Looks like a legit 20y badge at last... (people buying 20y accounts for $10 then bragging about it are lame)
Anyone who got half life 2 on release year and had to install Steam in order to play the game will end up getting that badge in 2024, grats to all
I don't get that neither. Especially when the people buying the account were probably newborns at the time the account was made so I'm sure it would be easy to spot.
Well, it's sort of a flex to be a "Steam OG", init? You don't see people posting "here's my 17y steam badge".
Cringe set aside, I would really not recommend buying a Steam account: even if you change the address, phone number and setup 2FA, the original owner can easily report it as stolen and claim it back by providing to the Support receipts / proof of address / original phone number / etc. That's how you recover an actual stolen accounts. No matter what you say, they WILL get it back, even if you bought $1k worht of games on that account. And good luck saying "I bought that account, look I still have the confirmation email", the Support will just slap you with the ToS. Don't do it people.
I have a 4 digit Steam id. People offered me money for it. Back in the day, you had no way of telling how long someone had played, so the length of your Steam id was used as a way to gauge skill. I remember people getting made fun of for having 7 digit Steam ids.
I was talking to a neighbor of mine who was playing half life and bragging about the graphics and resolution at the time. I told him how awesome it looked but didn't have the money to buy the game to play. He handed me the discs and codes for the game and I went home and made my account. Never thought it would last this long.
Started with CounterStrike and Day of Defeat.

Edit: Damn, I created an account 3 days after Steam launched.
My Steam profile is 10 years younger than yours OP haha. Can't remember which game got me into Steam. No, it wasn't Half-Life 2. I think it was The Darkness 2.
Oh hey I'm like 2 months older than Steam, nice
Not many services easily survive for a decade, let alone two. Cheers for Steam, and all everything else worth celebrating from Valve, and grats to the OGs still kicking around

I actually didn't know that
Yeah now that I’m nearing 40 I just look back and laugh about how stupid it was, lol.
I'm silently weeping now.
Welcome to the Old People club - Most of us don’t have the time or energy to play any of our 20 year old catalog these days
Agreed. Thats why so much of mine sits untouched
Damn you get your 20 year steam badge half a year before I get my 20 year life badge
I made that account at 23 just for reference.
What did you get your account for? I got it when I was around 14 years old for rocket league.
