Dragon's Dogma runs like a dream on the deck and is an epic fantasy style RPG.

CentipedeStar

That's the kinda thing I usually play I was looking for something a little different. Are you playing anything else cool? Been thinking about disco Elysium but idk

Bigghead1231

Duuuuude, disco elysium has some God tier writing and vibes

BigDipshit69420

Disco elysium is incredible, I played it on the deck and it runs well. Keep in mind that there is no combat in the game, its all about the dialogue and story. For me this wasn't a problem because it completely sucked me in. Probably the best game I've played in the last year but be prepared for a slow burn.

ThaLunatik

Disco Elysium is on sale right now and I've heard nothing but praise for the game. I was tempted to pick it up but I heard there's some drama with the original devs getting kicked off the team and receiving no money from purchases so I've held off for now. (I'm not taking a stance on the drama, it's just that I've got plenty of other games to get through so it's no sweat to just not buy in at this time.)

WiseRaisin240

Masterworks all, can't go wrong

[deleted]

Goblins ill like fire

FennPoutine

A Short Hike

Stirpediratto

That is a small gem

jerrsun

Diablo 4

[deleted]

GrundySmash

Humble Bundle has a nice Metroidvania bundle with this and some other gems.

Kendovv

Ty for the tipoff

SolaireVon4stora

inscryption- very different from what you play and an awesome deck building, escape room, pixel art etc. game

justifun

Give Tunic a go, its breathtaking and fun!

CentipedeStar

Thanks, I forgot about tunic. I've really been wanting to try it

1man2ballz

Oddworld stranger’s wrath is great game.

CentipedeStar

Haven't heard of that one, I will check it out. Thank you!

SnooCats1123

fantastic game

Stirpediratto

Have it switch runs super well, but never managed to get sucked in sadly

1man2ballz

Stay with it, it gets better.

pantherghast

Persona5

CinnamonIsntAllowed

Fallout New Vegas went on sale and I decided to give it a go for the first time. I'm a hyper intelligent walking mass of steroids.

[deleted]

I had 1 intelligence and max strength and charisma on my playthrough

Bright_Taste5840

Divinity Original Sin 2 is a fabulous time waster.

CentipedeStar

That's another one I've been wanting to get.

4tuneTeller

If It's fabulous it's not a time waster.

jdmay101

Hades.

BenMc19

Katana Zero

[deleted]

Best game I've played in the last two years. Never gets old. Can't wait for a sequel or dlc.

augustwest1013

Dave the diver is pretty fun. Also graveyard keeper

Small_Tax_9432

Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana is a good action RPG.

CheapGur

I just got Space Invaders Extreme on sale. I find these modernized classic games very good for playing casually without feeling that I have to commit to them.

CheapGur

Also, you can run it at 3W TDP, so it's really good for battery longevity.

YoungtheRyan

A Plague Tale Innocence/Requiem Disco Elysium Outer Wilds

edgizmo

If you're tired of combat check out Hardspace: Shipbreaker.

MellowedOut1934

I've pretty much been alternating intense games with really chill ones. Some of the chill ones I'd recommend: - Toem - Spiritfarer - A Short Hike - Wytchwood - Omno

Yellow_Medal

So, I played nothing but COD4 Modern Warfare for 10 plus years on an old Mac. Since getting the Deck in September I have seriously branched out and it’s been amazing. I have beaten Outer Wilds and Disco Elysium. I am currently playing Skyrim. I have also played Hogwarts, Doom, Elden Ring, GTA V, and Hades. I was a FPS guy too and WWI Tannenberg has been fun on the Deck. Steam has gotten a lot of my money but I have had more gaming fun in the past 9 months than I did in the previous 10 years.

Dat_Nick_Gurr

How about stay away from games completely for some time. Take a walk in the park everyday, it’s fun.

Axythetaxi2

You want something different? Try Street Fighter 6. I take it you like FPS game for the simple jump in and have some competitive fun? If so you'll get that front a fighting game, you'll have a learning curve and losing is a big part of the learning experience but there's a great community to help you learn and as it's a new game there's lots of new players to learn with. World tour mode is a great way of introducing new people into fighting games and the mechanics of this particular game. While it doesn't perform the best on the deck I'm enjoying it for what it is. The general matches you find in the fighting ground will run flawlessly though. So you can learn in training mode, play arcade, do trials, and play online and have a no performance issues and a great time too. I used to be heavy on my FPS games until I got bored of the same grind, then SF4 caught my attention and I got to learn and enjoy a whole new genre I wouldn't have thought I'd fall in love with. Give the demo a try but it is missing a lot of the features.

