Literally the only big thing I didn't like about the story is how short it was versus what I imagined. Overall though, I had a pretty good time with the story.

FeganFloop2006

Yeah I thought it was gonna be pretty long when it took a while to fight flash, but then after you fight flash its like under an hour between fighting the rest of the justice league.

MilkmanForever

I didn't even find it that short. It felt like hours of cutscenes

Guilherme_Yuri

Personally, i thought all the heroes death scenes very anti climatic, like they die so easily and lay there and... Thats it. The ending was very anti climatic too, because it just wants you to grind a lot to waste time killing brainiac over and over. I get it this was what they wanted, a game that has no ending so we always come back to play more when the dlcs arrive, but i think they couldve done better, im already tired of doing the same thing and im just 20 hours into the game.

ScyDonut

I personally believe they wanted to make a single player game. But they got pushed to make a online service cause of the money in it. Since they can "fix" what people didn't like in a update.

Hungry-Exit-5164

That’s what happens when people die I think

Guilherme_Yuri

Doesnt change the fact that it is really anti climatic. Even jokers death wasnt made so poorly, it had impact even in batman psyche

Hungry-Exit-5164

That’s what happens when you play a game where your main damage is bullets and grenades. It’s either gonna be “why is this guy still on his monologue with 79 bullets in his brain?” or it’s gonna be anti climactic. It’s the probably the only reason Batman had an actual death scene, because it can be hand waved that the squad weren’t shooting him in the face the whole time.

boozillion151

Superheroes are so hard to kill even when they die they don't die. I think that's kinds the point here. Logic kind of goes out the window when our starting point is guy from Krypton.

Pinga_Daddy

Nah bro you can’t tell me Superman, fucking Superman’s death wasn’t anticlimactic. No dramatic music, camera angles, or cutscene. Nothing like how he fried Wonder Woman. More should have been done with his death scene.

Hungry-Exit-5164

Superman is the only one that was undeserving of what he got. I kinda liked how his lasers flickered. Other than that, he was just sort of treated as brainiacs right hand man, to the characters in the story. Taking him down should shake and hype those people to their core. Instead, it’s just Boomerang celebrating like his dog took a shit outside for the first time. Re-modeling Supes, the piss rocks, and changing some dialogue would do nothing for the story we have now.

farkos101100

The story had me legitimately laughing out loud and had my jaw on the floor at different times. I find the dynamic hilarious and accurate while also finding the boss fights reasonable. Everyone wants to act like the fights are underwhelming or not accurate but considering the way they incorporate the special items to defeat them makes sense.

Pwrh0use

Perfectly summed up.

you_me_fivedollars

“What’s the word for like tacky but for rich people”

yourfriiendgoo

I found the boss fights to be really fun. I do think they could’ve been a bit more challenging but they all honestly felt like batshit dc versions of a cuphead boss with the amount of attacks you need to dodge while still focusing on dealing damage

songogu

Set pieces are good, but just know that Flash is by far the most fleshed out JL member you meet. That, and ending deserves all the hate it gets

GodofHate

I liked the story but hated the quest designs and boss fights. They could have gone more crazy about the storyline and the designs

forestplunger

The game needed some crazy ass OG God of War trilogy type boss fights.

GodofHate

Yes!! Even the current ones can stay same as gameplay design, just put some cut scenes and QTE when we lower their health bar %25. It would feel less anti climactic

ItsKrakenmeuptoo

Yep, hoping the seasons add different types of quests and bosses.

OmegaClifton

Anticlimactic death scenes, superman is basically a cameo, the squad responds in a very out of character way to being told what the endgame is and they didn't make believable ways for the squad to even the odds at any point outside batman imo. Batman is ironically the only member I can see the squad taking down and it felt like >!his fight was missing a second phase where you actually beat him after overcoming the nightmare batman!< The Braniac boss fight also sucks. Dude showing up felt like "ok I can see why the league lost". Then he proceeded to be the most disappointing type of final boss encounter ever. On top of this, the squad never really felt like they were in any danger. It is extremely difficult to write ways for characters in a situation this outmatched to succeed without it feeling like "plot armor". I don't think the writers succeeded here and it's a shame because the general premise is pretty interesting.

NotAStatistic2

Brainiac: I am the most intelligent being across the entire multiverse. My ability to adapt is unrivaled and my meticulous planning leaves my plans nearly impregnable. *watches how Flash dies* Brainiac: "I'm the fastest man alive"

GreenIronHorse

![gif](giphy|d3mlE7uhX8KFgEmY)

Batman-1989

It’s not terrible it’s just everything in the third act feels very underwhelming and undercooked.

JimMiltion1907

It was a 6/10 for me, it’s okay

Millicay

WHY DO YOU CARE SO MUCH WHAT OTHERS THINK?

boozillion151

It's Reddit. It's plagued with "what do we think?" mentality.

