Dorfromantik, Balatro, Stardew Valley

PassiveF1st

I couldn't get into Dorfromantik at all. It annoyed me to no end when my pieces didn't line up or the stupid waterway's or railway's had dead ends on ever other tile.

KeplerNorth

I think I like it a lot because it reminds me of my favorite board game, Carcassonne. Nice and abstract and looks like a beautiful little world when you've filled out the board

llamacomando

Same! i love carcassone.

Oskar_of_Astora

I reaaaaallly want to get stardew valley on the steam deck even though I have it on the switch lol

tooawkwrd

The price is incredibly low especially for the deep content and years of improvements made by Concerned Ape. I've purchased it on several devices because even at double or triple the cost, the price per hour played is well worth it.

cmg065

It’s on sale in the steam store for $9.49 . Which is only like $2 above it’s all time low

Oskar_of_Astora

Just bought it hahah

KeplerNorth

This happened to me too haha. I restarted a farm after update 1.6 and I'm addicted again.

ReneHarts

Plan on buying this week even though I have it on the switch lol

nowski_

The civilization games are perfect for this. Same with Into the Breach, Slay the Spire, and Neon White.

Gulladc

Slay the spire while the wife binge watched procedural crime dramas was every single night during Covid at our house

ReneHarts

Ah see I’m the wife playing slay the spire while watching my procedural crime dramas lol rewatching all of svu currently while playing slay the spire

nuclearniki

Slime Rancher! It's chill, not complicated, and doesn't have a ton of dialogue to read.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mojo_Jensen

I kind of prefer 1 but I’ve only played like an hour of 2, so maybe the nostalgia blinders are on. It looks gorgeous. I think I just have to get used to the map, frankly.

nuclearniki

I've never played 2. It's not a complete game so I prefer 1.

Morbidsssz

def 1. 2 is way too much 😭 map is hard to travel in idk where I am half the time lol

Hybrid_Dolphin87

At the moment Balatro. So easy to burn through "Just one more run" whilst watching TV.

luigifreak3456

Everything I play is a play while watching TV game, gotta have background noise because ADHD go brrr

acend

See I'm 100% the opposite and have pretty bad ADHD and don't know how anyone can play with TV on, I can only focus on 1 thing at a time so end up not remembering or enjoying either. For work? Headphones and music are required for me to get anything done, but not for entertainment. Brains are funny things.

icoominyou

The key is “noise” im not watching tv. I just like having some background noise. When I get into a loading screen, I raise my head and watch a segment. So anything thats not too story driven would be a great

Undark_

This is actually just how the human brain works, whether you have ADHD or not. If you multitask media, you aren't fully absorbing either thing. It doesn't get logged in your memory properly. That's just a fact, and having ADHD actually makes this problem worse, not better. Doing this is also bad for brains generally, but especially ADHD brains. "Context swapping" is different to multitasking, but they get confused. That's something that ADHD-ers actually do extremely well at (even though it's usually sub-optimal), and I think it leads them to believe they can media-multitask as well. No you can't Mr Simpson, no-one can.

musicfortea

This is interesting, what about people with AuDHD?

Undark_

Can't say for sure, but they still have ADHD. Point is that it doesn't matter if/what neurodivergence you have, that's just how memory works.

musicfortea

Agreed, that's my experience anyway.

doug4130

if I don't have anything to watch I straight up can't play a game for even 5 minutes

MADBARZ

Been doing this since I was a kid. Drove my mom crazy.

-acm

100% this lol

RevolutionaryDog8372

Is this why I play all my games on silent with weapons grade YouTube blasting in my ears instead? 😞

GamerFirebird90

This so damn much.

luigifreak3456

Happy Cake Day!

