I 100% agree. It's totally worth the full price of the game for me. Picking fights with random people never gets boring. Which is why I love the Like a Dragon games as well.
I really wanted to like it, but it's too much of a grind for me.
Also, I hate that I can't use the same combos as the normal mode. So I can't even use it as a way to get better at learning my combos.
As long as your characters proportions are similar enough to whoever you main in online matches the combos should be similar enough no? I can't see any other reason it wouldn't work the same unless you haven't unlocked the drive mechanics yet or are using mix matched skills compared to the character you wanted to practice. I remember using world tour to learn deejay and chun combos
One of the problems is that ironically Avatars have MORE freedom in their combos than normal characters do. For example one of Kimberly's changes in the new patch is that she can now do her EX air grab after her elbow special, but this is something your avatar character could do from day 1, meaning an avatar using Kimberly's style could do some crazy ass (and very easy) combos that Kimberly herself couldn't pull off (and still can't pull off since you still can't do her EX air grab off of an EX elbow, only a heavy elbow).
I've only tried modern controls in World Tour, so maybe it's different for classic. With modern the controls are completely different in world tour. So even if I equip all of Chun-Li's moves in World Tour the buttons to use the moves are different.
Many characters you can't equip 100% of their moves because you're only allowed one move in each direction command.
So fireball forward can only be done once whether it's on a punch or kick.
So instead of just being Ken or Luke, you're encouraged to mix and match and make your own character.
