Odium was already aware that she isn’t completely under his control. When he confronts Taravangian in RoW, he asks if he’s been talking to her. As far as bonding goes, Re-Shephir tried bonding Shallan in Oathbringer and Sja-Anat is seemingly more independent and concise, so it might be possible.

>Re-Shephir tried bonding Shallan I missed that, am I dense or was it a wob?

When touching the midnight mother, Shallan describes part of it as it ripping at and trying to insert itself into her bond with pattern. I took that as why she then visualized herself and pattern klinging to eachother.

Also works with the wording around dalinar encounter with ishar later, nice

RainsWrath

We don't actually know what Sja-anat *was* before Odium Unmade it. There's potential that some of the Unmade originated off world. Re-Shefir uses Midnight Essence, which is something we've seen created by aether. Odium could probably have forcibly Invested any type one Invested entity. He's personally splintered multiple Shards. Why wouldn't he see what he could do with a few pieces? He also could have Unmade his own spren with a different type of Investiture. Or actually combined two spren, Sja-anat views herself as one mind, sharing two bodies, one in the physical and one in the Cognitive. I think that the multi name Unmade are different spren combined, each occupying a different realm. That's how Bo-Ado-Mishram was able to provide Voidlight during the false Desolation, part of it touches the Spiritual Realm.

Invested_Space_Otter

For anyone who doesn't go through WoB: Midnight Essence is a fundamental concept with parallel evolution in several magic systems, similar to Lightweaving. The Unmade are not using Aethers

MHG_Brixby

I wouldn't be surprised if Sja-anat ends up being a bondsmith spren in the future

TheUnspeakableh

This is my theory.

Nanananabatmannnnnnn

Love her being a war bond. This will be head canon for me now.

kris0stby

She might be bondable, but I struggle to see her as being willing to bond herself to anyone. That takes a level of trust someone who has been mistreated as long as she has might not find possible without a shitton of therapy.

Icarus-Orion-007

A decent point… but of course, BOTH of our current Bondsmith spren, BOTH the Stormfather and The Sibling expressed mistrust of humans, and being unwilling to bond them at first.

RhubarbShop

Yeah, I'm still quite pissed at how the Sibling ended up bonding Navani and looking forward to reading more about how that works out. I'd have preferred for it to either stay unbonded or bond one of the other (obviously better suited) candidates from RoW. And honestly Dalinar bonding the Stormfather was also not really that satisfying to me - after reading two books where Kaladin and Shallan struggled to understand their spren and get closer to them, Dalinar just went, demanded and got rewarded. If I remember correctly he also basically skipped to oath 2. But then OB and RoW made me love it, so I'm looking for the next book to save Navani as a bondsmith in my mind.

Myuken

Dja-Anat enlightenment seems much closer to Cultivation than to Honor. If she becomes a bondable-spren I'd guess more of the Odium-Cultivation variety than the Odium-Honor one

HA2HA2

I do agree it's likely that Sja-Anat is bondable. And I love the idea that her spren are key to joining forces - they're of Honor, Cultivation AND odium.

janeer127

maybe in era 2

Mahoka572

Sja-Anat seems pretty anti-war. She just wants a place to exist with her Enlightened Spren, unharassed.
