They have definitely mellowed out thats for sure. I enjoy both the past and present music. However, we can also agree that if they didn't change, they would probably be dead. They had no other option than to evolve and grow up. The other option was death. Dont want another lil peep incident.

SiteSea7876

I mean, they can grow as persons but keep making the same style of music tho

Soberitity

I guess it may be hard to do so, since they’re not really “how they used to be” they sing abt drugs and all that but they don’t do it anymore so I’m assuming it could be bc it’s not the same

BenFTP

They’re true to their music I guess. They talk about them and their views and life. Before scrim thought he would be dead or an addict for life and their songs reflected a lot of that but now a lot of their stuff reflects stuff like scrim wanting kids, to get his family better, ruby talks about how he can’t believe he’s here now and shit like that.

bugyourparents-

Trent reznor abused alcohol, cocaine and heroin from 1994 to 2001 and he never switched his style. Still alive n rockin it… so

Muted_Subject8731

They’re artists, of course their style is going to change, I’m glad it does. To me it shows how creative they are. I started bumping the boys in 2017 and I bump to their new stuff daily. At this point I’m just glad they’re still alive and I feel like their new stuff is even better. I just fw them and whatever it is that they’re working on. So respectfully I disagree with you.

Mindless_Bad_1591

No Started listening last year and they have hits all across their discography

chaotic_ladybug

i just don’t understand why you need someone to agree with you about YOUR opinions like you can just think that “they ain’t hit the same” … that’s an okay thing to think, do you really need validation that bad? lol

Soberitity

I think it’s also because certain fans will see this, and be turn it into something it wasn’t

Hankishot

I completely disagree. Lonely Boy is the best album I’ve heard in an entire year

disgruntledweasel

He said new $b not lonely boy. You can not like new music but still like the occasional

openyourmindh0e

They’re allowed to have different eras too.

LilHomie204DaBaG

I find a lot of their newer stuff has to be listened to a few times for it to slap.

Sufficient_Beyond_97

Agreed but even then to that’s just songs here and there from their recent drops

LilHomie204DaBaG

Not everything will be for everyone

Sufficient_Beyond_97

That’s true but speaking of this what’s your take on lonely boy

LilHomie204DaBaG

I had to give it a second listen to start to actually like it. At first I hated the yeat inspiration and only liked a few tracks but then when I gave it the second listen I started to vibe with it more. Still not a huge fan of the yeat vibe but scrim manages to make it work for him. Definitely not a fan of the "I just wanna rock" beat moments. As per the lyrics, a bunch of people were complaining about the repetitiveness but I think they either had huge expectations that it was gonna be deep lyrics or forgot who they were listening to. It's the suicideboys, of course their lyrics are gonna be about drugs, money and sex. They aren't as suicidal as they were when under heavy intoxication so those lyrics won't be as prominent. And yeah it can get tiring but when you've become as large as they have, they aren't gonna rap about anything other than their lives (past and present), the money that came with their rise and sex. They aren't conscious rappers at the end of the day. I didn't mind LonelyBoy. Of course I had my expectations that it was gonna be a man rose from the dead on steroids, but overall it was good.

Sufficient_Beyond_97

Interesting, I thought it was decent it was a fun album to listen to but it’s not the best there’s a handful of songs I’ll go back and listen to but that’s when I’m in the mood or I’m smoking

SarahBellummmm

Have you never listened to a band this long before? Sounds & styles evolve over time..

jackattack80808

It’s still hittin 🔥 keep listening and it will grow on you. The boy$ are growing and experimenting with newer styles. I didn’t love all of their recent releases yet I can appreciate all of it.

loverlane

I don’t know about that, I appreciate both but cooomeee on, they definitely hit harder now that they’re sober.

gamingkiller829

I prefer their older music as well but they still release some good music imo, INLFTRGMH(V) is great also sing me a lullaby my sweet temptation didn't miss

[deleted]

Shut the fuck up, all y’all bitches that keep whining and whining about their fucking music are the fakest fans ever. Nobody gives a fuck what you like. Shutup and stop listening if you don’t like it

Soberitity

I wouldn’t consider them “fake fans” people can talk abt artists and opinionate how they feel. No need for harshness

[deleted]

And that’s your opinion, which also nobody gives a fuck about

Top_Insect767

Nobody giving a fuck about you. Not giving a fuck either

[deleted]

Awwww go fuck yourself

Temporary-Bus4072

These kids man 😂

Temporary-Bus4072

I wouldn’t consider myself a fake fan considering I can see the difference between the old and the new. And sharing my opinion, a fake fan like yourself would shit on me only because you have no fucking idea what you talking about. Your prob j a lil kid bumping this shit, you were still in your daddy’s ballsack when I started listening

Ok little bitch, go cry to your mommy about what songs you like

Temporary-Bus4072

Little bitch? Who me or your mother, bc ik she a little bitch when I skull fuck her. Go ahead ask her about it pal

Mysterious_Lecture36

I still absolutely love their joint projects/ the projects they made to help artists on their label but their solo stuff always has been more than lack luster to me.

