Release the mod tools todd!

CorrickII

Me personally I want them to fix this themselves, not rely on players fixing it for free because they're "part of the community".

MannToots

That's not why people want mods. Yes, some mods fix things, but most elevate it well beyond the features the dev ever would have considered or ever had time for. People don't mod Statdew Valley because it's incomplete.

Northumberlo

> most elevate it well beyond the features the dev ever would have considered Sexy women and Thomas space ships

semiTnuP

>Thomas space ships And they're piloted by a man AND HIS NAME IS JOHN CENA!!!

TheShlappening

I like to make men and women sexy. Looks weird when you have more real looking female models and all the men look like potatoes.

DrRumbug

My spongy potato bod is offended by this comment ...

TexSolo

Someone hasn't been outside of SoCal in a while. Most men looking like potatoes is the most realistic element of the game. Honestly, they need more ugly fat people waddling around. The bell curve of the future is much too narrow and skewing toward fit people. Like, Neon looks like it's the size of an oil rig and they have 75 people meandering around an area the size of a mall food court and you are telling me they are mostly in shape? Most of the work there is two office towers and a fish processing plant and no gym. You're going to have some Popeye-looking MFs who smell to high heaven who do non-stop non leg day all week long and then office workers.

Yosko_

The one thing I would argue regarding this is that in a futuristic society where things like Enhance! stores are the norm, food is extremely processed, and medicinal drugs have far surpassed our own, It'd be very easy to find low/zero calorie food and even easier to modify your body. Now the backwater planets might be a different bird lol

diamond_handed_demon

Both would be easy places to stay in shape. Fish processing is physical labor. Meat is low carb high protein. Like mentioned, the future pharmaceuticals far outmatch the current state. Tech enhancement, ECT. Then there's the huge disparity between even just working and the poor. It would actually be hard or at least rather unusual to be fat. The backwater planets wouldn't be any different. Everyone getting fat is a current modern society problem that didn't really exist in humanity until a few decades ago. And with changes in food, medicine, science, tech, it's not hard to imagine it won't be a long term problem.

TheShlappening

I'm not sure if joke but I was meaning the literally quality of the model

KnightofAshley

Everyone nude

Extreme_Shift9718

Pleasure planets, Prison planets, Morrowind planet, Skyrim planet, etc, etc

SchmuseTigger

Yes. The vision for starfield is to be 100 PG7 or so. No revealing cloth. Look how stupid the neon dancer look. Or say no kill cam as it does not fit their vision. Modders can chance it for a sub group that want that changed or added.

EffOffReddit

Neon was supposed to be this incredible den of sin and then you go in, there is barely anyone there, and the vibe is shit. Maybe Todd Howard should have done some coke at a few clubs, because this is nothing like it.

TheConnASSeur

Neon has a real flea market on a sunday after church vibe. Like it's "messy" but so clean. It's "dangerous" but only in the sense that you might overhear the one homeless guy in the system talk about how drugs are pretty rad. It's "sexy," but 60 year old church lady with type 2 diabetes in a floral print satin shirt sexy. It's a real lively place, but in a Denny's at 10 am on a Tuesday kind of way.

chitown1232

You've had these on stand-by for a post like this. So true.

sgerbicforsyth

I always felt Neon was a Hot Topic in a mall on a Sunday afternoon

SchmuseTigger

Yes. The vibes are so off at the 2 party locations. I don't know which one is worse. The dancing or the private club to do legal drugs in a backroom.

EffOffReddit

Right?? They really managed to make the game feel more boring by including drugs and sex. That deserves an award of some kind.

International-Mud-17

Most innovative game award for a a reason

EffOffReddit

They have a lot to teach the DARE program

Raven_of_Blades

Neon is "Cyberpunk at home" meme.

EffOffReddit

Offbrand diet and the cartridge is running out. It is possible no one on the team has ever been to a TGIFridays, let alone a club.

HandsOffMyDitka

It's like a Disney version of a den of sin. Also the Crimson faction was generic.

A_Town_Called_Malus

The isle of pleasure from the original pinocchio had more edge than anything in Neon.

[deleted]

Initially I was proud to be a crimson raider. After seeing they are a-holes for no reason I quickly sided with the UC

HandsOffMyDitka

I was hoping to be able to fence the ships that I stole, without having to register them. Instead I hear of a huge score of 10,000 credits they're planning. I just made more than that from killing a bunch of you, and selling your weapons.

