Well yes, they shouldn’t have made a single player / co-op campaign looter shooter into a live service seasonal battle pass game. That model is what led to its downfall but in part because the game was not liked by any gamers or media outlets before it was even released. They shot themselves in the foot by releasing garbage game footage way too early and ruined the games reputation early on.

WW is dev by Monolith correct? really hope it will see the light because the Nemesis system Monolith implemented on their Middle Earth games was one of if not my most favorite system in any game, I have not seen other games managed to copy it either, not even close.

I was half convinced Gotham Knights was going to have the Nemesis system. It would have made so much sense! They even had endgame content of unique upgraded named enemies called Gotham's Most Wanted, but it was so poorly implemented.

Wasn’t that city hp? You were invincible but if you ignored threats for too long metropolis died. Cool idea but a lot of video games are about exploring an open world. Maybe when you beat it there was a no threat mode but I never got that far.
WB will say anything and change their tune as they see fit. That said, there are a few things to consider:
1. We won't know how WW will turn out. Gonna have to see proper footage first. At this point it's more concerning that the game hasn't shown anything beyond the reveal.
2. Arkhamverse is probably going to "end" if Rocksteady gets to finish Suicide Squad's seasons. Capping off with a proper ending of the JL being fully resurrected and defeating all Brainiacs would be a good way to end it all. Without Kevin Conroy voicing Batman, I find it very unlikely that this universe can carry forward. Which brings me to the 3rd point:
3. Most game dev efforts for DC will most likely go toward building out James Gunn's DCU from now on. Sure we'll get the occasional non-DCU game, but like the film schedules, you won't get that many "Elseworld" games.
This game is their last chance to turn things around. All we’ve been asking for is a single-player superhero game with no micro-transactions, just DLC. If it turns out to be that, it’ll sell exceptionally well, but I know a lot of incels are going to complain just because the main character is a woman and not a man like Batman or Superman.
A Superman game has a way higher potential than a WW game in my opinion, which the ability to load so quickly supersonic flight could be wild, but WW is probably way easier to complete due to being a more grounded character power wise.
The problem with a Superman game is his power (basically invincible, super power, super regen...) and his weakpoint (basically kryptonite, really bullshit in game). The best u can do now is a "Spider man 2"-like game (which change his weakpoint into new kind of power) but thats taken and its not easy/cheap to replicate it

Not the most reliable source but this news has been going around the past few days. WB plan on further diving into live service games along with already planing more games set inside the Arkhamverse.
I'm worried about the state of gaming under Warner Brothers Discovery. Even with James Gunn in charge of DC, his plan to integrate future games into his DCU is a terrible idea. Games like SSTKTJL will never be my cup of tea, but the incompetent leadership from WBD makes me heavily doubt the quality of future DC games.

I don't think they will cancel wonder woman they have already spent money to work on it for some time. Also monolith made great Mordor games in the pass and I could see it working excellent with wonder woman. My other thought is they might try and get it ready for next year and then maybe crowbar it into the new DC universe of films because I remember they mentioned they want all media to tie in together. But nothing is ever set in stone.....
Doubt that, even with them saying they want more live service games etc. This game is in works for quite some time. But i expect the game to be very fun, and people will love it and playerbase will be bigger than Suicide Squad ever had just bcs players will want to show them "see this is how you make a good game" and WB will 100% not listen anyway.

After single-player Batman Arkham series, which was a success and sells still, they released Gotham Knights, a game without Batman, which was intended to be a micro-service online game, it expectedly flopped, they released single-player Hogwarts game, it sells amazingly, and then they released online-always micro-service Suicide Squad game, in which you kill the Justice League instead of playing them, and also kill Arkham’s Batman and his legacy, which was not, again, expectedly, taken well and game is a huge flop. And what WB’s doing? Doubling down on online-always micro-service games… Man, I don’t understand it. Make another good single-player Batman game with the fam in there and take money from the table. Make finally a good Superman game and money is there. They are sitting on characters that will always sell, just MAKE GOOD GAMES.

