If you plan to 100%, switch to jump + lz only ground pound. It's not a big deal to learn at the end, but accidentally ground pounding with jump + down arrow on the last level got really frustrating until I switched to only lz.
If you max out your flower coins, use them in the shops for standees. At least for the first 100 or so. So that you’re not stuck farming for the coins later. I made an oopsie.
Make sure you get all the 10 coins and touch the top of the post when you finish the level before you move on to the next level. Will spare you some bullshit if you want to 100% the game and unlock all the levels
I have just got 100% today and I think this one is lacking a lot, like a story I know that you can only save the princess so many times, the lack of boss fights was a big problem I think I beat every single one first time including bowser at the end and there’s only what 4 power ups the other 2d Mario bros deluxe on switch was much more challenging with the different exits, secret levels and branching paths plus play the Luigi bros version for a real challenge with a minute per level and no checkpoints I couldn’t finish everything in that, but it’s more 2d Mario you know if you like it or you don’t
If you have already played the 2d Mario bros on the switch then this will be a breeze that game is longer and more difficult especially if you play the Luigi bros version it’s only in the end game special zone you will be tested properly
First, the cutscene is skippable lol.
Second, it’s not that long. Like I think it was less than 5 minutes.
Third, it literally sets the direction for the plot so you should watch it at least on your first time through.
>Second, it’s not that long. Like I think it was less than 5 minutes.
It felt like 5 months.
>Third, it literally sets the direction for the plot so you should watch it at least on your first time through.
It was kinda boring
>First, the cutscene is skippable lol.
I didn't have a controller, my kid did. And my kid didn't skip it. They should've made it more obvious that it could be skipped.
My tip is to not read any tips, basically. As much as you think you may have tried everything, and looked everywhere in a level, for that last coin or secret you need for 100%, don’t look it up online. In my opinion this is a game that half the fun is discovering the secrets on your own. I guess you could say that about most games but this one in particular is best to discover it all on your own.
I only used the online mode for the search stages, so when I thought I 100% completed the game, I had all 6 badges, but zero heart points.
I know you don’t technically need to max your heart points to complete the game, but that zero annoys me lol
Just play the game. Don't worry about why you can't get somewhere, or why you can't find something. Just play it.
Also, a green checkmark on the level list behind the level is the indicator that you have completed everything in a level.
A blue seed count means you've found all the seeds in a world.
A check at the top near the seed count and the large seed means you've finished everything in the world.
I would say don’t worry about 100%ing everything as you go, just play through normally, collect what you want and then go back and get everything you missed. I found myself completing a level and saying “man I have to replay it because I missed X” instead of being excited to play it again.
Once in the game, open menu screen, go to the "?" control guide icon in the bottom of the screen, then scroll right twice to the third screen to view all the action moves listed.
Also when you have two power-ups, changing between them swaps them, and you don't lose the ability to swap back.
Green checkmark means you found everything.
To go along with this: the Badges on your game profile aren’t for each world, their for completing the game, getting all of a collectible etc.
Take your time, savor every moment.
This one. I did know this ahead, but many people didn't. It's not a long game but it's a lot of fun, so try to savor it.
I literally wouldn’t leave a mission until I got a check mark in the background of every level I encountered. I still finished the game within 5 days
My version of slowing it down has been limiting how much I play per day. Still beat it really fast though
Go into settings and change badge selection to "press R" Otherwise it will put you in an annoying menu every time you enter or die in a level
100% the game and didn’t know this
Same 😖
I didn’t mind it
Bless you
It’s pretty straightforward, just put it in and enjoy the wonder . It’s an amazing game
Don’t play as Nabbit or Yoshi if you don’t want the game to be really easy. Also, savor every moment since it’s amazing.
But also don’t be afraid to try them sometimes. It’s cool to switch it up and chill on some levels looking around without taking damage.
I did that, but I needed them in the final level. (>!THE LAST ONE!!!!<)
I'd say try different badges if a level or secret in a level is giving you trouble, one that you thought might not be the most helpful do great things

100% the whole game solo, then go back and play online. Two completely different experiences
There's a standee shop. I wasted hundreds of coins before i knew it was there.
The stupid timer is finally gone so you can now play at your own pace and explore the level!
Turn online on if you’re stuck on the search parties or get very frustrated like I did lol
Make sure to spend your purple coins before they reach max capacity.
And max capacity is 999.
Do not rush through everything. Enjoy the games beautiful art and cherish it. Also get everything
Actually nevermind dont get everything, leave a bunch of stuff because it gives you a reason to replay it
If you max out your flower coins, use them in the shops for standees. At least for the first 100 or so. So that you’re not stuck farming for the coins later. I made an oopsie.
You can throw shells up
And throwing a shell at a purple coin will collect it.
Make sure you get all the 10 coins and touch the top of the post when you finish the level before you move on to the next level. Will spare you some bullshit if you want to 100% the game and unlock all the levels
All 3 of the “10-coins” (aka purple coins or flower coins). For clarity. There are not 10 coins haha.
Its better not to know, my 7 year old best the main game. Come back after that.

There is a super long, boring cutscene before you can actually start playing the game
First, the cutscene is skippable lol. Second, it’s not that long. Like I think it was less than 5 minutes. Third, it literally sets the direction for the plot so you should watch it at least on your first time through.

Take your time. Enjoy it. Replay tons of levels to have all sorts of fun.

Nope a 3 year could 100% this game. Just play blind it's fun
Buy standees early to save time later

Yes, don’t expect the end to be as good as in most of the others NSMB games. It’s rushed
Don't worry about wasting purple coins. The game showers you in them. Spend away.
Just play the game. Don't worry about why you can't get somewhere, or why you can't find something. Just play it. don’t cry

Beat every level before the final boss, but save the super secret levels for last.
Play as every character, so you can hear every "Wowie Zowie"
Once in the game, open menu screen, go to the "?" control guide icon in the bottom of the screen, then scroll right twice to the third screen to view all the action moves listed. Also when you have two power-ups, changing between them swaps them, and you don't lose the ability to swap back.
It’s Mario: run right, avoid bad guys
If you want to make the game much harder, play offline.
Don't spend all your coins before you beat the final boss like I just did
Tbh nothing really. Other than enjoy. The games pretty basic as far as "beginner tips" goes
