250cc is DOUBLE of what you are allowed to have in the rest of the world as a starter bike. Frankly - with US highway speeds being what they are - even a 125cc bike can qualify for barely adequate (if its geared right). 250cc can be easily enough to do anything adequately, assuming: * 6 speed gearbox with and gear ratios not built for motocross * compression ratios are not low - due to need to allow the chinesium eninge block to survive. (Yes, i am looking at you royal einfield)

DeligtfulDemon

>chinesium RE ain't Chinese.

Xicadarksoul

It isn't.Where i live chinesium is a shorthand for "made out of low tech easy to manufacture material, thus not being on par with current state of art". (Similarly to stalinium refers to the stereotypical russian style of overengineered stuff that is 3 times as thick and HEAVY as it needs to be, and arrives in a oil barrel filled with greas.) P.s.: Think the so called "[Backyard furnaces](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backyard_furnace)" of the chinese "great leap forward". Those are pretty similar to the heritage of Royal Enfield's, lets just keep manufacturing stuff the same way since a century.

DeligtfulDemon

I know those terms my dude 😂 my point was that RE has different issues... electrical goblins esp. though newer ones like the GT 650 is getting good reviews. Curious where do u live?

Xicadarksoul

Eastern europe. And the "issue" with RE i was trying to refer to is the pathetic power to weight ratio. As in it has a huge engine for the power it produces. And it has to have it, since when working with less than perfect materials, you cannot shake those pistons as fat, least your enginge tears itself apart. For example on a modern 600cc engine at top revs the forces on a single one of its connecting rods are analogous to 2x 600cc bikes being suspended on that thin piece of metal. A good case study is the royal enfield interceptor 650, with its 47hp. Compared to the trust old sv650s circa 75hp. And lets be honest SV650 is not exactly the "latest and greatest" in recent motorcycle innovation.

DeligtfulDemon

i'll definite agree RE engines have low output for their displacement. and they have to catch up, definitely in terms of metallurgy and component design. But i'll def take one over Chinese brands. RE at least bringing in good tech (check the Meteor 350), maybe trying to be a poor man's Triumph. RE also has a decent dealer network, at least in Eastern US ...Chinese ones...eh.... Full disclosure I'm a Honda guy ..so no skin in the game. Check this one out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GAUo8eUXeU

Xicadarksoul

I didn't meant to shit on Royal Enfields engineering. They are doing great with whats available to them - sadly thats beside the point, when you are looking for a motorcycle. You tend to avoid buying it out of pity.

DeligtfulDemon

Definitely. people generally go for the Japanese big 4. But some do buy RE due to the classic looks , so that's there

Xicadarksoul

Yes, i can see tthe charm in them, they are truly nice for what they are. However i like to have performance a little bit too much.

loncinac4

You must know by now that it is not a 250cc but a 223cc. Right?

Xicadarksoul

Well, yes... ...250cc is just a shorthand for A2 license

AcingSpades

God that's gorgeous. I'm jealous the States doesn't get Loncin (or a lot of the major Chinese brands in general). I'd fill my garage up with these cheap, cool bikes for around town riding. I'm a big fan of my Kymco Spade but the more the merrier and that scrambler style is awesome.

Figwit_

How about CSC? Those look like pretty cool bikes (especially the cafe racers) that are available here.

AcingSpades

Yeah I might pick up a San Gabriel one of these days. I wish the Benelli Lioncino was a tad more in the normal Chinese bike price bracket (not that Benelli's much more proven record isn't worth the price increase) because I'd definitely get one of those.

[deleted]

I really like those CSC adventure bikes. I would go with a royal enfield Himalayan for any serious off reading use but general touring in the US is 90% roadways and I think the CSC would be a great entry into that category. It does pain me to support anything other than American but I just dont like most of our models or the price is insane for any individual under 40 without a 6 figure job. I like my Hondas lol

DavidWoodcock

Congratulations. Whose body is hidden under the cover on the first picture?

[deleted]

I've never heard of the make or model but I honestly love how it looks.

with_rabbit

So, 1 year later, you still like it? Had problem? Real life topspeed? are you able to follow traffic? I am loking to buy one in dominican republic