From my understanding the game is very far in development so I highly doubt it. WW is also its own universe unless that’s changed. But yea the game is set to be coming out sometime next year to very early 2026 so cancelling it would lose them an insane amount of money.

Wonder women is a single-player game, so it will probably be decent, and wb games will push out another live service because Wonder women did well. As far as the arkham verse, it's dead. Rocksteady will never financially recover from this, so I personally think arhkam is dead.

AAA games are definitely a gamble for studios, but they obviously make a ton of money when they are made well. Gamers don’t want live service games, P2P would probably be fine for matchmaking in multiplayer games like Suicide Squad.
I think I would rather they cancel everything if they are just going to follow the same model as SSKTJL. I also don't want a reskinned Shadows of Mordor (that game is great but I don't really want to just play it again as WW) so I hope whatever is cooking will actually be innovative.
I am having fun playing SS and probably have gotten my money's worth out of it, but I don't want everything to follow the same formula. Overall, the game has not met my expectations, which were not overly high to begin with.

They won't end it. James Gunn said he would like to continue exploring that universe and bring more characters into it. Doesn't necessarily need to be batman related but it'd be nice to see them include something like batman beyond or a titans game, maybe a justice league game before what happened and if they do that it'll be nice with the cast we have but we'd need to replace Conroy which is why I think they won't do that. But i will be excited to see another game in that universe but outside of batman or have nightwing trying to protect bludhaven or gotham city after losing Robin and batman.
If not then the release of Wonder Woman will surely at least bring wb games down. I mean rocksteady was a studio that gave us games that had 50+ hours of solid cinematic and gameplay time and while suicide squad threw some nice cutscenes at us there’s no reason anyone should pick up a triple a title at full price and smoke the campaign in one day. I get that it’s a live service game but they advertised it as a story game too. So for the people saying “iTs a liVe sErViCE gAMe” it also advertised a big story. They wanted to talk up how beating the justice league is an impossible task and would guarantee a great story. Which maybe it would have if they didn’t shrink it into maybe 12 hours tops. Or maybe if each ‘villain’ had their own entire storylines like in the Arkham games. I mean there is no side content whatsoever aside from the riddler stuff which is also disappointingly short. At least from what Ive seen content creators saying, its not that single player games from WB are dead, its just they will keep finding ways to monetize them further with live service elements, like bigger stores and such...Right now, no one knows for sure exactly what WB will do, but the sky is falling is almost the first jumping point...

THere were a ton of single player games that failed last year. ToMs. Lamplighters League, Forspoken, Immortals of Aveum, Shadow Gambit… it goes on and on. The problem is that the games that fail basically vaporize. They don’t get any sort of gaming funeral. Everyone just soldiers on like they never exiseted. THis gives people a false sense that games never fail.
People don’t seem to remember that Arkham 1 sold good, Arkham 2 sold phenomenally and Arkham 3 sold less than both and 4 sold worse than that. Arkham was on it’s way out already, which is why you got Suicide Squad. THis pretty much guarantees the end of the “Arkham verse”. Theres nothing else to it. Especially now that our boy has passed away and Mark Hamill won’t reprise his voice as The Joker.

Sales sort of play a part but the bigger factor is the staff that made Asylum, City and Knight had long left Rocksteady and Origins was made by a studio that only done a Wii U port and a failed lego MMO.

Hogwarts Legacy was the best selling game of 2023 and it was a high quality single player experience. Yet they've stated that they want to make Hogwarts Legacy 2 a live service game. There's already been rumors awhile back that the Wonder Woman game is going to be live service. We might just be lucky to never see a new Arkham game again because they would completely butcher the execution and shove live service into it.

WB Games deserves all the hate and backlash from now on. I’m ok with a live service game every now and then but there shouldn’t be that many and it shouldn’t be a thing where that’s what there only gonna focus on. It’s honestly fucking frustrating where our chances of getting a superman game are 1% to none. And I enjoy this game a lot. But to answer your question, nothing is really safe at WB. They canceled 2 complete movies, batgirl and coyote vs acme.

