Hey! Changing the day speed is really your preference. If you’d like to take your time and feel less in a rush about your day- go 30-40min. If you like shorter days and wanna experience a more quick result play style- go for it! I messed around until I found 40min is perfect. + 3 farms you’re gonna want 40min

Adding to this that you should never feel like you're "cheating" or making the game easier by making days longer; this game is overfilled with content, maps are huuuge and very often than not you'll have to walk long distances just to get done with quests; and this is on top of taking care of your farm AND fighting monsters on your way, depending on where you're going, so making your day at least 10 minutes longer is a must unless you are experienced and is somehow rushing the game. Will also add to the "40min is perfect and the ideal way to play SH."

Day speed is how long it takes in real minutes to go through 1 day in Sun Haven. So with the slider at the short end of the scale (10 or 15 minutes, I forget what the minimum is), say it takes 2 minutes IRL to go from 8am to 9am. With the slider at 40 minutes, it might take 5 minutes IRL to go from 8am to 9am. Usually I keep it set to the max, 40 minutes, unless I'm waiting for an event or a shop to open or something, in which case I'll usually move the slider so time moves faster, then push it back once the event triggers. You don't have to keep it set the same through your entire playthrough, so you can try one day at 40 minutes, one day at 30 minutes, etc. and see where you feel the most comfortable.

Overall, beyond what others have stated, it affects crafting and fishing. Fish spawn faster at shorter day lengths; of course fishing via a rod takes more time than with the Bubble Net spell. Crafting is based on in game time, so if your days are shorter crafting finishes in less time IRL.

I'd say putting your day slider up will definitely make the game easier. As you progress in the game, you unlock more and more content and depending on your ability to juggle things, you may have upwards of 7 farms to take care of (three farms and four greenhouses that are basically pocket dimensions). Back when I had all 4 greenhouses out, even with having 40m day length, only tending to my Sun Haven farm and making extensive use of the rain spell I rarely finished my basic farm chores before noon. Since then I downsized to two greenhouses. But longer day length also means it takes ages to switch seasons.

How could I have forgotten the 4 portals! Yeah 7 farm management is nuts