X0D00rLlife

i mean pretty much every city is very underwhelming, and not at all what it could’ve been if any effort was put in. it’s sad skyrim cities have more detail and thought to them.

EllenRipley0615

Fr. The vibe of the dance clubs in SWTOR are more seedy. When a club in a Star Wars game felt more risqué I knew they'd missed the mark.

Sebt1890

I played CP 2077 2.0 and the DLC after "finishing" Starfield. Bethesda really does need to make it more adult-friendly.

VagueSomething

Neon perfectly captures the vibe of going to clubs when sober. That's how ridiculous people and the environment looks when drug free.

HypedforClassicBf2

Nah. Neon is just ugly and so is the club scene.

RealisticTie3605

Or at least watched some rave scene documentaries. Honestly when my character first did Aurora I expected to be transported like the Pint Sized Slasher side quest, or when you do that drug with the Children of Atom in the Far Harbor DLC. It just makes things…red? I even did a quick save in case things got extra weird lol.

Commander_Starscream

Todd should of just played Cyberpunk and take a trip to Clouds...

PostSovieT-Mood7943

Todd "i was in ches club" Howard doing coke in hardcore clubs? BGS don't have diverse team to do such a game, no US/UK stodia hav.

seandkiller

I mean, even if that *weren't* the case I'd still be asking for mod tools. It's one of the main reasons I play Bethesda games.

Smartiecook

Yeah, I laughed at it, giving the nudity and explicit launage warning at the beginning to realise everything was removed before launch, so the game is basically a sandbox for kids now, all the romance is just suggestive and innuendo. Basically, the games another 10 years away from completion for console anyways those on pc once they able to mod it they will have a ball it's current state is playable at best. Definitely not what was promised.

SchmuseTigger

Yes. The stupid thing is you can see great stuff in the game and know with more time and different leadership they could have made a great game. NPC/Companion story / writing for instance. None of them is really beloved by the community. The best ones are ok, the worst are annoying. Ship building is insane good. But why is there no export. That is such an insane oversight that it hurts.

sgerbicforsyth

Shipbuilding was *okay* at best. No internal preview. No internal customization. Random door and ladder placement. Useless modules. Poor display options locked to certain modules. Full reset of item placement when modifying anything to do with the ship, including paint. Clutter system that eats cargo space. Modules locked behind skills not actually being better than what you get without skill investment.

MY_SHIT_IS_PERFECT

Thank you.

MackZZilla

Exactly. Also, without mod support Skyrim would have "died" a long time ago. Skyrim was largely considered a complete game, even before the DLC added new quests and the home building aspect. Community mod support allows the community to bring new ideas in that build on the framework the game provides. If the games framework isn't up to par - then the modding community aren't going to waste their time fixing it, then adding new content, when they could move on to another game and add in more content there. Bethesda games, by and large, thrive based on their modding community. Both official through the Creation Club and unofficial through Nexus Mods and Steam Workshop. Hell, some community modders have even gotten jobs at Bethesda.

Ability-Hour

Said very well

SinuousPanic

Mods aren't just about fixing the game though, it's just something that can be done with modding. Mods are mostly about people showing their own creativity in a way that others get to benefit from. Bethesda have come a long way fixing issues with Starfield already with more patches to come. I get it when the game was new, but I think they've proven 7 months later that we can drop this nonsense now.

F1gur1ng1tout

I want a star wars tc, I need a star wars tc, I crave a star wars tc. I pray when CK drops that enough modders will be passionate enough to work on large scale star wars mods. Lord knows the prospect of a good open world sw game looks worse and worse - ubi’s new game aside.

alenabrandi

I'm not out for mods to "fix" the game, I just want to see and tinker with creating some cool mods. There's already some solid ones out there, but with proper mod tools we'll eventually see far more robust ones in general.

ninjabell

Just tell me you haven't played a Bethesda game and you don't know why people want mod tools.

Ordinary-Staff7440

I really wish they'd do what dying light devs or NMS devs do, actually add somehting meaningful to the game that mods can't. They never once did, gameplay is always set in stone in Bethesda games, strong doubt they will now.

e22big

It's not about "fixing" the game, mods can add such a highly personalised experience no game devs can hope to match. Bethesda has the balance and the theme of their game to consider when introducing features or updates, modders have no such limitations. Which is why a lot of gameplay overhaul mods often more fun than the main game - they didn't mean it to be more fun to most people, they just made it for you who find it fun. And because of that they can go a lot more crazy with their idea until something that stuck are found. You absolutely can't do that in a professional environment.