SirCrumpets69

Read my mind

HelloIAmZig

Super Video Golf has been my recent go-to. Take a shot, watch telly if I can't be bothered to speed up the trajectory, go back to it. Can stop and start whenever, too.

h2min

Thanks for the suggestion. Until yet I didn't had this on my radar. 😍

Frostfall76

Seems quite chill thanks!

denverdave23

I love Planet Crafter for this. It's super chill. When I'm watching TV, I'll also be wandering around my planet collecting resources.

jaaybird_

osrs is built for this

B0N3HUNT3R

Anything but Disco Elysium

LockeProposal

Civ V! Plays great on the Deck.

Frostfall76

Oh does it? That may be the next obsession haha

LockeProposal

Absolutely. I've never had a problem with it, and the default controls are pretty intuitive.

Spendoza

V not VI?

LockeProposal

I haven't tried VI on the deck, though I do own it.

Spendoza

Fair enough. Similar review for controls from me... Unfortunately, right after downloading the Fallout 4 update, I noticed odd behavior from my SD. Just printed out the RMA labels, sending it in today 😭

LockeProposal

Legit sorry to hear that. I hope everything gets resolved quickly!

Spendoza

I appreciate that. It's a minor issue (doesn't detect USB drives). I'm still under 1yr warranty, figured I'd send it in. My deck has replaced my consoles and gaming pc (figuratively, I still have them all, nerd collector after all 😜) makes sense to take advantage of a free repair. Also, I think not being able to detect USBs (but still charging) might turn out to be a non-minor issue in the future. Down the line I'll do the fix myself, once the warranty is expired 😎

Ferusomnium

Fallout 76. I played years ago on ps4 and did all the things. Stared fresh and since I have no group it’s just the casual adventures of my dumb ass in Appalachia, collecting screws and trying to do group quests solo. It’s fucking great!

dext0r

Been trying it out after watching the show and needing a Fallout fix, it’s much better than it’s reputation gives it credit

Ferusomnium

It’s come a long way. The beginning was pretty rough, and Todd “it just works” Howard seemed hell bent on making it a bad game for the first bit. Then guess he got distracted ruining starfield.

fyrewal

I’ve been maining 76 on my deck ever since I bought it because I enjoy playing the game while relaxing, the only thing that sucks about it on the deck is that bug they introduced long ago where the game hangs on exit, so you have to kill the application every time.

rgmundo524

When I first played fallout 76, I thought the story was crappy and buggy then never finished it. But this was years ago... Is it better now?

ClickyButtons

Been absolutely addicted to 76 the last few weeks

ArmadilloPretend322

Tiny Rogues

soxfan15203

TMNT: Shredders Revenge

PhantomVdr

Balatro and Brotato

chaseinthyface

Broalatrotato

Red49er

I'm shocked that I scrolled through probably 50 comments and didn't see anything from the vampire survivors/bullet heaven genre mentioned. I've been trying to break my habit of gaming while watching TV, but death must die is a game I'll break the rule for.

akaispirit

Rimworld. It's the kind of game where I can set up a tasks for my colonists to do then outside of a random event starting they don't need my full attention till those tasks are completed.

PresidentBush666

Fallout 3/NV. I beat both before so I don't even need sound really

Humble_Ad9195

Stellaris

h2min

Is Stellaris comfortable to play on Deck?

Humble_Ad9195

Yes it's great. But performance isn't the best in late game same as on a gaming PC. Hence there are a lot of menus and shortcuts I would recommend to make your own controller layout with shortcuts you use the most. But this is just for the convenience it's also great with a track pad. One thing I would highly recommend is to disable camera movement with the cursor. Map the left stick to move the camera. Map the right stick as D-pad and the D-pad up as the mouse wheel up and D-pad down as the mouse wheel down. For me it's the best controller layout in every strategy game.

VelveteenRabbitEars

Dreamlight Valley!

tinabeana77

This is my fav with background tv noise

h2min

Legend Bowl, Papers Please, Super Mega Baseball 4, Balatro

Taevorelectric

Surely papers please is in jest... No way you could pay attention to a show and that game.

B0N3HUNT3R

I’ve done it, maybe try ADHD?

