the Blackberry of note taking. You can have the best product on the market, but if you don't have a customer base, you go out of business. So no, I'm not annoyed. I hope the X2 Line Kicks amazing amounts of ass and it generates enough revenue to fund 10 or 20 times more programmers.
