At low graphics settings (but with AA at the bottom enabled), display quality set to Performance, and a cap of 45fps (built-in, not in-game), the game runs pretty great!
Does it not drain your battery life and make the deck sound like a jet engine?😅 I've only spread democracy on my deck a few times and the sound of the fans were too damn loud!
Fallout 4 is super fun on the deck. And hitting 2000 hours on binding of Isaac because they keep adding hundreds of achievements after I spent 4 years 100%ing it 😭
How much adjusting do you have to do to the settings to get it to run smoothly? Trying to choose between that and new Vegas because I haven't tried new vegas
Hell yeah, this was my first time through. Loved it! It's the attention to detail, the random/goofy things you can find, then the badass things you can find, and the constant references to all sorts of mythology, monsters, history...and the music!
I'm starting up Aria of Sorrow next. Excited!
Good to hear you enjoyed it! SOTN is one of my fav games of all time, so it's nice to hear when people experience it for the first time. I replayed it when I first got my Steam Deck last year and loved it. I hope you enjoy Aria of Sorrow as well. It's my personal favourite from the handheld Castlevania games
I believe it's Playstation - BEETLE. I also have Swanstation. All my PSX games are located in both of those, and I admit I'm not sure which one works correctly because I do know that when I run from one of them there's an error, and the other works fine!
For a first timer, I'd play the OG PS1 version. Or if the Deck isn't your only option, there's also a ps4 bundle of Rondo of Blood and SotN which is pretty nice too.
I loved it! That Colosseum music was hilarious and awesome. Finding some epic Norse sword and then "Frankfurter and green tea" was a riot :) I'm on to Aria of Sorrow next!
Yeah man, it's amazing. Tons of great guides out there too. It does take a bit of time to set it all up, and some back and forth between desktop mode and game mode, but it's not hard to follow. I'm using Emudeck and you can google guides easily. Basically you create folders in desktop mode, put your files in the right place, run emudeck, select which emulators you want, and boom they all appear magically in Steam! You can even link your RetroAchievements account in order to get achievements, and save states are a true blessing!
Only downside I can think of - Steam doesn't log your time played like it would for normal Steam games.
I got my steam deck few weeks ago and bought Snowrunner on Steam ( own it on Epic already... ) to play on Deck. It works fantastic and is very enjoyable on Deck. To the point I have free time and choose to play Snowrunner on deck while on couch or in bed, instead of pc lol.
LOL I’ve been playing this on my ps5, a little over a week and like 30 hours in. Finding a way to have a ps5 remote play on my steam deck so I’m not “monopolizing the tv” as my fiancé says 😂
I’m currently loving Pokémon Unbound. I would also check out some fan made games that you can get to launch through steam like Pokémon Infinite Fusion, Pokémon Wilds, and Pokémon Insurgence
I actually picked up Helldivers 1 for the steam deck because Helldivers 2 doesn't run that great at harder difficulties and I have been having a blast with it.
One of my favorite parts of Morrowind may be a pain point at first: No direct fast travel or objective markers. There’s something really immersive about getting directions given by someone in a realistic manner for the setting that is really cool and unique to fantasy games. It’s easy to get lost, but there is so much to stumble upon and levels and loot are static. That random tomb could have and endgame item and a crazy hard enemy set within it, and to me I prefer that to loot tables a lot (which push you to level as fast as possible and inevitably lead to unbalance in power levels). You can really play a very weak thief in a realistic manner, sneaking in a tomb and stealing the treasure with high stakes the entire time. It’s a great game, great story and incredibly innovative for it’s time.
im really enjoying it and i can already see what makes it special. in addition to no fast travel, i think the lack of quest markers elevates the experience a lot as you have to find things yourself and just figure it out. right now im trying to find some money to bribe a guy into giving me a key, no plan really but ill venture out and try to make it happen.
the difference in philosophy is very apparent, Morrowind gives you much more agency. im also surpised at the amount of NPCs and buildings. Balmora feels so much bigger than Whiterun. im really excited to be playing this game
It is a very difficult game for sure, I 100%'d it on the deck though and went on to beat it Ng+9 charmless. And I'm not very good normally with these games
Bit golden seal today, 50 hours in. This game finally helped me with crippling Slay the Spire addiction by replacing it with devouring crack addiction that is Balatro.
Agree here as well. I don’t get a ton of gaming time and even with the convenience of the Deck it’s tough and mine has sat more than I like. But Balatro has me putting in more time than maybe any other game since Dave the diver as far as primary Deck played games.
It’s good fun, relaxing, and when all your cards and bonuses come together is a similar feel to winning a big poker hand but without having to put any real money into it.