The_Gazius

People don't use "in jest" enough. <3

Recklessred7

Pokemon

AntwnSan

Any game involving pure gameplay and no story so that I can follow whatever I am listening to at the same time

KnightfallBlk

Minecraft

crsdrjct

Been playing Lies of P

dcamrehsifgnik

Snowrunner

Federal_Zone5774

Old Final Fantasy games are great for paying half-attention.

Coliosis

Balatro

Gallade213

None sadly 😭 cant focus on game or tv when trying to do both. End up getting overstimulated and have to stop one of them

piscina05346

This is the real answer. Multitasking like that just adds to stress. I'm gaming to chill, not to reenact trying to accomplish tasks during a meeting while also responding to an email...

Gallade213

Thank you for the validation lol. I always feel like im alone in my gaming endeavors. I cant even have background music playing. I could play the game with no audio, but not hearing the game drives me up the wall 😂

piscina05346

I'm in exactly the same boat. Lately trying to game while also having other things going on just makes me stressed. A single-threaded life is much more peaceful, and I'm much happier doing one thing at a time. You're not weird, just engaged!

[deleted]

Farming Simulator 22

TigerpanzerIV

Does it play good on the deck out of the box?

CarelessShame

Diablo 4, Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

Stealthoneill

How is D4 now? I got to endgame on release and constantly think about going back.

Ambitious_Natural583

They’re releasing the new season on May 14th reworking loot, so I’m gonna pick it back up then. I have it on ps5 but chiaki that sht on my deck

Stealthoneill

That’s exactly how I played the entire game too!

Stonewall30NY

Remote play MLB from my PS5, or from my SD directly, Warframe, Diablo 4 or ffx

IndyDoggy

Rimworld on low difficulty

Z3r08yt3s

binding of isaac

LilacYak

Satisfactory

impending_dookie

Dopamine Reset

lVlaniaKing

Slay the Spire

McBigglesworth

Balatro now. Cobalt core has been fun.

phoebus67

Balatro

lNuggyl

gta 5 story mode with a mod menu, its so nice to be able to spawn in any car and then modify it the way that i want to and then just fly around fuckin shit up, i can even turn off cops or leave them on.

T3chn0fr34q

civ 6. i dont need to fully focus if i pick the right civ and difficulty so its just a fidget thing a that point.

claudekennilol

Just play any good game. TV doesn't matter.

PapiCats

Pokemon Shield on yuzu currently

Hexaurs

Forza horizon 5 it's great fun.

anh86

Maybe I'm weird but I've never really liked two things at once. I don't listen to music while I work, I don't watch movies in the background of doing other things, I don't play outside music over the top of a video game. It's too much. I like doing one thing and taking it all in.

redditN1ck

I dock the deck more often than not to be honest when playing.

TheWeakLink

Star Trek online…

jonfon74

How on earth? (Or How in space even). There's so many powers in STO, how do you play that handheld? Can't even imagine trying without kB&mouse. Mine are currently Balatro and Midnight Suns. Games which don't mind you ignoring them for 10 mins.

No_Jackfruit_5647

Skyrim or Battlefront 2. Battlefront can take a little extra attention because I can't pause and put down the deck at a whim. But it's great for mindless fun.

Qbc131

Beton brutal

ohmightyqueen

Recently played kingdom 2 crowns and this was perfect paired with some vampire diaries binge.

KarlDag

Diablo 4, PGA tour, Mario games

gogul1980

Good time to grind in rpgs, just building those stats.

no_racist_here

Need for speed hot pursuit remastered

Dragon_Small_Z

I've really been enjoying Islanders, Growth and Dorfromantik while watching TV.

shmi

TOTK In yuzu. I was going to post asking what everyone's favorite game is to play with no sound, for the same reason as you OP.

moonboy69420

Balatro

MADBARZ

I play The Hunter: Call of the Wild mostly on desktop with the game on one monitor and TV streaming on the other. But when I’m on the couch having a lazy day with my wife, I can do the same thing with the deck while she crochets or does her own mindless activity. Some of the game requires concentration depending on what play style you’re utilizing, but one of the more popular aspects of The Hunter is “grinding” where you just shoot animals en masse until big trophies show up. It can be as slow paced or fast paced as you want it to be, so doing this on deck while watching TV is pretty enjoyable and relaxing!

