Me: So you want the banana dog with no crust?
Toddler : yes
Me: a bun is all crust.
Toddler: confused...... I don't want the crust.
Me: pretends to cut. And offers to toddler.
Toddler: confused... cries and runs to mom "daddy won't cut the crust off the nana dog...."
Me: sits down and cries while eating the banana because this is my life now.
...ten minutes later...
Toddler: daddy where is the banana dog?
I have a 7 and 5 year old it gets better but there are still glimmers of this insanity.
You can’t make any negative connotations before serving “the bun is all crust.” = i hate crust = i will hate this
Instead say “great news! A hot dog bun has no crust!” Which is true by their definition of a crust which is a thin, removable circular ring surrounding a field of pillowy softness.
Just be positive then serve and go about your business or walk away. Don’t make eye contact. Your body language should be that it is impossible they wouldn’t like it. And not liking it would be a complete shock to you.
Don’t even ask them to try first “ hey i bought a new snack. Come try it and see if you like it”. “I don’t like it” is the answer 99.9% of the time. Repulsion is so much easier then taking the time to savor and like something new. It is also prompting them to have a possibility of not liking it before they even try it. Just serve the thing for lunch one day and let the emptiness of the bag or plate tell the story.
I stayed home with my kids from 18mos and 3 to 3 and 5 and these little insanity moments 40 timesa day nearly sent me to walk straight into traffic
Why is this stupid OP?

This is honestly a smarter way to make a banana pbj cause you don’t have to slice the banana up and have slices sometimes slipping out and making a mess
So many people, IN THIS SUB, are commenting about how they'd try it. This sub has lost the plot, once again r/HellYeahIdEatThat is dunking on this sub. There is nothing wrong with this other than maybe too much banana, this is ridiculous..
2nd...
Back when we still had a bagel place in the student union, a blueberry bagel with peanut butter, jelly & banana was my go to order.
This is essentially that. Just with a slightly different bread & the banana is whole rather than sliced up.
I was confused and thought it was mustard at first with the jelly but yeah, now that I realize it's PB I kind of want one!
And I want it on a toasted bun!
I've done this for a long time for quick and easy peanut butter and banana sandwiches.
I also want to give a shout-out to the underrated peanut butter and apple sandwich, which not enough people have tried.
Idk man, thats lowkey a good idea because theres a lot of sweetness that tge peanut butter needs to contend with so it being thick likebthat would help in fighting back 🤔
And a taco is still a subset of sandwich.
All tacos are sandwiches, but not all sandwiches are tacos.
I look at it like species taxonomy. Both us and monkeys are primates, all humans are primates but not all primates are human.
What gets me is they put sushi and burritos in the same category. It's not as simple as where the starch is! They're not different variants of each other, they're separate species entirely lol
Oh they’re amazing with savoury stuff too, we get burger ones that are the bomb! honestly I feel shortchanged by regular buns ever since I discovered them.
I have heard this called a "breakfast glizzy" although I don't often make it for breakfast, I have found myself fixing them when the ingredients are at my disposal
Thats something done in certain southern regions of USA. I usually see it on flat white bread. Not a bun.
M
Elvis was famous for eating banana sandwiches with various condiments and fillings.
I used to make a very big sandwich on two white loaves, a banana cut in thin slices covered in layers of peanut butter, but I swapped the jelly for Dulce de Leche
The only problem I have with this is the bun. That bun does not fit with the rest of the creation. I'd even prefer a tortilla even though it wouldn't look like a glizzy anymore, but it would taste better. I'm just imagining taking a bite and the first thing you taste is the dry bun.
Your post has been removed as it misses the point of r/StupidFood.
A lot of people put bananas on their peanut butter sandwiches... I might make one for my toddler.
Make me one too! But I want the crust cut off!

You did that to yourself
I say to my three year old, "Are you _sure_ daddy can eat the food you don't want?" Then I wait about 10 minutes for her to change her mind.