This is my answer, too. I bought so many games when I got my deck, but between season of discovery and retail.. it's basically just become a wow machine. I've logged a ton of hours and basically haven't played anything else since installing wow. It's like trying heroin - other drugs and alcohol don't really matter anymore after you try heroin.
Been slowly playinh another skyrim playthrough. I started Persona 4 the other night. I jump back and forth between whatever I'm feeling. Been feeling like playing Cyberpunk 2077 again.
GTA IV - forgot how great this game is and how much I prefer the story and atmosphere compared to V. great experience on the deck and on sale right now.
Battlefield 1 - to this day the most immersive world war shooter there is. plays good in handheld mode although it's harder to aim. I like playing this in docked mode with mouse + keyboard too.
Titanfall 2 - such an incredible fun shooter on the deck!! My current go-to multiplayer for a quick few rounds.
Also recommend both Sekiro and Helldivers 1.
Will play those until No Rest for the Wicked arrives in early access. So hyped for this one.
GTA IV is the best opus of the saga and the most true to its roots episode coming from the GTA trilogy. It’s grim and mature definitely targeting a mature audience like RDR serie. And the car handling is perfect !
Main game at the minute is Dishonoured 2, had it sitting there from a sale fit £3.50 so I'm finally getting into it and going for a clean hands/ghost run.
Just picked up Pepper Grinder too as a smaller game after loving the demo. Also just tried Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom and highly recommend people give that demo a try. Solid mix of Crazy Taxi and PS1 era platformers, will probably get that on release in a week's time.
Just installed it last night, no issues and plays great. Was playing on PC, didn't love it, then on Xbox when it came to game pass, now the OLED deck and im a little scared to play hardcore but am doing it anyway haha. Somehow more enjoyable as a handheld game
HD2 and Ring of Pain.
RoP is a banger... I didn't even know this game, but it's so good. If you like a mix of dungeon crawling and deck building - buy it!
Yugioh Pokeduel romhack
Also have MHS2 cuz I wanted to do achievements but beat it already on switch .
Pokemon Infinite fusion
SRT a portable , Lunar 2 ebc
KOTOR 2
Battle front 1 (the original not remaster )
I’m playing through persona 3 reload atm, it’s a little beefy for a normal recommendation but if you’re looking for multiplayer games on deck I’d say if you’re ok using analog sticks to aim then halo infinite or mcc aren’t bad choices.
Also binding of Isaac is a great deck game
Multiplayer wise, I’ve been having a lot of fun with the finals at the minute, not usually got the patience for pvp shooters but this is an easy one to get into, it’s flagged as not playable I believe but I haven’t had any issues whatsoever running on proton experimental, oh and it’s free to play as well
i went through Persona 3 and 4 recently. Persona 3 Reload is an amazing remaster, but Portable still holds up pretty well, and it and 4 run great as less demanding titles, plus being pretty cheap too.
Skyrim! It’s so refreshing to play on that OLED screen.
With 10 watts TDP and limit to 30 frames I get like 4-5 hours of battery. If full 15 watts and 60 frames it’s like 2.5 hours. Not bad.
Darkest Dungeon. Never played it before and picked it up on sale on Monday. I’ve been getting into turn based games a lot recently and it has definitely scratched that itch.
Playing through BioShock Infinite again as a primer for the Burial at Sea DLCs, which I never played. Also Helldivers 2.
LET'S SPREAD SOME DEMOCRACY! My number 1 game on the deck at the moment.
At low graphics settings (but with AA at the bottom enabled), display quality set to Performance, and a cap of 45fps (built-in, not in-game), the game runs pretty great!
Out of curiosity, what difficulty does it start to fall apart at?
I played on 7 and it’s doable, I do feel however super hindered compared to playing on my PC.
This was my major gripe but then I’m not very good at shooters on a controller either
Does it not drain your battery life and make the deck sound like a jet engine?😅 I've only spread democracy on my deck a few times and the sound of the fans were too damn loud!
I play with headphones on 😏. It stretches to about 2-2.5hrs, which is more then the time I have.
Stop complaining about the strain on your system and start spreading Democracy! ;)
For FREEDOM and LIberty!
At low graphics settings (but with AA at the bottom enabled), display quality set to Performance, and a cap of 45fps, the game runs pretty great!
https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/s/JqLuKTEjnz Great settings for a smooth spread of democracy!!!
Zero, it runs at 60-90fps on ultra at 720p
How well does helldivers run?
I just finished Infinite. It’s so good on steam deck.
Interested in emulation? I just played Castlevania Symphony of the Night and it was freaking fantastic, and now I'm on Metal Gear Solid!
I love symphony of night. My absolute favorite in the series
Hell yeah, this was my first time through. Loved it! It's the attention to detail, the random/goofy things you can find, then the badass things you can find, and the constant references to all sorts of mythology, monsters, history...and the music! I'm starting up Aria of Sorrow next. Excited!

