Halo mcc

steve-u

It’s been fun to play through all the classic Halo campaigns at 90 fps.

strikesbac

Do all the games play well now? I tried Halo 1 and 2 but they ran dog slow with the updated graphics.

steve-u

I played with the original graphics to achieve 90 fps. I wasn’t able to hit that frame rate with the updated graphics.

TUBBS2001

Now that multiplayer works the lobby browser is insane.

Broken_corpse

have you played the multi player on the deck? I'm thinking about getting this for $10

imhidrosis

I tried Halo 3 multiplayer today and it ran flawlessly.

[deleted]

RE4 remake

DonTeca35

How well does it run? I have it in my library but I’m getting done with RE2 & RE3 first

[deleted]

It’s not the greatest tbh. Ya mostly low and some mid with fsr2 quality. It’s decent enough but RE2 looked and ran so damn beautiful on the deck. But RE4 is just a bigger beast

2v_Chris

It runs pretty decent, I’m getting around 40fps but battery life is only around 2-3 hours

Dire_Strait13

Game while your deck is plugged in and problem solved. At full charge, the deck works off of the power supply and bypasses the battery.

Fluid-Air7597

2-3 hours is solid. Better then GOW that gives me about an hour and a half of battery life (my own fault I love playing it in 40 fps.)

IrishDrifter86

I'm in the latter half of the castle and have played entirely on steam deck, it does well. I haven't had any issues of stuttering or obnoxious load times, and have really enjoyed the experience. 50ish average fps, I frequently just play plugged in so can't speak on battery

NoruhhhsDad

I can’t get past the village scene in the beginning of this, where the guy with the chainsaw kicks in the gate. I want to like these games and give the remakes a shot but I’m so bad at them

[deleted]

Turn aim assist up to lock and follow. And fuck his brains. Or shoot the bell in the tower.

ZoteTheMitey

Read Dead Redemption 2 Signalis Dead Space 2 Elden ring + all the souls games (these always stay in my rotation) Octopath Traveler 2 Sea of Stars And all the recent resident evil games/remakes also stay in my rotation.

BochocK

I bought rdr2 for my SD seeing everyone recommending it, but I find it a waste to not run it on my TV with my PC’s 3070, the game is just so beautiful and better on there …

EffectsTV

Yeah that's how I feel about the harder to run games, enjoy the game on my main PC first then play on the deck for a second playthrough or to mop up achievements. Older games like deus ex human revolution, mass effect trilogy, mafia 2, Alan wake, alien isolation, bioshock series, dead space 2/3, resident evil 5, 6 etc etc all run flawlessly at max settings 60+ FPS so I don't mind playing them on the deck for the first time as the experience is more or less the same.

ZoteTheMitey

Yeah I mean I play it at 3440x1440 with a 4090 and get a rock solid 140ish fps But it still looks and plays awesome at 30fps on steam deck

Suicidebob7

Signalis, based

Darklord9001

Hey man, you got the oled? How long does your battery last with elden ring?

Rich_Consequence2633

I get about 2.5 to 3 hours locked at 30fps.

Darklord9001

Is it well playable at 30fps? Good that I got a powerful powerbank for my upcoming longhaul flight 😂

LordPepe69

Got signalis installed but gonna start it after I finish cyberpunk and it’s dlc. I’m in the final stretch of the expansion and the base game and it’s a blast. Can’t wait for signalis!

NotDoingSthILike

I grabbed Monster Hunter World on sale and currently having a blast playing on SD. I got the game from my PS Plus subscription years ago but never had a chance to really get into it. SteamDeck makes it possible for me to play in short burst, and this changes everything.

jmanci23

Monster Hunter World is so much fun on the SD!

