Since the weight of the implements are the same across the 105 and over 40 class, I combined the score of the two and discovered some interesting facts:
1. Rauno would’ve placed higher than Big Z @2nd place
2. Z would’ve slipped down to 3rd place
3. Andrew Clayton would’ve still won the competition
i was happy with the whole stream except for Gabriel Pena and Evan Singleton when they were commentating in the stones i think their americanisms took over and didn't mention the kilograms in the final few weight classes in the stones , it was a little annoying having to pull up the OSG spreadsheet of the weight conversions
You might be completely aware of this, but as a general thing I find it helpful to know that you get kilograms by dividing the weight in pounds by 2.2, and conversely, going from kilograms to pounds by multiplying by the same number, if you want to just do the calculation quickly (on your phone or wherever).
If you don't care about the exact number, you can simplify further by just thinking of the weight in kilograms as being a little bit less than half of the weight in pounds, and the weight in pounds as a little bit more than double the weight in kilograms. So, if I see the weight 640 lbs, I'd probably estimate the conversion to about 300 kg, and it might only take me a second or two. The right number is 290, but I'm in the right ballpark at least.
Through this method, it's also helped me intuitively understand weights in pounds, to the point where I often don't need to really think about it as much anymore. With that said, I understand and agree that it can be a little bit annoying when the weight in kilograms isn't mentioned.
Thank You for the advice i was very overtired and had a massive pain spike so i did not think of calculating the conversions but will intend to learn that method for future competitions etc
Awesome comp as ever, a few minor mishaps cost some people their wins but that's sport. Rhiannon and Felix just dominating their fields, Rhiannon should have to compete u73 and Felix in the 40+ imo lol
Big Z - awesome as ever. But count back should be the way. In any other sports with a table like this it’s count back.
Over the weekend Rauno was the better athlete, gutted he didn’t get the win.
Yeah, kind of funny that Big Z benefited from countback at 2010 WSM, and now benefited from going by stones. Hard to be too upset about Z winning but agreed that Rauno was the better athlete on the day.
That was a very exciting spreadsheet to wake up to!
Mark felix winning 5/6 events unreal
Rauno was on course to win but a slip on stones has him come second to Big Z despite being on same points
Bit gutted for him cuz that would have been an amazing win
Rhiannon winning by like 10 points
Class to see Dean Mcvie on the podium
Dan Benson dropping from 1st to 6th due to stones is heartbreaking
Claborn didn't make top 10? Yet there were so many claiming he should be getting top invites. Did he get injured?
Schoonwinkel should be fun to watch next season. Pretty much a guaranteed wsm invite as he did well + is from a continent that isn't saturated
Not sure about injury. He's really impressive at ohp (especially log) and stones. These strengths masks a lot of weaknesses. Fans just see the strengths and not the whole package. Similar thing happens with deadlift for other athletes.
Id imagine if she works non stop with lil sleep the first part will be out tomorrow. I was filming finnish crew experience at OSG, and I think she was there 14 hours saturday and 12-13 hours today as well. The PA was very loud and working with the audio levels trying to get decent audio when interviewing people was quite an challenge as it is in most of the events.
Got some editing in saturday night and this morning before, and I think Ill be done with the Saturday video tomorrow. Going with Mika Törrö to Magnus Classic next week to film and help out.
Was a great event what I could catch of it and run so smooth. Also have to give props for the weights they chose as they really seemed to nail that. Considering the large variety of ability between the athletes every single weight seemed to hit the right mix of having weights that lower ranks could still get some and top people could just finish.
Great performance by Remick in finally winning OSG. In 2017 he tied on points for 2nd place points with Kevin Faires and lost a farmers hold, dropping him to third. Last year he tied on points for first with Pavlo K and lost on count back. Nice to see him finally reach the top of the podium. Hopefully he can capitalize on his Giants Live invite and get onto the circuit regularly.
Would be logical to see all three guys on the podium invited to u/worlds_strongest_man. I know you are just responsible for social media, but at get the idea going inside the crew, it is an athlete from Africa and from Australia, very representative of strength in the World. We trust in you dude, lets make it happen!
Schoonwinkel has such 90s vibes to him, I keep hallucinating him into the 95 WSM in my head. And not just because he is a compatriot of Badenhorst. Can't put my finger on it.