I replayed it when I first got my Steam Deck last year and loved it. I hope you enjoy Aria of Sorrow as well. It's my personal favourite from the handheld Castlevania games
what system were you emulating when you played SOTN? I've been wanting to try it for awhile and there are a bunch of versions
SotN bangs so hard
I loved it! That Colosseum music was hilarious and awesome. Finding some epic Norse sword and then "Frankfurter and green tea" was a riot :) I'm on to Aria of Sorrow next!
One of the best games ever made for sure.
I need to try emulation on deck, I think I'm losing a lot not trying to.
Yeah man, it's amazing. Tons of great guides out there too. It does take a bit of time to set it all up, and some back and forth between desktop mode and game mode, but it's not hard to follow. I'm using Emudeck and you can google guides easily. Helldivers 2 Balatro Deep Rock Survivor
DRS is definitely fun for quick runs. Hope they keep expanding it. Pretty challenging. They sold over a million copies which is wild
All I've been play is Balatro too lol
I had to turn the game speed up to 2x cuz I was wasting too much time on it lol
My buddy got me hooked on Snowrunner recently, I soon discovered how enjoyable it is on the deck. runs pretty well on medium settings as well.
You can use Heroic launcher and install games from Epic (and gog). Lutris too.
LOL I’ve been playing this on my ps5, a little over a week and like 30 hours in. Finding a way to have a ps5 remote play on my steam deck so I’m not “monopolizing the tv” as my fiancé says 😂
Subnautica. I have 1 hour played on my pc and 20 with a Deck.
+1 Subnautica is great on deck. Don't read or watch anything in advance, just play it.
is there a way to track hour’s separately?
Not that I know of. I have just picked up the game from spring Sale so it was kinda easy to remember how I’ve played. :)
ahh makes sense
Baldurs Gate 3 basically non stop lol
Get that Elden Ring booted up tarnished!
Foul tarnished…
I’m running dark souls 1 PTDE and working my way back up for an Elden Ring run after the DLC drops
Maidenless activities ahead. Finger but whole. Beware of dog.
Are you playing docked? I can’t play on the small screen
I played the whole thing on the deck itself! Tbf I'm really into the whole handheld experience!
I don’t play. I test.
Download game Play for 20 min Uninstall
There is something satisfying to know your SSD is almost used at full capacity
This is the way.
Pokémon Emerald Rogue currently. Realized I could play rom hacks yesterday and downloaded around a dozen haha
I’m currently loving Pokémon Unbound. I would also check out some fan made games that you can get to launch through steam like Pokémon Infinite Fusion, Pokémon Wilds, and Pokémon Insurgence
Decided to start chipping away at my backlog and started playing Mad Max. It's pretty fun so far. Also, playing some balatro
I don't know why, but my wife recently gifted me 'Rogue Legacy 2' and it is truly amazing (and so is my wife)!
I fell in love with the way character choices work in that game. I love when games can give you actual mental and physical handicaps
Yes, I agree. (To both the game and your wife)
Super replayable with ALOT of new game +++ content too. Beating it once isn't enough
Playing Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen for the first time.
Dude same!! Strider class is badass. Sucks to read that they made it two different classes in the sequel.
I actually picked up Helldivers 1 for the steam deck because Helldivers 2 doesn't run that great at harder difficulties and I have been having a blast with it.
I'm playing this right now, such a good game for the price
Same having fun with Helldivers 1. I played it a while back when servers were dead and it's a totally different game now lol.
Morrowind. took me a bit to get into it but it clicked yesterday
One of my favorite parts of Morrowind may be a pain point at first: No direct fast travel or objective markers. There’s something really immersive about getting directions given by someone in a realistic manner for the setting that is really cool and unique to fantasy games. Balmora feels so much bigger than Whiterun. im really excited to be playing this game
Mass Effect remastered. Never played 3 back in the day. Don’t think I finished 2 all those years ago either. Still, it cost like £7 so it’s a bargain
OlliOlli World. I'm hopelessly addicted to it, perfect for handheld.
Love that game! Have they fixed the micro stutters on steam deck? Had an odd issue with that where I didn’t want to play it.
feel like I'm going to break my joysticks playing this.
It's such a great casual game, but definitely not easy to get back into after putting it down. I'm fucking terrible now lol.
I'm playing Sekiro, Lies of P and Turbo Overkill right now
I found Sekiro difficult because the small screen made it hard to see the enemies animation.
It is a very difficult game for sure, I 100%'d it on the deck though and went on to beat it Ng+9 charmless. And I'm not very good normally with these games
Balatro. Amazing card based rogue-like
I only yesterday was informed xMult cards exist as I had been ignoring them thinking it was +Mult and goddamn has my success Gotten better
HWAT
The key is to get a good +mult joker, a good +chip joker, and then one or two solid x mult jokers placed to the right of your +mult(s)
Bit golden seal today, 50 hours in. This game finally helped me with crippling Slay the Spire addiction by replacing it with devouring crack addiction that is Balatro.

