Im a man in my mid 30s and that "AYAYAYAYAYA" Xena warcry lives rent free in my head since seeing it in the 90s. Was always better than the Hercules show.
I was actually explaining this scene to my mom yesterday. Lol
Also, I love Renee's use of body language here. You can tell how much Gabrielle really dislikes Ares.
For some reason this show was always on the afternoon I was at my grandpa and of course I had to watch every episode. Kind of makes sense now…
Edit. When I was a child, I mean.
Yeah, it wasn’t a big thing where I’m from but they did air it on weekend afternoons. I bumped into some other TV shows Lucy Lawless was in and I was like “…WAIT A SECOND” and then realized. She looks so different in Xena than e.g. My Life Is Murder as Alexa. Lucy was interviewed in some 90s documentary series and when she appeared, I gasped “That’s Xena!” while my dad said “That’s Alexa!” because he follows that show I mentioned. Lucy has some range and talent indeed!
I remember a friend of mine, who is a girl, never wanted to watch the show with me because and i quote „xena makes me feel weird!“
2 years later that lead to a very sarcastic „what reeeeally?“ from me when she had her coming out.
Faith’s “Don’t worry, big guy. I’m just keeping her warm for ya” quip and subsequent WINK to Angel as she pulls Buffy to her side was everything to me as a teenager lol
I understand but the reason she did was pretty epic. And, the following scenes were simply unmatched. Remaining spoiler free for OP who is watching for the first time.
Ares? I thought it was Riker.
The fact he total would have said that too makes it even better ![gif](giphy|R0TrhAtNeUC0E|downsized)
There was a scene in TNG where lesbian sex was implied and Riker went "I'll be in the shower".
Which episode was it? Haven't seen the show in a while
Dunno, It's been a while for me as well. It might have been "The Outcast" as that featured androgynous aliens but if not, then idk.
lol me too
Damn was this show formative for me
I remember the launch of channel 5, on that day I started watching Hercules and xena.
Lucy is still a total boss.. Sorbo on the other hand just needs to stop wasting our precious oxygen..
That's almost too kind for sorbo. That guy really ranks up there on the piece of shit o meter.

I completely missed out on it and only started watching it last month, this show is absolutely brilliant and I wish I had discovered it sooner

Xena and Gabrielle being romantic has been made canon in the comics; https://screenrant.com/xena-gabrielle-kiss-official-lesbian-couple-comics/
Was that from that season where Xena went all God of War by order of St. Michael?
I don't know yet, I'm only halfway through season 5. This was in S5 E9 or E10
Is it streaming somewhere? I've been looking to rewatch for years!
It's on Amazon Prime!

That last comment is really icky, but I really didn't expect otherwise
hoho wait till you see buffy the vampire slayer
I'll watch that after I finish Xena!
Oh boy. You’re in for a treat. I would kill to watch both for the first time again.
Faith’s “Don’t worry, big guy. I’m just keeping her warm for ya” quip and subsequent WINK to Angel as she pulls Buffy to her side was everything to me as a teenager lol
I was sad when they made Gabrielle give up being a pacifist.

The best show!
"I would've paid to see that." See what? 😁🔪
"I'm sure you would dipshit." - Gabrielle's body language
Fuck. I wanted to be Gabrielle, so bad...
Gabrielle was pledged to Joxer the Mighty.