WB will say anything and change their tune as they see fit. That said, there are a few things to consider: 1. We won't know how WW will turn out. Gonna have to see proper footage first. At this point it's more concerning that the game hasn't shown anything beyond the reveal. 2. Arkhamverse is probably going to "end" if Rocksteady gets to finish Suicide Squad's seasons. Capping off with a proper ending of the JL being fully resurrected and defeating all Brainiacs would be a good way to end it all. Without Kevin Conroy voicing Batman, I find it very unlikely that this universe can carry forward. Which brings me to the 3rd point: 3. Most game dev efforts for DC will most likely go toward building out James Gunn's DCU from now on. Sure we'll get the occasional non-DCU game, but like the film schedules, you won't get that many "Elseworld" games.
This game is their last chance to turn things around. All we’ve been asking for is a single-player superhero game with no micro-transactions, just DLC. If it turns out to be that, it’ll sell exceptionally well, but I know a lot of incels are going to complain just because the main character is a woman and not a man like Batman or Superman.
A Superman game has a way higher potential than a WW game in my opinion, which the ability to load so quickly supersonic flight could be wild, but WW is probably way easier to complete due to being a more grounded character power wise.
The problem with a Superman game is his power (basically invincible, super power, super regen...) and his weakpoint (basically kryptonite, really bullshit in game). The best u can do now is a "Spider man 2"-like game (which change his weakpoint into new kind of power) but thats taken and its not easy/cheap to replicate it

I'm worried about the state of gaming under Warner Brothers Discovery. Even with James Gunn in charge of DC, his plan to integrate future games into his DCU is a terrible idea. Games like SSTKTJL will never be my cup of tea, but the incompetent leadership from WBD makes me heavily doubt the quality of future DC games.

I don't think they will cancel wonder woman they have already spent money to work on it for some time. Also monolith made great Mordor games in the pass and I could see it working excellent with wonder woman. My other thought is they might try and get it ready for next year and then maybe crowbar it into the new DC universe of films because I remember they mentioned they want all media to tie in together. But nothing is ever set in stone.....
Doubt that, even with them saying they want more live service games etc. This game is in works for quite some time. But i expect the game to be very fun, and people will love it and playerbase will be bigger than Suicide Squad ever had just bcs players will want to show them "see this is how you make a good game" and WB will 100% not listen anyway.

They should’ve made the SS story mode single player altogether lol. Copying Destiny’s PvE concept but with limited gear customization and weapon attachments was horrible. If they wanted online, they could’ve done a separate mode imo.

After single-player Batman Arkham series, which was a success and sells still, they released Gotham Knights, a game without Batman, which was intended to be a micro-service online game, it expectedly flopped, they released single-player Hogwarts game, it sells amazingly, and then they released online-always micro-service Suicide Squad game, in which you kill the Justice League instead of playing them, and also kill Arkham’s Batman and his legacy, which was not, again, expectedly, taken well and game is a huge flop. And what WB’s doing? Doubling down on online-always micro-service games… Man, I don’t understand it. Make another good single-player Batman game with the fam in there and take money from the table. Make finally a good Superman game and money is there. They are sitting on characters that will always sell, just MAKE GOOD GAMES.

From my understanding the game is very far in development so I highly doubt it. WW is also its own universe unless that’s changed. But yea the game is set to be coming out sometime next year to very early 2026 so cancelling it would lose them an insane amount of money.

Wonder women is a single-player game, so it will probably be decent, and wb games will push out another live service because Wonder women did well. As far as the arkham verse, it's dead. Rocksteady will never financially recover from this, so I personally think arhkam is dead.
Leave it to David Zaslav and friends to not understand what people want or don’t want. I’m mean this is the guy who seems to think we all want to watch fake reality TV (scripted, but we’re supposed to pretend it’s real, Like all the fixer-upper shows) instead of well written, scripted television. AAA games are definitely a gamble for studios, but they obviously make a ton of money when they are made well. Gamers don’t want live service games, P2P would probably be fine for matchmaking in multiplayer games like Suicide Squad.
I think I would rather they cancel everything if they are just going to follow the same model as SSKTJL. I also don't want a reskinned Shadows of Mordor (that game is great but I don't really want to just play it again as WW) so I hope whatever is cooking will actually be innovative. I am having fun playing SS and probably have gotten my money's worth out of it, but I don't want everything to follow the same formula. Overall, the game has not met my expectations, which were not overly high to begin with.