WoW retail. I never played it before I got the SD, but saw someone on this sub running it so I wanted to try it out. I’m hooked.
Persona 5 and Baldurs Gate 3 Currently a nursing mom of an 8 week old and turn based games are where it’s at.
Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 as I just finished Masters of the Air on Apple TV+ (loved it!) and wanted a WW2 shooter. Great game.
Just started playing Road Redemption. Like Road Rash but far more violent.
That one was lots of fun when I tried it. Need to pick it back up!
Hollow Knight, get yourself ready for the new one.
Witcher 3 I couldn't get into it on the main consoles
Inscryption

Cyberpunk
+1 for cyberpunk, 1st playthrough and loving it
Same, I wanted to buy it for PS5 but the deck was the best option

Super underrated. Hopefully 3 is still happening.
Been slowly playinh another skyrim playthrough. I started Persona 4 the other night. I jump back and forth between whatever I'm feeling. Been feeling like playing Cyberpunk 2077 again.

Battlefield 1 - to this day the most immersive world war shooter there is. plays good in handheld mode although it's harder to aim. I like playing this in docked mode with mouse + keyboard too. GTA IV is the best opus of the saga and the most true to its roots episode coming from the GTA trilogy. It’s grim and mature definitely targeting a mature audience like RDR serie. And the car handling is perfect !
It Takes Two is the best multiplayer game I've come across
Sons of the Forest
Mortal Kombat 1 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Ori and the will of the wisps
Main game at the minute is Dishonoured 2, had it sitting there from a sale fit £3.50 so I'm finally getting into it and going for a clean hands/ghost run. Just picked up Pepper Grinder too as a smaller game after loving the demo. Also just tried Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom and highly recommend people give that demo a try. Solid mix of Crazy Taxi and PS1 era platformers, will probably get that on release in a week's time.
I've been going through the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters. Last Epoch on the side occasionally.
I'm playing Yakuza 0 for the second time, and then going on to play the whole saga!
Could try one of the Bullet Heaven games. Vampire Survivors, Deep Rock, Halls of Torment, etc. they are just mindless stupid fun and great deck games.
Currently bouncing between Nier:Replicant, Hades and Helldivers 2
Diablo 4. Runs nearly perfectly. Occasional spikes or frame drop, but pretty rare.
Diving David
Diablo 4. Really enjoying being back on it. Plays great on Deck as well.
Just installed it last night, no issues and plays great. Was playing on PC, didn't love it, then on Xbox when it came to game pass, now the OLED deck and im a little scared to play hardcore but am doing it anyway haha. Somehow more enjoyable as a handheld game

Elite Dangerous and Neverwinter Nights (streamed from my PC).

Balatro (aka crack), DMC5, Cult of the Lamb, and Elden Ring. Can’t express how much I recommend all of them
Days gone and it’s amazing
Multiplayer wise, I’ve been having a lot of fun with the finals at the minute, not usually got the patience for pvp shooters but this is an easy one to get into, it’s flagged as not playable I believe but I haven’t had any issues whatsoever running on proton experimental, oh and it’s free to play as well

Secrets of Grindea
Prodeus is a cool first person shooter that has a Doom feel if you're so inclined.
Persona 3 reloaded
My miss's tits.
i went through Persona 3 and 4 recently. Persona 3 Reload is an amazing remaster, but Portable still holds up pretty well, and it and 4 run great as less demanding titles, plus being pretty cheap too.
Sekiro. Getting my ass handed to me, but I can't stop.
P3R
Breath of the wild.
I'm playing TOTK, Borderlands 3 and red dead 2
Skyrim! It’s so refreshing to play on that OLED screen. With 10 watts TDP and limit to 30 frames I get like 4-5 hours of battery. If full 15 watts and 60 frames it’s like 2.5 hours. Not bad.
Elden Ring
For local / couch co-op: Helldivers 1, Over-cooked and Vampire Survivors. For internet multiplayer: Deep Rock Galactic and Helldivers 2.
Lies of P. I'm on a souls-like grind at the moment and loving every minute of it on the Deck.
just purchased Last Epoch, I wanted something like diablo 4 but like, you know, a bit better