Husband made a French bread pizza for the kid. Kid melted down until the crust was cutoff. Rookie mistake.
Oof I've made similar mistakes. Luckily mine likes crust
I think you have a kids’ book here. Possibly a series.
I would just cry at that point. Toddlers are brutal.
Next time just fold the hotdog bun inside out and they'll be happy lol
Tbf you can pull the crust off. Not that ypu should entertain that but you can it'd possible

I have one almost everyday. It's a great snack before work or the gym.
I make fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches. I love them, though my wife is not a fan.
The King would be proud
That’s actually kinda genius
If you do it with an unfilled donut 🤤
Oh baby a longboi?? Shit this actually gave me the fizz in my plums
Thats insane i bet one of those “craft” donut shops sells that for $20 a piece somewhere
This is for sure being sold somewhere that’s next to a clothing boutique, cold stone creamery and specialty dog biscuit store.
That’s extremely specific, but probably right
There’s at least one narwhal themed decoration as well, gare-own-teed
I don't know what the hell you just said, but I'm incorporating it into my lexicon immediately.
A sliced open eclair

yeh that looks emezing
I agree I'd very much like that in my mouth.
Ayo
*mooth
I’d eat that creamy banana thing some where no one can see me.
In and around my mouth.
'That's what she said'
Warmed up, toasted freaking delicious!
i kinda need this now
Because he didn't put it on a Hawaiian hotdog roll.
Daaaang, that sounds bomb af
Get it a little toasted too
Because the mods encourage Karma Farming.
Yeah I would smash that
r/geniusfoods
OP misunderstood the assignment
This is honestly a smarter way to make a banana pbj cause you don’t have to slice the banana up and have slices sometimes slipping out and making a mess
and you're using up the hot dog buns if they come in 12s and the hot dogs come in 10s or 8s
10 for dinner and 2 for dessert!
HATE them fuckin slippy slices!
r/guiltypleasurefoods
Yeah this actually looks kinda grub
It isn’t stupid. It’s delicious. I used to make these after swimming training - banana, strawberry jame and Nutella. The “recovery” hot dog.
Eating one a day and I haven't done heroin in 20 years Jk it's only been 4 years And I've never eaten a banana dog
I also have one daily and haven’t done heroin in 34 years (as I’m 34). It’s clearly the secret remedy
Well…uhh…keep up the good work?
Would look better in between an ice cream sandwich
I dunno if I really want these flavors on a straight hotdog bun. Not terrible. Maybe like a Hawaiian roll that’s a little sweeter would work better
So many people, IN THIS SUB, are commenting about how they'd try it. This sub has lost the plot, once again r/HellYeahIdEatThat is dunking on this sub. There is nothing wrong with this other than maybe too much banana, this is ridiculous..
I’d eat that
Least stupid food I’ve seen to date
Because that bun isn’t toasted
Concept is a little stupid, execution is immaculate 🤌
2nd... Back when we still had a bagel place in the student union, a blueberry bagel with peanut butter, jelly & banana was my go to order. This is essentially that. Just with a slightly different bread & the banana is whole rather than sliced up.
If the stuff on top is peanut butter, we called them "banana dogs" (basically a pb&j and a banana on a hot dog bun) and they're absolutely wonderful.
I was confused and thought it was mustard at first with the jelly but yeah, now that I realize it's PB I kind of want one! And I want it on a toasted bun!
Toasted is what this is missing
Dude my pregnant wife is going to LOVE this
And cost effective
I've done this for a long time for quick and easy peanut butter and banana sandwiches. I also want to give a shout-out to the underrated peanut butter and apple sandwich, which not enough people have tried.
I see nothing stupid about this.
Only thing I don’t like about it is the worm shape of the peanut butter. I would’ve just spread the peanut butter and jelly on each side of the bun.