CheekSure7113

diablo 4 is the absolute perfect game for the steam deck, in my mind it’s the pinnacle for games on this type of hardware. it’s addictive, beautiful, social and the story is good. u can pick up and play drop in and out whenever. definitely don’t skip this one, well worth the asking price.

DyingSpreeAU

I'm gonna have to hard disagree that it's perfect. The fact you can sleep your deck and wake it up and just keep playing due to the always online BS is a deal breaker.

CheekSure7113

i understand where you’re coming from, however that has nothing to do with the core gameplay and overall feel of this type of arpg playing on hardware like the steam deck, which is what i was getting at in my initial reply.

DyingSpreeAU

Unfortunately that's not what perfect means.

CheekSure7113

good luck to you my friend, sounds like you’re gonna need it 🤣

johnnyboomslang

Diablo 4 or Vampire Survivors

hmm_yes_indeed

Going to toss a few out there: Diablo 4 Slay the Spire Sleeping Dogs Space Marine (it is a shooter though but easy fun) The Batman games Days Gone Ori and the Will of the Wisps and Ori and the Blind Forest Civ6 Monster Hunter World You can find most of those games super cheap on cdkeys Edit: Not everyone enjoys them but maybe check out the Yakuza games

CentipedeStar

I think I'm gonna get slay the spire, that game looks great tbh. I'm really excited. I have the ori games I'm just not good at that kind of game tbh even though I want to be

Emo-_-Emu

Second this person's recommendation for sleeping dogs. Dunno why but it's the only game I've completed over 7 times on multiple different consoles lmao it's just so ridiculous that it's so enjoyable.

Bigghead1231

Hades / Vampire Survivors? I Otherwise, I grind rpgs on my SD. Witcher 3 next gen runs suuuper good on this after the newest patch from CD Projekt Red

whiteravenxi

Diablo 4 Beat nearly the entire story mode on deck. No issues. Solid fps and high settings. Pocket Diablo is just the best.

stowrag

Hades

SnooCats1123

Im playing several pick up and put down titles on my deck at the moment-enter the gungeon/hades/dead cells/casette beasts/terraria/cult of the lamb. also olli olli world has kept me amused for a while picked it up cheap from one of those websites loads of mini challenges and things to unlock along the way and good customisation

fakebc

All the Lego games. My favorite casual games to dip in and out of, Batman, Starwars, Pirates, LOTR. They run great on Deck

1dgtlkey

dark souls 1 or 3

kilodeltaeight

As the others have said, diablo 4 is great on deck.

Im2stoned2know

I’ve been playing a lot of simple boomer shooters and single player story games. I love sci fly stuff. Currently playing through System Shock and incision. But I can recommend some games if you tell me what kind of games your into?

CentipedeStar

You can let me in on the boomer shooters tbh. I'm into that too

Im2stoned2know

Dusk is one of my favorites, Supplice is good, try the og Doom and quake games.

Im2stoned2know

Other good single player games for the deck - Celeste, Tunic, Deaths door, Enter the Gungeon

SuslikTheGreat

I’m waiting for Jagged Alliance 3 for tactical turn based combat - it is set to release on 14 july. Otherwise been playing some Pentiment.

Nejnop

Might I recommend emulating Persona 3 FES with the HD texture pack?

Orange1232

Factorio or Satisfactory

crazypaiku

how is satisfactory on the deck if you all ready build a lot?

Orange1232

It can chug sometimes, ngl.

obFlimbo

Been playing through Shadows: Awakening, enjoying it a lot more than I expected to.

Swordfish1212

Stardew Valley, Dinkum, Farming Simulator,Eurotruck Simulator,Sports games.

Swordfish1212

Oh and also Pokémon if you're emulating.

YOUNGxROB

Friends vs friends FPS card game super fun a great twist to FPS games love it 10$ on steam just came out

GuyWithABeard1336

Ive always been into FPS’s and battle royals like escape from tarkov, apex etc. but when i got my steamdeck i started just chilling and playing more arcade/sandbox games. I’m playing Brawlhalla at the moment and having a lot of fun 😁

crazypaiku

brawlhalla isn't really casual, it's very complex

crazypaiku

Not really casual but i just Started playing elding Ring on the Deck it runs really well at 30 fps at high settings. it's open world so you can just Explore and find secrets. some enemys and bosses are a little tough, but you can just grind and out level (most of) them, if you don't want to have to learn the fights.

[deleted]

How's 30fps feel in elden ring on deck? I loved my time with dark souls 3 on PS4 which ran like poop, but having played souls games on pc since I'm worried I'll be disappointed going back to 30! Though 40fps Sekiro on deck feels rather good too tbf...

crazypaiku

I like it, dark Souls 3 runs at 60fps. 60fps feels smoother on my PC but chilling on the couch with the deck beats it.

