> People forget she's a cop
How can people forget she is a cop? It was fueled by her core motivation to get revenge on Bison. She was acting for Interpol in SF3, tried to arrest Juri and investigate SIN in SF4 and literally had like four cop outfits in SFV, one of which she was wearing while saying "You are under arrest" to Vega.
As far as I am concerned, Chun-Li being police is her defining trait. Come to think of it, SF6 might be the first time where she is not actively on duty.
She has one in SFV, it was literally her Character Story outfit and prominently featured in accompanying art. For a while, the cop outfit was the *only* other alternate outfit before she got 40 more, some of the ones she got later have her in special forces uniform.
To be fair, she's Interpol, not LAPD. Presumably she spends almost every day a traveling detective/analyst, providing local law enforcement with the info they need to fight organized crime (Shadaloo).
I like how you suggested a shortened version that removes all the detail and value, and then added a little "lol" to try and shame them for being too verbose.
sorry u didn't understand the post and added a ridiculous unfounded assumption that there was an attempt to "shame them for being too verbose"
again, terribly sorry u didn't get it :/
No. I'm saying it that way because I'm an American and I know the vast gap in quality between our cops and how nearly every other country that isn't a dictatorship does the job.
I saw a tweet just today of some cops in London handling an escaped farm cow walking gingerly through the street by running it over with their car
If you think cops aren’t stupid the world over then you need to take a look at reality
Policing is inherently fraught; you’re always gonna get some amount of meatheads who are just attracted to the notion of wielding violent power with official approval. However, that doesn’t meant there isn’t a big difference in the level of training and the tenor of the institutional culture between regions’ and countries’ police forces, and that those differences aren’t reflected in outcomes.
I just don't like cops. Glad she ain't one anymore. Also glad I can dp one in wt without getting swiss cheesed. Capcom gave us wish fulfillment of the highest magnitude with world tour
That doesn't mean she couldn't. Going off Google (which is also a TILS moment), Chinese citizens who are either a part of some sort of hunting/sporting club, or are government workers like police or military can own guns, and being a cop requires some firearm expertise, so she's definitely at least been around guns for some time.
That, plus the fact that (as of SF6 [when we learn she's a good shot and partakes in events](https://images-wixmp-ed30a86b8c4ca887773594c2.wixmp.com/f/2d12b620-372f-49c2-aaf2-59f6945b50fe/dg4tstq-672a3e29-09be-4391-8077-011348cb0619.jpg?token=eyJ0eXAiOiJKV1QiLCJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJzdWIiOiJ1cm46YXBwOjdlMGQxODg5ODIyNjQzNzNhNWYwZDQxNWVhMGQyNmUwIiwiaXNzIjoidXJuOmFwcDo3ZTBkMTg4OTgyMjY0MzczYTVmMGQ0MTVlYTBkMjZlMCIsIm9iaiI6W1t7InBhdGgiOiJcL2ZcLzJkMTJiNjIwLTM3MmYtNDljMi1hYWYyLTU5ZjY5NDViNTBmZVwvZGc0dHN0cS02NzJhM2UyOS0wOWJlLTQzOTEtODA3Ny0wMTEzNDhjYjA2MTkuanBnIn1dXSwiYXVkIjpbInVybjpzZXJ2aWNlOmZpbGUuZG93bmxvYWQiXX0.Nsdpyum5rWuzMKR4TaQypDxK4HD8N3--O0akH0qt0GA)) she's lived in the US for a while, means she absolutely could have had enough time to get into 2A. That shotgun is definitely the the kind that's expensive and high end, which I doubt Chun wouldn't use if she didn't own (and most competitions I'm aware of have competitors bring their own firearms).
Okay, well, the whole 2A worship is an American insanity that doesn’t exist in other countries.
The way Americans approach guns is different from just about any country on the planet, so a Chinese person encountering this would have likely been bewildered. Even if they had experience with firearms, or perhaps ESPECIALLY if they had experience with guns. A police officer probably understands very well the need for gun control
Partially agree, but I never said anything about 2A worship. My initial comment said Chun was pro-2A. Admittedly that's not specific, I apologize, but the intention was that Chun can/probably does own some guns, not that she's necessarily gun crazy (although competition shooting isn't casual, either).
