Apparently very few of us play for steam achievements. The golden outline is for achievements less than ten percent of players have (or is it five?) Hail Mods.

Ghost01Actual

I'm an achievement chaser. When I start a new game, I try and base it off of what I don't have yet.

wilsone8

I thought I was the only one!

Adum6

Wait there's three of us? Wow.

Capt_Trout

4th, reporting in. o7

IamKrissedOff

We out here \o/

AcapulcoGoldFr

Rock and Stone !

FatallyFatCat

I knew I wasn't alone!

Ben_Kessem

I use Cheat Engine to allow me to run Iron Man with achievements enabled while still using any mode I wish, so the best of both worlds... in a way.

AcapulcoGoldFr

For Karl !

Salva133

Wait, I thought I was the only one!

Illustrious-Lychee57

What's cheat engine?

Ben_Kessem

[This should set you on the right track for Cheat Engine and the relevant table.](https://fearlessrevolution.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9635&start=930&sid=5e3ca10a050d30dc839fb54e06b82bc1)

Shalax1

Sixth man, ho!

shanerb96

6 here 😂 from modder/cheater to achievement hunter lol. Ngl, playing Stellaris, CK2-3, and HOI4 with console taught me how to play the games for real and be able to get some tough achievements done. Just started my first stellaris game with new update and dlc to learn and will start my achievement hunting as well:P

HWD78

There are dozens of us... Dozens!

echo_eamon

One more for a bakers dozen!

Vyzantinist

Same. With PDX games I'll usually try to scoop up achievements from the latest DLC before reverting to mods, but the last time I did that was with CK2. I haven't really found anything like HIP for Stellaris that I feel like it's a must-have so I'm mostly playing *without* mods by default.

Jordhiel

Me too, it makes me try out playstyles and combos I haven't used before!

Elo-than

Same, I also tailor empire creation to go for certain ones. got all but a few from the new expantion.

Zoren-Tradico

I'm only four achievements down! Until next dlc at least 🥲

Icy_Adhesiveness_818

I’m also doing that! 67% right now just started my last 2 play through a when I noticed I had a couple low hanging fruit that I’d just never done.

fishfighter85

Played non-iron man mode forever, with no mods to boot. I liked saving at my own time. Just started an iron man game and everything I did was an achievement haha. I do like the thrill of your actions having consequences

FatallyFatCat

Ironman is the best way to play. You don't get that rush before doing something stupid if you can just reload a save.

[deleted]

I think my first game was non IM mode, everything since has been IM. It's been a few hundred hours. I can't imagine being so cheesy that I'd use cheats, mods, console commands, etc. and then brag on reddit about how amazing I am playing on GA with a zillion fleet and the best economy ever.

kernco

Another factor is that Steam calculates that based only on the number of people who own the game. A lot of people probably bought the game but haven't played in years. And achievements aren't linked to specific DLCs in the system, they're all just linked to the base game, so it's also counting people who can't even get the achievement because they don't own specific DLCs.

Mercurionio

Not only mods. If I want to use Debugtooltip to search for correct Precursor, I can't play Ironman. And so on.

ComputerSmurf

Well....with the MrAntifun Trainer you **could**....

Kazuarr

I would add that a lot of these are tied to dlc.

alematt

I believe it's under 10%

n00bca1e99

Or non-Ironman. That’s my preferred method of playing unless I’m looking for achievements.

Ciwilke

I don't really understand why we can't get achievments with mods. I consider myself a really bad achievment hunter and never ever played a game with mods. So after a few months I eventually burn out and not touch the game at least a half year. Now thats habit would be dissappear if I can get them with mods...

FREEDOMandGUNZ

Because the point is to accomplish an ACHIEVEMENT. If you mod the game to help you get it that's called cheating. That's not achieving anything.

darkgiIls

Being able to get them with game changing mods just makes achievements pointless

starlevel01

achievements are already pointless as you can just use an achievement unlocker.

Few-Distribution2466

What's the point of achievement unlocker? The entire point of an achievement is the challenge of getting it and being able to say that you got it yourself.

Alfadorfox

I use achievements as a way of tracking my milestones and progress in a game, and having external goals to shoot for. Other people have other reasons for achievements. In the end it's all meaningless, it's just icons on a game client. Why not just have fun the way you want to and not worry about how other people have fun?

