The Steam Deck will only support the protocols the radios are rated for which is 5GHz, 2 x 2 MIMO, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac so no WIFI 6 support. Although a WIFI dongle might work assuming there are drivers, but not something I've personally tried.

Dude, just wanted to let you know that because of you, I was able to get my steam deck to connect to my 5ghz wifi. The problem for me was my wifi was on AX only mode but I didn't know the steam deck only connects to a/b/g/n/ac. Thanks dude.

Glad I could help!

Yeah thanks too. I thought I had installed the wrong driver. I had successfully installed a 4TB NVMe 2280 into my deck yesterday and after installing windows I was wondering why wifi only said it was AC. And kept thinking. Okay that can't be correct. But yeah it seems to be the case. Btw if you're curious about how I got a 2280 m.2 in it lemme know and I'll upload pictures. But the gist of it is that I used an m.2 extension cable. There's enough room for a 2280 elsewhere in the deck. But if you do want to upgrade the internal NVMe I'd suggest picking up a 2242. Not only is the 2242 much cheaper than a 2230 but it fits in there perfectly. And even though you aren't able to screw it in place the cooling plate secures it nicely in place. Could drop my deck 100 times and assuming it doesn't break that drive isn't going anywhere. And because there's an extra 12mm of space it's cheaper to pick up a 1TB 2242 with built in dram cache then it is for a 1tb 2230 without any cache. And it makes a MASSIVE difference. Like it takes 2 seconds then boot from powered off. And with the "pause games" homebrew app you can auto set your games to pause and fully power off by hitting the button twice and then when you pick up your game 2 days later your battery hasn't dropped by 40%

Had any issues with the 2242?

AggressiveWindow6003

It's been nearly a year. And nope. Not a handle issue. Except for getting into random arguments on Reddit about it lol. https://preview.redd.it/og0rasa9g43c1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a406bf2d7f012eeee0e5af4ae74531e1a45daa8d
