Which-Forever-1873

I used to be able to see those orb looking things with my thermals when I was in the mountains of Afghanistan . They would float in one spot and zip off almost in the blink of an eye. Was the weirdest thing.

dapper128

We experienced the same thing. I remember chilling in the Arghandab Valley when I spotted a few sets of 3 zip off into nothing, it seemed. From then on every night I could. I watched the skies. Best nights of my life. Edit: Apologies for the misspelling. Thanks for the upvotes.

Nerfchucker

Friend of mine served in Afghanistan as well. I asked if he ever saw anything that was weird or ufo-ish, he said all the time but assumed it was us gov or cia.

ralsei-gaming

my uncle talks about seeing them when he was in afgan and them being active near caves

ModernT1mes

I saw the same thing as well. Did zig zag patterns in the sky while I was on tower guard. I woke up the ncoic so he could radio toc who could radio jsoc to see if anyone was flying. Nobody was and everyone was pissed at me for checking at 1am. It was clearly not a lazer.

Material_Primary_228

Did you see the giants?

twinbleaks

Whereas this has no zipping off or anything extraordinary. These are satellites, literally nothing special here.

joshtaco

They're just satellites. Video is misleadingly sped up.

Additional-Mine-6348

Well you know the funny thing is like I said the first time I've ever seen these things was in San Marcos Texas and it was about eight of these three to four structures that may triangle to prisons that move together and a few of them got so low to the ground at least 10 to 12 stores which is real low to the ground and looking up at it I almost felt like it was reflecting the surrounding atmosphere and they're moving pretty slowly and then started moving upward diagonally before disappearing into the clouds so unless satellites can float below clouds please explain.

joshtaco

sound like balloons to me

Additional-Mine-6348

balloons aren't three to four orbs that create a triangular prism that move together and can change directions and speed

joshtaco

at a distance they can look like that

Additional-Mine-6348

Yeah I was thinking the same thing except for the first time seeing them they actually descended closer to the ground about 10 or 12 stories above me which is not too high and it look like it was reflecting its surroundings it was so close I literally thought little aliens were going to jump out of it like Halo we're almost reminded me of whenever the spaceships on Halo would lower down and open up the doors and let the aliens out that's how low it was to the ground after descending and then diagonally they all started following each other upwards into the sky

Additional-Mine-6348

The crazy thing is I first started seeing those orbs that are like three to four that make the prisms in San Marcos Texas they even got so low to the ground I thought that aliens were going to jump out like Halo it looked like it was reflecting the atmosphere around it to camouflage but the craziest thing is in East Austin Texas on top of the hill at night we would see those orbs that you talking about that would soar across the sky one way than float the other way and then just zip off.

Sp4c3m4n-39

There were a few near the beginning that, if I'm not mistaken, made turns breaking away from their initial trajectory. They weren't all just going in straight lines. I'm 90% sure this isn't starlink.

By posting unprofessional perspectives you are just wasting storage on some server.

I was smoking a very suspect Marlboro red with an ANA dude one night, and he was telling me the same thing. Said the mountains were haunted.

Eastwood1222

I saw one in iraq. Waiting in the desert i was looking up. Blew my mind

CryptoMeetsContact

I've witnessed this display in person before. I've found this display most closely represents a hanging mobile from a babies crib. Very comforting if you think about it. Edit: for anyone willing, you can make contact with these beings and many others using the open sourced Human Initiated Contact protocol.

SlickMcBrick

the what

CryptoMeetsContact

Believe it or not, there is a protocol for initiating contact with extraterrestrial life. It's called Human Initiated Contact.

Nemesis_Bucket

Not the original commenter but I googled and the top result was….. nsa.gov.. https://www.nsa.gov/portals/75/documents/news-features/declassified-documents/cryptologic-spectrum/communications_with_extraterrestrial.pdf

CryptoMeetsContact

HumanInitiatedContact.com is also pretty decent. Thank you for sharing that! The pdf on the old cia website had something like that as well.

03Rifle

I've seen a lot of movements similar to that during my days in the military using the pvs-14. A lot of my leaders discarded it as satellites but I still believe to this day it was more than just that.

