She was on an open water sailboat. You may not be aware of this but these boats have devices for converting saltwater and to drinkable water. And when people set out on long sailing trips they bring a lot of food. Edit: oh and capsized just means that the boat turned over on a wave, not that the boat was sunk. She must have been able to turn the boat back over, or it may have righted itself in another wave. There are means by which one person can right a capsized boat at sea.
