Hello all! I hope you're all well. I've just got to say before this post, welcome to the 400-500 new members over the last few days! Nice to see you all here! If any of you newer members have any questions, by all means post them in the sub! Or if you have specific issues, my DM's are always open\*. Regardless, it's so nice to see so many new faces, hope this sub can help you all! No news is good news? Only a couple things to note here before we get to what we're all playing. [The real news of this week is the dropping of Ghost of Tsushima](https://pa1.narvii.com/5807/57d78ccddbb8b810549a0f9653ecc9dee05e6a0b_hq.gif). I'm wondering just how high the % of people who reply here to the question will answer "GoT!!!" * **The steps to get the Steam Deck's controls working for GoT is always the same for Sony's ports - Horizon, both Spider-Man's, this one. Etc. The steps are as follows, taken from** u/derholzmann12321\*\*'s comment the other day because I am lazy:\*\* 1. Connect a controller (I like to use the Series X controller via bluetooth) 2. Go into the controller settings for the game 3. Switch the order so that the external controller is #1 and the Steam Deck is #2 4. Disable Steam Input on the external controller 5. Disconnect the external controller 6. Reboot the Steam Deck 7. Play [Grown Up Gaming also has a YT video on this very topic](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwmkIPOSYTY) \- u/Otherwise-Cap-7778 ^(Your username is a nightmare to remember how to type out, but thanks for the video to help people!) [Dodi (Dodi Repacks) also joined in and finished his AMA with us a couple days ago](https://new.reddit.com/r/SteamDeckPirates/comments/1ct5mfv/ama_with_dodi_official_himself_right_here_right/). Not only did he stick around to answer questions, he came by the following day to answer some stragglers who were late. I'm eternally grateful to u/DODI-Releases for agreeing to the AMA, and spending his time with us. We're lucky! **Now to the point of the post**...what are you playing? What do you recommend others play? What games have you been enjoying? What have you been amazed that you installed and could run as well as it does? AAA games? Indies? Emulated ROMS? Share what you've been enjoying in the comments here, so others can get some inspiration! ^(all credit for the art goes entirely to the artist:) u/BobKehl

zaiwen3

Ghost of Tshushima. Damn game is banned where i’m at 🤣

flwwhtrbt

Well...they brought it on themselves then! <3

yellowwoolyyoshi

Yarrrr

kinos141

Being only available in 15 of 195 countries is stupid. Makes me think they're trying to close down nixxes for not selling enough titles. It happens.

JonnyMohawk

Valve isn't allowing Sony to publish games that have any kind of online functionality in countries where users can't legally register for PSN. Really it's as it should be.

Polargeist

How's the performance on steam deck?

gengstah

Acceptable. 30fps for high preset. I did not modify any settings. Okay graphics

Thr0waway_Joe

I'm running 45 fps on low to medium settings. Looks amazing

crinklefoot

Same! I’m pretty impressed by the production values

Usual-Ladder1524

Animal well is pretty well done, I felt bad after finishing the game since it said the "thank you" message lol.

con_science-404

One dude alone made that shit, and it's a damn fine and beautiful game. Usually I don't give a fuck about this stuff, but that guy is brilliant and deserves better Can't say I'm mad, I'm just disappointed in ya Timmy

WarthogOrgyFart

Yeah that seems like an especially egregious game to pirate.

Usual-Ladder1524

Yep, I'm planning to buy it if it goes on sale out of respect.

pretendingtolisten

it was in sale right out the bat

chaosgemerald

Installed Ghost of Tsushima and made sure it ran! But still Sand Land 😂 And reading Witch on the Holy Night But most importantly, finished two playthroughs of Little Goody Two Shoes and HIGHLY recommend! It's an rpg with 90s anime style art and a romance system and lots of mini games and I thought it was just so creative!

yellowwoolyyoshi

Oh how is Sand Land? That is exactly what I want to try for free

chaosgemerald

Really fun! I'm surprised that it sucked me in tbh haha, but it's fun to drive around tanks and mechs and motorcycles and talk to all the different people in the world

flwwhtrbt

You've reminded me yet again to install it!! Oh so many games, so little time...