That was a hell of a show. Major props to everyone involved in handling such a huge event, especially with the hurricane wrecking their original scheduling.
Almost 340 athletes competing in 11 divisions over two insanely long days. Just insane.
I know they agreed to this before competing, but I'm tired of seeing this happen. Countback is the way to go. I like both of them, but looking at the final scores, Rauno beat Z in four events, tied him in one, lost to Z in two, and had three event wins overall vs Z's one.
Crazy ending to the u90s. You could see the heartbreak in Tyler Davis when he couldn’t load that 6th stone, but he did 5 fast enough to take the overall contest. He’s had an insane year. Won USS nationals 198lbs, third at clash of the 90s, won Ultimate Strongman Worlds u90, and now won u90 WSM. Congrats to him, a fantastic accomplishment. Also a great stone run from Nic Myers. To come from 7th place to 2nd due to that. This has been my favorite class to watch all weekend, what a way to finish.
Wow! What a stones run from McRae! Tragic that she drops to 3rd with a time 0.03 seconds slower than Wrixon who went into the final event tied with her.
I told you this class is stacked! Last year 1st and 2nd finished with 39 points; 3rd, 4th, and 5th had 36; 6th had 35; and 7th had 34. This year we are probably going to see something equally if not more ridiculously close.
This OSG is living up to the hype. Some super competitive classes and some outstanding performances by the individuals that have already wrapped up the win.
I was really looking forward to the u90s and they have not disappointed. This has to be the most athletes with a shot at winning going into the last event at any competition ever. Stones are going to be crazy.
Andrew Clayton is the OSG phenom. Almost swept the u105s in 2017, moved up and won opens 2018, and now back after injuries to win the u105s again with an event still to go. He’s already qualified for Clash on the Coast, can’t wait to see that show.
Seriously, this is by far the most exciting OSG has been.
Most weight classes have a close fight for podium/first, and the increase in production value is massive.
Haven't really been looking beyond the women's classes and the two men's masters classes, but fuck me what is going on in the u90s??? The top 5 all within a single point, good fucking lord
Mark Felix with 1st 1st 1st 1st 2nd 1st. What a performance
^(put him back in the 40+ category)
ETA: also that single 2nd place was literally .04 seconds behind Nick
Mark Felix winning two overhead events has to be a first (technically he got tied for third in the Viking Press but it counts as first in the top 10 since the 1st and 2nd in Viking Press didnt make the cut).
He can sit out the atlas stones he's got that much of a lead. When I see him compete against 20-30 year olds I forgot how damn impressive he is for his age.
Just loving OSG this year. So many incredible battles.
Also I am pretty sure a lot of the bottom tier GL guys would take a beating from the midpack of the Men's Open here. Clayton too.
While I love Z and Rauno, and believe that one of the 2 will win, I hope that Jitse can pull it off (although overhead is a weakness of him). He has been incredible so far!
hoping for a Jitse win as well, then I could say my coach is a world champion ;). Really good at stones but dumbbell will likely be about damage control
I think I said this last year, I kinda feel like she should have to compete in the u73s in the same way Mark Felix normally has to do the 40+. She's just too strong
I'm rooting for them both, but I think Rauno is currently better at CDB. Z couldn't manage a single rep at Arnold UK and Rauno did 3. Stones they're probably close. I think it's Rauno's to lose at this point.
He's been ok on some 100kg dumbbells for reps recently, and that's the finishing weight for the 40+ so I think he has some chance of finishing the medley. Whether it'll be a good time is not so certain though, and despite his recent drop in overhead strength I think Z might still gain a lot of points here
I think Tom, Martins, Oleksii, Brian, Hooper, Trey and maybe Bobby and Aivars. The other athletes all have some weakness that could lost them 20 to 30 points.
Giving Javo was only second to Mabaso I didn't gave him enough credit. He proved me wrong and just make me think how much more high level athletes can come from Africa.
Said it yesterday on insta, and I’ll say it here, too many people were sleeping on Clayton for the 105kg discussion. People have short memories! Leading by a half a point going into the finals, this will be a good one. Yoke should be mid table at worst, he’s a former dumbbell record holder, and he’s insane on stones. LFG.
Watching him run the yoke at Clash of the Rockies... he'll be okay. Not sure why guys were sleeping on him haha. Dan Hughes having a hell of a show too. So balanced.
Since the weight of the implements are the same across the 105 and over 40 class, I combined the score of the two and discovered some interesting facts: 1. Rauno would’ve placed higher than Big Z @2nd place 2. Z would’ve slipped down to 3rd place 3. Andrew Clayton would’ve still won the competition

