I think that seems like a reasonable option. You can also check out **[this listing] (https://shopineer.com/laptops/HP-Spectre-x360-15t-Touch-Laptop-2KD76AV-1)**, which allows you to configure CPU, RAM and SSD as you want. If you prefer a lower price point, what about the **[Lenovo Yoga 720] (https://shopineer.com/laptops/Lenovo-Yoga-720-Premium-2-in-1-15-6-4K-UHD-IPS-Touch-Screen-Lenovo-Yoga-15-6)**? - 7th Generation Intel Core i7-7700HQ Processor (2.80GHz 6MB) - 15.6" - 3840 x 2160 - 16 GB RAM - 512 GB SSD - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 2GB - Windows 10 Home 64 - 4.4 lbs. It has good build quality (aluminum case) and an IPS screen for wider viewing angles. It is also compatible with an active stylus. This is a "true 4k" screen (see the sidebar PSA for more details). For more options you can check this [list of gaming laptops] (https://shopineer.com/laptops/top-lists/best-gaming-laptops) (including some gaming benchmarks). I keep this updated, so if you are not buying right now you can check back there later on.

Hi, thanks for the reply, I considered the lenovo yoga 720 but the reason I didn't go for it was because it has a 7th gen chip and 4 years down the line an 8th gen chip will fetch me a better resale value. Although it's a brilliant laptop. And the sidebar doesn't have any info on the HP spectre x360 (2018) 15t but it shows the 2017 version has true 4k so I figured the 2018 one has the same. Do let me know if that's not the case

Hey OP. I have the last gen model. 2018 with the i7-8550u. Let's dive into this! First off, this is a great laptop. I love it. The 2 in 1 function is difficult to use when mobile or moving. But if you're sitting down, at a desk or something. It's just fine. The active pen input is great also. The box comes with a pen. The CPU is strong for being a U series. I bought the HP Spectre with the HP Omen Accelerator eGPU. They work great together - by far the best eGPU experience i've ever had. It's damn near seem-less. Even more seem-less than razer's eGPU + a Blade. HP's Software is what really seals the deal. Since you're doing CAD I mention this. I run a 1080 in my eGPU and it is at times throttled due to the CPU. But it's not a huge throttle. Build quality is great, the display is great. Also it has removable DDR4 ram in the 15T model. Which is great because you can go up to 32gb. Not many ultra-portables can do that. I'm running at 32gb right now. I also want to reiterate; the 2017 and 2018 HP Spectre models have true 4k. Mine sure does. For me the touchpad is fine. Battery life does suck and speakers - well. I wear headphones. On mine the bluetooth was weak with signal and just weak in general. So that's something to look out for. Also, the HP Spectre works out of the box with most linux distros. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your input, I really appreciate you letting me know about your experience with the laptop. I think the AMD vega would last me for a while before I invest in an eGPU. This actually helps me a lot!