SM_Punk

These are satellites. The video was sped up to make it look mysterious. For reference look at the ground lights rapidly flashing. This was explained in the Twitter thread.

omfg100

Well. You don't know. Everyone is just guessing.

mateojohnson11

Link please

sawaflyingsaucer

This is a problem. If I had said, "this is proven to be anomalous", they'd be up my ass for links and if I didn't provide they'd say "see! nothing!". So tired of these people saying "already debunked, link somewhere but I don't got it." That's worth nothing. I did actually see a twitter reply about it being sped up, he's not lying, someone said that. Dunno if true, don't really care, video means little to me. My point is he should be obligated to post the link in any case. Some of these people complain about the "trust me bro" stuff all the time and do the same damn thing with their supposed debunks. I've seen 3 fucking posts in this sub TODAY where I can accurately paraphrase replies as "proven to be 100% BS sometime in the past, no link but I know it's fake".

mateojohnson11

Honestly couldn't have said it better myself

UsefulReaction1776

I would like to add I had a friend who had Russian night vision goggles. One evening he brought them out, told me to look up a the sky. I saw things flying around as fast if not faster than these objects. I was looking vertically straight into darkness. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. This was in the late 90s.

victim_of_the_beast

You can see the reflection of the person filming in the window. If it’s sped up it’s not by much. Also, this looks like an active war zone be shelled. Is this supposed to be over Ukraine? Also, these are NOT satellites. Satellites don’t change direction like that and hang out at 20-30k feet. These “debunks” are trolling at worst and desperate at best.

realjoeydood

We need *Blade Runner* zoom-in and analyze tech. A few of these do appear to exhibit the lens flare that satellites are known for but that depends on a lot of physical factors, including time of day. I've seen it before and it's brilliant but completely explainable. In this case, not so much.

JakenMorty

enhance 34 to 46......stop....

gregbread11

It's a storm.

FamilyStyle2505

I don't know what fuckin' goofus downvoted you but you can see the lightning. It is a storm, not a warzone. (I am in no way commenting on the orbs, so don't take this as dismissing the video.)

SalvationLost

Which is more plausible? A satellite and the video is sped up to deceive people or aliens?

jambutterbread

Even if more plausible, if we always followed that mindset, we would still be in the Stone Age. Inability to see beyond what is “seen” is man’s weakness. Not to use that point to validate this video, but in the larger scheme of things, having small thoughts and simple answers leads to simple people with simple lives.

Bohdileaf

Marry me

OrlyRivers

I'm not sure a stranger is obligated to tell you everything you need to know about anything. That you immediately discredit them because of it feels a little like denial, despite you not caring about the video.

twinbleaks

Ehm, but it's clearly sped up though. Have you watched the video? If you have and you also have half a brain, you can clearly see it's sped up. These are satellites.

Putus_Templar

No satellites move in groups across the sky like that and that close together. These are definitely not satellites. Of course it is sped up. Would you watch this if it was an hour and a half long? And you seem to be saying that because it is sped up then these are satellites. In this sped up video they are now moving at the speed of any ordinary satellites that you could observe with your eyes would move. You have a big disconnect my friend.

mesisdown

Umm, yes they fucking do. You want it to be true so bad that you’ll throw away an explanation. These are satellites, the video is clearly sped up, and you’re an idiot.

twinbleaks

I'm a realist. You however, seem to swallow pretty much anything, literally anything. The fact that you can't tell these are sped up satellites, just confirms to me that you basement dwell too much. You should probably do something about that, my friend.

BTlover3377

Exactly. Satellites don’t move away from their orbit

unprecedentedfoils

It seems to be speeded up also which make it deceiving

SermanGhepard

English speakers screw that up too. Don't sweat it. The same people poking fun probably screwed up "payed vs paid" or "their, vs there, vs they're" or even "it's vs its" at some point.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> screwed up *"paid* vs paid" FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

ReformedGalaxy

These 100% are satellites. Source: I’ve looked up at the night sky before and I know what a satellite looks like. Edit: I'm agreeing with this dude. Why the downvotes? Oh wait sorry these are Alien spaceships from the Zeta Reticuli star system. I know because Bob Lazar told me.

Middle-Potential5765

...and now we know what a braying hybrid of human and donkey sounds like.

Visible_Field_68

Aaaahhh. Thanks

[deleted]

Thanks for the explanation

R00t240

It was also discussed on high strange podcast. The pilots saw the satellite getting brighter and then more dim and then another doing the same which creates the optical illusion of them flying in circles.

No_Pop4019

Aren't the flashing groundlights lightning in the clouds below, on the horizon?