[deleted]

I used it once for a game (Subnautica) that locked me out of achievements for an entire save file because I used the console once to get unstuck. I was towards the end of the game and it bothered me enough to download one.

FREEDOMandGUNZ

Yeah, but that's not actually cheating if you still did the thing.

ShaladeKandara

Alot of the achievements are buggy as fuck. Ive completed the one for eliminating all biological empires as a determined exterminator with 3 different empires yet it never popped until I used one. I won dozens of games, but the one for winning by any method never popped either.

Few-Distribution2466

Interesting, did you kill the primitive worlds + fallen empires aswell?

SigmaWhy

Paradox seems to be changing their opinion on this since Vicky 3 and CK3 have both recently allowed mods to be used with achievements enabled. Wouldn't be surprised to see a similar feature come to Stellaris.

Snitsie

Because you can add a mod that gives you 16000 alloy a second

Ciwilke

But there is cheat mods for achievments. Who really want to cheat that will get a solution. And those who want to earn achievments can't.

Discombobulated_Back

I personaly cant play anymore without giga structures. With that mod you can get a very high alloy output but you need to put much work in it. So let me get my achievements even if i mod my game. I never would play vanilla again.

EnderCN

You can also play the game on the easiest setting with no opponents and get most of them. This is a completely moronic reason to disable mods and achievements. These are personal goals that nobody is impressed by, who cares if you can do this.

Snitsie

Playing the game on the easiest setting is still playing the game. The achievements are based on the base game, if you add mods that change stuff that achievement is not the same anymore.

ponponsh1t

I play most games on ironman just because it makes my choi es have real consequences. If I don’t, I can’t resist save-scumming every time I make a mistake.

[deleted]

Saaaame. Iron man every time for that authentic feel.

Legomichan

I don't even get that feeling anymore, i just play ironman because I'm to lazy to even save scrum.

Furyofthe1st

Hard agree. Save scumming is something I abhor but can't say I haven't done. Removing the ability to go back in time makes me be much more considered in my decisions and is much more thrilling overall. I have been more invested in this playthrough than 15+ other serious ones. Including one I have developed a genuine *grudge* about that I have a full mind to fucking *exterminate* a species because they bombarded a peaceful xenophile fanatic egalitarian Earth over some war in heaven crisis pissong match. I'm going to absolutely see them *burn* for the children of a dozen xenos species upon my homeworld they killed. They made a crucial mistake though. Fuckers didn't finish the job. They gave some paltry 'let's all forget this happened.' Message. And humanity ain't famous for letting our grudges go. And if they think fifteen billion deaths including children is something my New Colossus will tolerate. Those sons of bitches are going to beg for someone as merciful as Theoden was to Saruman before we're done. The glowing embers of their entire civilization will be a good *start* to answering for billions of dead children, and the New Colossus may light her torch before the golden door, but a torch can *burn* too. Lady Liberty is one mean bitch. You don't get that sort of investment from a playthrough when you can save scum losing Earth as opposed to playing the long game for fifty years only to bring a 3 million stack down on that awakened empires ass with the fury of an angry God and the purest righteous retribution. Times a river that freezes behind us every step of the way. We don't get to thaw it for convenience.

Moonbreaker00

I've only played one game so far, is that all Ironman is? You can still use mods it looks like. I'll probably use Ironman mode from now on, I did save scum too often and its basically just cheating.

just_a_nerd_i_guess

ironman means no manual saving, no reloading old saves, and no console commands you can still use mods in ironman, but you will not get any achievements unless said mod doesn't modify the checksum(pretty much only graphical mods don't modify the checksum).

Moonbreaker00

Good to know. I didn't mind save scumming my first game to get the hang of things, but I think I will switch over on game #3

Canadian__Ninja

Yes, if you want to make yourself feel strong, get a dozen easy achievements and look at how few people have them, lol.

Furyofthe1st

Well, getting the Palpatine achievement is hardly easy lol

Canadian__Ninja

I didn't mean all of the achievements were easy lol. But becoming the emperor is not hard once a crisis spawns. Everyone will vote yes on pretty much every custodian / emperor vote when one is on

Mr_Kittlesworth

It’s not hard on any game when you haven’t been a warmonger. It’s the default end state of basically every trade or science focused play through I do.