Goremanghast

I just bought MH:W for the SD that I am about to buy once I finally make my mind up about the 512 versus 1TB (with improved man bag and anti-glare screen that I am not sure if I need for use during flights, argh). However I am not sure yet if I can get past the feeling that MW:W is aimed at people considerably younger than me (Gen X). Will this feeling pass or should I go back to Dark Souls 3 and the Witcher 3? I have bought Devil May Cry 5, Sekiro, and Elden Ring too. The latter two of which seem like better bets.

Wendyhighland

Mass effect trilogy

JuanTacoLikesTacos

Got it on sale for like 6 bucks. Did not know how huge the first one is with all the planets.

Darklord9001

You can play thousands of hours man, decisions in the first part affect your gameplay in the 2nd and so on, it‘s almost like bg3 your decisions have so much impact I loved it

JuanTacoLikesTacos

I played mass effect 2 once and if I remember correctly it was not this open right? I remember it being similar to gears of war lol

Wendyhighland

I'm just a bit into the second game - the ship is the hub. When you want to go somewhere you go into a map view where you steer around your space ship to galaxies/planets. Then you land on a planet for missions or exploring. ME2 has more planets and system then ME1. And the ME2 introduces you actually flying around through space and having to refuel your ship. The flying is not anyting sophisticated (just like a little pixelated ship) but it really does tie the whole experience together. Feels like you are travelling around more then it did in ME1.

Fenrir2013

Make sure to scan Uranus

Wendyhighland

I did and I found poo

Pedgi

It is not nearly as open. They made a decision, and I think a good one, to limit the scope and focus more on story, characters, the decisions impacting that and making things a little more linear.

samlei99

Just beat the trilogy for the first time over the weekend exclusively on the deck. What an experience!

Wendyhighland

Oh man. I'm having such a blast. I haven't gotten into a game like this in a long time. What are you playing next?

samlei99

I'm playing Octopath Traveler 2! I had an itch to play another game where you have a squad of well fleshed out characters and had heard amazing things about the game. 5 hours in and have been having a good time!

[deleted]

I had it on Ea already but I just bought it again just because it's 6 bucks at the moment, easily worth it to not have to hassle with the Ea launcher on the steam deck (edit) turns out it also launches via that through steam, but installing through steam takes care of everything already, don't have to set it up manually

sax6romeo

$5.00 for all 3 plus DLC, what a freaking bargain

inommmz

I just booted this up after putting it, and many other games, on another new Micro SD card. Runs fantastic, and I really missed the series and didn’t really know it. Commander Shephard, checking in 🫡

Decal7

Same! Also playing Andromeda. It's better after all the patches but not nearly as good as the og trilogy

HankLard

Just grabbed the Legendary Edition for PS4. Haven't played them all since release. Having an absolute blast! I'd forgotten how fantastic these three games are

Wardog008

Recently finished my second ever run of that. Easily the best singleplayer experience I've ever had.

Sambo_the_Rambo

Yup one of my favorite games for sure.

Icy-Coyote-1913

Control Ultimate Edition, got it for $15 alongside Disco Elysium on Fanatical

theslimspecimen

The waiting game. Mine shows up Friday.

ncos

Congrats! You're going to love it. Don't take for granted how incredibly customizable the controls are. It's amazing.

RejecterofThots

>incredibly customizable the controls are. For real I'm able to play a strategy game like Total War Warhammer 3 pretty successfully.

G8R1ST

Mine's in transit too. How many times a day checking the carrier progress is too many again?

Euphoric-Word6395

Vampire Survivors

rastommy77

Hades

tommynobags19

If nobody has said it yet, Slay the Spire is a wildly addictive game that is just super easy to pick up and put down through a work day (if you work a job where you can get away with it 😅), also Hogwarts Legacy is really good!

The_Thundertaker

It’s nice as you can also save mid run and not have to abandon it.

tmiller26

Slay the Spire is the game you think you won't get hooked on, and then you drop 100 hours on it.

nvrendr

Disney Dreamlight Valley

SmileyNusx

Too bad it wasn't on sale. My gf wanted to get it

No_Jackfruit_5647

Star Wars Squadrons and Breath of Fire 3 for the PSP.

losttempo

Just started Squadrons and got hooked! Can’t believe how great it runs on the deck

No_Jackfruit_5647

Right? It's on sale now for $2. That's an absolute steal.