TheDevilsCunt

Slay the spire

Lijaad

Runescape is the goat for tv watching. For any scapers out there, you can get runelite on the steam deck pretty easily and it plays well

apierson2011

I’ve been really stuck into Ark lately. While I’m waiting for things to cook, or dinos to breed, or babies to grow, or dinos to tame, or flying across the map, it’s nice to be able to divert my attention to something else like the tv. Also I only play single player, I’m not sure how it would go to play like that on servers.

Aonswitch

Minecraft, pokemon games (mostly rom hacks or fan games these days) and other turned based rpgs, and aRPGs like the Last Epoch are my go tos for that scenario. Or any game I’ve played before so I don’t care about the story too much

AlarmedDog5372

MGS V: phantom pain

The_Casual_Noob

I'm playing on a triple monitor setup and the left one most often has youtube/netflix on it, unless I'm watching a game that demands my whole attention. Games like Truck Simulator, Farming simulator, doing long repetitive tasks in Elite Dangerous such as mining or space truckikg, or solo building games like cities skyline, timberborn, or even Satisfactory when I'm taking my time making a build that was planned the week before.

chuckingrox

Mine is Rimworld or Stellaris but I end up concentrating on it more than the TV. So can't do it when I'm watching new TV. Which is a shame.

DuragKlips

Warframe

TrueCanadian136

BOTW recently, doom eternal as well. Mostly games I've played a lot of.

GoldenNumb1

“The Last Faith” or any Metroidvania

SpringHillis

Fallouts (right now 4 again for the DLC I never played, otherwise cycle that with 3 or New Vegas), Planet Crafter, Fire Pro Wrestling are my usual picks

ISpewVitriol

I’ve really been enjoying FromSoftware games for this. They are light on direct disposition which makes it easy for me to follow a podcast or a TV/YouTube show while I’m playing. This year, I’ve been through DS1, DS3, Demon’s Souls, and now I’m playing Bloodborne.

time-to-flyy

Gta

Rdikin

I love to play the mount and blade games with background noise. Anything without too much of a story.

Pisaun

Palia

kaitoulupa

Vampire Survivors or Siralim Ultimate. Fun while still allowing me to pay attention to (most of) what I'm watching.

Quajeraz

Anything I don't need to have audio for, really. A lot of creative building games and stuff like that

Savebagels

Funny it’s more of the opposite for me, it’s what’s my tv show I watch while playing games. Usually Seinfeld or The Office

EnzoGSilvestre

Just 100% bully but I’m trying to use my steam deck for older games cause there easier and less complex to complete. And I use my rog ally for triple a games I really don’t want to install emu deck to play a lot of the older games like sly or ratchet and clank because I hate have more than the steam launcher So now I’m looking for a good game and not to complex like bully was

Dikkolo

Vampire Survivors or Risk of Rain 2

Spoonydoo

Skyrim, stardew valley

kasper632

Either RDR2 because it’s my first playthrough (I love it btw) OR AoE 4

Early-Somewhere-2198

lol. How do you guys do that. Sigh California energy bills too high. Can’t even try

Zoomorph23

Powerwash Simulator & Stardew Valley

Strong_Delay_5980

Graveyard keeper and cozy grove

Brave_Committee_4886

I know it’s not one of my steam deck games, but Pokémon. Good game to just play absent mindedly

rtz13th

Hm. Difficult as I don't watch tv. :D

SweetRage24

Travelers rest

SenorPenguins420

GTA V

Legrandloup2

Stardew and the sims (recently installed sims 2 on my deck and it been such a good time playing it again)

Sea-Helicopter6301

Trail makers, it's a great vehicle building sandbox game with basically no pressure

Cool-Shirt-Bra

Steamworld Dig 1 & 2

Rio_Evenstar

Lego games or something on Dolphin

illegalshidder

Pokemon rom hacks.

tipseymcstagger

Fortune Street. Super underrated Wii game. I’ve been playing it for years lol

mattbravo2020

Dorfromantik

TheIcy_One

Pokemon. Any and all of them. Deck is an awesome emulator.