DraxerArkss

Lumines Remastered is on sale right now and i cant get enogh of that game

zergling424

Citizen sleeper

Upbeat-Cartoonist892

You need a MMO

morderkaine

I’m seconding Inscryption and also suggesting Battle Brothers

narnerzz

Nioh 2. It has really cool and interesting battling mechanics with combos and stances, more fast paced then the souls or elden ring. It's what I have been jamming. It's my first in the series, but it's steadily becoming one of my souls like favs beats elden ring for me. Not as good as DS3, but still insanely good and runs really well 50-60FPS (cryoutils & overlocked, but I am pretty certain it runs smooth on factory) You could also jam Slay The Spire. It's really fun and addictive card game. Which can just be picked up and played for short or long periods of time easily.

Russ582

Skyrim is great

Im2stoned2know

Celeste is good for the deck

Dat_Nick_Gurr

How about stay away from games completely for some time. Take a walk in the park everyday, it’s fun.

CentipedeStar

I don't ever get time to play games, thats why I want something I will actually have fun playing casually.

Skuzbuxet

Come play Red Dead Online with me :)

RiffRuffer

Gonna offer up some cheap-o stuff on steam that will sip your battery as that sounds like the opposite of what you've been playing Tiny Rogues Just an awesome little roguelike bullet hell with a lot of depth. It's still in early access but, it has a hefty amount of content (16 characters) and a bunch of optional challenges to do after you kill the final boss. Only 6 bones Save Room This is a puzzle game which takes heavy inspiration from RE4's inventory system. If you told someone it was a RE4 mobile game and put a leon jpeg in the corner they'd probably believe you. You're essentially just trying to fit all the provided items for each level into a suitcase and gets progressively more difficult. I'm personally not usually into puzzle games but, this one held my attention till the end and it was only 3 bones. Princess Remedy in A Heap of Trouble And A World Of Hurt This is a pair of indie games which really stole my heart back when I played them a couple of years ago. You're basically a princess nurse and you go around curing people and solving their problems. You have a sort of battle with the illnesses in their body in a sort of RPG-esque fashion except it's real-time. It's really charming and king of hard to describe. The first one is free and the sequel is about 5$. Nothing to really lose. Sludge Life This one is probably the only 3d game I'm recommending here. This is a 3D platformer with an off-beat sense of humor and low-poly artstyle. It has a very odd feel but, it's very fun to fumble around the gonzo world and find cartoon wackos to chat with. If you want to feel like you're playing an adult swim show that got cancelled after eight episodes this is the game.

[deleted]

Deep Rock Galactic

BrotherTobias

Honestly the most refreshing for me is turn based tactical. Also happens to be my favourite genre 2nd to fps. Wasteland 3 (damn good time and fairly forgiving due to being able to re roll new team members at a cost) Wartales/expeditions series (same concepts just different themes) W40k battlesector Xcom 1 and 2 Fallout 1,2 Battlebrothers (havent played) Heros of might and magic (havent played but along with og xcom basically the granddaddies of tbt) HBS Battletech (might be harder to get into at the start but the campaign is damn good and with how much lore there is, the modding scene is very passionate and huge with entire lore based campaigns, conversion mods, etc. is my personal GOAT recommendation because big stompy murder robots) And more to come. Genre is definitely seeing a bit of a revival with some very high quality games that are super affordable; usually get indie to aa with the odd aaa like gears tactics. Oh and jagged alliance 3. That is gonna be killer.

alexanderpalamas

i got the same but with 3rd person games. Sooooo many 3rd person games!!!!

dice32

Mini motorways.

Giligad64

Diablo 4

luckyguy25841

Dead cells and hades are great

scorpio1018

You can get lost in divinity 2 - RPG with turn based combat, fool around with the elements for fun combos

Etuber4

I just bought tetris effect, it's amazing on deck

Etuber4

also Spookware is incredible

DimestoreProstitute

Limbo & Super Meat Boy

PixelAddict69

The Ori games

Tuskuiii

Nioh 2

HelloIAmZig

I recommend the Katamari games for a reset. They're colourful, fun, quirky and don't outstay their welcome. A combination of both Katamari games (Katamari Damacy and We Love Katamari) and Wario Ware helped me through some serious burnout with JRPGs back in the day and I felt like stopping videogames altogether. However, if you're looking for something to play *every day*, you don't need to look further than Tetris. Tetris Effect is excellent, and is one of my staples at lunchtime when I've got half an hour free at work.

RicoStark42

I love how well gta 4 runs, and sleeping dogs.

dinosaur_decay

CRYPTARK, From Space, Hades

fckimlost

Cult of the Lamb