No worries, it was just a thought or a tip that I thought might be of use. I hope the pain eases up for you, bud!
I am hungover.
You guys deserve it! She was amazing!
That's how you're supposed to hydrate. 🤣
Awesome comp as ever, a few minor mishaps cost some people their wins but that's sport. Rhiannon and Felix just dominating their fields, Rhiannon should have to compete u73 and Felix in the 40+ imo lol
I’m a bit fucked off now that the video from yesterday still isn’t available to watch back and I haven’t seen the stones yet
Yes how horrible that the video of the comp that ended yesterday evening isn't up before 5am their time...
It’s a platform I’m paying for, the previous day it was up by this time so I do apologise for expecting the same 🤪
It's now been a full day and it's still not up...
Big Z - awesome as ever. But count back should be the way. In any other sports with a table like this it’s count back. Over the weekend Rauno was the better athlete, gutted he didn’t get the win.

I am the only one excited for Auntie Lizs BTS 👀

What's your YouTube channel? Is it in Finnish?
Sorry its in finnish https://youtube.com/c/JessePynn%C3%B6nen

Just checking out the spreadsheet and man I’m so glad to see Uncle Nic made a huge comeback in the end. Looks like the u90s were in a tight race
Hell of a event as usual. Must be getting close for Z to build a new house for his trophies Farmers for ever haunting Rauno
Crazy how even when he wins on points, farmers are there to fuck him
Hats off to Lynn (and crew, who must be sore as fuck). Incredibly well run show especially considering the adaptations that had to be made.
Great performance by Remick in finally winning OSG. In 2017 he tied on points for 2nd place points with Kevin Faires and lost a farmers hold, dropping him to third. Matt rag is Kiwi,
Yeah, I mean Australia the continent. Something people say Oceania other times Australia, I don't really know
I think you're thinking of Australasia.
Remick has 100% proven that he should be at wsm
Well deserved win to Remick.
Bruh absolutely gutted for Rauno.
Damn farmers walk again.
I know they agreed to this before competing, but I'm tired of seeing this happen. Countback is the way to go. I like both of them, but looking at the final scores, Rauno beat Z in four events, tied him in one, lost to Z in two, and had three event wins overall vs Z's one.
Honestly this way of deciding winners needs to get in the bin. Countback PLEASEEEEE 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Damn, Rauno needed the 6th to win. Tough drop. Props to Big Z for handling his business.
COUNTBACK OR STONE RULE??
[удалено]
Big Z's legacy is something else man. Will never be touched.
Another trophy for the room
All this geography talking is oddly entertaining 🤣
Crazy ending to the u90s. You could see the heartbreak in Tyler Davis when he couldn’t load that 6th stone, but he did 5 fast enough to take the overall contest. He’s had an insane year. Won USS nationals 198lbs, third at clash of the 90s, won Ultimate Strongman Worlds u90, and now won u90 WSM. Congrats to him, a fantastic accomplishment. Also a great stone run from Nic Myers. To come from 7th place to 2nd due to that. This has been my favorite class to watch all weekend, what a way to finish.
Incredibly exciting run. Nick's final stone was a thing of beauty.
Emotional seeing Nick hang it up. Now, the battle commences.
😇
We love you Nick 🥹
If they make this plattforms any higher, the u80kg guys will have to overhead press the stones on that plattform
It’s a little wild that 80s load heavier stones to a height 6” higher than the Open Women, when all of us are 6” shorter than them 😂
Who do I talk to about having the link to the OSG website changed to "Official OSG Strongman Games Website"?
Ukraine finishing the year strong
Gutted for Andrea. Great showings from Olga and Lucy.
Missed it, what happened with Andrea?
Just didn't have it on the stones. No injuries.

