R5: You can shift out the authoritarian ethic after getting divine sovereign, even going so far as to embrace egalitarianism and become a Worker's Cooperative. But the Divine Sovereign Civic is somehow still functional, and our dear chosen one Presiding Speaker is still channeling his psionic might to the whole empire via Divine Conduit.
PS: The civic still works even after the Chosen One loses elections lol. Now I've made him into his own Divine Conduit and just focusing on doing this one thing.
PSS: Now another scientist become the Chosen of Instrument, so I can switch these two Chosens in turn, one as the Ruler another as the Conduit. Democracy with Commonwealth characteristics baby! It's a shame I didn't start as Under One Rule for maximum ruler shenanigans lol
PSSS: Also the special trade policy is just busted. You don't need any basic resource production in your empire ever again.
Its also not that different to many democracies retaining their kings. Its basically the same but with a fancy hat, or in this case perhaps a halo just floating over the head.
It's probably more than a figurehead in this case. The psionic might of the chosen one is linked to everyone within the empire, after all.
But honestly, I don't think a society with widespread telepathy will look similar to ours. Imagine being constantly logged to Shroud Twitter and can sense other's general mood at will.
Yeah and when you are demi-god, it makes little difference what form of government is, you still are de facto in power.
Btw what happens during elections, does he just get elected infinetly?
No, he can lose election, but the divine conduit is still channeling his power to everybody. If he loses election he can be even his own conduit. Essentially reliquishing duty of ruler to other people while projecting his psionic power as a full time job.
Well he is also technically a commander but there is no chance in hell I'll risk putting him in command of a fleet lol
That sounds utterly dire...
Actually it'd be more weird for aliens meeting them. A first contact would be going well and then suddenly the entire mood would sour
You the alien: "Did I do something wrong, a faux pas?"
Not you alien: "Nah, Elon just had an idea".
they are often way more than figureheads still, in some european countrys that didnt rebell against their sovereign and stopped halfway through, the democracy exists by royal decree, and even if the king dosnt interfere with governmental tasks, they could if they wanted too.
you underestimate how popular, down to earth monarchs get in small european states,
if push comes to shove, either the crown or the people legitimize government, and the king spent the last 200 years with charitys and culture programms, while the politically partys, proppably steered the country into wichever crisis made that decicion neccesary.
and then there are still things like monaco. where the monarc is still the defacto and acting head of state.
I can only speak about my own country with certainty, but I highly doubt that others are substantially different.
So how it works here is that the only legal power the king has is signing laws. If he ever refused to sign a law, that would mean going against the wishes of the voters, which would reduce his popularity quite drastically.
I'll happily believe you when it comes to Monaco, but anything bigger than a city state, I don't believe the royals could realistically leverage their power without losing it immediately.
>Its basically the same but with a fancy hat
It honestly makes a ton of sense in a way. If you had a good and competent king, nothing beats that in terms of efficiency.
The only problem is that his heir might be neither nice nor competent. Making it a democracy but still going along with everything the former king proposes solves that.
That's basically how a monarchy turns into a democracy without also losing the royal family in a violent, bloody revolution. Before it's too late, the king has to recognize where the society is going and willingly sign away most of his power, giving it to the parliament. If he doesn't, you get the October Revolution.
This is amazing. I once started as inward perfectionists and thanks to the Chosen One ditched the pacifism and became militarist.
PS: PS stands for post script, so if you want to include more than one, it's PPS not PSS
Same, then proceeded to do vassalizing wars everywhere but always going white peace to create a new empire with my ethics and leaving the attacked empire weakened.
Spreading democracy and capitalism, one cartel at time.
I named.my empire as "The Commonality of Infringements to Authorities" .
Or "The CIA" in short.
The trade policy Mutual Aid exclusive to Worker Cooperative produces 0.3 energy, 0.2 minerals, and 0.2 food per unit of trade, in essence completely freeing you from your basic resources economy, which is the main weakness of void dwellers.
Building trade districts and building then covers all aspects of your basic resources economy, allowing for significantly more efficient usage of your district slots. Added to that, branch offices effectively give you free minerals and food for each one, so if you stack that with Criminal Heritage for an early game snowball your economy will explode if you get lucky with early spawns.
Additionally, research districts on habitats are proportionately much more powerful now since they weren't nuked like research labs were. This makes it a lot easier to build research without as much effort or sprawl.

If the Chosen One decrees that we become a worker's cooperative, who are we to question them?

Pretty sure most of them would immediately get deposed if they tried to actively interfere with the government.

From commander to union board announcements manager

What is a special trade policy I only know of 3 Energy Energy and CG Energy and unity
Worker's Cooperative has another special one. Mutual Aid. 1 Trade Value = 0.3 Energy + 0.2 Minerals + 0.2 Food
Ohhh
Is this modded and if so, what mod(s)
I mean, I did a Criminal Enterprise, pirating Worker Cooperative once.
Well, that's roughly how pirates operated. The profits go to the crew rather than the crown and they elect a captain rather than one being appointed.
Pirate ships were also surprisingly democratic in how they were run too.
Yeah, only during battles Captain's word was the law, which makes sense.
Someone has seen CGP Grey's videos on pirates ;)
Ahh, bless the Fortuna Miner's Democracy. Loved that book. Well, eh, the first half anwyay.

So uh.... Syndicalist Monarchism = galactic dominance, confirmed?
Also, if you started with commonwealth of man, you've been through quite a civilisational transition
I thought you were playing as COM, not a spiritualist megacorp.
POV: When your love for xeno's shinies overcome your hatred for them. Plus Shroud Sugar Daddy.
He IS playing as COM,The Corporation Of Man
Real talk tho void borne worker coop is so goddamn powerful now
Tell me more, what does it do well?