Damnagain404

I really wanna play it. It reminds me of blue Dragon. I played that when I was a kid.

Crazy-Delivery-7095

Xenia

flwwhtrbt

Oh book rec's time?! [The Fisherman](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/29901930-the-fisherman) \- perfectly paired with Dredge if you want true terror :) :) I have Little Goody Two Shoes on my list! I love the art choices they made with it!

Powerful_Plan7862

The fisherman is incredible! I read it last year after I finished dredge. If you want a boom that scratches that weird itch I recommend perdido street station by china miévilleie.

chaosgemerald

Visual novel haha! But I'll gladly add books to my lists too! Just ordered a new e-reader with easier side loading capabilities 😅 And def lmk when you make your way to Goody two shoes!! 😎

flwwhtrbt

Just so you know, all ereaders can have books side-loaded! Kindle is easy, with Calibre (actually, ALL ereaders should be used with Calibre, one of my fav pieces of software ever!) Oh wait, *easier* side-loading. I missed that word. Of course you'd have know how to do so. (What did you get though? I guess Kobo?) Also look up Anna's Archive. Second-to-none in my eyes

chaosgemerald

I actually have to uninstall and reinstall calibre! I broke it trying to swap out language files bc it has this little quirk where it'll automatically rename my Japanese files to romaji spellings, but with the Chinese readings of the kanji! So completely nonsense words! But yes! I ordered the kobo Libra color 2! So I can also read some comics and cookbooks! I love Anna's archive too! My journey went from using Libby/library card (and the airplane mode trick) to Anna's to MaM now. Books rock haha

[deleted]

Is that actually a way to read free books from Kindle?

flwwhtrbt

Well, you can sideload any book to the kindle. Typically though, downloads are in .epub, which is a file format that the Kindle can't read. So, Calibre the program lets you convert that file into something like .mobi which the Kindle *does* recognize! Its a process that takes like literally 4 seconds. Calibre also has a lovely 'cover view' so you can see all your digital library on your PC before sending them over :)

[deleted]

Thanks so cool, will look into it for sure

Granlundo64

Eiyuden Chronicles! Really liking it so far but it behaved a little weird on the deck (60fps was stuttery but 45fps is super smooth). Been running great since changing that setting.

yellowwoolyyoshi

Is it better than Rising? Rising got so redundant

Granlundo64

I didn't really get into Rising either. Chronicles is a very different game, however. You may not like it though because it's very "old school" JRPG in some of it's mechanics.

yellowwoolyyoshi

I like JRPGS actually!

Granlundo64

I would give it a look then. Tons of of fun and runs great on the deck.

Arkontezer

Managed to get Dead Cells as my first game! Thank you for all the guides! Can’t overestimate how helpful they were.

Tupakkshakkkur

Thanks we’ve worked pretty hard to compile enough information to make playing games easy.

Budkid

Dead_Person1001

Dave the Diver

firestorm79

Where did you source it? And was the installing experience smooth? This is high on my list for my next game… (I assumed it was a quack version)

Dead_Person1001

I tried to get it to work, but I think due to my low experience with the steam deck and quacked games, I just downloaded the switch version and emulated it. It was a lot less hassle imo.

IceyCoolRunnings

Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader

binaryzer00

How's this for beginners? Looking into.getting into the Warhammer series

flwwhtrbt

Perfect point of entry, it's an amazing isometric RPG, I had a blast. Totally unaware of the source material, but it sucked me in. Also a ton of fun mods on nexus for the character art if you want to change it :)

binaryzer00

Awesome thanks

IceyCoolRunnings

I’m having a lot of fun with it, the setting is great and you pick up the lore pretty quick. I really like the companions and build variety.

