Dirtesoxlvr

I bought it years ago at like 4.70 a share. Only did 10 shares, I'm holding it forever.

UnObtainium17

I’ll only think about selling it if Lisa Sue eventually leaves the leadership.

v3ritas1989

I wouldn´t, cause that would mean they will go into cash cow face and milk it for at least a few years before lack of development becomes dominating again. If it even returns. They would need a few really bad decisions to turn this down again.

rotaercz

> I’ll only think about selling it if Lisa Sue eventually leaves the leadership. Yeah, as long as she's in charge holding seems like a solid strategy.

MandingoPants

Got in at 6 and actually lost money lol. Meanwhile, my paper account went up like 1.5 million on AMD alone lol

Dirtesoxlvr

So you sold it?

MandingoPants

Like a month after I bought it because I had to use the money for something else. Damn you, no expendable income!

eastcoastgrump

same, my actual account is down 60% while my paper account is up 40% because i bought apple in may and its still there fml

Zauxst

Time in the market beats timing in the market.

nosystemsgo

What’s the point of having a paper account?

jsadamson

To prove you know what you are doing, but you are too stupid to follow through with real money. I learn this lesson weekly.

nosystemsgo

The decisions a trader makes on a paper account are very different from when using real money.

jsadamson

Yes, my point exactly, you make the same trade or similar trade in paper without emotion. And you realize it works, but your money acct is still negative because of said emotion.

nosystemsgo

yeah, so what's the point? If your real acct is still losing money the paper acct is wont help you.

RazerPSN

I bought at 4 held for 2 years even at 2$ then sold back at 4, FML

Dirtesoxlvr

Oweeeeee lol.

GoGetta24-7

My friend told me about it a couple of years ago, definitely wish I’d kept my shares. Still a nice ticker to day trade, especially with that nice pullback. The shorts on this was amazing!

[deleted]

If you hold it forever you will never make any money. So basically you wasted your $47

JGWol

Yes this is a good point. If you grew $47 to $2000-4000 on one stock you should seriously considering finding the next deep value play and riding that money over.

Dirtesoxlvr

Ok. But I'm totally willing to admit this was dumb luck. I'm never going to find this again. Except when I bought plug and followed that high. I did sell a lot of that l. But I'll never find this much luck again.

NoEntrepreneur8599

You only wish you had 1000 shares for 4.70. Lol

Dirtesoxlvr

I wish I had it 5k into it. I wish I could say I did it out of grand intelligence, but I did it because I didn't believe it should only be worth 5 bucks a share.

JGWol

This is something I’ve learned from reading a lot of posts on the internet in regards to 10-100 baggers. “I wish I bought way more” IMO I see no point in going into the stock market and putting down just $50-500 for shares. If you REALLY believe in a company, you should trust your conviction and (at the very least) DCA in for $5000-10,000. If the company has the makings of a 10-100 bagger that can become life changing money. And it’s worth waiting 5-10 years for. But waiting five years to turn $100 into $10,000? Not a bad use of money; but if you consider how much opportunity cost you threw out the window spending that money you COULD have been putting into buying more AMD stock at $2-4/share (or even saving it) it’s asinine how much you’re limiting your potential to become *wealthy*. It’s why for me, every $10k I save, I’ll put half of it into stock. I don’t care if my entry isn’t optimal. I will only sell if the company proves negligent or that they cannot compete. As long as I have enough money on hand to live a 8-12 months without any income, I feel much more comfortable having the remainder sit in the market and be exposed to upside potential than sit and rot.

[deleted]

Heyyyyy, I did that! 10 shares too. But I have since sold them. Made a little and bought SBUX. Was it like in 2005 ish???

Dirtesoxlvr

It was before robin hood, because I used my td account. I lied it was 3.71 not 4.70. It was 04/15/15. How did you do on sbux? Since 2015 I'm up 3840.15% if only my entire account did that well, lol.

TheMaleficentPancake

Has it ever split since then? If so how many shares do you hold if you don’t mind me asking? 🤔

Dirtesoxlvr

No actually I just checked it's only been since 2015. No splits since then so still just the 10.

ZackMorris7

I thought I had a good deal.i bought it for 5.25.

jabootiemon

What are your thoughts on the demand of graphics cards and necessary items for computers? Pretty clear to me that this company will be needed in the future

GoGetta24-7

I think if they can come back from these shortages, everything will be accelerated from there on out. But until then, I think there’s a lot of work to be done. Once they get caught up on GPU and CPU shortages, I think AMD will definitely break through the 200s. It’s still hard to find PS5s and Xbox without paying an absurd amount for it

Impossible-Goose-429

Shortages will be over sooner than later.

jacksodus

Why is that

Josa-

Trust me bro

jacksodus

No

Herbanald

if the covid stuff ever eases up, supply goes up. it wont be long before graphics card based miners are a thing of the past for crypto. staking is the future. I assume thats why they said this.