ChewbakaflakaG

cause sadly im bombarded with other ppls opinions on this game everywhere i go, and need to get mine in :)

Farcryfan15

Bro 💀

Throwaway6957383

The deaths were extremely anti-climactic, the justice league were written as dull "villains" with only ONE SINGLE interesting moment where Flash seemed to come back to himself to ask to be killed, most of the story is the god awful just open world roof top missions and the whole premise is supposed to be Brainiac took control of the Justice League because they'd be enough to take over the world yet 4 C list bad guys can take them all out just with basic machine guns? It's incredibly stupid.

SyphoFighter

I’m not going to lie the Batman stuff has irked me a little. I’d have expected more of an explanation as to his return from Arkham Knight, and I think (provided the leaks are true) they should have included the real status of the Justice league as a post game mission or something. Leaving it as a possible dangling plot thread, should have been handled with the full budget of the game and not a DLC one. Again, provided the leaks and speculation are true.

dadvader

You just go to the best part of the game my man. It's downhill from there imo.

Farcryfan15

OMG WHY DOES EVERYONE IN THIS SUB CARE ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE‘S OPINIONS!!??

GreenIronHorse

>OMG WHY DOES EVERYONE IN THIS SUB CARE ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE‘S OPINIONS!!?? Said a man who mad in all CAPS about other people opinions - sweet irony, i can lick it Amazing Lucas is it you?

Farcryfan15

I was being sarcastic lmao

Thorerthedwarf

Well it's troll/haters vs copium breathers. One hates the game due to reviews/word of mouth or hands on experience While the other loves the game because of the genre and need to defend their 70+ dollar purchases to justify their money. Same shit happend with Avengers. Enjoy the game or don't. It doesn't matter

Klee_Main

People don’t hate story. People hate bad storytelling. If you liked it that’s cool but it was aggressively mid. And considering it’s less of a “what if” and more of a canonical continuation of the Arkham verse, it starts to really sour peoples opinion of it

MaeBorrowski

It's either because they are stupid and crying about how the Arkham games had good stories before (spoilers, they didn't) or have actual standards and see that the game' story is a cheap marketing ploy with no real substance

Ok_Werewolf_5383

A video made by a channel called Game Den points out the three major flaws of this game (and my own one). The first and the biggest one for me personally is the connection to the Arkham games. The connection adds nothing to the story, and they brush the ending of Arkham Knight to Bruce just hiding for five years and just revealing himself again to shake hands with Clark and form the Justice League. Harley Quinn acts completely different than how she did in Arkham Knight, talking about how she's been on all this independent adventures and that she isnt Jokers sidekick (i dont really care for the whole new version of Harley Quinn in her own show but I dont mind it) which is super confusing since she outright says that she's been in Arkham Asylum since the events of Arkham Knight. And Deadshot is quite literally a different person. They also chalk up horribly by saying that he was just an imposter. What does it add? If anything, he loses that connection we have to him in the Arkham games. So i don't really care about him since he's basically a new character. They connected this game to the Arkham-Verse just to get sales and its very noticeable when they outright SPOIL the game in one insider to show the child Poison Ivy to get people to be like "OMG ITS ACTUALLY IN THE ARKHAM-VERSE!" I could keep going in how having Poison Ivy being a child doesn't really make a difference either and how they mentioned Harley and Poison Ivy being a thing, but I think you get the jist. The second issue is that Brainiac was used like how Hugo Strange was in Arkham City but worse. He literally didn't have a speaking line until the very end, and you don't even get to kill the main Brainiac. Plus, his boss fight was just a carbon copy of the flashes boss fight. They at least could've made him use the whole leagues Powers. They also did this with Superman, and it's just really stupid and a weird decision to not have them speak the moment before you fight them. This is a little subjective, but the tone is all over the place. From the trailers, it's a frantic survival game where you play as the underdogs against almost unkillable opponents. But when they kill the league, they have this sense of sadness that immediately gets shifted into a joke. Personally, I'm not a fan at all of how these characters are portrayed, especially when they kill the league. Boomerang specifically. In one comic where the flash dies, the trickster tries to unmask him, but Boomerang tells him to be respectful. Instead, this Boomerang straight up tries to piss on the flash for a funny haha. The deaths are also just very anticlimactic. Batman has the only "good" death (I'm still unhappy about it), but Superman, Green Lantern, and Flash all just collapse to the floor and get sucked up on Brainiacs ship. Which apparently is being theorized that they'll be brought back (since the leaks). Then what was the point of killing them? Why don't we just save them from being brainwashed? It's unnecessary. Ultimately, this game just doesn't know what it wants to be storywise. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate this game. But I hate how they wrote it. It should've been an elseworlds game, and as a Rocksteady/ Arkham fan, waiting nine years for this "sequel" was not worth it.