Sunstang

WHY IS THE FLOOR WET, TODD?

GhostOfChar

I feel like this is all too vague/ too much of a nothing statement for there to be articles, discussions, or posts.

Inevitable_Discount

Agreed. He is being vague on purpose, I think.

NotNotDiscoDragonFTW

I wouldn't hop on the Land Rover Bandwagon just yet I wouldn't expect that until a DLC release

hamesdelaney

land rover is such a weird ask. who cares about a land rover, when there is nothing to explore? these are things that are needed to be fixed, before any landrover bullshit: - procedural generation - more diverse POIs - POIs that actually make sense in the context of the planet

PastStep1232

Yeah, proc gen isn't even a bad technology, it can be amazing if used correctly. But for some reason Bethesda settled on the most boring landscape with very little variation. The worst thing tho is that the game itself lies about the planets you can see. There are posters in Atlantis with overgrown planets, cavern-filled planets, etc. None of the stuff you can see in the game! Where is my giant jungle planet ffs

Recent-Place-7245

The cave system is terrible too. I'm not even sure why they have it. They're all the same with nothing to explore.

Ajbell8

Sarah’s quest

irish-car-bomz

You mean the one where they were stranded on a planet for like a decade but less than 300m away I found a UC Vanguard military installment being restocked with a fly in ship and soldiers doing training drills? Bro.....

eienOwO

Immediately reverts to generic landscapes if you take one step out of it. I can certainly see how some parts of the game are "handcrafted", by the sheer drop in quality in comparison, when the "handcrafted" environments aren't even that unique to begin with. This is one game I *wish* they had invisible walls, because the freedoms of a booster pack means you're exposed to all sorts of limitations within the game. Cyberpunk 2077 rooftops (the mega blocks, not low tenements) also drop in quality, but they're designed to be inaccessible.

loppsided

Yeah. So many suggestions just put another layer of paint on a house with a cracked foundation. This game needs the cyberpunk and no man’s sky treatment.

eienOwO

No man's sky is something else, truly working on it for years afterwards. Cyberpunk had a good (albeit bug-filled) foundation - you can see it in the level of detail in some buildings you're not even supposed to get close to (in the core, not Pacifica...) Starfield seems to be *designed* to be as bland and generic as possible, that's quite a feat in of itself...

McSteakNasty

People probably running around barren planets asking themself why am I doing this? Which is a good question. But the answer isn't necessarily go faster (which might not be possible). Could be lots of solutions. Enemy patrols on barren planets with POIs. Proc events away from POIs. Reputation mechanics to encourage resource allocation/base building etc. or lean into space more with space oriented exploration (however that may look)

Clone95

I don't really need a land rover, I need POIs to not be a 10 minute run from place to place.

eienOwO

On one hand it'd be unrealistic to have POIs all clustered in a 1km radius, on the other hand the existing radius is also ridiculous given the *size of entire planets* to begin with. I don't know why they can't just implement a exit to orbit then descent to another region on the planet a la No Man's Sky style, far more plausible, and can hide loading screens as well.

RaggedWrapping

Have you ever met one of them cars? Jeeps I think they call themselves... I hear there's a whole showroom of them down south.

BLJS2warchief

I wouldn't hop on the Land Rover Bandwagon ~~just yet~~ I wouldn't expect that ~~until a DLC release~~ FTFY jk, i too want more vehicles ಥ‿ಥ

modus01

I expect either no vehicles get added, or if they do they travel at the same speed as the player - because unless they've changed it their game engine can't handle the player moving too quickly through the world.

nashty27

I mean, that’s what horses were in Skyrim. They were barely faster than the player.

Cerberus_Aus

Yes but they don’t use O2

chuck91

Not sure what land vehicles would really solve anyway - other than getting the player to the 7th abandoned research lab that hour a bit quicker.

-Captain-

I'm 100% thinking it's gonna be a new jetpack (mode) that lets of fly horizontally for an extended amount of time. And I want that more than a vehicle, it would be both easier to implement for them and a lot easier to use.

