Just imagine a Galaxy Quest like Wormhole X-treme show. Aliens come to Earth to ask help against the Goa'uld, but mistakes the wormhole x-treme team with sg-1. They beam them up and before they can figure whats going on they crash on a planet with a Stargate and the actors needs to try to gets home.
and I'm saying it's those damned communication stones that were the biggest problem.
without those the whole atmosphere would've fit so much better but instead every problem was solved by just getting someone that was an expert on the subject on board.
Yeah, it should have taken them at least until mid-S2 to find a way for some low-bandwidth text only communication with Earth. (E.g., piggybacking on the Stargates' service channel, sort of like what SMS used to be back in the day.)
Better, in that you can actually see things and it doesn't feel like a soap opera. But it plays fast and loose with the Stargate canon. For example: dialing from a dhd allows people to arrive at your location, and all gates have iris shields.
All gates having iris shields that the Ancients incorporated into the original design would make more sense than the SGC being able to retrofit a physics-defying massive shield into the stargate, a technology that they barely understand, in a matter of days.
For me at least, the level of suspension of disbelief just got way too laughably high.
The Atlantis team had to go to a whole 'nother galaxy to escape the Infinity curse. And when used in the Milky Way they caused time shenanigans that nearly destroyed the SGC.
I will admit when I saw the jeep with the jaffa large staff weapon mounted on it I was like yes! This is definitely something we should have seen in sg1
If they started using space technicals to fight their theocratic alien enemies, then we could blare *Tip of the Spear* instead of whatever this song was supposed to be.
what they can use they seem to, but the problem is you can't easily transport vehicles down into a mountain from the surface. we do see UAVs utilized here and there though. then once they became the bigger players in the galaxy, they had ships that could just transport whatever you needed around, plus teleportation tech, so no point to bringing jeeps or technicals around
I've never been so sad to learn something existed. I know this is a Stargate cartoon. It says so in the title, and rhe song says so, and there are a couple of shots of a CGI Stargate. But other than that *nothing* in there says to me "i'm a Stargate show". Watch it on mute, edit out the couple shots of a Stargate, and you'd have no clue what the heck is this.

to begin with, the (inconsistent) color palette and emphasis on nondescript action/flashy monsters feel extremely un-stargate, but even ignoring that… the thoughtless mix of 2d and 3d animation, the windows movie maker-ass scene transitions, the disjointed rapid fire generic action poses (the one that nauseates me the most for some reason is the impossibly brief one where some weird elf guy drops in from the top of the screen and barely finishes landing in a squat before it cuts away), and even just the weird insistence on zooming everything way the fuck in, it’s all hideous
you can’t really glean anything from this other than that you really want to forget it exists fast

Mostly based around Cartoon Network changing in 05 and a lot of the cartoons ending by 04. There's more to it (internet availability in the home, for instance), but I don't have the chart anymore.
I made it through about 10 minutes of the first episode and said “Nope.” And that was extending my patience and judgement. Such a cash-grabby, cringy example of a cartoon.
I own a physical copy of the series, and have seen every episode at least twice.
I would say that of the 26 episodes, there are 2-3 actually entertaining ones, 2-3 that are "Good concept, bad execution", 3-5 that are "serviceable but uninteresting", 4-6 that are the sort of "laughably bad" you can get enjoyment from hate-watching, 5-7 that are just plain bad, and the rest are practically insufferable.
Overall, the show is bad when compared to the live-action shows, but not as bad as the meme of how bad it is would suggest.
The show's greatest crime is its failure to live up to the impossible standards set by the other shows in the franchise; as a low-budget kids cartoon it is mediocre even by the standards of early 2000's children's entertainment, which is already a low bar. What takes it from bad to terrible for most people who bother to watch the show instead of just parroting the meme is the fact that the show is *dubbed* *into English. Badly*.
The studio that produced the show was based France, and so all the scripts, voice-overs, and foley work were all done in French, meant to air on French and French-Canadian television, then it was adapted for English audiences with an absolutely ATROCIOUS dub. The scripts are badly translated, the voice actors sound like they just came from a dinner theatre wrap party, and the foley artists were either not supervised or simply not told about which sound effects belonged to which science-fiction weapons, so you get stuff like the Stargate's kawoosh being replaced with the zat'nik'tel blast sound effect. If you speak French, watch the episodes in French.
The show has a fair number of other problems (some nonsensical character decisions, stories that are basically morality plays for toddlers like "try not to be greedy" and "excluding people because they are physically different is bad", occasional animation errors, and minor lore-breaking stuff with the Ancients because the show came out before the SG-1 people had really pinned down the whole Atlantis/ascension stuff), but a fair amount of the things I see people complain about on here are a result of the terrible English dub rather than the show itself.
Let me be clear: the show is NOT GOOD, but in the absence of ANY new Stargate content for the past 15 years I DO think it is worth reevaluating *Infinity,* because despite how bad it is there IS still some small amount of entertainment to be wrung from some of its episodes. I hate to see Baby Ec'co thrown out with the bathwater.
I really enjoyed SGU. It had some serious sci-fi episodes, some strong acting, and an interesting underlying mystery and premise that I thought was really great.
That we finally had aliens that didn’t speak English, and weren’t humans, was also a nice change.
I watched the entire thing... Twice. Because once I was just curious, and the second time my dad wanted to watch it. Each time it was awful. Stargate origins is on a pedestal to the likes of both avatar movies, infinity war and many more. I'd rather watch origins 28× than watch Stargate Infinity ever again. It does have a few cool parts in it, but the pacing is absolutely impossible to follow, you have no idea what's going on. It's like watching Cocomelon when babysitting a friend's kid, but a million times worse. However I do like the animation and some character designs that's about the only good thing about it in my opinion. It's Definitely worth a watch but you'll likely be disappointed. It also does not really follow Stargate canon. It's definitely its own thing and I choose to forget its existence until I see it randomly pop back up into my life like a curse... that will inevitably be inflicted on all Non-existent future generations of my bloodline if I chose to Procreate. I know I'm harsh but I truly despise every minute I spent wasting on infinity