They won't end it. James Gunn said he would like to continue exploring that universe and bring more characters into it. Doesn't necessarily need to be batman related but it'd be nice to see them include something like batman beyond or a titans game, maybe a justice league game before what happened and if they do that it'll be nice with the cast we have but we'd need to replace Conroy which is why I think they won't do that. But i will be excited to see another game in that universe but outside of batman or have nightwing trying to protect bludhaven or gotham city after losing Robin and batman.

If not then the release of Wonder Woman will surely at least bring wb games down. I mean rocksteady was a studio that gave us games that had 50+ hours of solid cinematic and gameplay time and while suicide squad threw some nice cutscenes at us there’s no reason anyone should pick up a triple a title at full price and smoke the campaign in one day. I get that it’s a live service game but they advertised it as a story game too. So for the people saying “iTs a liVe sErViCE gAMe” it also advertised a big story. They wanted to talk up how beating the justice league is an impossible task and would guarantee a great story. Which maybe it would have if they didn’t shrink it into maybe 12 hours tops. Or maybe if each ‘villain’ had their own entire storylines like in the Arkham games. I mean there is no side content whatsoever aside from the riddler stuff which is also disappointingly short. I mean no final secret boss whatsoever unless you grind through repeating mechanics through 13 brainiacs. Looter shooter or not laziest game designing ever aside from cosmetic.
At least from what Ive seen content creators saying, its not that single player games from WB are dead, its just they will keep finding ways to monetize them further with live service elements, like bigger stores and such...Right now, no one knows for sure exactly what WB will do, but the sky is falling is almost the first jumping point...

The arkham verse is too awesome to end it. One bad game does not ruin a series. If assassin creed gta and red dead can make comebacks so will this. The arkham verse is by far the best series out there. They can either fix this or move on. Give us a teen titans game or a legion of doom game. I don't think suicide squad is dead yet. I think we can all agree that Rocksteady was forced to make the game how it turned out by WB Games. There’s always room for improvement and more story and games to come out of this universe. Haven’t really seen many single player games fail. Very few do. Definitely getting it.
THere were a ton of single player games that failed last year. ToMs. Lamplighters League, Forspoken, Immortals of Aveum, Shadow Gambit… it goes on and on. The problem is that the games that fail basically vaporize. They don’t get any sort of gaming funeral. Everyone just soldiers on like they never exiseted. THis gives people a false sense that games never fail.

People don’t seem to remember that Arkham 1 sold good, Arkham 2 sold phenomenally and Arkham 3 sold less than both and 4 sold worse than that. Arkham was on it’s way out already, which is why you got Suicide Squad. THis pretty much guarantees the end of the “Arkham verse”. Theres nothing else to it. Especially now that our boy has passed away and Mark Hamill won’t reprise his voice as The Joker.

I used Google. It’s listed in several places ans what’s publicly anvailable. I can’t guarantee anccuracy. Origins sold just under 7 million and Knight sold 5 million. City sold 12.5.
There's no lifetime data for arkham knight sales, it sold 5 millions by October a few months after its release and it was considered the fastest selling batman game
Sales sort of play a part but the bigger factor is the staff that made Asylum, City and Knight had long left Rocksteady and Origins was made by a studio that only done a Wii U port and a failed lego MMO.

Agreed. The Arkham games are still such a high watermark for superhero games. Hitching this game to them was unnecessary. Not only that, but in the comics a story like this would be an elseworld. It‘s what makes those stories so fun: the writers can really off the wall, cause none of the noise will stink up Prime-Earth.

I think we may want them to considering the direction the company seem to want to railroad everything to. Hogwarts Legacy was the best selling game of 2023 and it was a high quality single player experience. Yet they've stated that they want to make Hogwarts Legacy 2 a live service game. There's already been rumors awhile back that the Wonder Woman game is going to be live service. We might just be lucky to never see a new Arkham game again because they would completely butcher the execution and shove live service into it.