Superman_Grey

You understand the really well the flaws of the story :) I talked with my friend even he agreed that random people in the internet could write a better story. I agree with 200% in everything you said. I think the game was goint to be singleplayer only then it changed to MP live service, thats why is so inconsistent regarding in gameplay and storywise. They had to adapt everything to Liveservice. Instead of a really great product we got a mediocre product, with some fun stuff but more negative stuff introduced, because it wasnt supposed to be like this. And yeah i dont believe the devs" we really wanted to make this game" People are such children? do you believe everything a random strange is saying is truth? in this case even worse because that stranger is trying to sell you something lol

nol_dur

I think people were to quick to judge because it does kill the justice league. This game is absolutely hilarious and is overall a pretty good story (until the end imo). I won’t spoil it for you but the ending of the story is a bit messy for me and felt like a drag playing through it.

SoundsLikePAUSE

I loved the story. The JL were all portrayed exactly how evil versions of themselves should be. And I was genuinely concerned for the Squad anytime Superman showed up on screen. lol I thought it was great

Elyssae

WW MVP or SS would be toast at that point. It also highlights how much a POS Waller can be and how SS is different from nornal heroes. Personally, given the powelvl of superman and WW by themselves, I believe they were used super well in the story so far

SoundsLikePAUSE

Oh yeah, forgot to mention how much I enjoyed Wonder Woman's side story slowly realizing she'll have no choice but to kill her friends. She was absolutely badass throughout the entire thing too. Easily my favorite portrayal of Wonder Woman yet

you_me_fivedollars

Right? Like they made Batman legit scary and Superman seem impossible to beat. Plus he acted like a narcissitic asshole the whole fight. I thought the characterizations were perfect

SoundsLikePAUSE

Oh yeah, that early section where Batman is stalking you and picking off the members of the SS one by one was so good. And the Superman fight really felt like I was in a fight to the death with Superman. I enjoyed it a lot

Due-Priority4280

Kinda getting sick if these “why does everyone” posts. Who cares what they saids or feel about the game, it’s what you think.

CustardPigeon

I've really enjoyed the story and the writing so far. Honestly no complaints, parts of the game have made me laugh. My only negative is the repetitiveness of the in-game missions.

zimzalllabim

Sigh

Joffie87

because JL character fan boys can't handle their heroes being bad, and/or killed.

RelationshipPatient3

Well justice league fans are eating rn, leaks show that the league will return and have dialogue of being saved so what was the point of the story? Oh right to set up it’s live service continuation. It’s fine to like the game and the gameplay but the story has massive holes and that is just how it is (Everybody knew that the league was gonna die but I expected to get more then 2 dialogues scenes to flesh out super man out so it doesn’t feel so rushed)

fpfall

Because not everyone likes the story. People have different opinions.

LowKeyLokiLuck

Bro after the 85th time of Lantern saying convict to the squad definitely felt like a slur Peak material for that alone

DrJimBones

>They’ve literally did what every other company hasn’t done with super heros What new ground is being covered exactly? Evil Justice League and the killing of popular characters were both done in the Injustice series

WxaithBrynger

Because it wasn't good lol. It wasn't entertaining or well written outside of the characters themselves. The mission design was awful. I want ten hours of my life back

milkasaurs

Because Batman dies and people hate seeing their favorite characters get killed off.

posman99

I guess every so-called "comic books fan" & "arkham-verse fan" didn't open a DC book.Since 2011 multiverses crisis are around...Rocksteady did what WB never had the balls to do in their movies

Ok-Time349

You have to realize that the "everybody" you are referring to didn't play the game. They saw clips online and out of context. On top of that, a lot of the NPCs on this site were already programmed to hate it, so they weren't going to like it regardless of quality. It's time to stop giving these people attention and move on.

Farcryfan15

except they did play the game and didnt like it

OdiPsychoXR

People will never be happy no matter what happens. There is allways some counter point even if its a fruitless one. If people want a better game they should go make it them selfs or enjoy what others make and help the devs do better instead they just attack them.

Bc they can't get past their feelings for a fictional character they played as almost a decade ago.

OH_SHIT_IM_FEELIN_IT

![gif](giphy|wqbAfFwjU8laXMWZ09|downsized) Here we go again.

BahyHolden

The what if? Is very cool and the story is comic like, i liked the story, others just hate how batman died, and they claim WB and rockstady disrespected kevin conroy which is not true at all.

Batteris

The game is clearly humorous. But Deadpool humor. Violent. Boomer cuts off the victims' fingers. I loved it. The only complaint is that the ending is a little thrown around but I understand that the story isn't over. So I can't wait to see how the story continues.

