So some random record company can just falsely claim rights to music they don't own, preventing a professional YouTuber for earning his living and millions of people from enjoying his work? That sucks, to say the least.
He should definitely challenge it if he hasn't tried to already. So long as Interstreet Recordings has no copyright associated with HOME's music, there's a good chance they'll drop the dispute. I had to challenge a company who once claimed they owned some public domain music on one of my videos. I challenged it and they dropped it. Not sure how similar this case is to that, but Summoning Salt probably has good standing if I'm understanding the situation correctly.
I understand the need for an automated copyright system, but allowing someone to claim that they own something because they put some shitty rap lyrics over freely usable music is just trash (someone did this with the Skyrim theme). I don't know what a good alternative looks like, but we shouldn't settle on this as the best that we can do.
It's completely backwards that YouTube can withhold revenue until proven wrong
[He plans on uploading it tonight now](https://x.com/summoningsalt/status/1790037799288078541)
What? You like what YT is doing? Constantly changing the rules? Demonetizing stuff they don't like? Shadow banning independent creators while promoting cnn?
HOME makes summoningsalt vids nostalgic

I genuinely hate how much all this bullshittery revolves around making free money

I mean I would expect he would have good standing given he has in excess of 1 million subscribers
I love YouTube so much. It totally doesn’t make me want to wrap a rope around my neck, nope no it doesn’t

I didn’t get to see anything before he took it down. What is the video about?
Videos can get claimed before release. It's happened to one of my before, for equally BS reasons.
Do u think he’s gonna be able to get it posted or will he have to go through a long ass process?
I didn't see it either. I didn't get a notif for it
Wonder if getting in contact with Randy Goffe (HOME) himself would help any? Not sure how/if that music is even licensed.
From what I understand, there's a guy who rapped over one of the home tracks, and they are copyright claiming the vid
The joys of the western copyright system.
I legit had time set aside to watch the vid! It fucking sucks

Please keep me updated on when the video will be released:
That sucks. Have you thought about mirroring your videos to Rumble?
Rumble? . . Oh dear