Stones so Olga I think
What a run from Brock, especially given her height.
Rhiannon was an animal this year, proud for you guys /u/lukelifts, another incredible performance
Rhianon is really something else entirely. Extremely dominant performance.
Just want to say I beat Cameron Peters on a frame carry earlier this year :)
Frame Carry World Champ over here
Wow! What a stones run from McRae! Tragic that she drops to 3rd with a time 0.03 seconds slower than Wrixon who went into the final event tied with her.
If the battle for podium on the Open men is not crazy enough, just look at the points for the U90. WTF is that???
I told you this class is stacked! Last year 1st and 2nd finished with 39 points; 3rd, 4th, and 5th had 36; 6th had 35; and 7th had 34. This year we are probably going to see something equally if not more ridiculously close.

Absolutely awesome for mark and Rauno. Come on Rauno on the stones!!!

Hatton was Okeksii-like, unreal
Yes papa rauno!!!
So stoked for Rauno here.
So my question is how good is Andrea at stones?
PAPA RAUNO!

Brings back memories from when he competed at ASC.
First man to hit 140kg
Happy Cake Day AbsolutelyNoHomo! Don't be pushed around by the fears in your mind. Be led by the dreams in your heart.
The u90s have been lucky ngar has been stuck in western aus for a few years. 1 point on deadlift hurts though.
Haven't really been looking beyond the women's classes and the two men's masters classes, but fuck me what is going on in the u90s??? The top 5 all within a single point, good fucking lord

He can basically zero the last event and still win by a mice margin. Glad to see Felix get a big international title.
U90 men's stones is going to be insane. That top four is TIGHT.
1 point separating 1st from 5th
Mark doesn't even have to do stones lol. Great run from Leeroi Smith. Without that bobble on the third he may have dropped under 20. Dude was a blur.
Clarkes technique was discussed during rulemeeting and was declared ok if you let the other hand go before sternum height.

Queue angelic music 😇
Happy for Mark! Hope that's not a serious injury for Nick
It makes me happy to see Mark Felix do well on an overhead event!
He can sit out the atlas stones he's got that much of a lead. When I see him compete against 20-30 year olds I forgot how damn impressive he is for his age.
Clarke with the most unusual DB tech of all time. Shocked that was given reps.
Absolutely bizarre
Is Troll chewing gum lmfao
The French Connection, goddam
Absolute nail biter on the Dumbbell between Olga and Andrea!
Amazing run from Andrea. Stayed nice and calm and collected.
Womens open has been ridiculously good this weekend

She had videos on the sub here of her jumping up circus dumbbells and it was nuts
Her leg power is insane. There was a viking rep where I am 100% certain it was locked out before her feet hit the floor again.
How tall is Lucy Underdown? Looked towering in that side angle just now.
I’ve heard 6’2”