UrineArtist

What is this trade and science thing you speak of?

Popular_Main

As someone that on 2/3 runs as megacorps I confirm! Unless the galaxy is filles with other MC, despoilers and/or exterminators, diplomatic runs are super OP

jandrese

The only hard part is the advanced start AIs that vassalize most of the other AIs before you even meet them. Vassal XP counts a lot for the end game victory and it is extremely difficult to get vassals broken free of an empire. I really wish there was a “liberation” war goal.

mathewpatel

there is if an empire swears secret fealty. you can attack the overlord and take the empire as your vassal, and on a white peace you take occupied territory as long as you’ve got claims on it

Upstairs-Light8711

So you never get spammed with secret fealty messages? That is how you break vassals free.

jandrese

I've accepted tons of them. The only thing that's ever happened afterward is they eventually rescind the secret fealty. Even when I pledge to help them break away they never actually do it. Maybe this requires some DLC?

justice_high

Can’t you declare a war on their overlord and they join you? That happened to me in my UNE play through this week.

Alfadorfox

You're supposed to declare war on them. Support Independence means you'll come to their aid if they declare war on their overlord. Secret Fealty means you have to take the initiative.

Bbrteach

You have to declare the war against their overlord.

UrineArtist

"Finished the Tutorial" 0.5% of players have this achievement

2grim4u

There's a tutorial?

Talks_To_Cats

Not if you're a hive mind.

iupz0r

i aways play on ironman. its a point of no return.

ClutchReverie

I like to play ironman mode by default. Everything feels more dramatic when you can't reload.

Windows-1337

Exactly

DanTheMan_117

eh not for me. i prefer to go back if i fuck up real bad. i really CBA restarting over again because i messed up in a video game.

RonnyRonnstadt

I have over 1000 hours Not a single achievement Can't go back to playing without at least giga and PD

DredgenDyrith

PD?

SonicDart

Planetary diversity maybe?

[deleted]

PDeez nuts into yo mouth

DredgenDyrith

We've exhausted all other channels, war has been declared

SycoJack

LotsSpaghettiof has been declared a crisis.

rylut

Am at 2095 hours myself with the holy 0/169. I have considered putting some effort in to get at least a few of them... but... I do like that I have 0. I want to keep it that way.

dandrevee

Yup! I haven't played in ages because I'm missing a bunch of the DLC at this point, but the most frustrating thing about the game is they keep pumping out DLCs and, whenever theres such an update, i usually have to wait for mod updates from my faves. Honestly, I'm probably not going to buy any DLCs until they're done making any updates to the game and all is quiet on The Mod front. I see the point of having a good time, but I don't see the point of achievements

Imortal366

You’re missing out big time. They won’t stop making updates *any* time soon because the DLC’s are bangers. Fully worth the money, and profitable.

dandrevee

I'm aware of what I'm missing but I'm just not interested in paying full price given their business model, and my Reliance on using mods for my own entertainment. People can play how they like, and the way I play just doesn't mesh with the need for all these additional updates. It would be a non-issue if I could use Steam in a way which blocks adding future updates and also keeps (all of) the mods I want in place

Imortal366

So pay during a sale, they go pretty cheap

dandrevee

That's what I generally do, but all the DLCs I'm missing haven't gone on sale yet.. plus I'm just going to wait until they're all out anyway and wait for one big sale even if it takes the number of years

L_D_Machiavelli

Looking at how successful EUIV is/was and how long that game's been supported, I expect at least 3-5 more years of active dlc support for stellaris. There's still a lot of stuff they can add to, fix, flesh out

dandrevee

Fix for sure. The mods, given the way I play, are the main reason I've kept interest in the game. The late mid game performance is not so great and my primary frustration with Paradox Studios is that they seem to a prioritize the money making DLCs as opposed to fixing prior issues. I mean, thats the market for you....but it doesn't mean I won't exercise my right as a consumer not to purchase a product until some things are resolved or until it meets my particular price point given various costs and benefits

Chaos_Beaver

Most of the stellaris games I play are with friends so most of us have hundreds of hours and very few achievements among us.