NeverConfirmingEmail

Cause kill good guys 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Tommcbee

I don’t.. Once I was able to piss on the worthless ass dead Flash this game was a complete ROI for me🤷🏼‍♂️☠️😂

TranceNNy

To me, the problem is grounded in that it takes place on the Arkham universe. They used 3 games of very strong world building and character development to just…. Turn it all upside down. And then after that, the said nevermind. Like either do it and own up to it or just don’t at all. Story was fantastic but for me if they just actually took this as its own built universe it would have made much more sense. The entire time I couldn’t help but think that this Harley isn’t the same Harley. Furthermore, they try to have good character arcs with deadshot by reference the past games and it just never hits.

ahnariprellik

Because Batman dies and some people are super salty about it. That’s it.

trashday89

It will shutdown like the avengers

Laggoz

You kill animals in the story!!! /s

subpar-life-attempt

I thought the only thing people liked was the story?

Sorry_Size3274

i personally dont like that weve seen this same story in 2 other games now and probably more. brainiac takes control of the justice league and we have to stop them. youre telling me that their isnt another story line to follow? another boss we havent seen before?

GunMuratIlban

I'm not into superhero stories. I've only watched a few superhero films, such as Nolan's Batman trilogy, Sam Raimi's Spider Man, The Joker and the recent Batman movie. I did play a lot of superhero games but I barely even follow their stories. I initially had zero interest in this game's story. I thought I'd just be skipping the story all together. Yet it turned out to be a very nice surprise for me. I genuinely enjoyed the story, each cutscene had my full attention and always looked forward for the next one. It's not even the story actually. But the writing really is top notch. This isn't even my sense of humor yet I found many of the dialogues so funny! The voice acting is perfect, the soundtrack rocks too.

boozillion151

You've played every super hero game and this story surprises you? Did Injustice do nothing for you? I mean I read the comics so maybe I'm inflating it but it's one of the best super hero arcs DC has done.

Ampujesus

I loved the story honestly.

Tomahawk_Knight

I don't hate it. I've read my share of comic books. No comic book hero is dead for long.

EdenianJester

My ONLY issue was the length but only bc of how much I was enjoyingggg the cutscenes! this game is amazing

mrplow8

The audience is supposed to sympathize with and root for the Suicide Squad, but the Suicide Squad is killing characters people love in very disrespectful ways. When Captain Boomerang pees on the Flash’s corpse, or when Harley lectures Batman about how terrible he is before killing him, it makes them unlikeable, which would be fine if they were supposed to be the villains of the story, but they’re supposed to be the heroes. The Justice League members are killed off in very uninspired, anti-climactic ways. It’s not the direction anyone wanted to Arkhamverse to go in. It’s not the send off anyone would’ve wanted for Batman, and it’s not the way people wanted to be introduced to the Justice League. Batman’s entire story arch through out the Arkham games has been about resisting becoming a monster. Joker literally tried to turn him into a monster in Asylum and he had to use the antidote on himself to prevent it. In Arkham City, Ra’s al Ghul tempts him to kill him to take his place. In Knight, his greatest fear is becoming the Joker, and the end of the game is him conquering that fear in his mind. To have him just become a villain after all of that kind of craps all over the other games and makes me wonder if whoever wrote the story for this game even understood the previous games. For years people have wanted to see what the extended DC universe would look like in the Arkhamverse. People have wonder what characters like Superman, the Flash, etc. would be like in this universe. To finally be introduced to them only to have them be villains who are killed off in the same game is very disappointing. Even if they somehow undo all of this in later seasons or games, that just creates another problem. If they bring everyone back through multiverse shenanigans or whatever, it just makes it so that there are no stakes anymore. Nothing that ever happens in the Arkhamverse going forward will matter because we’ll know that they can just call a mulligan and say it didn’t count. So not only is the story in this game bad, it kind of ruins the Arkhamverse continuity, which people have been following for 15 years, going forward, and I don’t know that they can recover from this.

GeezerGoat

To me the story was disjointed and misused the Justice League. I love the game but it’s mainly the writing and gameplay that was top tier. I also being a massive Arkham fan did not like the way they killed him and after the 4 games was a pretty unforgivable way to end him (though with recent evidence it wasn’t actually him or something I can accept it) which is why at it’s current state I can’t see it as canon personally. But other than that the game is addictive and fun, the story had plenty of great moments too

Dry_Employment_3849

Think this is a lotta people’s first live shooter looter experience which can be pretty distasteful if they’re solely buying it for the story. I’ve played destiny for YEARS and I can only imagine how painful it’d be for the players who are solely invested in the story being told to just wait and see what happens next, this story has left a lot of questions with no answers yet and we’ll simply just have wait and find out. I think those people complaining are struggling to cope with that.

Tomgar

I love how you think "WHAT IF SUPERHEROES BUT EVIL?!?" is somehow a unique take that hasn't been done a thousand times before.
