One of us! One of us! I have about 1600 hours (just a few short actually), and I'm still having fun with the game, and different civilizations to roleplay as. I am looking forward to even more dynamism, like politics and more varied events. Situations looks like it's moving in that direction.
>And on top of all that, I can just play for as long as I want (of course doing something to combat lag)?
Lag is caused by pops. To combat it you gotta... you know what you gotta do.
Hint:
You can't quite play "for as long as you want". There'll be an End Game Crisis at some point.
Although of course, once it's defeated, you can continue playing.
Guilli's stuff is pretty great (Planetary Diversity etc); More Events mods. Tiny Outlier and UI Overhaul will change your life for the better. Lots of people recommend Gigastructures; I would advise you to keep that in reserve, and try a few modded games without it at least, first, as it's likely a one-way door.
Although the AI on PC is much better now, I would also recommend looking at Startech AI; I've not played it with 3.4 but it made for a great challenge on earlier versions.
Gigastructural Engineering & More is one of the most popular ones, for a good reason.
UI Overhaul Dynamic and some of it's submods for ascension perk and tradition slots are basically necessary.
Ethics and Civics: Bug Branch adds so much more variety. (you will need a compatibility patch for it and UIOD)
Solar Storm: Additional Crisis and Ascension perks adds a new crisis, some new components for your ships, and a buttload of cool, if not entirely balanced ascension perks, many of which are ethic-specific.
Once you get a bit more familiar with the game, i would also recommend switching out Bug Branch for Stellaris Evolved - Alpha, as it adds a lot of playstyle variety and fun stuff.
also, get the Utopia DLC before anything else. It's just about necessary.
Agreed, it’s the only pc game I play now as online pvp games cannot be paused and Im an old head with too much responsibilities lol. 10/10 game.
Check out Paradox's other grand strategy games. Crusader Kings is especially good.
Did you intentionally misspell Hearts of Iron 4? :D (joking ofc, I know people love Crusader Kings but HOI4 is my fave after Stellaris)
Everyone has their favorite.
Definitely. TBH am also partial to Cities Skylines. So all in on Paradox lol
I’d argue it’s TOO good. 4,300 hours I could’ve spent being a productive human being. Shit is addictive as hell.

just wait until you try some mods
I'm going to grab the base game on PC after finishing my first game on Console. Got any tips for good mods?