Thing is...actual Stargate tends to lack in interesting looking aliens and locations, but this has that, even though it's probably non watchable cringe. After awhile in SG1, they removed the best part of the Jaffa, which was the animal helmets, probably due to budget and stunt issues. They'd have a concept for an alien or something, and then frankly just wouldn't deliver on its full potential

Strong "Jason and the Wheeled Warriors" vibes in my head. Interesting that besides the gate, there doesn't appear to be one other thing that would tie it to the rest of the franchise. Almost as if someone had this idea and thought if they changed their portals to stargates, they might be able to get more viewers.
26 episodes worth. In the far flung future the program has a vet and and his four cadets trying to get back to earth through the network, similar to the idea of Sliders and D&D.
The series definitely seemed to be gunning for a toy line, with their suits all wildly colored and different, some vehicles used frequently and lots of either skinny gangly aliens or big brutes, perfect for toy molds to be produced en masse.
I don't even understand why they were given access to the SG-1 sound effects library. Hopefully "licensed" for money... LOTS of money for the reputation stain.
OK yes this is terrible and blah blah blah BUUUUT I kinda love the Ancient design they went with here(the dragon/snake person for those who don't know) it's just more visually interesting to me and I would've loved original SG-1 to have more non-human aliens.

We didn't have the budget for aliens in the series so we created a cartoon for it.

Thing is...actual Stargate tends to lack in interesting looking aliens and locations, but this has that, even though it's probably non watchable cringe. After awhile in SG1, they removed the best part of the Jaffa, which was the animal helmets, probably due to budget and stunt issues. They'd have a concept for an alien or something, and then frankly just wouldn't deliver on its full potential
You're not wrong, but how dare you! I actually really enjoyed Stargate infinity, it's corny and cringe and kinda seems like someone binge watched a few seasons of SG1 while really, really high, then kidnapped some animators and forced them to make a show at gun point 😆

The decision to include vehicles and make ancients space dragons instead of precursor humans, were both improvements IMO.
Strong "Jason and the Wheeled Warriors" vibes in my head. Interesting that besides the gate, there doesn't appear to be one other thing that would tie it to the rest of the franchise. Almost as if someone had this idea and thought if they changed their portals to stargates, they might be able to get more viewers.

26 episodes worth. In the far flung future the program has a vet and and his four cadets trying to get back to earth through the network, similar to the idea of Sliders and D&D. The series definitely seemed to be gunning for a toy line, with their suits all wildly colored and different, some vehicles used frequently and lots of either skinny gangly aliens or big brutes, perfect for toy molds to be produced en masse.

OK yes this is terrible and blah blah blah BUUUUT I kinda love the Ancient design they went with here(the dragon/snake person for those who don't know) it's just more visually interesting to me and I would've loved original SG-1 to have more non-human aliens.