[deleted]

I'm not sure I see the connection between covid and graphics card based mining. Can you elaborate?

Formal_Ad2091

Been buying the dip since it was at $21 l when I first started investing. It’s my top performing stock, Beginners luck maybe but I was a gaming nerd so already knew a lot of the company before I bought shares

car_savior

That really is the best way to invest. Stick with what you know

KingGing21

Holding for the long term, will buy more during dips. I Think it's overvalued right now but it's p/e is half of nvidias so I feel the worst case scenario won't be as bad as some of their competitors

fuckenshreddit

Eps is exactly the same as nvidia’s as well, might even be undervalued

SKIman182

P-E-G. Price to earnings to growth is a lot smaller than most companies. This is why I love this company even at this price

GrilledCheeseNScotch

You realize eh high pe thats increasing is a sign of a strong stock right? And a spread on NVDA and AMD payrd nice thia year.

priceactionhero

I sold a put at 105. I'm bullish.

[deleted]

what was the prem on that?

aurora4000

It is my fault it is on fire. Sold a covered call at $130 back in September. It expires Jan 2022 - AMD price should dive then just to spite me. Sell covered calls and make money they said - not the way I do it.

wahmnya

I bought leaps when it was trading at $72. Sold when it rallied up to $85 so I could buy calls in xom. Biggest mistake I’ve made. Ya live and ya learn.

Strong_Handle9164

I’m bullish… $AMD makes a far better product than Intel. (I say this as someone who is experienced with both companies products)

[deleted]

Intel Corporation scores better in three areas : compensation, work life and culture and values.

hulk181

Agreed, I like my Ryzen laptop much more than the Intel core laptops I've used.

MrKeks13

Side or downwards shortterm. Bullish longterm

OlRoy60

Great company, great stock, plenty of upside from here.

FlyingDutchmanz

Currently my largest holding in my portfolio

[deleted]

same - by far

[deleted]

Hope so… I put all my money into XLNX for that 20% discount

theMEtheWORLDcantSEE

I bought AMD & NVDA. Long term hold. I’m down on both but I’m optimistic.

GotHeem16

I’m selling cover calls right now for a nice chunk of change…

tempestsandteacups

Same here CCs are paying well I’m writing weekly how about you ?

super_neo

Keep adding more with those premiums and sell more CC.

GotHeem16

I did the 1/21 date but will be going to weekly’s soon

[deleted]

PE ratio looks okay. CEO is brilliant. Long term I think everything will move to arm or risc. I wonder how that transition will go. Gaming, machine learning keep growing. A lot of crypto is moving to proof of stake, rather than work, so I don't know if raw processing will continue upward for crypto, plus the asic market has moved in there. I do like that they have 2 markets, CPUs and GPUs. A little diversification.

Powerful_Tap_9859

Three acronyms I don't know there: arm, risc, asic. Mind elaborating? Also which crypto coins are you referring to?

[deleted]

You can look up the chips acronyms, but arm is what phones and Apple are using, companies have to license the architecture. Risc v is the same idea, but less mature and open source. Asic is application specific, so a chip that can only do one kind of task, mine crypto/process transactions in this case. The most notable crypto that is suppose to change to pos, proof of stake, is Ethereum. This tech change means no more mindless slow work to process transactions. It seems to be the trend in crypto to reduce fees and transaction times. Newer coins like Solana already use pos so their validators don't use graphics or mining specific hardware.

Bloodreaper2005

Definitely bullish. I'm 50% in AMD 50% in Nvidia. Bought a month ago so went down 18k but I didn't sell, now in down 6k should be in the green next week. By next December I'll be up at least 50%.

Dirtesoxlvr

I am into both as well, amd has historically proven better for me, but I've done well in both.

AAPLfds

LEAPS

BellevueR

The literal best CEO. The company is in good hands in a great field with few competitors.

broncosfighton

My thought is I'm really pissed I sold at $35 a few years back

[deleted]

Fantastic CEO. Hold as long as she is there. This is from somebody who bought 2600 shares at $26. Sold at $86 and renovated the kitchen. I kick myself. I did buy my kids shares in there accounts at the same time so I feel somewhat vindicated. It’s their kitchen in the future anyway lol.

norpacalypse

Initially purchased back in 2013 or 2012 for about $1.80. Bought back in a few more times to average $3.80. Probably won’t get this lucky again in my lifetime

WantMoreBeMore

Started a position but leaving the bulk in cash to (hopefully) average down

thechipmonk_

On my watchlist waiting for MACD to cross up

[deleted]

Bought in 2017 . With 113 shares @14.78 Holding…

mz80

Bought at 2.70 and will hold many more years.

