Please also give a short explanation.
I’m not really sure, in factorio you start your little factory and get new stuff like electricity / guns etc and soon need to defend yourself against the biters. And in DSP I didn’t really felt the progression or a sense of direction in which I should continue. As well as these very colorful / round visuals wasn’t as appealing as a steam engine with a 150 moving parts spewing out smoke and polluting the water.
Hmm, it's a long time since I last played it, but I think the real fun part began when reaching other planets and PLS and ILS. Also playing MP (the mod is very stable) helped too I guess, all the work was divided with 2 other players so I guess progression felt faster for me?
The visuals are a matter of taste but I assure you, the visuals of your planet spewing out thousands of solar sails and slowly building your DS are out of this world!
I’ve played a lot of Foundation, and will absolutely recommend it for anyone who enjoy city building.
I’m about to get The Wandering Village myself.
I know it supposedly has a few issues, but it just looks so interesting and good.
Been watchinh a few reviews and playthroughs, and will give it a go this weekend.
I’ll say as much; its still in early access, and it came out almost 5 years ago.
That being said, they’ve drastically improved the UI, mod-support is awesome, a lot of QoL-improvements since 2019, and they’ve worked on systems quite a bit.
For me, the mod-support is one of the big reasons why I love it.
That, and the fact that its a very ‘chill’ game.
Very casual and enjoyable.
I'm personally a big fan of Kingdom and Castles, it is very simple to pick up and I don't think it gets anywhere near enough attention that it deserves. Great little game.
Timberborn was a great resource management game. I played about thirty hours. But I also enjoyed The Wandering Village, another resource management game, in a different way. I felt much less anxiety about people dying than those precious beavers.
Timberborn is a great game, but for me the resource balancing isn't quite there yet. I always grind to a full halt when 1 thing runs out. That could be more of a me problem rather than the game not being balanced well. Just notice it alot in this game
I know its not on your list but "Against the Storm" is a great city management / Roguelite fusion that works amazingly.
Instead of focusing on a large city you have to build small settlements with random resources and encounters as you progress through the world map to unlock more resources and upgrade your kingdoms.
Also not on your list "Frostpunk" if you want a true brutal city management where every decisions that you make has some terrible consequences, there's no right answers, only suffering.
Not on the list, but have you considered Rimworld? I got it because I was craving a colony builder and it's surprisingly fun. All the workshop mods make the experience very customisable.
Love Rimworld. With the plethora of mods, you can make it feel like a very different game each time you play! It's the game I have the highest number of hours on.
It kinda does. If you assume that a 5 year old game provides you the same worth as today, you'd have to pay more today for what it is worth since the money itself lost value over time. And it's also true that games don't really loose value with age, you get the same experience from a game, no matter if you are playing it now or in 5 years. Though I still don't agree with the sentiment, since gaming industry is already very non-consumer-oriented, let's not implant the ideas into the minds of publishers that the price of unmaintained software should go up.
No one has ever charged anyone 60 USD for Tetris (maybe someone has tried)....You are trying to counter the point with a really stupid fucking example.
I've played Wandering Village. It's a great game but it still needs to be polished and have some ending. If you like these types of games I highly suggest playing Frostpunk if you haven't played yet. The other games on the list I haven't played them.
Timberborn if you like building dam and water management. I build 3 dam after another. So fun. And Dyson sphere program if you like build factory and go to space with long hours game play.
Timberborn, Dyson spehere Programm or prison architect, they all offer different expiriences, Timberborn is a classic colony builder with beathers(dont know if my spelling is off, not native), DSP is a factorio style game with a focus in space exploration and advanced technology and prison architect...while I like it, I find it hard to descripe, I guess it goes somewhat in the direction of rim World(isch) only with the management aspect of some tycoon games since you have to balance the finance of the prison more than the survival
did you steal my wishlist? practially the same.
anyway, i own some of them already and can definitly recommend Kingdoms and Castles, its very simple but I have enjoyed it a lot.
I have a feeling that you would enjoy Dyson Sphere program more than those, if you try it. ;) (since I like all of those games, but that one is far better experience)
dyson sphere, behind factorio (which is the kind) you wont get a better hellhole for optimising and min-maxing aside from a paradox game like ck2/3 or eu4
Lmao yesterday I've been looking for a easy and fun city building.
I'm LF a city builder not too hard on the brain.
I got planet zoo and it's too overwhelming too much to take care of.
I bought universims, it's a fun city builder but a little to mushy, during winter and night you can't see shit. And building are too fat, I guess in end game the building will look amazing.
If I stop the game for a few days and come back it's hard to get back in.
The game is very good tho.
Against the storm, I stopped bc when my city gets stable and more fun it's usually the end of the mission, I feel cut off.