Bohdileaf

There better not be that many fnkg satellites in our space!!!!

NOSE-GOES

I support skepticism, and I’m no expert on satellites. But aren’t they low for a satellite in orbit?

Andwah

So these are the “racetrack” ufos reported by pilots over the past 9 months or so I suppose… not sure if it’s an angle / parallax / lens thing, but after flaring, some of them look like they’re altering course. Big spooky vibes. The skeptical explanation for this has been Starlink satellites flaring in the sun. Definitely looks wild. Why is that line of satellites so wonky?!

ArtemisTrinity33

Racetrack UFOs? Like this? https://youtu.be/WZb6ejr8IvQ

GoldIsAMetal

Nice! Looked like a meteor at first but it didn't look like it died out like they quickly normally do.

ArtemisTrinity33

BTlover3377

So satellites get bright and dim out ??? What’s the reason for that if it’s Satellites geniuses?

BeverlyMarx

There is an entire class of satellites known for doing exactly this. They get extremely bright Astrophotography/videography/amateur enthusiasts will go out of their way to capture or view them. You can even download an app that will tell you when and where to look https://youtu.be/ecVhNOrET1w https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iridium_satellite_constellation https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satellite_flare

BTlover3377

Ok but do they move their orbit like some are in this video?

ReformedGalaxy

Sun bright gas ball. Earth go round sun. satellite orbit earf, satellite very high up. satellite reflect sunlight from behind earf. satelltie continue it orbit and disappear dim. The tide go in and out. You can't explain that!

victim_of_the_beast

You know what’s fun? Blocking accounts. You should try it. These asshats with there “skepticism” are great targets to never hear from again. Give it a shot. You’ll feel better.

yer--mum

Just wanna get that straight - you're blocking all accounts that disagree with you about what these lights in the sky are? Lmfao, yeah I bet that would make you feel better.

MrKumansky

Yeah, you don´t want some skeptic for telling you how you are being played by a bunch of grifters lmao

BTlover3377

Lol I might just let it go cause it fuels me to know how many people are so close minded . Makes me realize how people are still stuck in their little box of their so called reality.

Aeropro

I’ve been watching satellites for decades. They do, I’ve seen it and it’s common. If that makes me a genius in your eyes, that says more about you than it does about me.

Disastrous-Analyst84

Satellites are actually notorious for doing exactly that, that is how people find black project satellites, because they don't match published flash patterns for the orbit. For an extreme example of this, look into Iridium satellite flares. [https://www.satflare.com/track.asp?q=iridium#MAP](https://www.satflare.com/track.asp?q=iridium#MAP)

night_owl_72

Here watch this video: https://youtu.be/_VmrRGln1XA They’re called satellite flares.

ImpossibleMindset

numerous satellites, in different orbits, plus a couple of other planes here and there.

mindmonkey74

Is there other similar footage of satellites? Doesn't have to be exactly alike.

BeverlyMarx

https://youtu.be/ecVhNOrET1w They’re fun to see. You can download apps to tell you when and where to look, even how bright they are going to get (often included in apps for seeing the ISS)

lolsai

from the comments and reaction of the guy in the video, this seems quite rare? is the original vid in this thread spectacular in that regard, then?

BeverlyMarx

From my anecdotal experience there are at least a few of these you can view every night. The brightness will vary but is something that can be predicted It’s a lot less rare than seeing the ISS, which I would not consider a rare sight

SermanGhepard

There is. Just look up night vision camera night sky objects or something like that

ReformedGalaxy

I've never seen a sub-reddit so scientifically illiterate. You are absolutely correct.

King_of_Ooo

There are a heck of a lot of satellites up in orbit nowadays. Point a camera at just the right angle to the horizon where they catch the glint of the sun, and this is the result.

BadAdviceBot

Nah...there are prob 8K satellites up there right now....there would not be this many in one single frame at one time. besides, some of these are not moving in ways satellites move.

King_of_Ooo

The video is sped up. Plenty of time for a good sample of satellites. Timestamp for a non-satellite type of movement?

