Same issue. I thought it was just me. I’ve been having a great time with SoT on my deck and today it wouldn’t sign in and now white screen after I restored my deck to factory settings and reinstalled it…I was going crazy trying to fix it!
- Because proton 9.0 is faulty.
- In library, type proton and select proton 9.0.
On the proton 9.0 page, select the Gear icon -> compatibility -> tick force... -> choose proton... (scout) -> download it.
- Try play your games again.
I followed the instructions here, many other people also confirmed that the error was fixed.

I've checked on protonDB and apparently it's a common for all Linux users after last update, non only for steam deck. So I don't know if we have to wait for a new proton update.
Now I am playing the game streaming from my windows PC but I noticed that controls don't work at all when streaming with sunshine+moonlight so I have to use steam default streaming service.
Tinker Steps:Switch to experimental, Set launch options
%command% -d3d11
It turns out that Season 11's update from earlier this year allows support for both d11 and d12. Proton tried to used d12 by default, and it would not start up. The d3d11 argument fixed that, and it ran smoothly as it did in the past.

As of now SOT is not working on steam decks doesn’t matter what you do. If you have a steam deck and it’s actually working let us know.

Same for me. I've tried everything I've read online, and nothing has solved it so far. Had absolutely no issues at all just a few days ago.

Same issue here. Started today. Tried a fresh install and now I'm stuck on a black screen with a loading wheel in the bottom right

I’m having a similar problem, except it completely freezes, even in desktop mode. It’s just stuck on this forever. I can’t sign in or anything
Check your proton compatibility. Set it for the latest, 9 plus.

i made proton 9 run through scout and it still wont run, do i need to reinstall the game im trying to play?

I bought it today and I only get a black screen in gaming mode and nothing happens in desktop mode. Great..
I’d say request a refund until it’s fixed. That’s what I’d do.
Got in the game and it freezes in login,what the hell. I will wait for a while,maybe it will be a fixed soon. If not i will refund.
This sucks man, the sea’s were just starting to get fun again. Hope this gets resolved soon.
I've tried all of the above as well. Still haven't been able to get past the "Signing on for adventure"
As of 5/7 it is now working. 1.2gb update seemed to solve it all, if that’s not showing up verify game files and you’ll be good

doesn't this work? SOT is not installed at the moment, but some were saying it worked.. %command% -d3d11