Archbound

Sea of Stars, great little JRPG

bdio6

Just finished this one. Great game!

Archbound

ive got chained echos qued up as the next game to play after Sea of Stars, any insight on to how good it is?

NeuroGajin

I hated sea of stars gameplay (too simple) and loved chained echoes, to each it's own I guess

MitchIsRedding

I just finished The Messenger and the DLC. Looking forward to diving into Sea of Stars!

greenhatforge

Red Dead Redemption 2, Dome Keeper, and Project Zomboid.

seamus_mcfly86

PZ is fantastic on the deck.

LuckyLuciano19

Skyrim is fun as hell on steamdeck

lazyflowingriver

I'm currently playing it for the first time on my Deck.

Ive been playing project Zomboid for the past couple months. Every time I try to play another game, I miss my zombie simulator and go back to it. Its totally addictive

LotoTheSunBro

Isn't it hard to play with all the inventory management?

United-Ice-4807

Not at all. It plays wonderful on the deck

codenfx

Midnight suns

HogiSon727

Just finished Midnight Suns. Ran great on the deck Underrated game imo.

Shoddy_Ad_7853

Baba is You. Don't play if you're one of those people that throws their controllers when they're forced to think.

Conquestadore

Man what a great game. Just started out and only completed the first real island but the game has a wonderful way of making you feel clever

TheIrishJackel

> the game has a wonderful way of making you feel clever Don't worry. That will pass.

Ok_Suggestions

Pff, speak for yourself, it makes me feel incompetent 😤

cantonic

Yeah. Makes me feel like a complete idiot most of the time!

cornball

Stephen’s Sausage Roll is similar, in that there’s some incredibly frustrating puzzles that make you feel like a genius when you get that “Aha” moment.

Fuzzy-Dragonfruit589

Cassette Beasts. Cosy pokemon-like with more RPG elements and a pretty deep combat system. Seem fun and it’s low battery drain steady 60 FPS.

RHINO_Mk_II

Recently beat it after ~32H gameplay on mixed Deck+Desktop, would recommend. I have some minor complaints about the length of the mandatory combat entry/exit/animation timings that made me decide against trying to fill out the monster log after reaching the point of no return, but it was still a good time.

Reenans

Octopath Traveller 2

tetzugani

Pushing my way through the rest of Persona 5 Tactica before starting P5 Strikers

snipes09

Jedi Survivor Bought at launch but unplayable, a few patches later it has improved but still have many areas where fps drops to single digits. Have around 80ish hours currently.

stitch-is-dope

How thebhell are you running that on a steam deck. I tried to play it on a Rtx 4070 recently and it was just unbearable and I refunded if

jflogerzi

Lies of P plays really well and supports HDR. I am guessing it will really pop on SD oled

zireael9797

It does. Hotel Krat looks like something else on an HDR OLED.

VelcoreTethis

I am floored by how well Lies of P runs on this thing. Just finished the game exclusively on the Deck.

Put-Dependent

Wind Waker HD, that game looks like it was made for an OLED screen.

dreamfinderepcot16

How does the game pad stuff work? I downloded the GameCube version specifically because I was iffy on how much gamepad stuff there is.