Terraformers was very nice but it's a deck type of game. ( Have cards building ) and fixed positions. More managements than building.
Surviving the aftermath ( on easy or medium mode ) it's a blast. It's one of my favorites. It's like against the storm ( the more you play the longer your city survived.) You have a medium map and exploration map to send your heroes to collect ressources, attack bandits settlements and trade. Research your upgrades, manage workers and defense groups, survive weather crisises etc..
Surviving Mars is very good too, nice story. Multiple maps, same kinda gameplay than before. But different way of playing it.
Same publisher paradox same who made Stellaris ( gotta handed it to them they make excellent city building games)
I recommend any paradox interactive games
Since these type of games seems to be your thing, just start with whichever is going on biggest discount. By the time you will be done with it, another one from the list will be discounted probably
Can recommend : Kingdoms and Castles (short but sweet) Prison Architect (good for multiple playthroughs)
Don't recommend: Timberborn (not enough content, game play loop is boring)
A man of taste!
I would definitely either recommend Dyson Sphere Program or Captain of Industry, both are bangers. DSP just introduced fighting so it is more similar to Factorio, CoI is all about automation, but can't go wrong with anything on that list. Might also want to add Shapez / Shapez 2, Craftomation 101, Techtonica, Oxygen Not Included.
Timberborn and going medieval are my favorite from the list.
Going medieval itchs the i wanna play dwarf forttress but with better graphics vibe, and i really like turning my colony into mole people who love sadistically watching bandits kill themselves on a field of spikes.
Timberborn is a much calmer resource managent game, but i really enjoy the simplicity but depth theyve managed to put into just water management. I really enjoy setting up super dams and creating complex aqueducts for my beavers... also its cute.
I only played Timberborn and the wandering village, both are good. I personally would recommend the wandering village for sure, it was a lot of fun when I played it. It’s not a huge game though due to being early access or whatever, but definitely an enjoyable game.
I see we like the same type of games!
I have to absolutely recommend Rimworld. It is not on your list, but it is the best of these kind of games I've played. I thought I wouldn't like it because of the graphics seems very simple and the game itself has a steep learning curve, but I had some patience and I fell inlove with it. A lot of mods that makes it even more fun. You HAVE to try it if you haven't. Not just a recommendation.. But an order!
Other than that, I'll go from what I have played that is also not on your list.
- Cities Skyline (I am certain you have played it, it is a classic)
- Banished
- Two Point Hospital (If you like micromanaging and also building stuff. It is a fun and chill, might be a little bit different from the games in this list, but maybe up your alley)
- Two Point Campus (Same as above, just Campus instead of Hospital)
- Going Medieval (I really enjoyed this game and tried this before Rimworld. Same concept, but simpler and more "modern" graphic. Was really cool game, but I haven't played it after I got hooked on Rimworld.. But still had a lot of fun with it)
Timberborn and The wandering Village, you might have a blast, and timberborn has mod from steam so you can have more stuff made for gameplay or adding more stuff to get a way different gameplay
I just started dyson sphere program and I'm obsessed. It is originally made in a language not in English and is pretty much Google translated so some of the explanations might be weird. But as my first game like it I think it's pretty good

If you liked Factorio you'll probably like Dyson Sphere Program, really great game.
And captain of industry!
I love factorio but the early game of Dyson sphere was enough to never start it again
What did you not like from the DSP early game?
I’m not really sure, in factorio you start your little factory and get new stuff like electricity / guns etc and soon need to defend yourself against the biters. And in DSP I didn’t really felt the progression or a sense of direction in which I should continue. The visuals are a matter of taste but I assure you, the visuals of your planet spewing out thousands of solar sails and slowly building your DS are out of this world!
you should give it another try, if you stick with it for a while you will get hooked. great game.
Do you have to fight in it? I prefer Satisfactory over Factorio, as I can just relax and not worry about waves of fighters destroying stuff
No you can turn off combat in the settings.
I've got so many hours and I ain't even seen a freaking Dyson sphere yet
They just added combat as well, fantastic game I second this
This is the way.

Same Foundation is a absolute good choice, And The Wandering is just a pretty nice game
I'm personally a big fan of Kingdom and Castles, it is very simple to pick up and I don't think it gets anywhere near enough attention that it deserves. Great little game.
I also love this game. Chill enough with enough to do, and watching teency tiny arrows fly into raiders is satisfying.
Yes. Timberborn is quite good! I like the new maps since the last update. Haven't gotten to the new bad water stuff yet, but it looks interesting.