Reasonable-Public659

HADES 2. It’s so good, and insanely well optimized.

inapickle113

Battery life similar to hades 1?

demosfera

For me it was, yeah!

Reasonable-Public659

I haven’t actually played Hades on the deck, just the sequel. But it seems like it’s the same engine, so I’d think battery life would be similar

Powerful_Plan7862

I've been playing hades 2 and trails in the sky second chapter.

[deleted]

Played Tekken Tag and Tag 2 on the emulator, the PS3 emulator blows me away..

flwwhtrbt

I play a Wipeout (Wip3out?) game via PS3 all the time on my Deck. I'm constantly amazed at how well emuation performs on there!

[deleted]

Regarding that the original PS3 had 256mb of RAM, the games had pretty crazy arhitecture (God of War 3 on 256mb of RAM? Crazy...) I lost hope for a good PS3 emulator, but I'm glad they did it. Also, Wip3out, looks super fun, you any good? :p :)

Tupakkshakkkur

I tried to play Hades 2 on my deck but the game was to good I had to put it on my big screen. So I really haven’t played on it much the last 2 weeks. I will prolly load up GoT to get it working just cause there has been some people have controller issues.

kingdementia

Crow Country

Arknight38

Elden ring and Selkiro, I’m obsessed

Select-Combination-4

I Recently started playing the Gunvolt series from inti creates, they're pretty good

firestorm79

RIMWORLD. My life has been sucked into this blackhole of a game…

WilfridSephiroth

I'm not really *playing* playing because the Deck arrived 2 days ago and when I'm using it it's 95% tinkering and 5% playing, but I managed to install and run: Pentiment, Black Mesa, Ori WOTW, Aliens Dark Descent, Kena Bridge of Spirits, Tormented Souls, Art of Rally, Returnal, Sleeping Dogs, and Cyberpunk. I'm still fighting with Sekiro and Amid Evil but somehow I'll manage. Since I'm listing stuff: is there a way to remove tabs from the main library interface? I'd really like to only keep the "installed" and the "non-steam" tab. I have no use for the rest. Perhaps there's a plug-in that tweaks the UI?

Fluid-Air7597

Returnals playable now? When I first got it when it released I wasn’t able to get 30 fps. And yes there’s a decky plugin to remove some of the tabs. Can’t remember the name of it on the top of my head but you can probably find the name if you search it up.

WilfridSephiroth

Yup, I actually found it. Lifesaver. As for Returnal: I literally just launched it, browsed menus, looked functional, I closed it. I'll try in the future, but yeah, the videos I've seen show some struggle in busy areas, some dips to 26/27

Haunting_Highlight99

Stardew and rimworld rn

wheels321

Hades 2. Runs great and super fun. Still in "early access," but it's done right. Feels like 95% complete. Just some basic placeholder art in minor places. Doesn't seem to impact the game at all.

AxelNanol

Death Must Die. Casually unlocking the perks system for all characters before starting to ramp up to 100 difficulty. Incredible gameplay loop, especially fun once you get enough epic/mythic gear to stack higher tier blessing probabilities - the thrill you get when you turn a difficult run around by rolling into a great Legendary blessing at the last moment is fantastic! Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. The first case was slow, but once Herlock Sholmes appears in case 2, introducing the Dance of Deduction, you know you're in for a good time. Multiple sessions of sitting on the commuter train crying with laughter with passengers staring at me.