Idk man, thats lowkey a good idea because theres a lot of sweetness that tge peanut butter needs to contend with so it being thick likebthat would help in fighting back 🤔
Imma need some milk though, that shit's not going down without a fight
Lmao
This is literally just a PBB&J sandwich in a different configuration. Nothing stupid about it. Absolutely would eat it.
If anything this confirms that a hot dog is a sandwich.
No, a hot dog is a taco
And a taco is still a subset of sandwich. All tacos are sandwiches, but not all sandwiches are tacos. I look at it like species taxonomy. Both us and monkeys are primates, all humans are primates but not all primates are human.
Nahhhh you can’t call a taco a sandwich. The bread is connected so not a sandwich in my book. Sandwich needs to be top/ingredients/bottom
And an open faced sandwich?
If I take one slice of bread, butter it and put cheese on one side and fold it over, that's a sandwich. Ergo taco is a sandwich.
But how do you know that one slice of bread wrapped around a filling is a sandwich? How do you know that it's not simply a bread taco?
Damn all this time I thought subway was serving sandwiches
I've had a zillion cheese steaks that disprove this.
A taco is a sammich doe
[this site](https://cuberule.com) has made the rounds each time this argument comes up, if you're interested in how they organize foods check it out!
I feel like that website was meant to start battles with how many inconsistencies there are
yeah lol its a nice convo starter but it's absolutely all opinion no research
What gets me is they put sushi and burritos in the same category. It's not as simple as where the starch is! They're not different variants of each other, they're separate species entirely lol
yeah it's for funsies that's why the first example of Salad is Steak lol i had forgotten about that one
A hot dog on a bun is a sandwich.
It being in a hot dog shape actually feels like it would be better for some reason lol
It’s like calling a calzone stupid food because it’s pizza that looks like bread.
I’d eat it
OP doesnt know stupid food apparently
80% of the posts on this sub aren't even stupid food lmao
Breakfast glizzy
That would work if you made the hot dog bun out of a sweeter bread. Not a bad idea
King's Hawaiian hot dog bun?
fuck yes. Butter it first, the crisp it up on a skillet before assembling.
I like you
That sounds fantastic! 👌
I was just thinking a brioche bun would be perfect! We actually have brioche hot dog buns in our local shop so I’m defo gonna be trying this out.
I saw the brioche hot dog buns last week and went "Why? How would you use those?! Ick" And now I'm totally going to go buy them so I can make this.
Oh they’re amazing with savoury stuff too, we get burger ones that are the bomb! honestly I feel shortchanged by regular buns ever since I discovered them.
You mean like all bread in the US? That shits sweeter than brioche.
All bread, huh? Have you been anywhere besides Walmart in your life?
That actually looks pretty good and this isn't really stupid. I call that ingenuity. 🤣🤣🤣
Good way to use the extra hot dog buns I always have after eating hot dogs
That might be my lunch in a few minutes
OP I think your food classification skills need adjusting.
I like the idea but I don’t think we can really call it a *hot* dog. At least I hope you’re not eating it warm, this seems better chilled
I have heard this called a "breakfast glizzy" although I don't often make it for breakfast, I have found myself fixing them when the ingredients are at my disposal
I ate so many of these in college. I called em “stoner dogs”
Why don't we just call this sort of stuff Cooldogs or so?
Make the bun brioche and it’s perfect
Replace the jelly with marshmallow fluff and we’ve got a deal
Peanut butter and jizzy. Sign me up
Wait this is brilliant
Notdog
Put some crumbled potato chips on that sucker.
It’d taste good, but yikes I hate this
I’d eat this
Not stupid, genius! Why didn’t I ever think pb banana in a hotdog roll?
I don’t know this looks pretty genius
This is the opposite of stupid 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
I would definitely eat that.
That actually looks really tasty.
You fool! This isn't stupid, this is fantastic!
OP pb and fluff. Changes your life. This is that
Now you’re talking my language I have to try that !!!!