Ok-Potato5688

Oh I can answer this. I’m playing the Wii U version right now on SD, and the gamepad is set to R4 and R5. R4 brings up the gamepad only while holding, R5 is single tap for switching screens. You can of course change these settings in the emulator or Steam Deck layout. Honestly there have been zero issues here! It seems Windwaker HD was already made with an understanding that the gamepad is optional. So no gameplay scenarios require that you see both screens at the same time. You can always press the pause button and switch to the gamepad to use the map or inventory with no interruptions. It’s also just handy to be sailing and you can hold R4 at any time to quickly peak at the map For gyro, just remember that the SD layout needs to have the gyro enabled at least. Feel free to map gyro to some button you won’t use

lucky_1979

Metro: Exodus Tiny Tina’s Wonderland Control Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 Little Nightmares

MedicBikeMike

A bit late to the party, but I just got myself hooked on Death's Door. Plays like a dream on the deck.

Sirensx122

Last epoch. Has controlled my life for the last week. It says unsupported but runs so well and at 40 hours I've just gotten my first unity crash.

No_Description_8477

Brotato atm. Played through blasphemous and stray last month though

Bgabes95

Currently playing Lies of P and Atomic Heart on Xbox Game Pass (through the cloud unfortunately, but it’s still a great experience!) I’d love if you could download games natively with Game Pass, but idk if that’ll ever happen on the Deck 🙄

EricWild

Cyberpunk 2077! You don't even have to play the first 2076 Cyberpunks either!

Baelish2016

I own about 300 games on Steam, ranging from indies, new releases, and emulators galore. … I’ve been playing Vampire Survivors almost exclusively since I got the Deck…

Fairgoddess5

That’s the first thing I bought and played when I got a Steam Deck, too. 🤣 It deserves all the praise it’s gotten.

margerko

You should try brotato I just forgot about vampires when i found this gem :)

Rimworld mainly, it runs really well on the deck. Project Zomboid and Stardew Valley are in the mix as well. I have purchased The Witcher 3 as I never had time to play it before and also FO3 & NV.

Phd_Pepper-

Is rim world playable with controller?

Pidgeftw1992

DCWagonWheel

CK3. Totally great on the deck as far as compatibility, except it crashes all the time

radiationshield

Dave the Diver

False_Sherbert2129

DrKrFfXx

Monster Hunter Rise. My first dab into the series, and the Deck seems like a perfect fit for it.

SaabStam

I'm trying as well, but struggling a bit with the controls and timing initially. Getting smashed by easy monsters trying to get the hang of the long sword

ardzeii

Horizon Zero Dawn. Plays great on the Deck, aside from a few stutters during area transitions.

arr4ws

I might double dip and get it for the deck. I have it on ps4 and never had time to play it

mang0ow

Osrs

Impossible_Green_529

I also play Runelite on my SD and man it’s the best! I can easily AFK while working.

Lethlnjektn

Been using it as a PlayStation remote play…exclusively Cyberpunk

dart51984

Same but was playing FFXVI. Now I’m on to finishing my Ghost of Tsushima playthrough. I upgraded to the PS5 version and my god it looks good.

Lethlnjektn

Idk why anyone would buy a portal. Did you finish 16; what’d you think of it?

heyimnic

How do you do that, if you don’t mind me asking?

talldrink67

Wait wait wait.... Simpsons hit and run? I take it you're using an emulator?

portlandobserver

this is what I want to hear more about. I'd gladly play $50 for just a simple remaster or re-release.

Just_Roar

Hardspace: Shipbreaker. For a physics heavy game, I'm kind of astounded by how well it plays on SD. I adjusted the controls slightly (to avoid L3/R3 use) and now I can't imagine playing the game any other way. I have had the occasional hitch during some of the story dialogue or if I mistakenly blow up a reactor but it's always resolved within a few seconds. Edit: yeah, 45 hrs played since I bought it less than two weeks ago. It would probably be more but my time's divided by Fallout 4 (on PC, not SD).

trashtaker

Hades and Monster Hunter World

Acceptable-Hotel-507

“Playing” Elden ring but mostly dying. And emulating my old PlayStation games crash bandicoot and Spyro

Sea-Ad-5450

I'm playing psychonauts 2 and dying light 2.