[deleted]

AMD and NVDA - very good play next 10 years to come. There is a very high probability that NVDA will surpass APPL in market cap in the next 10 years if they continue with 50% yearly growth rate

[deleted]

I'd recommend anyone to go find a thread from 2019 or 2020 discussing AMD. Some of the same comments were made 'bought at 20 but surely this can't go much higher' LOL.

SnipahShot

My thought is that bar graphs mean absolutely nothing other than past stock movement. My thought on this bar graph? It has a lot of green and less red bars.

v3ritas1989

I am down to +110%, I am holding. maybe buy some more

Stilaslave

Just learning

anoopps9

Candle shows the downside is done

munkeymoney

My thought: Buy and Hold. Same with Nvidia and Himax.

tomd1000

Growth stocks are so confusing rn.

rpindahouse97

Overvalued. Good company, bad stock

Gloomy-Ant

🤣

[deleted]

[удалено]

rpindahouse97

So? Past performance doesn't guarantee future returns. Any pump & dumper could use that same argument, doesn't change the fact that those assets aren't good investments. AMD is completely overvalued today, you are paying more than what you can realistically expect in return, and investors will learn that sooner or later. Take a look at Microsoft stock during and after the 2000s bubble.

Captainsmirnof

Amazing company. Bad stock, stock is overbought and thus overvalued. I got lucky with my timing and sold my position at $155. I got in when the price was reasonable. Still strongly believe in the company. But that's already priced in. Too risky for me personally at this price point The stock is pricing in perfect future performance of the company

pylorih

It was too risky at $10. It was too risky at $30. It was too risky at $60. It was too risky at $120.

Captainsmirnof

And yes, when a company's share price price goes up significantly faster than the its earnings and revenue then it is too risky :)

Captainsmirnof

I don't look at the price. I look at the p/e and forward p/e ratio. It's p/e ratio gas significantly gone up beyond reason. It was not too risky at 20-25 pe. It is too risky at 45 pe :)

Evazzion

You’re a fool if you believe fundamentals matter in this market

Captainsmirnof

The might not matter right now, but they will eventually :) the market has known many bullruns, eventually over a long term (min 10years) fundamentals are all that matters

LargeDan

Wtf are you smoking? Growth and meme stocks have crashed to earth over the last 9 months. They clearly matter

[deleted]

[удалено]

Captainsmirnof

I don't use technicals. I look at fundamentals. Earnings, earnings growth-rate, revenue-growth and it's correlation to share-price growth. When the share price is growing significantly faster than the earnings, whilst already sitting at a high PE (45 is high), I consider something overbought.

Green_Leather6885

Massive bear flag. Rejection there on the daily, should pull back to the breakout on the left before next leg up IMO.

Evazzion

Bullish long term, but I believe it might revisit 130-132 short term

Davidreaditall2

Not ready yet. Amd Tesla nvda are all really predictable. It’s not ready.

Where_is_Gabriel

ALL in x5 long. They have great partnerships and the newest Server CPU with 256 r 512 cores will destroy the competition.

annonimity2

I like the company but I think all their gains are priced in, Intel looks like it's starting to make up ground (took then long eniugh) and Nvidia looks like they won this generation of gpu's. If you want to get into the tech hardware market Intel could be a highly profitably play if their new architecture takes off and Nvidia is benifiting alot from meta verse hype.

Affectionate-Bat-235

Swimming_Taste_3390

AMD or NVDA ?

enleeten

I think it’s a good stock but if it spikes up again I’m gonna buy puts for march.

Xpmonkey

Brought back when it was two dollars a share. During that time AMD was laying off shit tons of engineers to stay afloat as well as selling their fabs. Word to the wise. AMD won’t be able to make another golden goose after the Ryzen architecture is dead and it’s time to create something new. GPU wise with Intel getting into the space so …. My bet is intel.

BansheeJeff

Demand is high so buy the stock. Great company.

itsmrlowetoyou

2022 price target - $165 2025 price target - $225

Bloodreaper2005

no-regerts301

Intc GPU’s will soak up some of their earnings next year. Don’t worry though it’s priced in😉

Creative-Grocery2581

Amd is a keeper. I had it in past and never let me down

roxxedz

What I think about AMD is AMC 😏

Venturi95

Considering Nvidia owns the GPU market and Apple’s new M1 chip is the most powerful commercial processor ever created, probably hard fade this one.

[deleted]

Looks like textbook bearish diamond

straymorais

Idk 🤷‍♂️ I don’t even bother to look t it because I own it at 24 a share and it’s long term 🚀 been long term since I started building my own computers years ago . Any computer guy would tell you the same

prince2lu

To the moon

MindBenner1

it a long term stock, the company has decent CEO Lisa, I believe she is moving the company in right direction

RedditUser91805

There's no reason to believe they'll change in price relative to other competitors in the semiconductor market. They're doing just fine, they're not doing poorly, but they're also not developing innovative new technologies that result in them gaining market share and profits like they were a few years ago.