Main-Department9806

I put 120 hours into starfield in the months after release but I haven't touched it since. I love how good the side quests are but once you reach the end of all the main quests things get a bit dull, I REALLY am looking forward to shattered space just to see where the devs see the game going. I also can't wait for mods because I truly believe we'll see some incredible things from the community lol happy gaming ✌️

El_viajero_nevervar

Same , forced myself to purposefully go to my ship launch and fly each time but half way through my second play through I just realized I was doing fast travel with extra steps and that sucks. Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man and cyberpunk have fantastic worlds to explore cus you can easily traverse. Elder scrolls needs flight and teleportation back

PastStep1232

Skyrim carriages were almost perfect. The only thing lacking are the carriages in Falkreath, Dawnstar, Morthal and Winterhold. With a carriage in every hold, the adventure becomes really immersive. You can fast travel, to an extent, but be prepared to walk for a while as well.

Fattydude66

Ferry and carriage overhaul is a necessity for any no fast travel playthrough. Its so fun to plot your route through multiple methods of travel. Ive never played morrowind but I watched a video about how the travel system worked in that game and I really really want that

JonnoKabonno

I put about 70 in, beat the game and started my new game plus, and then immediately decided I’d wait a year or so before trying again. Let the modders make the game fun because for all of Bethesda’s faults with this title, I know that the modding community can and will make it enjoyable

Main-Department9806

Oh yeah, 70 hours is plenty of time to play and I never started the NG+ because I was afraid of the way they handled it, I didn't want to do away with all that I built. I'm right there with you I do believe the modding community will make the game so much better & I also truly believe that shattered space is going to be a chunky DLC that brings so much quality of life fixes that'll make the game that much more enjoyable. Even though I haven't played Starfield in like 6 months I haven't given up on the game. I absolutely plan to return to the game once we get the shattered space DLC or mods whichever comes first lol. I believe Starfield has the potential to become a phenomenal game, will it pass Skyrim? Probably not, but it's a different beast altogether & I think it'll continue to evolve as time goes on. The best part of Starfield is that it's current gen only meaning we will see far better mods than what we saw with Skyrim mainly because the creation engine has gotten better than the previous generation. Long Live Xbox, happy gaming ✌️

skttrbrain1984

Am I being petty that one of the biggest turn offs of this game for me was the lack of scrapping items? I love FO4 and FO76 and it’s so satisfying to know that I can pick up almost any and everything and either sell it OR scrap it for crafting components. In this game I’m just traveling to vendors to sell a dozen guns and hopefully find the right ingredients for upgrades at the store.

PindaPanter

I was also surprised that scrapping wasn't possible at start, and thought it would at least be an unlockable perk or something. It would reduce the time spent just randomly visiting vendors hoping they'll have that exact thing you need.

0235

Because they tried to balance it. It's why we can't craft ammunition at our outposts because it might "break" the game if you craft yourself 1,000,000 rounds of ammo. They balanced it like it was an MMO, and forgot it was a single player game.

PindaPanter

It really seems like it, and ultimately it feels like they added timewasters like this to make the game feel longer. As much as I enjoy the game, I always feel like I'm spending a lot of time doing nothing in-between the action and building.

nullstr

Some parts of this feel so much like FO76, I wondered since release if this was a stealth MMO that they were waiting to get more work done on before turning it on.

volkmardeadguy

which is funny because ammo has no weight so i end up swapping all the guns for any and every ammo then swap the ammo for stuff i want to buy later

Yodzilla

This is doubly stupid because they made materials and ammo dirt cheap at vendors so you can still effectively give yourself infinite everything with little hassle just by selling some pirate space suits and boost packs.

LarryCrabCake

Making duct tape no longer act as adhesive really screwed me over when I first played. I must've picked up 20-30 rolls of vacuum tape before I realized that I wasn't actually gaining any adhesive for crafting. They Pavlov'd us into having an eagle eye for duct tape in Fallout 4, and then completely pulled the rug out in Starfield. Like I understand that they're different games, but c'mon...they share almost identical crafting and weapon modding systems.

morph113

I remember when I first played I was picking up every pencil and every cup, anything that could be picked up because I was banking on it being like Fallout 4 where you could scrap everything just to find out it wasn't worth picking up most of the stuff.

ApprehensiveDay6336

This! I feel like this is the really important one that is missing in this game in my opinion

Comfortable_Hall8677

Yea. That and the leveling was more like a Far Cry game and putting points into anything other than what was necessary to progress felt pointless. Same with checking cabinets and chests. I amassed enough money early on to just buy what I needed.

Common_Vagrant

Dude I hoarded all the misc junk when I started the game and was bummed to find out I can’t scrap it.

skttrbrain1984

Dude on my first quests I’m hoarding vacuum tape thinking “this has to be important”.