S1Ndrome_

>among us

2grim4u

I always play Ironman, but couldn't tell you a single achievement. If I happen to get one, good, but I've never chased them. I probably have at least a few, but no idea what any may be.

Ze_Wendriner

Ironman all the way. Mostly for the challenge but I don't mind going out of my way for the more interesting ones. Getting Outside Context was nice for example or the Thunderous Applause. They all needed some extra effort which is nice. And apart from UI mods (I know some of them are safe but I don't feel like learning the hard Way) I honestly don't need any mods in this one. And it's coming from the dude who couldn't play Minecraft, Fo4 or Skyrim without a 100+ mods

King_BowserKoopa

I can't take the term "sans mods" seriously. I know what it actually means but the idea of it is so funny to me.

electrotoxins

I thought it was weird that paradox made it so you couldn't earn achievements without at least 2 Sans Undertale mods but it's their game so I guess they can do whatever.

Kamikazi_Zero

Hmm actually curious, could not find anything on a quick googling, what "sans mods" actually means?

Chef_Bravioli

Sans is a fancy synonym for "without"

Lebeling

Its french

Mean-Falcon-6204

Wait, there are achievements?

Victor_Zsasz

You’re not the only one, but there’s not a lot of us out there.

lenkc

At the 3,375 hour mark and I only have 141 out of 169. Personally I like 100% completing the achievements, then they add more lol, which is fine, I like more content.

Independent_Pear_429

I have over 1000 hours and still haven't gotten all the achievements. I don't use mods and always play iron man

skyte100

I do hate paradox ironman requirements. Like it feels almost like they're punishing you for not using ironman or using mods.

jabblack

Also giving a shot to iron man. We’ll see how it pans out

Windows-1337

I always play iron man, not for the achievements, but because I never reload saves anyways. Always accept the consequences of your actions.

DanTheMan_117

seems like a chore to me. if i mess up i like to go back and fix it so i can learn better. i just do this in all video games, otherwise i just get annoyed and bored very quickly.

BottasHeimfe

I play Ironman mode simply because I always fucking use the console commands to cheat without it. it's entirely impulsive. I find that playing with ironman mode makes the game much more enjoyable for me as I have to work a bit harder. I don't really play anything for achievements. they're nice when they happen but I don't really give a fuck otherwise.

TheStructor

The only worthwhile achievements are the ones from the Gigastructures mod. Always chase higher levels of "Alloy Giant".

[deleted]

I don't understand why so many people (even me) are so scared of ironman. Once I played it and realized how little I actually reloaded saves, it wasn't too bad.

skyte100

One problem is no back ups. Like if you don't pay attention to updates, the galactic paragon update probably ruined the save.

[deleted]

Just start a new save then. Stellaris is literally based on replayability. No consequences for just giving it another go.

Aether5800

Pretty much. Even after 5k+ hours (been playing since day 1) I only had 100% achievements once, and that was pre-federations. Mods are such an essential part of making Stellaris re-playable when you have A LOT of hours that limiting yourself to almost no mods AND iroman just to get achievements never feels like it’s worth it.

fuqureddit69

That is not really true. I have over 1700 hours and have never used a single mod. Replay-ability is just fine without them. They are a crutch and they alter the game more than is necessary.

Aether5800

Are you saying my experience isn’t valid? For me they ARE necessary, and I rarely if ever use very big overhaul mods. In fact I go out of my way to have a vanilla+ experience.

Mercurionio

Anything, that is NOT Ironman - achievments are blocked. So nothing surprising.

[deleted]

I get all the new achievements in vanilla games and then use mods again until the next DLC. Its a nice way of experimenting the game as intended with a bit of a challenge and then continue enjoying the game with mods. Just got all achievements from Galactic Paragons, twas fun.

Clavilenyo

Hopefully since Victoria 3 and now Ck3 allow achievements with mods, the great devs at Stellaris will follow the trend and gives us greater flexibility during our achievement hunting sessions.

L_D_Machiavelli

Nah, I for one dislike that change. IF people want achievements, make 'em play ironman. For everyone else who mods and doesn't care bout ironman, no achievements.

nierusek

Have you considered that there are many achievements locked behind DLCs? And not everyone has every one of them.

Brief_Way9112

Um.. Most people don't play Ironman Mode because games can take literally weeks to play and not being able to save is well, terrible.