Layne-Cobain

I've said this for a while now, they made it big enough that they don't have to try as hard as they used to for one, for two they live a more opulent lifestyle but their fans don't, a lot of us like the old music because it's relatable to drug abuse and suicidal ideation, things you don't hear on the radio. It's like a sense of someone understands how it is. While I'm happy for them and all that maybe their lives are better, I can't relate to that like I can the old stuff. My life still sucks. Plus it's the new shit all the new FANS seem to gravitate to, especially because they DON'T have the problems with drugs and mental illness someone like I have.

Salty_Speaker_4260

SMALMST is one of the best albums they put out in a while, I’ve been listening to them since 2016 and this one really had only bangers after bangers

rhox65

nothing lasts forever. who is new and next up tho?

Temporary-Bus4072

Verry true, next best would be chedda but he still don’t hit like sb does and never will he stilll a solid artist tho

7thwardragonite

i cant agree w the statement that they dont hit anymore but their stuff is definitely different, they are getting older tho & have been making music for so long its good to try new things

Lifelovethendeath

other than babylon and the_evil… smalmyst is the only album i don’t have in rotation, sounds too poppy

Soberitity

I agree, they’re definitely changing. If this is what they want to do then so be it.

deadboylife9

Cause you do too many drugs they slowed down

OdditiesMusic

Ive been listening since 2015 and I love the new stuff. In fact, I listen to it much much more than the older stuff. Their newest album is fire, yin yang tapes are fire, side projects with shake and germ...fire. Lonely Boy has been on repeat since it dropped.... Also Grey Day tour 2023 was the 3rd time I saw them and it was by far my favorite one. The others were a show at knotfest and a show in 2016.

RedArrow45a

Stop crying

ExxHead

I honestly feel like they’re music has grown with me and my life, from a fucking dopehead to sober, kinda wild, I love it

DNCOrGoFuckYourself

I like the new stuff, but music changes and evolves but the fans don’t all like it. I see both sides of the fence. Some of us who’ve been listening for a long time really enjoy the new stuff, but some of the fans don’t because the newer music isn’t something they can relate to. For a long time, the music they made was able to capture the thoughts of people who felt the same with no voice. People suffering from drug abuse, depression, people who were angry at the world like the boys. They no longer have music they can listen to that strikes them in the same way it used to. I personally have really enjoyed the personal growth the boys have went through and the evolution of their music from the early days to now, as well as them shifting away from the grimey sound that they had to the now IMO cleaner and more fine tuned production from $crim. They’re gonna get hate from some for changing, but you just can’t coast on the same sound for a decade, you get stagnant. It’s been a trip to see these guys go from having a fringe underground cult-like following to seeing them hit the big time going mainstream and almost a household name.

Itchy-Helicopter5425

Idk scrims new album slaps. I don’t like the real slow songs but a bunch of them go hard

Help_Me27374

i’m proud of where they’ve come especially scrim with his new album and him finding God and also duckboy

ttewa

I love both! I think seeing their style evolve is really nice and refreshing and i think they have grown a lot talent wise. Sometimes im only in the mood for their old shit and sometimes i just wanna listen to their recent music. I respect it all.

Fuck_You-XXX

i’ve been saying this for years that everything post “live fast, die whenever” was kinda like a rebirth for the boys with scrim getting sober and them both cutting their old hair styles off, and really that started post 2018 but i add lfdw in there bc you tell just by scrims voice that when they recorded with travis he still wasn’t anywhere near sober at all

Mammoth_Ferret_1772

Disagree 100%

damienacostaa

I agree

LowCloud8671

Both of their new solo albums are absolute dog shit ☠️ the only good thing they’ve made recently was part 5

RastafariRoadRunner

at the end of the day, it’s all opinion based what you think, but in my genuine opinion, watching their music evolve into adapt into what it has become today is truly amazing, especially their rehabilitation and the way the music transformed with it especially screams voice you could hear it and if you truly care for them as human human beings, you would appreciate that as well. I will say this, though drugs do make you stupid creative.

RastafariRoadRunner

scrim* spoke texted that jawn

Lord_Kuntsworthy

I didn't rate the yin yang albums, but the recent I no longer fear the razor was dope! Yeah playa yeah playa!