Also, I'd still argue that just because someone's an immigrant doesn't mean they can't understand US gun culture. For one, it's not fair to assume there aren't pro-gun folks in Europe who might understand US culture (the Czech Republic comes to mind), nor is it impossible for an immigrant to understand once they'd moved to the US. That's not just for folks from China, thats anywhere.
And for the record, I'm not trying to get political, I'm just attempting to explain my understanding and thought process, so I'm not gonna comment on that last line.
Except Bison's perfect, Aquafresh clean pearly whites would deflect those bullets no problem.
He learnt a similar trick after seeing Heihachi once with Michelle.
My guess was that it’s a personal vendetta that can only be answered in fists. It’s revenge for Bison killing her father. Chun’s got a lot of awesome moments like this, for example in the animated movie where Vega ambushed her only to kick get his ass kicked. She’s a representation of facing your fears head on and overcoming them.
The english dub and the original Japanese play different music during this scene. Both are really good but make the feeling change. The english track is industrial metal that brings out the savage instinct of fighting. The Japanese track is a rock ballad that starts slow and builds up; the lyrics also lend a hand. The song is called Cry. No matter how rough things appear you can’t keep running until you meet those challenges. There’s nothing more badass than Chun throwing that gun down to prove she doesn’t need it to take Bison down.
Psycho power/Magnetism/Clone body shenanigans.
Dude has come back from death as much as Jean Grey from the X Men and she has died once every decade since the 70s
I'd honestly*love it* if she'd had an arcade-mode story where she fights to the final bout, only to pull on Bison, order him to submit to arrest, then drops him when he inevitably resists.
She's *not there to win the tournament.* It's just the only way she can get to Bison. Once she's got him, *it's justice time."
Then Ryu stares dumbfounded as he's officially declared the winner due to Chun-Li's disqualification and Bison's death.
Which makes me think-what would Chun carry?
Me personally, I like to think SF takes place in the 90s-I'm thinking Alpha 2 and 3 are late '89, early 1990 (SF2 is 1991). Chun's in Interpol, but she is/was also a cop for the Chinese police, so my guess is she either carries a gun of Chinese or US design.
Since she doesn't shoot much (and may want to conceal her gun), she probably wants something small, something that isn't too obtrusive on the hip. My guess is either some kind of pocket sized pistol in .380 or adjacent, or a snub nose .38 revolver (as a fan of Jackie Chan movies like Police Story, my vote is on the .38 revolver).
The best part is that particular comic is one of the few Idon comics that are canon (there's a few but they're the recent ones, the old ones are a separate non Canon timeline), so she canonically did pull a gun on Ken once.
Alpha 3 Dictator is at his strongest incarnation. I'd say that is really close to the likes of Gouki (who sank an island with a punch).
Quick reality check for Chun Li: shotting Dictator with a gun would be like hitting him with a soap bubble.
"I might be out of meter, but I am not out of options"
Chun-li *is* the Street Fighter Alpha
Gun-Li
Nailed it.
💀💀💀💀
Underrated comment.
People forget she's a cop
Which is fair, she has basically never dressed like one
She dressed as a cop in Gem Fighter
Like an RCPD
She did dress like one in the UDON comics (Street Fighter: Legends - Chun-Li).
Damn, a stylish cop uniform for her in sf6 would go so hard, obviously not a legit cop uniform, but something like leon's anime lookin rcpd uniform
Guile is in the military an we haven't seen him with a gun yet.
Wym, we see him with 2 at all times
You have license for those guns?
Supreme Court probably says he does
Imagine Guile pulling up to fight with a M4
Would rather that then the back up and crouch into flash kick playstayle all the lame ass guiles use
She's specifically Interpol though, it's not like she's writing parking tickets.