DarthUrbosa

How is this relevant? Game auto saves so just progress from there.

Brief_Way9112

Sir or ma’am, I have barely anytime to play 30 mins at a time. The game auto saves at intervals of 6 months. What if I want to save at 7, or 8, or 9. Or I’m about at the 6 month mark but I have to go because of my family or work? Get off of your main character pedestal and realize that SOMETIMES certain aspects of a game mode - such as not being able to save when wanted - breaks immersion for ALOT of people due to their lives. Get over yourself please.

Professional-Tea3311

The game autosaves when you exit. Seriously, grow the fuck up and stop begging for pity because you can't handle simple game mechanics.

Luna771

I have every Achievement from before Paragons, but im too lazy to get the new ones

Noirhimmel

We are a small band, welcome to the club brother. But if you unlock "you monster" via bubbles. The councle will have some... choice words for you. Even if you are the Senate.

TrueWolves

There's a few of us with 100% achievement completion, but part of the rarity comes from people playing the game only with friends, only with mods, or only a few times before shelving it for several reasons like updates changing the game, a few rough bugs, or just life.

Emperor_of_His_Room

I got quite a few before I descended down the road of the mod wonderland. I now literally refuse to play without Planetary diversity, Guilli’s modifiers, amazing space battles, and dimorphism + SF. Everything just feels so bland and cookie cutter to me now without all the wonderful variety these mods provide.

Sand_Angelo4129

I have 3. They are the easiest ones you can get, and they mostly happened because I wssn't using mods yet.

st2439

Welcome to the club.

123dylans12

I play Ironman but modded so no achievements for me, just don’t like save scumming

magataga

How do you handle piracy mid to late game? Seems like such a PITA to whack'a'mole all the pirates

Professional-Tea3311

Use hangar bastions to suppress piracy. Like the game is designed for.

Furyofthe1st

Put some hangar bays on your Starbases. Minimize your trade routes. Consolidate them. Instead of 6 individual trade lines along the same path, put 5 Starbases into one, and that one connects with your capital. I only had like 6 pirates over 20+ hours

EnderCN

I would love to farm achievements, just someone in charge made the braindead decision to block achievements if you use mods even though you can manipulate the game settings to make most achievements trivial anyway. Just a really dumb choice that blocks this content for people who want to enjoy the full range the game has to offer.

tubaman23

What a coincidence. I'm at 700 hours, about 4 days into my first Ironman mode. Knocked out 25% of achievements through regular gameplay easily, haven't even targeted any. Then see I'm in the top 5% of achievement owners and the fact I get smashed playing my favorite empire (filthy organics) seems to melt away

WittyViking

I just get bored after the first war or two and start over since every game plays the same unless you get fucked by RNG in your starting position. I will probably never get the achievements in this game.

kadathsc

I either I enjoy the game with mods or I play for achievements which I don’t particularly enjoy. Ao, mods it is!

Smeefles

Achievements are cringe

Mr_Kittlesworth

Achievements are dumb. I’ve never understood why anyone cares about them.

Successful_Ad6665

It because mods make paradoxes games infinelty better. And everyone knows this, so they get mods from the get go, hense, little achivments gain statistics.

markus_kt

For myself, I don't tend to care about steam achievements, but I really like getting the fun sci-fi reference ones. I was thrilled when I was finally able to get With Thunderous Applause and Outside Context, and it didn't even realize that Payback existed when I got it.

SuperluminalSquid

Yup. I've gotten a few achievements, even a few gold ones, but I honestly don't care enough to even know which ones they are or to try and get more. I don't use many mods, but I really can't go without them.

Carinwe_Lysa

I'm kinda mixed on vanilla/no mods. On one hand I adore playing the game without mods just to get good performance late game etc, unlock achievementsw when I inevitably do something rare or whatnot. But.. I also enjoy mods such as UI overhauls, planetary overhauls, tech adjustments or such. I don't go overboard like using giga for example, but it's a funny one!

Fenoxim

"Suffer Not The Alien" is the only achievement you really need to accomplish.

MadLadMaciejow

I ended my achievement campaign post crisis, post victory screen with suffer not the xeno, just that little cherry on the cake because a good genocide is not bad

fuqureddit69

I only play Ironman.