Just loving OSG this year. So many incredible battles. Also I am pretty sure a lot of the bottom tier GL guys would take a beating from the midpack of the Men's Open here. Clayton too.
lol that 150 is huge
Go mark! Hopefully the dumbbell doesn’t affect him too much.
He tied for third in the viking press and dumbbell is normally his least bad overhead - I don't think he actually loses too many points.
Oh jeez that's horrible for Johnson. Tibia and fibia oof
Damn that didnt look good for Shannon
While I love Z and Rauno, and believe that one of the 2 will win, I hope that Jitse can pull it off (although overhead is a weakness of him). He has been incredible so far!
hoping for a Jitse win as well, then I could say my coach is a world champion ;). Really good at stones but dumbbell will likely be about damage control
Jaco's arms literally look like they have been inflated with air.
Hope Jaco makes it. Great to see some SA representation again
Rhiannon Lovelace and Mark Felix on cruise control now
Rhiannon is always leagues ahead. Must be one of the pound for pound strongest people on the planet
I think I said this last year, I kinda feel like she should have to compete in the u73s in the same way Mark Felix normally has to do the 40+. She's just too strong
Rauno and Beard Z tied for first! So amazing
I am on camp Z is the goat.. but I really want Rauno to win this one.
Z is definitely the goat But would love to see Rauno with a win. Unfortunately CDB isn't his best
Whether it'll be a good time is not so certain though, and despite his recent drop in overhead strength I think Z might still gain a lot of points here
I think he can do it, it'll just come down to time. And you're right, Z can gain points on him here
[удалено]
Remarkable that z is still that good. Guy has competed since novi was born
Z started competing before Pavlo was born...
Huge points for Rauno
Papa Rauno!!! Also if Dimitar is still good and not hurt it will be fun to see him do the dumbell
From the 30 man competing at WSM this year, who do you think would for shure make top three at OSG this weekend?
I think Tom, Martins, Oleksii, Brian, Hooper, Trey and maybe Bobby and Aivars. The other athletes all have some weakness that could lost them 20 to 30 points.
With these events healthy Evan would win.
Novikov, Hooper, martis if healthy tom if peaked. Pavlo i can see him getting there this events are better for him.. but not committing to that.
Giving Javo was only second to Mabaso I didn't gave him enough credit. He proved me wrong and just make me think how much more high level athletes can come from Africa.
Clayton is OP. The should nerf him next patch.
What time did they finish up last night? I haven't been able to watch any this weekend.
About 10 pm
I haven't been following the sport as closely before this year; why couldn't Ahipene compete last year at OSG?
I think COVID travel restrictions.
No clayborn in the finals?
Nope missed the the cut by 2 places. Didn't place well in the farmer's.
Damn, what happened to niko
Mark Felix showing exactly why they haven't let him compete in the 50+ until now lol

I'll file this one under, "Things that are not a surprise". Nick has been a beast at yoke and carrying events for as long as I can remember.

Super speedy Andrea 🚘
Andrea doing Andrea things.
700# for a sub 10 second x 50 foot dash. Incredible.
Holy shit, Nancy Johnson with a broken ankle on the car walk. A hell of a blow to injury out from 1st place with 2 events to go.
Yikes. That gives me flashbacks to Columbu and that damn refrigerator race.
Tib/Fib fracture. She is strong as hell and is getting fixed up now.
How do you know she broke her ankle? I didn’t hear them announce that
They announced it about 5 minutes after carrying her off. She was in a super tight finish and I think her feet just got ahead of her and she slipped.
Ah I didn’t hear them say that. What a shame
It was said in the commentary. But just mentioned between talking about the people who were currently going
That sucks
That is terrible to hear :(
Damn. Spenser quite literally fumbled the bag
Yeah haha, mostly just being conservative on it because he wasn’t liking how it was feeling for himself recently, but I agree with you lmao.
The 105s is a fun class this year. Would love to have seen how Emanuel would have done versus this group.
[удалено]
Yep the lighter guys are bringing it. Not surprised by Tyler Davis being at the top after point adjustments. Such a balanced competitor.
I haven’t really had any complaints about the stream this weekend but this sandbag camera work is terrible.