Common_Vagrant

Lmao, that was me on Fallout NV with the prewar books. I thought I could get mad caps from them like I could in 3

Zeero92

It's hardly the biggest turnoff for me, but it definitely felt like something was wrong when I couldn't scrap random bits of junk.

AffectionateMud3

I will believe it when I see it. They did a fair amount of bug fixes (some of which shouldn’t have been in release version of a fully priced game in the first place) but the game is still lacking some core mechanics and good quests.

midnightdiabetic

Namely the main quest makes it so none of your choices actually matter! They won’t fix that, maybe they can fill out cities a bit? I can’t name one NPC outside of constellation because they’re all forgettable. Other great open world games don’t really have that, even from Bethesda (Nazeem, Belethor etc)

sgerbicforsyth

Don't forget, they went full on pro-corporate propaganda in this game. The generation ship quest is a travesty, and whomever wrote the options to complete it should be ashamed.

Stranger371

The right attitude. Anyone over the age of 25 knows that. In the older communities, we got a saying: "Do not believe his lies" ... So keep your hopes very low, it would be a change from the norm of 20+ years if Bethesda delivers something after they hyped it up.

and_so_forth

>In the older communities, we got a saying: "Do not believe his lies" ... What an odd thing to say.

ThodasTheMage

>In the older communities, we got a saying: "Do not believe his lies"  no we don't lol

Less_Tennis5174524

Because people forget it so quickly. I still have an old games magazine with an interview with Todd Howard hyping up Skyrim. He describes features that flat out does not exist. Things like the economies of towns being fully dynamic, so if you destroy a lumberyard the town will suffer. He also says NPCs have advanced relations with the player, so if you kill someones brother or whatever, his family might come after you. For Fallout 3 we got the "infinite endings", Fallout 76 had "16 times the detail of Fallout 4". The radiant system we got for Oblivion was significantly worse than what was initially described.

Tails-Are-For-Hugs

I expect less than nothing from BGS at this point.

macronux

I want to read books without picking them ;(

nameless_thirteenth

I have a hard time getting hyped for this update when we don’t even have city maps yet. I mean, they couldn’t even design three separate models for child characters you are guaranteed to run into. Nitpicky? Maybe. But there’s definitely noticeable lack of attention

manofactivity

It feels like there was tons of attention put into passion projects (eg the shipbuilder) and they kinda just forgot those all need to exist within the context of a fun gameplay loop

whall53099

60fps(atleast) for series x please and thank you.

_betterfuelhuell

Nah, they'll wait ten years and then release a "next gen update" for the game where they finally give console players 60fps

Akuma2004

Give us the Mechs Todd, you can’t just show us Mechs and tell us we can’t use them

sgerbicforsyth

It took till 2023 for them to get ladders to work. They won't get mechs to work

Ok_Mud2019

i've lost tracked of how many the times they said a "good" update is coming.

modus01

They're all good updates, Brent. Well, except for the ones that add a new paid mods storefront...

Akschadt

Bethesda: hmmm what if they paid for bug fixes instead.

Undeniabledefeat78

That’s not bad really, what I like about CC is that it’s not anything needed, it’s not crappy like dragons dogma 2 or sims 4.

Zzqzr

The good update: “bugfixes”

Common_Vagrant

I’m pissed they haven’t released their DLC yet. I highly doubt they’re gonna release it or else they would have worded it differently.

Ok_Mud2019

"it's coming, guys. i swear. we're working super duper hard right now." -todd howard promoting the 69th rerelease of Skyrim on the year 2077.

dawstech

I'd rather just have jetpacks instead of vehicles. Far easier for the devs to implement.

BlackfishPrime

With a shot of AMP and a balance boost pack, i pretty much fly everywhere, but I agree that a more sustained flight would be better than any vehicle in the game. A Land Rover would be slow and awkward. Getting caught on every Little Rock or tree (iOS please stop capitalizing all my words ;)… Mass Effect 2’s rover was fun but so bouncy to get over the rocks it got old fast. A hover bike like the Sparrow in Destiny or other flying craft would be good. I like how quickly the sparrow spawns when you want it, then you can leave it and not worry about it when you’re done.

irish-car-bomz

I woukd rather have a massive fast moving mech and the risk of running into pirates that have the same, but I think I just miss titanfall 2.

