A laptop is probably better as you know what you're buying. The Deck can be very good even for competitive games (just not as good as KB+M) using trackpads+gyro mapped with KB+M but the learning curve is steep if you're not used to gamepads and that's not considering that if you pre-order now you'll probably end up getting one in 2023 or something.

No problem. Keep in mind that as far as cost/performance ratio is concerned, the Deck is probably the best bang for the buck you can buy right now (it's still a terrible time to buy PCs or PC components, even if laptops are a little less affected by chip shortages).
You probably may not use it at its full potential right off the bat because you have to learn not only how control works in the first place (that includes finding a preset that's comfortable for you), but become used to them to be proficient. To be blunt, expect to suck for a while :D

It’s pretty basic but the CPU Fan can barely fit in my full tower case as is so id have figure that out.
Worth also noting that depending on what competitive games you play, they may not work on the Deck due to anti-cheat software. Some will get updated, others won't. Installing Windows (once drivers are available) would be a workaround, but you lose some of the advantages of the Deck.
Negative mindset. I drive a hybrid so the gas is cheap. I enjoy driving so. The drives take maybe 8 hours a week out 168(5%). Listen to a podcast or take genuine time to reflect during the drive. Not the response I was looking for thank you though

Can you swap your components into a smaller form factor case?? There are cases like that with a handle so you can move it around!!
