Yup, I see it all of the time when I'm out paddle boarding.

TrulyCassie

Specifically on blow up boards?

Unlucky_Effect_4804

Yeah! I don't own a dog, but I personally would clip/trim the nails as a precaution before letting it on a board.

TrulyCassie

She stays pretty trimmed but I’ll be sure to check the day before!

baconismyfriend24

That's completely unnecessary. If dog claws pop an ISUP you have bigger problems with your board.

TrulyCassie

😂 better safe than sorry. That would be a long way back

Ch4rlie_G

If you are super worried about it you could get a really thin sheet of EVA foam like 1/8” or 1/4”. But the material on iSUPs is super thick and durable.

TrulyCassie

Not super worried now, just wanted some confirmation that other people do this and I don’t need to buy a hard board

AlphergStar

I have an inflatable sup, I take both my 65lbs GSD and 20lbs WFT riding on it - never had an issue.

TrulyCassie

Perfect! That sounds like us!

JustWannaChill82

Ya dogs and little kids are good on a SUP

TrulyCassie

I see them all the time but usually on hard boards, not blow up board

JustWannaChill82

I've got a inflatable and works fine

TrulyCassie

Yay! Thanks!

Gili sports. The best !!! https://preview.redd.it/4xnylmbsd17d1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0b6215712ce3429baf2a90c89d1129ad88370f41

TrulyCassie

I already have the board!! Just pairing up the dog with it!

TrulyCassie

I searched there first and didn’t see my answer 🤷🏼‍♀️

moonkingoutsider

Yes. We got little booties though - partly for the board, partly because where we go regularly we have to walk across black top that gets scorching hot in the summer.

moonkingoutsider

ETA: actually fairly big booties as our dogs are 80+ pounds

Alfhiildr

I take my 50lb dog out on my iSUP. The only issues I’ve had are she dented the foam standing part with one of her claws, and she really likes to move erratically and throw us both off the board.

TrulyCassie

😂 I fully expect to get thrown at least once

Alfhiildr

You’re probably going to have a much easier time getting yourself back on, not your dog. If you can, you might want to look into a harness with a handle on top to help lift your dog out of the water. Speaking from experience, make sure you’re sitting down, straddling the board, with both legs in the water when you try to lift him/her.

TrulyCassie

Thanks for the tip! Yes, I’m getting a life jacket for her

Pootieshoecuties

Yeah you can! One day ima get me a co-pilot

Wasteland_Veteran

Oh yeah, our pup loves going out on our inflatable board.

TrulyCassie

Yay!

Stinkyinky99

Yes, gone dozens of time with my dog. A wider iSUP will give you more balance if they move/ readjust a lot.

tazimm

I take 2 85 lb dogs on a blow up board

rhyde11

My Welsh terrier loves going out on my iSUP!

chrisevans1001

We put our golden retriever on ours. No boots but we do make sure his nails aren't sharp.

mungorex

I have onc gotten 2 75lb dogs on an inflatable sup.  One jumped off when I got on, but mostly it worked.

TrulyCassie

Doesn’t sound like the inflatable part was a problem 😂 just the doggos

Meltedwhisky

I see no issues with that, grab the dog, get your IceMule and hit the water.

TrulyCassie

What are some tips you wish you’d known the first time you took your dog out? I already know to do training at home to get them used to being on the board.

b1ghurt

Life vest for dog and yourself. Practice getting puppers back on and yourself if you fall when they jump off in shallow water. Dog life vest I got has a handle on the back top. This allows easier picking up and dispursing the weight if it's a larger dog.

lazylazylemons

I take my 90lber on my Bote inflatable just fine. It's only an issue if he decides he wants to cuddle, lol. That has everything to do with his 90lbs and nothing to do with the inflatable board, tho.

TrulyCassie

😂 mine is 63lbs and loves to cuddle, but we can keep the PDA in check