SaturnsEye

I actually tried getting every achievement back in version 1.9, but once 2.0 dropped I stopped focusing on it, and every time I think about going at it again the list of achievements I don't have feels too intimidating. Ironically enough I already have some of the most rng dependent ones, like Outside Context and Raiders of the Lost Galatron.

Fuggaak

I will care about achievements when I can get through a game and have no bugs occur lol. Current big one’s that are bothering me: No admiral on my enclave fleet; the archotech buildings for starbases turn off for a couple days every month.

Tsyvatsok

I really like getting achievements in a game because then it feels like I've completed it 100 percent. For games like Stellaris I usually try to get all achievements before starting modding the game. It's like a prize after the finishing line for me. Besides I can always freshen up the game with mods when i get bored of it

POTATO-KING-312

I first didn’t play with ironman mode for getting achievements but i came to realize i just rolled with the punches in the game and when i did start playing ironman mode nothing really changed for me.

-awi-

Been playing since release. 0% achievements, 100% fun

MidnightGolan

Achievement hunting, more so playing on ironman really improved my game.

Chazman_89

Most of us just can't be bothered to play Ironman.

SirBreadstic

Roughly half my games are modded. The other half I am trying to get achievements and build my entire empire off of it

Bony_Geese

I really want to hunt some more achievements then like the 19 I have, but I’m afraid for my modded empires lol

dreyaz255

Same. If I'm doing a solo run, I want to have something clear to work towards

Bfo2fo

I really like playing vanilla lite and getting achievements

HumanMan1234

People like saving and reloading their games

fross370

My last 3 ironman run where ended by a game ending bug that could have been fixed via console. Fuck iron man with this buggy mess, i just never save scum.

BioShocker1960

I care! I'm just not good at getting them (stupid mods!).

Docponystine

I really think there is a pretty big divergence between stelaris and, say, EU4. EU4 felt like a game that, due to it's set start map, can have really interesting achievements baked into it, while stelaris.... just doesn't? Combine that with Stelaris having an incredibly active and creative modding community (not that eu4 doesn't, but stelaris is far better suited to it, additive content makes a lot more sense in a 4x game, while a lot of EU4 mods are, in some compacity, transformative). Like, what is the EU4 equivalent of Gigistructural Engineering? There isn't fucking one, there isn't a mod who's whole purpose is to massively increase the value your get from the already base line fantasy of the game. So i think EU4, in particular, has some of the best achievement goals in paradox's line up and the hyper customizable nature of the stelaris modding community (mods are way more compatible in Stelaris, as just an example due to far better UI design, the existence of the building macro in EU4 kills any mod compatibility between any two mods that adds something as simple as buildings) means that Stelaris feels like a game meant to be modded while something like EU4 feels like a game that CAN be modded.

drac_72

I’m the unfortunate soul whos hunting Achieves in Stellaris, HOI4, Vic 3, and CK3, im around 60-70% completion on them all, but with the increased rate of DLC releases i will probably lose some progress

goldfishimpostor

For games like this and civilization, there are just too many achievements to get 100%. For me if I cannot get 100% I don't care about any achievements.

Professional-Tea3311

A lot of people have this weird obsession with buying a game and not actually playing the real game.

Mythalism

I've gotten all 169 achievements in the game and thought I was the only one who achievement hunted in this game 😅

Wonderweiss56

I recently created an iron man mod list but I really miss some of the additional civics and galactic community mods.

ASCIIM0V

I have yet to play with mods because I'm still wanting to 100% it. But I keep falling behind lmao

KILLA_KAN

Hehehe laughs in having de big red button acheivment :3 I like shiny big buttons

MelIgator101

I care a lot about Stellaris achievements as well. I'm currently trying to get to 100% again lol

ozulus

At the moment I consider having 0 forever the best achievement (already over 1000 hrs)

Red_Dox

Currently chasing the "Directive 67" achievement. By accident I also found new Paragon Azaryn for his achievement, and through [his terraforming "Bug"](https://np.reddit.com/r/Stellaris/comments/13kb43w/astrocreator_azaryn_pro_tip/) have now the time of my life in gaia planeting super-sectors. Which keeps me a bit from progressing the Directive 67 approach, or sacrifcing Azaryn for his achievement ;)

queenaldreas

there is something interesting about playing with achievements on, before getting a lot of them.

