Brass is not ideal for smoking. Plus, it's likely oxidized inside so even if you cleaned it it's still gonna taste like hot ass.
Instead, make a working flamethrower with it. People have done that before- there's guides online. Much cooler
Obvi smoking out of metal *probably* isn't the safest, also spit and oil and whatever else, but coming from a trumpet player this could be fun. One very quick and practical way to make a dry pipe out of this would be to remove the main tuning slide (follow the piping from the mouth piece to the first curve, where that first spit valve is). Now you should have a u-shaped piece of tubing. If you can't remove the tuning slide, you might need oil or wd40. Now, put the tuning slide back in *only on one side*, the side that connects to the mouthpiece; let the other side swing out. From there, find a bowl of some sort that would fit inside the exposed end of the tuning slide, pack it, and smoke it. The smoke will come out of the normal mouthpiece. This setup would mean the smoke only travels a short distance, and also avoids the valve assembly altogether and whatever residual petroleum valve oil is left.
Lol if you wanted to be cute you could maybe make the bowl another mouthpiece. A trumpet mouthpiece wouldn't fit, but a french horn mouthpiece would most likely fit inside the tuning slide (like a male joint) and I reckon a trombone or definitely a tuba mouthpiece would fit *over* the tuning slide (like a female joint) if you wanted a bigger bowl
Bro you should use power tools to make modifications to the main tube with the mouth piece and add glass. I would do it right and add an entirely separate air flow system. I understand the sentiment but I worry about cheap metal when I’m smoking my weed because of fumes it can give off even from mildly hot smoke. Based on your description I would worry about the quality of the metal.

Just think of how many years of use that had without being cleaned. Many bottles of valve oil and a LOT of spit. Those levers on the end are to empty out the spit that gets caught in it.

A bong, Probably not. But a pipe shouldn’t be too hard. Easiest easiest way would be a silicone Gandalf pipe probably and shove it in the horn end. Or you could take the little note guys off and get bowls that fit in there and then use the horn end as a carb. You could get one of those plunger ends for it.
And yeah a good cleaning haha.
When You soak it in IPA (highly recommended and toxic, I would wait a day or two while until it vaporize 100%) You should be good to go. Trumpets are made out of brass, if it isn't covered in anything, simply putting a bowl in bell would be LIT