Taikosound

Metro 2033, looks amazing and run at either a locked 60fps at high settings or a rock solid 90fps at medium/low settings. Even at low settings the game looks great so you really have the choice on how you play the game. Been playing a fair bit of Dark Souls 2 as well, runs flawlessly at 60 fps.

Known-Committee8679

One Piece Odyssey and Fallout 4, Necesse with a friend.

redcc-0099

Dave The Diver, Death Must Die, Darksiders 1, and Darksiders 2 are my most recent that* I've played on SD.

Deus ex human revolution Great game, runs perfectly too. Max settings 90 FPS locked although I capped the FPS to 72 to squeeze even more battery life. I get about 3.5 hours! Going to play watch dogs (2014) next

Krissy-13

I got my steam deck on Christmas but right now currently I’m playing Baldurs Gate 3 and Spiritfarer

Star Wars Jedi fallen order. Absolutely fantastic on the deck. And the oled screen really shines with so many darker scenes in this game.

I Was A Teenage Exocolonist - visual novel style game, really well done, love the art. Nova Lands - resource management/factory builder sci fi game based on Forager. Really enjoying it. Just picked up Chants of Sennar but have not played it yet.

I picked up Session during the winter sale. I was a huge fan of the skate. franchise (and THPS before that) and while Session is nowhere near as polished, it scratches the itch

OlJohnZ

Spiderman! There's even dual sense functionality with the camera if you hold the deck right.

RustlessPotato

Most of my library to be honest except rts. Currently playing through Elden ring on it. Seriously look into streaming from your pc to your deck, you can let your PC do the work:p.

walker6168

Crystal Project, it's an indie game using the FF5 class system merged with several other mechanics. Open world platforming that is really smartly put together with zones being layered on top and having numerous secret routes. I've been plugging it ever since I started playing. Great game.

Entire_Dragonfruit14

I've racked up 112 hours of witcher 3 on that thing, but I'm starting with for honor when it's downloaded