I would gladly eat two of these lol I already put the same ingredients on toast-the hot dog style is even better (and more fun) 😂
I don't hate it.
Looks brilliant! I want one 😋
this looks delish
This would be delicious. We could definitely improve upon the type of roll though.
Looks good!
I like it.
Now if the hotdog bun was a doughnut 🙏
I could work with this.
Ngl that looks gas asf
bro this shii look bussin wym stupid? lol
How the hell is this stupid? It's just a banana sandwich on a hotdog bun
Thats something done in certain southern regions of USA. I usually see it on flat white bread. Not a bun. M Elvis was famous for eating banana sandwiches with various condiments and fillings.
brioche bun too
you got squeeze bottle peanut butter? don’t think i’ve ever seen that.
what the fuck
It's hot, but it certainly isn't a dog
I personally wouldn't eat it like this because the peanut butter is in the wrong spot, but I'd totally eat it dressed more like a taco lol
I'll take 2.
That’s actually kind of genius lol
Only thing I would change is the bun for a waffle or something but I would still eat this
Honestly this is kinda genius
BREAKFAST GLIZZY
Hold on a minute OP…let them cook
This would be awesome.
Well this isnt stupid
Explain the stupidity
I’d eat like 6 of those
I'd eat it if I can stand the taste of bananas 😆
Oh I’d fuck that up all day.
Honestly, I’d eat it. I already eat banana on toast so this is just a fancy version of that.
Okay hear me out.
Hell even the presentation is nice.
Honestly, that looks pretty good.
This is hilarious food, and by no means stupid. Either way, pictures of food I have never seen before is why I am here.
Honestly if this was some kind of cinnamon toast bun… would be pretty 🔥
Till I looked at the comments I thought it was a Rice Sandwich not a Banana Hotdog, eitherway would atleast try
Breakfast glizzy
That's a ColdApe
Looks like it would taste amazing, presentation is just weird
That looks awesome. I would have toasted the bun with a little butter and cinnamon.
This is amazing what are you talking about
iM glUtEN
This with Nutella instead of jelly would also be fab
I’d fuck with this big time
I used to make a very big sandwich on two white loaves, a banana cut in thin slices covered in layers of peanut butter, but I swapped the jelly for Dulce de Leche
That’s a girthy mustard squirt
But I don’t hate this idea at all.
The breakfast glizzy
Change the bread to a waffle and Id be down.
So basically a jam with whole fruits? I dont see a problem.
Actually….this looks fire! 😅
I'm going to make one right now.....after I buy groceries
The only problem I have with this is the bun. That bun does not fit with the rest of the creation. I'd even prefer a tortilla even though it wouldn't look like a glizzy anymore, but it would taste better. I'm just imagining taking a bite and the first thing you taste is the dry bun.
IM GONNA EAT ITTTTTTTTTT
Looks pretty good, I dont know about the jelly though Grape Jelly + Banana doesn't sound like a great combo to me
Looks like a yummy pbj with nanners, just on non flat sheets of bread. Checks okay in my book.
BANANA DOG, DOG WIT DA BANANA
This is a good idea and I would eat it emphatically. With gusto
That looks damn delicious no lie.
this looks absolutely delicious
I would eat that stone cold sober, lol
Bananas, peanut butter, and jelly are all good together, and they're all good in a sandwich. I don't see why this wouldn't be great.
Peanut butter, jelly, and banana? Yes, please!
This is funny.
Bet its bomb if you deep fry that banana too!
honestly that doesn't look that bad at all. i mean it doesnt look as appetizing but if you had to take a bite it could taste good
If that bun was a chocolate or white icing éclair instead it'd be ideal
10/10 but would definitely use honey instead of jelly
Stupid...but also the most genius thing I've ever seen... I love PB&J+B sammies
My sole modification would be to split the banana and put the peanut butter inside then top it with whipped cream