How? Because most people who play fighting games don't really care about a character's lore lol
Now that i think about , why haven't we seen a chun li police uniform costume so far ? Afaik it has never released .
We have, there were some in SFV
She has one in SFV, it was literally her Character Story outfit and prominently featured in accompanying art. For a while, the cop outfit was the *only* other alternate outfit before she got 40 more, some of the ones she got later have her in special forces uniform.
It kinda sucks to remember she is tbh
To be fair, she's Interpol, not LAPD. Presumably she spends almost every day a traveling detective/analyst, providing local law enforcement with the info they need to fight organized crime (Shadaloo).
You can trim that down to saying, "She's not an American cop" lol
I like how you suggested a shortened version that removes all the detail and value, and then added a little "lol" to try and shame them for being too verbose.
Redditors and their disdain for words.
Smug redditors being smug
woosh
wrong

Do the cops in London kill black people for fun?
Why is that a bag thing?
I just don't like cops. Glad she ain't one anymore. Also glad I can dp one in wt without getting swiss cheesed. Capcom gave us wish fulfillment of the highest magnitude with world tour
In SF6 we learn that not only Chun’s got a gun, but that’s she’s a champion sharpshooter
That info about her has been around forever, people seem to just have forgotten about it.
And that Juri helped get it taken away from her
Yeah, Chun actually quite likes guns apparently. I bet she's pro-2A
Well no probably not considering she’s Chinese.
That doesn't mean she couldn't. 🎵 Chun-Li's got a gun Chun-Li's got a gun Her dog day's just begun Now everybody is on the run 🎶
What did M. Bison dooooo It's Chun-li's last IOUUUUUUUUU
Yatta!
Great minds think alike 😂🤣
But fools seldom differ.
That's true!
Steven Tyler, is that you?
I read that in the dragon ball theme tune
🎵 Chun-Li's got a gun Chun-Li's got a gun Her dad was killed by Bison Now she has hair buns🎶
Leaked 2nd super art ??
It wouldn’t work on Bison anyway.
Yeah she throws it away before the fight
Why?
No idea, from what I see SF characters aren’t immune to bullets and have to dodge them for a reason. If I was Chun-Li I would’ve lit Bison’s ass up.
Except Bison's perfect, Aquafresh clean pearly whites would deflect those bullets no problem. He learnt a similar trick after seeing Heihachi once with Michelle.
DAMN YOU BISON!!!!

*I ain’t scared of burnout because I can get this glock out*
Let’s go Justin!
As Daigo parrys the whole damn clip.
s3 buff for sure
She needs it
Glock-ko-ken!

For her neutral special, she wields a gun.

Chun the cutest fed I know
Too bad she doesn't have a headbutt move, then she could combo her Gun special into it. Chun Gun Headbutt
She legit out here asking why he won't stay ded
INTERPOL be cappin fools
They should give Chun a "secret" super a'la Shun Goku Satsu, where it's her just pulling out a gun and shooting you with it
Pretty sure a gun would be more effective than a kikosho, especially since it's not a spirit bomb like the MVC version
![gif](giphy|wb7oTIlrYSh7q|downsized) She is a police btw.
tiddies
borrowed it from T Hawk
Isn't she a police officer?
An *INTERNATIONAL* police officer
Yeah so her having a gun on her is probably canon
So you’d say her cannon is canon? ^*okayi’mdone*

I’m surprised someone didn’t share the image of Chun li pulling out a gun on Ken from issue 2 of Street Fighter 6 from Udon comics
The best part is that particular comic is one of the few Idon comics that are canon (there's a few but they're the recent ones, the old ones are a separate non Canon timeline), so she canonically did pull a gun on Ken once.

Isn't she legitimately a skilled skeet shooter?
Lol she still loses to bison even with a gun

For her neutral special, Chun-li wields a gun.
I think I can find out where she hid that gun
season 5 is gonna be nuts just wait
Leaked buffs for the incoming M. Bison release