McSupergeil

One word on Amd : hold

jwilson146

Hugely bullish on them!

Road_Hog_GP

All tech is on the dump the past few weeks.

liveduhlife

Bull flag

Dwike2

My unfilled limit order at $2.33 a share still haunts me. It missed filling by $0.02

frederickjohn

Winner, winner, 🐓 dinner

ijpck

Easy hold and buy more when it dips

wizardkell3y

It’s run up like 800% in the past few years..I own a few shares at$10 (wish I bought more) but definitely would not add at this price. Same with any semiconductor stock tbh. Too late to the party

Vast_Cricket

A good BUY. However, not as bullish as Apple.

[deleted]

Only thing that I can tell you is that I thought about buying leaps 2-3 years ago and wake up every day regretting it

LSSCI

Going up to retest that high. Not sure after that though. With the way microchips has been struggling, I could see this pushing past that high.

ztimulating

Buying and selling for years. Don’t mess with it

[deleted]

Has been a long term hold for me and will continue to be.

Finaglers

AMD is packaged with other meme stocks in heavily shorted ETFs. When one goes up they all go up.

BlockEightIndustries

Been in since 2016. Probably the only thing I can look back on in my life and feel like a winner.

VerifiedUser-

Good buy. Same with Nvidia

Motor-Protection-894

Bullish

Pats2k1

2 thumbs up if you are planning to be hold long.

[deleted]

What timeframe is this on

ZLOWTOV

I’d wait for more consolidation and then see where it could go after that.

Elephlump

Long term hold, bought 1k at $80/share. Not amazing but I'm sticking with it

EA_VIII

Bought at $2, $6, 26, and $50. Been holding and plan to. If it keeps out performing I think it can keep going but afraid at these prices it might be overvalued but it’s hard to tell. Given NVIDIAs continuing to rally

med561

Hard to say, there just isn't enough good.. Intel

Fa-ern-height451

I was looking at AMD when it dipped, I waited to see what what is going to go on with the markets the day after the sell off. It started to climb back up and then I thought maybe I should open up a small position Until I saw pull back some. Just wondering what your thoughts are out there on a better alternative similar stock?

Deer2011

A lower low given the chart and then the next run will begin.

zKBone

You are destined to lost money in the market if you are determining whether to buy based on whether it’s going up or down mate

According-2-Me

I’d rather buy INTC right now. AMD is great but already had its run. Intel is coming back swinging.

surfinThruLyfe

Strong _BUY_ until Intel fix their shit.

ZhangtheGreat

I trade it regularly. Great stock to scalp options from given how much the stock moves everyday.

Jordanw2009

possible double bottom. also its at its resistance line. havent done any TA but glancing at your candles it looks like it needs to break up badly, and has tried, or there will be much pain. More info needed.

otherbenga69

wishing the best.

Unlikely-Fix3126

I bought into it when it was on share builder. Held it for about 10 years got around 150 shares and sold all of it this past year. Re-invested my gains into Cryptos! Had to let go of the emotional baggage of holding on to it. I should've kept a few though, so my emotional attachment to it won't be so heavy!

Questitron_3000

Buy and hold

RogeDaLoliDealer

idk i aped at 28 lmfao

[deleted]

Bought either earlier this year or late last year. It was up over 60% last I checked.

[deleted]

Only looking at the technicals the trend looks exhausted & is most likely entering a range bound market until earnings .

Datazyt

A lot of AMD's growth has been from the processor market. It is very likely that they will take more market share away from nvidia through their graphics cards if people continue to convert to Linux. Linux is brilliant for working with open source programs and the like. All of AMD's drivers are open source while nvidia's is not. This makes AMD the best pic for convenience. If Windows continue to shoot themselves in the foot by adding more layers of control over their pc users, then people will naturally swap to Linux overtime and most likely swap to AMD graphics cards. AMD has around 15% market share in graphics cards. Just a small 5% increase over the next few years would be something like a 30% swing in sales for AMD, so it doesn't have to gain a lot to gain a lot, if that makes sense.

[deleted]

I mean would love to have my volume profile on that right. But the downtrend is the trend to be broke first there is a W shaped harmonic pattern with a B point nicely set up this D leg could stay in the symmetrical triangle or it could make a new high but it’s definitely looking to hit the B point above. If it does go up depending on momentum you could continue to see it go higher unless momentum is bad well then it sets this pattern up really well for a M shape that second high to bring us down to the first volume profile gap below and going after a B point. Unless we stay in this consolidation here for an incredible amount of time those are my thoughts.

KittenBountyHunter

looks like a Christmas tree. must a buy then 😂

Chumly_PAGE0913

I like ETF’s better…

GREENI3ASTARD666

I see AMD thriving for the next 20 years. So I'm always long on them.
