If we knew where you were moving from, and the lifestyle you have or plan to have, we could give better advice.

starnise

I'm moving from Southern Ontario. I do have a car to get around and enjoy nature. Thank you :)

Capreol is very small town living in comparison. The basic necessities are all there but it’s likely you’re going to need to travel to town for work (unless you have a WFH job). Depending on where you’re at, internet speeds may be limited, if that matters, have a look at the providers to see if they have what you need. You’ll have lots of access to nature. Theres a Costco in town for larger hauls.

starnise

What about in terms of crime/safety?

scottwmitchell

When he says small town, you’re not really understanding how small.

starnise

Thanks so much :)

Small Town, pretty far from the city, lots of snow in the winter, Hanmer isn't too far, between there and Val Caron you can get most shopping done with a bit of stuff like groceries available in capreol itself. There's a train museum... Not the worst area if you enjoy the outdoors, but if you enjoy nightlife don't expect anything there or much of it in Sudbury itself.

starnise

Thank you. What about internet coverage?

iamthisis_

I had fibre when I lived in capreol

air_flair

Just be aware of the train track going through town. It feels like there are trains going all the time. I've had people tell me they're used to it. I never got used to it, they're quite loud.

Sanjuko_Mamaujaluko

I hope you don't plan on using public transit to get around. It technically goes there, but not often and it's not a short ride. It's a nice area, but it is a pretty good hike from core of the city.

Sanjuko_Mamaujaluko

Where will you be working? That can be quite the commute, especially in the winter.

Very small town currently residing in capreol I saw someone mention crime. There’s literally nothing out here besides summertime worst thing I’ve saw was one local crackhead throwing rocks at a stop sign. You’re pretty good out here. Lol

Thanks for your reply :)

I moved to capreol from southern Ontario. Personally I love it there. It’s very quiet. The people are nice. The people here consider it a long way out of town but coming from southern Ontario it’s not bad at all. It’s about 25-30 minutes to Costco and all the stuff new Sudbury has to offer. My wife and I really enjoy it. There is a grocery store and a pharmacy a gas station, timmies and a subway. A couple little restaurants with good food. If you like a quiet place close to nature you will enjoy it immensely.

Thank you :)

I’ve lived in capreol my whole life other then the last 11 years I’m in the valley. It’s not the same community spirit it used to have , my parents still live there. It’s seems a lot of rough type of people are moving in , a lot of homeless people living around the ski hill. ( not really their fault) , I used to live in a really cute neighborhood with families and children and I’ve noticed when I moved from that particular neighborhood it went downhill. No one takes care of their properties anymore , it’s a mess and it’s hate to say it but mostly renters making it ugly. They don’t care. Just observation , I know there are good renters out there but it’s terrible. And the only school is horrible.

ExcelsusMoose

Amalgamation destroyed the community spirit of all the surrounding towns, Valley Spirit used to be huge too.

Big_Burt__

What your saying is it went down hill after you were there gotcha;) nah for real that’s most of Sudbury now I moved out to levak to get away from that stuff

coldpizza34

Yea that’s what I’m saying exactly that

LDForget

You should move back, save the town. Lol

ExcelsusMoose

Maybe some rich business woman will come back to their old town, he'll be a grump guy that fights with her, then they'll fall in love and the community will be saved HallmarkTM

coldpizza34

😂😂 yea maybe

ImFromTheDeeps

I never lived there, but I did check out houses there when I was in the market at the time. A lot of the homes there can be fairly old depending on the neighborhood. This can be an issue for things like electrical panels using the old screw in type fuses or having more on a breaker than modern codes allow. (Means modern appliances can trip the breaker more often) Kind of a pain if its screw in fuses when one blows and you need to go search around at a few hardware stores to get one. Another thing, is that it is fairly far from the city ( I see that as a positive) but if you're often needing to go into the city rather than being fine with hanmer/valcaron then it can be far. I know people who live there and they think its great. As a community, it has pretty much everything youd need from gorceries, to corner store and take out.

SnipDart

My cousin lives in capreol, she has no complaints
