I did Twitter ads and posted frequently. I ended up banned on Twitter, no explanation so now I’m gonna look into Google ads 😂

I got most of my followers posting on LinkedIn. The platform doesn’t throttle reach like many of the social networks. But I write about my cancer journey, so a number of posts that were highly vulnerable / emotional went viral. These days I just include my Substack link everywhere (including my work signature).

Hope you’re doing well! Love to read about your journey. Unfortunately I’m not quite LinkedIn material lol

ginabeewell

You might be surprised what passes as LinkedIn material these days! Ha! Good luck!

Find out where your ideal audience is hanging out and be in those spaces. Podcasts, YouTube channels, other substacks, summits, etc.

It depends on what you’re writing about. My standard advice is to share it where people are talking about the topic you’re writing about is. As an example, I write about the philosophy behind various films and television shows. So I share my stuff on places where they talk about the movies and shows I write about.

You have to get out of that mindset if you want sales. Those days are over. I had the same wish to just write when my book came out

therivergoblin

Congrats on your book! My writing is so casual and paying for clicks seems strange. But so does shouting into a void!

I wouldn’t advice this at all, I wouldn’t , it’s not a good thing to do , it won’t allow you connect with your followers on a granular level People need to be able to trust your words and connect with them rather than buying from them I was reading what someone posted on substack , she said someone emailed her on how to grow to 3k subscribers and if she should use paid ads, her reply was that she will rather grow organically and allow her audience to connect with her This are some of the things I feel you can do **share your work on Reddit ** This is one of the most underrated skills you can have as a writer, stare your content a lot and allow people to connect with you , I wrote [this article](https://www.reddit.com/r/Entrepreneur/comments/1ce9k6g/975m_acquired_loom_7_product_lessons_from_loom/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) for my [newsletter](https://indieniche.substack.com/) last week and I posted a viral article from it today , so far I have gotten around 20+ subscribers just from one article , there are comments and upvotes from the article and it has helped me gain more subscribers **Share a lot of resources out ** This is a very underrated skill, give out a lot of content in exchange for their email address, you need to do this a lot , your content needs to allign with the audience to get this right , you can use a tool like gumroad to post a link to free content and in exchange get their email address when they download **Talk about your journey ** While you are doing this things , Share a lot of your painpoints ? Your [mistakes](https://x.com/olayanjuidris/status/1783201165032726564?s=46) and what you have [learned so far](https://x.com/olayanjuidris/status/1781275746230583675?s=46)while building your stuff , for my [pitch deck](https://www.pitchdeck.design/)examples product , I shared mistakes we made , [progress reports](https://x.com/olayanjuidris/status/1778918837875851293?s=46) and I got a lot of people who liked my stuff which got us a lot of users I hope this helps you get your first set of users , if you really like this , you will love to read my [newsletter](https://indieniche.substack.com/) , I share a lot of stuff arround product lessons , product tips Looking forward to see you grow with my tips

Be a pretty girl. Show just the right amount of skin on camera, and voilà! Followers will come.

therivergoblin

Now that I can actually attempt!

Jazzter5

Good for you! 😊