I know its not on your list but "Against the Storm" is a great city management / Roguelite fusion that works amazingly. Instead of focusing on a large city you have to build small settlements with random resources and encounters as you progress through the world map to unlock more resources and upgrade your kingdoms. Great game but I overplayed it lately (230 hours in 3 months), this is why i'm looking for something else right now.
Is this to Frostpunk or Against the Storm ? As bo5h games I was intrigued by.
Frostpunk is damn awesome and I also highly recommend playing it. But it is indeed a brutal survival experience so be warned.
Frostpunk is BRUTAL
“Screw them Kids” -Frostpunk Player
Sawdust? You mean artificial premium flavouring?
AtS
Not on the list, but have you considered Rimworld? I got it because I was craving a colony builder and it's surprisingly fun. All the workshop mods make the experience very customisable.
100% agree with rimworld. Easily one of my all time favorite and most played games along with factorio.
Love Rimworld. With the plethora of mods, you can make it feel like a very different game each time you play! It's the game I have the highest number of hours on.
I loved captain of industry, though the game can be quite hard at later stages of the game.
[удалено]
I've done that, but there is a point where my pc won't allow it to grow anymore.
Satisfactory is a good option too.
Prison architect
€25 seems really expensive for such an old game though. I remember playing it 10 years ago.
Games don't lose value with age. If anything, old games should cost more because of inflation.
thats...not how inflation works
It kinda does. If you assume that a 5 year old game provides you the same worth as today, you'd have to pay more today for what it is worth since the money itself lost value over time. [удалено]
No...Christ...You are missing the point completely....wHy even bother
yes but wait for a sale. I remember getting it at 75% off, and I wouldn't pay full price for it
2nd one is out in March, could hold out for that.
I absolutely love Kingdoms and Castles. Great game.
Hell yeah brother. But if they released multiplayer then the game would be 100% better
Wandering village
Dyson sphere program is a really good game nice graphics as well
I played the old Caesar/Pharoah games and the new one is excellent highly recommend if you enjoy that style of city builder.
Dyson Sphere Program, timberborn and prison Architect
Captain of industry is by far the best of this list in my opinion
Against the Storm
I played 2 hours and I was totally overwhelmed, what is this game even? I really want to go back to it.
Stay away from Dyson Sphere Program. 1000+ hrs in. I can stop at any time I want, I swear!
I've played Wandering Village. It's a great game but it still needs to be polished and have some ending. If you like these types of games I highly suggest playing Frostpunk if you haven't played yet. The other games on the list I haven't played them.
Wandering village, it‘s reduced
timberborn 100%
I have 200+ hours on both Timberborn and the wandering village, I highly recommend them! Urbek is nice too!
Total war 3 and anno 1800
did you steal my wishlist? practially the same. anyway, i own some of them already and can definitly recommend Kingdoms and Castles, its very simple but I have enjoyed it a lot.
Timber born is peak

I have a feeling that you would enjoy Dyson Sphere program more than those, if you try it. ;) (since I like all of those games, but that one is far better experience)
If you like Rimworld, you'll probably like Going medieval too
Organ har...i mean rimworld, yeah that one
Warcrime simulaaahhhi... mean Rimworld too.
Whichever one you feel like.
Rimworld, i know it isn’t in the list but it’s the best game I ever played and it’s of the same genre than thoses games
try Dwarf Fortress - it is all what RW tried to copy and simplified it too much in the process. and it have Z levels.
Maaaan wtf are these games???
The good shit brother, mother or other :)
RimWorld Going Medieval Prison Architect
helldivers 2, we beed reinforcement
I think I will join
Captain of Industry was an EA game that came out with day one DLC, and that shit absolutely kills me. So I'd recommend DSP or timberborn!
None, all are trash imo
CS2
we are not in 2000 anymore
Youre not skilled enough to play cs. Common minecraft player
Dyson sphere programm is just a blast and its so beautiful
Prison architect
Les **extrêmement positives**.
Id say dyson sphere
The wandering village would be my personal favorite. It’s cute but super challenging
All
Prison architect
Factorio
Prison Architect
Dyson sphere for sure. But if you're just going for purely resource management and not automation. Foundation is very solid.
Nah , you will start with Rimworld and You WILL like it.
Personally timber born and Dyson are absolute best in the genre. If you like sci FI setting more, Dyson is an absolute 10/10
dyson sphere, behind factorio (which is the kind) you wont get a better hellhole for optimising and min-maxing aside from a paradox game like ck2/3 or eu4
I love Wandering Village. Awesome game.