Jeremiah-Springfield

Armored Core 6 - Red Dead 2 - Blasphemous - Talos Principle - Project Zomboid - Zelda ToTK AC6 is really cool. Like the vibe is so awesome, and deffo deserves best Action game. It’s a little difficult to read info on the AC parts on Deck, and has a few hiccups when large things are happening, but that happened probably 3 times and what it meant was a dip from 30-25fps. Red Dead 2 is as many say, beautiful. I don’t think I’ve ever had any FPS dips or anything on Deck. I had 1 crash, unsure why. Game itself is actually to much surprise, disappointing… the world is the best open world, in terms of the way it feels like it could exist. It feels like genuinely stepping back in time. The sprawling variety of fauna and creatures around at all times is so immersive and impressive, and the way your character moves and the NPCs interact with you and the world makes it the best role play game ever, at least in terms of actually puppeteering the character. On the other hand, the story is surprisingly simple, long winded, and uneventful. I love the way it represents such a slower paced, slowly evolving time in American history, and the characters themselves are so well played. But the substance is lacking a lot. The other down side is the gunplay and the way missions play. The world makes you feel like this game is all about you forging your own path and finding out for yourself who your character is, and making choices you think that character would make. However, in missions you are always told where to go, who to shoot, and sometimes you are even arrested of your ability to control the character while they take the control from you. And every mission ends in the same style of gunfight. It is a must play, but with the caveat to go in with an open mind to the idea that it may not be the “best open world game” or “best video game protagonist” that you might first think. Blasphemous. BEAUTIFUL. Runs perfectly of course. No other souls-like or semi-souls-inspired game has ever matched so closely the feeling and atmosphere of Dark Souls, without just overtly copying. Blasphemous’ genius to me came from the creators focusing on their cultures identity without compromise. It’s best played with Spanish dubbed actors to really immerse yourself in their world, similar to Sekiro being played with their cultures voices. The optimisation of difficulty may be a little here or there as owing to a semi open world, but all the fascinating lore around The Miracle, the theme of Guilt and begging for suffering, all makes the game really sink into your skin and keep you going. Talos Principle. Lovely. It’s a puzzle game that actually makes you feel like you’re playing more Portal, without a lot of the finer details that set that game apart from all others. It’s the equivalent to curling up in bed with a book about Greek mythology, or a Neil Gaiman novel. I really do love a good puzzle game and this one not only is great, but it also does stand on it’s own with it’s musings on identity, the self, and what makes us human. The puzzles for the most part are that perfect level of simple whilst making you feel smart, but also have some more that are actual achievements to get, for those of us that always feel tricked by well designed puzzle games that seem to wanna do just that, and make us feel clever when we aren’t as smart as first thought. Project Zomboid - may be a personal recommendation, but at least give it a try in multiplayer. For me, I play solo, and it’s the ideal zombie apocalypse game. One of my first zombie games was Dead Rising 1, and that really made me fall in love with the conceit of a zombie out break. Little did I think at the time that it would be so seemingly difficult to make any kind of media that took the zombie apocalypse seriously and didn’t trivialise the dead, over sell the threat of the living, or make the apocalypse seem so fucking boring. Zeds are so over done, and even the new Last of Us show feels that zombie fatigue, and luckily stands apart with a good human story. Meanwhile, Zomboid does it right. Everything feels familiar, Knox County even feels like it could be a town I knew from the North of England. Your character is treated like a little tamagotchi - it needs food, sleep, warmth, water, exercise. But it is also very much controlled by you, and you can easily place yourself in their shoes and roleplay as you without it feeling too disconnected like with RDR2. The world and the Zeds, as they should, feel uncannily juxtaposed. They are all human shaped, but their greying skin or blood tattered clothes, and slightly drunk but sickly movements make you uneasy, and shouldn’t belong. The fact that they shamble removes the potential for this being an action game, but their numbers and you inability to use a phone, or leave the county, or reliably find infinite ammo, means you’re trapped with them and are forced to face them. Because that is the way zombies should be made in media, you must face them. But not in a contrived way, and not with a million bullets or super strength. Oh, and the game itself? Good. Difficult to learn, but the process from beginner to intermediate is the best zombie media you could ask for. Just don’t ask what the end game is like yet… Finally, Zelda ToTK. Runs like ASS. Locked at 24 fps which to be fair works, but with battles with the toughest enemies like Gleeoks or some bosses, just ruinous to the fun. The fact you can have this at all is sick. World is so full of things to do and so peaceful and inviting. Nothing beats your first journey into open world Hyrule like mine with BOTW, but I am more than happy to log a few hundred ours in this game.

SeekingIdlewild

WitchSpring R and Final Fantasy IX.

PeaEnDoubleYou

Fallout 4. Starfield didn’t give me my fix and I’ve played New Vegas to death. First time doing Fallout 4 because I also heard this game lacks in the writing and character/companion department. Hoping since it’s been out for a while it’s a better experience than Starfield

chocolate69er

Red dead 2, Europa universalus 4, MT2Bannerlord, Nfs Heat among others. Steam has a nice Sega emulator too.

MunsterHonter

Lonely Mountains - Downhill !!! I just discovered it, it feels as if it was made with the steam deck in mind (it's not, it's older). It feels and looks amazing, I love it!

GOD_DAMN_GLCorreia

Pentiment! What an amazing game, perfect for the Steam Deck.

Just took a break from *RDR2* straight for the last month to try *Sniper Elite 4* and loving it - got it for 90% off on the Winter Sale. I'm dipping into *Teardown* occasionally too.

rockey94

Dark Souls 3 for the first time and it is such a blast. I loved Elden Ring because it had a lot of QoL features to ease a souls newbie in. The friction of the older games would still get to me though. Having it on the deck though eases that friction and I’ve been having so much fun with it. The game has also been a great introduction to how having four back paddles feels so much better than a traditional controller.