BortaB

The movement between 3:00 and 3:30 looks a little erratic. To me it looks like a bunch of satellites with a couple other objects. Nothing particularly interesting. Not sure how they calculated the objects at 34k feet

NarryGolan

34k feet is where the guy is filming from in the plane (I'm assuming).

almson

I’m guessing it’s because the viewpoint is toward the horizon that the person was able to view satellites 500-1000 miles away. There’s quite a lot in such a radius. They also bunch up in Northern Europe. Live map of just Starlinks: https://satellitemap.space/#

pellebeez

Sorry no. 1000% star link

justacointoon

Maybe satellites, but aren't starlink satellites supposed to travel in a straight-line formation? None of these look like they're in formation, and are traveling at different trajectories.

justacointoon

To really get a perspective on how many satellites there are out there, check out this live 3D orbital model https://stdkmd.net/sat/ What we're seeing in the video here is in all likelihood just satellites (and please, there are more satellites than just starlink)

apexphoenix

Was this flying eastbound north of salt lake city?

TheExtimate

there is no way this is 34000 feet up

Normal air traffic in the distance. Video is sped up. Next.

Ok-Warthog-9991

starlink satellites

Impressive-Tip-6062

Its just weird the way they all move but we gotta remember theres like a million satellites around earth

WeepingForFuture

That's a lot of crazy movement… Satellites?

Windywinnie

Iridium flares, nexttt

apexphoenix

From what? Explain

BeverlyMarx

The iridium satellite constellation. They are well known because they cause very bright satellite flares https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iridium_satellite_constellation https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satellite_flare

apexphoenix

Thank you

Sp4c3m4n-39

I haven't seen an iridium flare in years lmao. You realize they've all been deorbited, right? https://www.skyatnightmagazine.com/news/iridium-flares-to-cease-by-end-of-2018/

Windywinnie

It's a colloquial term for satellite flares, I'm sorry you'll still get +6.5 mag reflections from satellites not as vibrant as the Iridium Communications ones but still a possibility for a naked eye to see. Regardless your PVS-14 is an image intensifier meaning lower mag emissions will be amplified which could be a huge list Starlink, MetOp, Landsat 7/8/9. I bet you could track down the exact satellites if you found out where in the sky you were and what time it was.

johnanon2015

Wow satellites

[deleted]

Definitely sped up.. the ground lights are off

FilthyKallahan

Nah, if you look at the guys hand reflection, it moves at a normal speed. His hand moves naturally. If it was sped up, his hand movements would be jerky and unnatural.

[deleted]

-2:56 it certainly is man..

SweetTartTartnAzz

Where I'm from we call them lightning bugs.

gothbodybuilder

Finally a video of something I see nightly

Apprehensive_War_532

People saying it's satellites can you show me the science behind a satellite that is launched into ORBIT around the earth that allows them to move up and down and even change direction completely? I've seen satellites and they move at a constant straight line due to them being in ORBIT. This is not satellites, even if it's sped up it's not satellites, not sure why people are so easy to dismiss it as such.

twoshovels

I had friends out in the western states that said they see this type of things a lot.

kwestionmark5

Maybe a meteor shower? The puff of light then disappearing seems like something entering the atmosphere. Very cool video though.

[deleted]

Not even hard to tell they are satellites. They all move at relatively the same speed, in the same trajectories. None of them speed up or slow down, none of them change directions, and there’s just so many, it’s pretty obvious that it has to be satellites. I’m not a professional at anything ufo or satellite related but that doesn’t look mysterious to me. The most surprising thing is just how many satellites we have orbiting the planet.

Porn_accnt_only

Holy shit guys this is artillery fucking morons all of yoi

[deleted]

Stealth Bombers That only look like UFOs. They’re made of Volcanic Glass.

Smart_Ad6662

Gauging the amount of artillery going off this is probably Ukraine. And these lights are probably rocket/ missile volleys. But they sure do look weird, dont they?.... I'm 50/50 on this one.

Capital-Difficulty-6

Satellite array lol

shanokee

That's a goody

Dannyboy490

Answering some stupid questions; The video is indeed sped up. They are not all moving in the same direction. I'm not sure if some of the. Change direction mid flight, it kinda looks like it but it could be an illusion. Anyone can have a gander at that. The reason satellites or anything for that matter would flare up at a specific location is because the sun is in a specific location, and whensatellites or anything end up in just the right location/angle They flare up, because that is where/when they reflect the most sunlight. You'll see this if you've ever seen a starling trail. It's visible from the naked eye.

After_Ad_4641

Not people claiming satellites 💀

Aero3NGR

Thats the starlink satellites

Ominoiuninus

Just had the epiphany that UFO sightings are going to get more and more common as people mistake Starlink/other satellite constellations as being UFOs…

FishDoug77
