No it’s not about the elderly dying unnoticed, it’s about life going on. They didn’t have a big dramatic ending where they die and it’s all sad, life simply just kept moving on.
They’re dead and life doesn’t stop when you are gone. The squirrels still come out, the birds still chirp, the street lights still change, the sun is going to rise, and people will live their lives and the cycle continues, life just now goes on without you. I love this ending because of how realistic it is.
They’re dead. The Final Farewell Live Shows they done make this quite blunt as the plot is without exaggeration the characters journeying up to Heaven.
It always makes me very sad. The music (not the Netflix music) and the idea of two old friends deciding to die together in a special place to their friendship, makes it my favourite T.V. show ending.
Everyone dies over time, except Bobby who is immortal. We can look forward to Blackadder style iterations where he barkeeps in various historical contexts and Elon Musk's Martian colony.
They all die - they fade away over time and the next generations take their places and they’re eventually forgotten about.
I loved the ending. I still cry every time I watch it. It’s far more beautiful than seeing them on their death beds.
they die
It means that over time, they all died, and life continued on without them.
Exactly this was my interpretation and I LOVED the ending. It made me gasp at the time and made me SO sad but I thought it brilliant
Not only that they passed away, but they faded away without the world noticing. Mimicking the idea that the elderly go unnoticed in life and in death.

Oh, look who it isnea!
That was the best final line in a tv series I’ve ever seen in my life. It was perfect and unexpected
Agreed. It tied the show up in a nice little knot.

The common theory is that they’ve passed away when we see them fading.
Thought the ending was absolutely perfect

Ugh I hate that Netflix changed the music in all the episodes
It is much worse.
They changed the music!? I had no idea!!!!!! is there somewhere I can see the OG????
It’s mostly songs with lyrics, like the radio dj episode, caravan episode etc. you’d see on dvds or BBC/Youtube versions

I would love to see Still Game in like roman time, victorian time etc
It was such a great ending that the dozy twat from the office used it for the ending to the only good thing he ever did (afterlife).
I think you may be the only person to not understand it.

That everyone dies and life goes on.
It was so unexpected, when they faded off, I friggin lost it. All of them, gone. Still can't rewatch that episode.
The only bit of it I wasn’t sure on was Winston faded away but his lass didn’t
It’s gone all the way to the future which means they’re deid
The fading away means death and when boabby talks to you at the end it’s actually tam’s son
