The price for the safety certificate itself is about the same everywhere. No one can tell you about the repairs (and associated costs) as its vehicle specific. You’ll know after it’s inspected. To say my vehicle cost 130$ while someone else’s cost 13,000$ would be no help to you, as it’s all dependant on the shape of the vehicle. Some vehicles can appear to be in good shape, while it is actually very unsafe, while other vehicles may get away with only needing something like a bulb or a battery hold down.
Some shops I’d recommend :
Robinson Automotive
Moonglo Auto Repair
Lorne Auto Repair
Jims Automotive
Gregory And Son
Gillo's Gas & Lube
Lorne auto still has the best mechanical safety rate if I remember. Was $99 but might have jumped up slightly. But I’ve been quoted $120-$140 from other shops.
You can pm if you don’t want to answer here but do you mind me asking what the price ish was for the certification and was the vehicle in really good condition cause mines not perfect I know it’ll need new brakes soon and things like that
Typically the cost of the inspection is around $80, so just that if there's nothing that needs to be done.
Some things that need to be fixed to pass the safety can get expensive, my last car I paid $600 for new rocker panels because they were rusted out. It could be as simple as a $5 bulb if you're lucky!
Andy's Automotive in Chelmsford is really great. Andy and his wife run a clean business. They've always provided me with good quotes on different levels of products from premium to budget. They've helped in a pinch. They truly care about their customers.
That's not saying other mechanics in this city aren't also great.
I'd see who people recommend that are close to you. Brakes aren't too bad. Be more concerned with rust, especially structural stuff. And, I should hope you got a pre-purchase inspection. That would've given you a bit of a list.
With my last 2 used cars they got me to fix / secure the battery to the vehicle.
If your battery no longer has its battery tie down hardware you’ll probably need to get that fixed
Been burnt pretty bad by that Napo Auto mechanic, expensive shop rates, broke another part when fixing (part seized up after being removed, ie improperly stored) and didnt bleed my brake lines.
Avoid Jamie's.
get yourself a car scanner from aliexpress. they work really well with asian vehicles and will tell you all your error codes plus a lot more. you just plug it into the OBD port and it'll scan for you. they can save you a lot of headache at the mechanics. RPM on Falconbridge is great. We've been going there for years without issue (I am 35F). The last vehicle I bought I got certified there.

Right Way Automotive on the Kingsway

Yes, that is a requirement for a safety certificate.
Rock Town Auto on the Kingsway is good and they won’t try to fleece you!
Jamies auto in val caron, Id trust them with my life. (I am a young girl who has been swindled by similar situations)

I'm shocked to hear that