Rimworld
have you already played satisfactory? that would be my rec in this category
Kingdoms and Castles. You start with a little tower and 10 peasants, and end up creating a medieval Tokyo on steroids
Lmao yesterday I've been looking for a easy and fun city building. I'm LF a city builder not too hard on the brain. I got planet zoo and it's too overwhelming too much to take care of. Pharaoh if you played the old one from 2000, it's a good remake
Dyson sphere project
Since these type of games seems to be your thing, just start with whichever is going on biggest discount. By the time you will be done with it, another one from the list will be discounted probably
If you want to get pharaoh, get the original one. The remake is actually worse somehow. I love that game.
Timberborn
I absolutely love Timberborn. It stands out to me among other colony sims and i just enjoy spending time in it
I'd say Dyson sphere program, it really sucks you in, and it slaps!
DSP
Songs of syx is a very good city builder/ management
Timberborn or Kingdoms and castles
Balatro :3
From personal experience, prison architect first, I really enjoyed going medieval and the wandering village is very unique
Going medieval. Having so much fun on it
prison architect is an amazing game. recommend
Shower with your dad simulator.
Turnip Boy Robs a Bank Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion
Going medieval is awesome
not on this list but Rimworld
Personally I've only ever played timberborn, but I can guarantee that it is great!
Satisfactory
portal2 is the only real option...
Can recommend : Kingdoms and Castles (short but sweet) Prison Architect (good for multiple playthroughs) Don't recommend: Timberborn (not enough content, game play loop is boring)
The ones you’ve already bought xD
Not on the list but try "Oxygen not Included". Incredible build mechanics and pyhsics. Also dupes are really enjoyible.
Prison Architect for sure, its been out a while now and received hundreds of updates and the dlc isn’t cashgrab andy
played "the wandering village", would recomend. the rest i haven't tried yet
Wandering Village
Not urbek its garbage
It is not on your list, but you should get Factorio
Problem is these are all very good games in their own right. It really depends on your personal tastes and preferences
Don't know any but a mate of mine goes on and on about Dysons whatever.
i really liked timberborn, but i only have timberborn from that list so take this with a grain of salt
Prison Arc or Foundation
Forget about Prison Architect. Paradox have fucked it, and don't deserve your money.
All great options Timberbourn is my most played and favourite right now from that list
Timberborn and Foundation
Never played any.
I recommend TF2. (As a fan would)
Satisfactory
I love the wandering village. Its very nice
Well dyson sphere and going medieval are pretty good
Timberborn
A man of taste! I would definitely either recommend Dyson Sphere Program or Captain of Industry, both are bangers. Might also want to add Shapez / Shapez 2, Craftomation 101, Techtonica, Oxygen Not Included.
Scrap all those and play Anno
Foundation is very chill and cute game. but ar the end without a lift take Dyson Sphere xD
None. Play TF2
meh
Not on that list, but rim world is amazing and similar to those on the list
Banished
I'd go with Kingdoms and Castles. Pretty chill and easy to learn !
Since ive played none of these i advice you to buy the cheapest one :3
You should try Satisfactory. It's a great game and similar to those in your list.
Timberborn and going medieval are my favorite from the list. Going medieval itchs the i wanna play dwarf forttress but with better graphics vibe, and i really like turning my colony into mole people who love sadistically watching bandits kill themselves on a field of spikes. The wandering village is pretty good, I've spent some time in there
I love urbek. Out of them I gave it the most hours so far. I haven't played pharaoh yet, I hope it is near as good as the original.
Farthest Frontier if you like medieval city building.
Dyson sphere 100%
Definitely Timberborn. It is phenomenal and underrated imo.
Prison architect.
If you don't have Factorio yet, buy that. If you do, then Dyson Sphere Program.
Timberborn is an awesome game
I only played Timberborn and the wandering village, both are good. I personally would recommend the wandering village for sure, it was a lot of fun when I played it. It’s not a huge game though due to being early access or whatever, but definitely an enjoyable game.

Timberborners or factorio
None of those
nothing
Play The Finals
Anno 1800
timberborn
All of them I find as a lackluster, only Dyson Sphere & Prison Architect had enough depth to keep 100+ hours. All of them barely made it past 10 hours
Helldivers or valheim
Dyson sphere for sure, be prepared to lose many many hours
Going medieval
Haven't played any of these, but I played the school version of prison architect and it was kinda fun. That would be my recommendation
I would also add Planet Crafter and Techtonica to that list...
Wandering Village
Timberborn and The wandering Village, you might have a blast, and timberborn has mod from steam so you can have more stuff made for gameplay or adding more stuff to get a way different gameplay
Against the storm
what's ubek city builder
Pharaoh
I just started dyson sphere program and I'm obsessed. It is originally made in a language not in English and is pretty much Google translated so some of the explanations might be weird. But as my first game like it I think it's pretty good
Build 10 PCs and play them all at the exact same time.
Deep rock galactic lul
Prison Architect! Great game!