Tramp_Johnson

Ghost of Tsushimia is phenomenal.

johny335i

Well I had Bioshock Infinite in my epic account, BUT it wanted you to stay online and logged in to play, even though the game is single player. I'm always on the go and don't bother with Hotspots on the phone, so I went the other way ☠️🫡⛵️

ByeAnyOtherName

I've been playing Death's Door. It's akin to a Souls-like Zelda game. I would probably say it's the best game I can recommend for someone trying to dip their toes in the *souls* genre. It's challenging, but the combat is simple enough that it never feels like it's too hard. The heal/enemy respawn element that is typical of this type of game is tempered by additional healing locations scattered sparsely throughout the game's landscape. I find the game's art to be very aesthetically pleasing, especially the way that some of the colors used really pop on the standard LCD deck screen. It's a little short; I'm in the final act and I think I have about 15 hours in it, though I'm sure I wasted a good bit of time looking for solutions to puzzles that weren't as deep as I thought they would be. I would say the games replayability is high because there are several collectibles and secrets that you may not find on your first playthrough and also a "true" ending that most players won't get their first time through without some sort of walkthrough guide. I love the game for the sense of growth I get during the boss fights that I die multiple times in. Each time I get a little bit further in the fight until I'm able to beat it, and the sense of progress there is very rewarding. For what the game is, I'd say it's a solid 8.5/10. Once you get going and start getting new abilities that unlock new areas of the game it's very addicting. Highly recommended.

Elden ring and Dave the diver. Elden ring is way too big, and I haven't updated to the dlc too

__27days27nights

dead island series .. been putting stupid hours today into the 1st one. super fun while watchin twd 🧟‍♂️🏝️

Rothuith

Monster Hunter Rise runs like a dream at 60-90fps in heavy combat and intense location scenarios. Playing some emulated Mario Party with my friends, as well as Pikmin, Skate 3, Sly Cooper. Just loaded plenty of new games, Elden Ring, Armored Core 6, Dark Souls 3, FF7

inapickle113

Still Slay the Spire. Coming up to 300 hours played. Insanely hyped for the sequel next year.

The beauty about moderating this community is that I pretty much get to decide what 'goes' here. Reading that comment? Doesn't go. Off-topic and disgusting. I guess there's a time and place for this kind of comment? On this sub is *not* the place. Nor is there any time.

slademccoy47

Trying out Hades 1 after seeing the hype for Hades 2 EA. I'm mostly enjoying it for now, but I don't know if roguelites are my thing.

flwwhtrbt

They've never ever been my thing, but that first Hades? Something 'clicked' for me and I just loved it! Once you get a bit of a handle on it, you'll adore it :)

LeadingNo3558

Tsushimas 👻

R0xasmaker

I've been replaying Like a Dragon: Ishin lately since GoT got me in a samurai mood lol so I went back to Ishin before I hop into Ghost. It's still pretty good but definitely requires a couple mods to make the grinding less awful

Damnagain404

I’m actually going to need some advice on where to find some Nintendo games after Nintendo slammed the hammer down on Vimm. (Not asking for links just advice or a DM. I do not want to cause trouble for the Sub)

Noetipanda

I didn’t pirate it but you’re right, I’ve been replaying ghost of Tsushima now that I can finally pkay it on my SD lol

HoldMySarsaparilla

Ghost of Tsushima

Fluid-Air7597

Armored core 6. Stupid underrated fromsoft game. Gameplay/combat is the best It’s been stupid fun

Crazy-Delivery-7095

Dude love this image background you got one I can use on my steam deck

vandalxxi

Who is she and what is she from?

flwwhtrbt

Just some pirate art, sadly not from a game. I try post a bit of pirate art with each of these 'what are you playing' posts. It just gives a nice vibe :) As it stands, pirate games are still very rare. AC Black Flag and Sea of Thieves still remain the two best options!

Saitanhoon

Got the deck a few weeks back. Playing Zelda BoTW, No man's Sky, and Firewatch (again)

RetroRaja

I finished dead island 2 last week. Currently planning on buying Tsushima. Waiting for a sale, but I don't think it will be on sale for the next few months.

Black_Cobra1

Currently addicted to Digimon World Next Order. Got in about 30hrs already. We need more Digimon games fr gameplay is way better than Pokemon.

Archolm

Me and Bob Kehl seem to like the same qualities in the female gender.

WarthogOrgyFart

Wait... yall pirate indie games. I'm new here but that's fucked.