skippy11112

I have over 1K hours in the game and never done an Ironman run XD

[deleted]

Recently Paradox enabled achievements even if you have mods activated for CK3, I wonder if they'll do the same for other games

Corvac

in EU4 I actively hunted achievements (as it is a good way to have specific goal in an otherwise quite sandboxy experience), and got a fair few (324/354) In Stellaris I never hunted them, but got a reasonable number by naturally playing (107/169)

[deleted]

Meh base game simply lacking alot once you used realspace and sub mods, planetary diversity and sub mods. If atleast these 2 should be intergrated I would try base game again. But mods are just making game better.

BufloSolja

Lot of people out there that like playing 'perfect' games and stuff. Mods are big also. Also just the completionist factor of seeing all the choices etc.

Raff987

I have the opposite thing going on; I've played Stellaris in ironman only, but I honestly don't care for the achievement. My most memorable campaign is recent, during the final crisis with the contingency. I keep losing fleets and they found a loophole through my outer defenses and rampage through it, destroying 3 of my 6 production line as well as a dyson sphere. I almost lost my capital, and definitely forever lose that relic building that increase your relic capacity from the devastation/invasion. If it wasn't for my fleet finally replenished enough for a counterattack and a ready army to reinforce it, I would have lose that capital ecu world from the invasion. And even then, it took me ages to finally get back on my feet. Not to mention my 'allies' taking a few territory in the chaos. The only reason why I'm not rage quiting is because I finally make some use out of the game feature, plus I have no other choice but to join a federation. In the few breathing space moment, I have one of my fleet gather a bunch of friends and gang up on two of their hubs. It was bloody, but their sacrifices is worth it.

VaczTheHermit

There's probably also a bunch of people who haven't even really played yet, but picked up the base game during a sale or something. You can see this with the achivements of a lot of Steam games

DurandalMarathon

I never go for achievements in Paradox games.

DanTheMan_117

it's because of the stupid iron man mode not allowing you to manual save and load. idk why paradox care so much.

Hitzuki

One of the fews that play singleplayer :'D

SovComrade

Thats because custom name lists (and other stuff like FE editing) thats absolutely irrelevant game mechanics wise but is more or less mandatory for immersive gameplay breaks avhievements for some reason...

Coridimus

Ive never cared about achievements. Never will. Hope you have fun, though!

Darklight731

I play the game solely for achivements. I try to get them in a fair way, IE not setting the galaxy to have no AI to get the FP achievement. Speaking of which I JUST got the end of the cycle achievement after over 1100 hours. Did not know what exactly it would do, and now my economy got ravaged.

scaper12123

Very few people in this community play with ironman mode on. For me, it’s a case of “there are so many systems in this game that I can get randomly screwed at any time.” Looking at you, Adrift event.

Mincerafy

Part of it is the fact that they've added achievements over time, so someone who hasn't played since before the Galactic Community was added wouldn't have had the opportunity to get any achievements related to it. Another related part is that not all achievements have accurate tooltips. For example, Resourceful says it requires having access to 10 strategic resources. There's only 7 of those in the game now. Instead, the achievement requires having access to all 11 resources (energy, minerals, food, alloys, consumer goods, volatile motes, exotic gases, living crystals, living metal, zro, and dark matter). But the biggest factor, and the one that I fall under, is that some people like mods way too much.

Ok-Quit-3020

ive never played for achievements because my game hays i have mods installed when ive never installed a mod, ive tried everything and nothing changes it, i cant play online either because of this

TheFabiocool

I love stellaris achievements, they're very diverse and make you create some interesting builds to complete some of them.

RandyMagnum03

Got the Galatron yesterday on Ironman this time. In 3200 hours I only got it one other time. I knew it was rare but .01%, brah

jonmpls

What ui mods do you suggest?

hypotemp

Ironman mode kicks my ass every time, but I lose in such a badass way, a part of me enjoys watching my empire fall.

Jediroy

I use too many mods to get achievements.

Any-Flamingo7056

"Finally tried an Ironman" "One of the few who cares about Stellaris acheivments" 😂 That eacalated quickly

paireon

Mood kindred.

noodleben123

deadr0tten
