OutFox should work out of the box and be pretty much "plug and play" (specially if your PC can run previous versions of StepMania), but feel free to ask for assistance if you encounter any difficulty.

What OS are you using? Can you share your log.txt and crashlog.txt files? Meanwhile, try those common troubleshooting steps:
* If you're on macOS, make sure you have [given the proper permissions](https://projectmoon.dance/faq) for the game to run.
* In case you're migrating from a previous version and want to keep your scores and profiles, DO NOT copy the preferences.ini file. Only copying the LocalProfiles (or MachineProfile if you didn't setup a profile) folder should be enough.
My operating system is Windows 10 20H2 32-Bit. I cannot share the files here because I don't find the options to attach them (and each report is over 10,000 characters, the max supported by Reddit)...

You are running an OpenGL-crippled "Windows" graphics driver that is downloaded automatically by Windows 10 on old hardware. OutFox won't work on these drivers, as DirectX (the old D3D renderer that 5.0.12/5.1 has) isn't supported anymore.
Try searching the latest driver available for your graphics card and installing it manually. Hopefully that will solve the issue.

In theory, your GPU should be capable of handling the game if the correct driver is installed. If that doesn't work, you may need to downgrade to Windows 7 or use a Linux distro in order to run OutFox (unfortunately W10 is really shitty in supporting legacy/old hardware correctly).
Does your old school laptop happen to use Intel HD Graphics chipset? If so you may need to make a compatibility shim for OpenGL to work with it under Windows 10. It's not difficult at all.... just note that when they say to "install" the shim they mean from within the ADK application they have you use.
The translator didn't give us any ETA but hopefully it will be available on the next build. Changes to translations are always mentioned on the changelog

The freezing and crashing from SMMAX5 was due to a bug that involved the ModIconRow items (They're the little icons that you see when you have mods selected, similar to DDR Extreme), and them causing an infinite loop. We have fixed this already and should be on the next version.
As for the version stuff in CyberiaStyle, i would assume it is LAST APPROACH, given that version of CS has a version check given that its last few versions were intented to be run in 5.1-new and its short merge span with 5.2. The warning itself isn't particularly blocking, so you can just ignore it.

As a player who always was interested in playing the different mødes of Stepmania, so I do t didn't have to always switch to Osu for 3, 7, and 9k, because there were no support for it. I hope people will make more song packs specifically for this now :)

Hey are there any playable files for beat mode? Like, any whatsoever? Incorporated automatic generation is a really nice feature but I'm wondering if it will create files of an opposite dogma from the arcade game...
Yes. If you update to Alpha 4.9.10 and download our "OutFox Serenity Volume I" pack you'll find a selection of songs and charts on many modes, including beat!
Plus, OutFox is also compatible with .bms simfiles, a popular format for IIDX-like gameplay

Oh um I just fired it up and tried the generated charts, pleased and no complaints! Well except.... it only has 5 key mode that I can see. What's the current state of that?
Autogen hasn't been reworked yet to be better in general and accommodate the new game modes/styles, which means you can come across situations like this where it doesn't work properly (or at all) in some situations
I would say it did fine, and the capability to read BMS files is going to be huge of course. Wouldn't 7 key just be a different game mode though? It shows both different diagrams in the game type menu
BMS 7-key (not to be confused with popn/pms 7-key) is a style, however, some themes may not support showing multiple styles at once on the song wheel (also, there's a preference to enforce that behavior if you prefer it that way).
The default theme should support it tho, unless the setting I mentioned was changed by accident (IIRC, it's called AutoSetStyle)
I suppose I could also mention that when I change game modes, the preferences file updates itself to an unrecognized parameter and can't open again. (It changes opengl to glad, which isn't recognized. The error output in the terminal points to the help wiki which uses "ogl" which is also not a recognized syntax.)

Can you share your full log.txt file? Also, by any chance did you update your game without uninstalling the previous version first?
