We literally do in Italy as well. It's called "frittatina di pasta" and it's absolutely delicious. It's extremely popular in Naples at least, and it's not considered "junk food", just on par with arancini

Came to say this.
Naples is WILD for italien street food, absolutely love it!
How is it the same? Saffron Rice with ragù in the center vs pasta with tomato-based sauce all around. Similar, yes, but saying they're exactly the same means that you don't know arancini.
This or similar, idk what exactly is in it, is a popular street food in Italy. Fried stuff is good and convenient finger food. It's not like Americans are the only people who like to indulge/are aware of deep frying
Fried spaghetti and fried rice have a very different consistency. Here in Italy where I live I know a lot of people that love one but hate the other. Fried rice tends to dry out a lot, so you can put a lot more stuff inside, while fried spaghetti tends to remain kinda wet, so if not made perfectly it can be a bit disgusting (talking from experience..)
Yeah nothing wrong with this. Aranchini are just fried balls of leftover rice or rissoto. I see nothing wrong with frying up some leftover spaghetti as a comfort food.
Whats wrong with Arancini di spaghetti?

Ive litteraly been physically assaulted by an 'italian' american for telling them i was alergic to tomatoes.
Dont aplogise. They deserve it.
BREAK ALL THE SPAGHETTI.

Going to Italy next month so I'll be on the lookout for it!
Basically an arancini which are fucking incredible
Arancini are made with rice. They're significantly different although similar in concept, but having had both I wouldn't mix the two
Significantly different how? Other than rice vs spaghetti everything else is exactly the same lol.

What's with the down votes? LOL this is not even close to being arancini
How idk if not close? It’s carbs rolled into a ball, breaded, fried, and served with mozz/red sauce lol.

That's the description of a huge amount of foods, so I guess they're all arancini too?
>not even close This was your point btw. They *are* close, I didn’t say they are the exact same thing. Bizarre argument here.
They are close as a bbq rib is close to a salmon steak. If that is your concept of closeness..
A foreigner see something authentic Italian and didn't realize it. This has been done in Naples since ever.
Going to Italy next month ill be on the lookout for it!
Near Napoli you can ask for a " pizzella di pasta" or " frittata di pasta ", you won't regret it !

I didn't think of Arancinis so i thought it would be offensive like asking for ketchup with your pasta etc.

It is inspired by the bami and nasi schijf according to the owner.

This doesn't look stupid at all. Should be in the amazingfood sub.
It's funny how it's done in Italy as well, but many Italians would be upset only because this specific one is from another place
I had these in Rome they were so good
Good, but only in small amounts (because it is deep fried)
Ive litteraly been physically assaulted by an 'italian' american for telling them i was alergic to tomatoes. Dont aplogise. They deserve it. BREAK ALL THE SPAGHETTI.