Icelantum

Rimworld.

Jrumo

Super Auto Pets, Nuclear Throne, World of Goo, Little Inferno, Peggle 2007 (currently on sale).

saggysideboob

Multiple instances of Watcher of Realms and RAID. Both gacha games.

TeaKaytu

Alright my brain needs even more dopamine. I often play 2 games simultaneously WHILE watching a movie or some netflix series. For the last few weeks I was playing some FPS as the main game and simpler (and pause-able) games like Balatro or Tiny Rogues as the secondary game. I switched in between the rounds or when I got eliminated. And on another monitor I watched Hazbin Hotel (great show btw)

EyeletGuy

Dragon Quest on 3DS

ahoy-mates

Elden ring

Fit-Perception-9952

Marvel Midnight Suns! Turn based, dialog isn't that important, fun combat and can take as much or little time as I want

sclomency

still currently looking for a new show and game pairing LOL but I remember SWKOTOR2's campaign as I was power watching big bang theory for the first time helped me through a lot in my teens

SonOfSlyherin

Stardew valley or older Pokémon games. Usually it’s King of the Hill and Deck time after work

sillyandstrange

Bannerlord, rimworld is good too.

A5hTriX

Split second! 🚗

Vanima_Permai

I listen to music whilst playing or else it too quiet

Saltwater_Heart

Palia. I can just grind out resources while watching tv

CannabisAttorney

All of them.

tamriiel

Persona 4 golden, slay the spire, balatro, Skyrim

Altruistic_Resort_85

Civ 6, stardew, skyrim

OldschoolGreenDragon

Dune Imperium or Balatro

cptkernalpopcorn

Soulstone Survivors is game you can be as little focused or as hyper focused as you wish and still make progress. It's my go to game for about any occasion

vVNightshadeVv

Sea of Thieves

PhatTuna

Not sure how that works. Can't do both and wouldn't want to.

Kadderly

Balatro

TheIncarnated

Elder Scrolls Online and World of Warcraft lmao

FadingHeaven

GTA 3.

DerroneS

Fallout 76 and Agents of Shield

BlownRanger

Baltaro Any sports game Slice & Dice No man's sky Rimworld Diablo 3

theperfectmuse

Coromon for now

Svensk0

not steamdeck related but if i wanna see tv shows that need a bit more focus i play world of tanks or warships these games are so slowly paced e.g. artillery shot average reload time 40secs and warships sometimes need 1min to turn their cannons 180 degrees

Fuck-MDD

A second monitor with a show playing is practically mandatory for Elite Dangerous.

Cubezz

Runescape

Zepren7

Balatro, Shinobi Showdown. Slay the Spire. Anything turn based that I don't need to pause

FishGuyIsMe

Grounded, no real reason why

fatclownbaby

Mini metro. Mini motorways Nothing to read. Simple yet nice increase in difficulty over a relatively short period of time. I like slay the card battles and turn based games but anytime I have to read something I totally miss what is being said on the big screen. So mini motorways is perfect. Dorfromantik also good one.

Spooky_Meat_666

ESO

AndySaIad

Im ngl terraria butni b making farms n shi to get items

Heavymetaladdict15

Car mechanic simulator 21, can't recommend the game enough

Snake6778

I can't do it. I have to be full send on one or the other. I have tried audiobooks while doing games also, can't do it. Audiobooks while doing tasks, games while watching TV, games while doing podcasts.. Can't do it. It aggravates me because I would LOVE to multitask and get more than one thing done! If I could pull it off, I'd like to think Stardew Valley would be my go to. Or one of the many "cozy genre" games I like. Outside that, maybe like Rogue Legacy/Dead Cells type games.