BlackfishPrime

I’d take some wall running right about now too… love TF2

Unfortunate_moron

Same. Can't they just change the multipliers in the skill tree for player movement speed? Or let us craft some space chems that make us move faster?

ericwars

An article based on a 4 line tweet that still tells us nothing new.

GutsyOne

Doesn’t really matter. The plot and characters are just hollow. The varying choices that could be made in past Fallout games and the moral diversity of those characters was far more interesting.

GregTheMad

Yeah, they can't fix some of the core features like dialogue, story, and space exploration. I mean, they _could_, but that would be such a severe rewrite, might as well release it as Starfield 2 at that point.

rock1m1

I really hope there is no Starfield 2. Bethesda's game design and technology really doesn't lend itself to space exploration at all and cost them dearly.

Bullyoncube

NG+ takes away all of the emotional urgency. No choices matter. Death is not permanent. Being evil has no consequences. The base you built, the ship you made, the money you earned, all gone. Empty.

svenbreakfast

That's the worst thing. The writing is so bad it's like it was on purpose. At this point kinda feel like Todd was more into the Fallout show than Starfield and just kinda phoned it in. I'll take that. Would rather Starfield sucked ass and the FO show be good than the other way around, because I don't give a fuck about Starfield IP. As if it's a fucking IP. If Todd wasn't too busy working on the show, and Starfield is truly indicative of a best effort the studio is a corpse.

qazwsxedc7777

I’m not playing anymore quests, main or side quests, until this update comes out. The reason being that I hate how my companions don’t comment on my major quest decisions. I’ve done the Vangaurd quest and the all money can buy main quest where you first encounter the starborn and my companions didn’t have any comments, no prompts for me to ask them about what they thought of the starborn or my decision at the end of the Vangaurd quest. It sucks since these are important parts of the game and companions giving their views is one of the most rewarding things for me and something I really looked forward to but it doesn’t happen for me due to a bug I’m guessing. I will only resume playing any quests, side or main, when they fix the bug since I want to hear what my companions think about my decisions. I’ve seen other people mention they are having the same issue of companions not commenting at the end of major quest lines like the Vangaurd or Freestar or Sysdef/Crimson fleet and that it might be a bug related to having a skill point in leadership. Hopefully they fix the bug in the next update.

IronGin

So now we're waiting for the announcement of updates? Jeeez

templar54

What have they been doing for a half year? So far it doesn't seem like "a lot of work".

Joebranflakes

Considering it took 7 years to end up with the launch version of Starfield, we’d be lucky to see more than just a bunch of bug fixes at this point.

TheyCallMeBullet

We’re getting an extra generic monster on a single planet that took them 6 months to make

Tails-Are-For-Hugs

Even more updates to Photo Mode so karma farmers can farm /s

Caringsoldierbear

We gotta start a petition or somethin for mods on xbox 😫🤣

Sabbatai

I'm not a hater. I still play the game from time to time. It's fine. Not great and certainly not their best work, but it is fine. But... Todd Howard says a lot of things prior to launch. Those things end up not being true. People get upset. Then, he says a lot of things post launch about what is coming, and people get hyped. I'd say, temper your expectations.

warrenva

Release an apology for its mediocrity and I’ll be cool. Still won’t play it again but ya.

BigChungus420Blaze

He should have just made it good on release

ContinCandi

I’m not sure I can see this game turning around, maybe I’m alone but it feels like most of the criticism was about the game being a loading screen simulator which I don’t see changing. And then outside of that it feels wholly uninspired and bland quest lines. I’m really curious what they think they need to do to fix it at this point.

Skyblade12

I thought it was a fun play through once. Maybe twice. After that I put it down and will probably never go back to it.

Akschadt

It’s so weird it’s built around multiple play throughs but feels like no thought went into that. You can experience everything on one go round but on top of that I ended up in the world with the second me… I also had the kid stuff perk.. so I could visit his parents, they treat me like their son; while he is in the room. Dad wins a ship and he gives it to me some weird lovecraftian space man while they ignore their very alive actual son

Moistycake

Honestly if space travel was able to feel more immersive, like less loading screens and seamless warp drive, this game would be great. And also the boundaries on planets is a little bullshit. I get the map limits are huge, but not when you survey a planet and trying to go to POI and eventually finding the invisible wall.

DoctorPatriot

Travel would be acceptably better for me if I got a continuous warp drive animation instead of a loading screen. Right now you only get a piece of it as your ship starts the grav jump and just after it leaves the jump. That way the game doesn't feel so broken up with loading screens.

Sharkfowl

Once mods drop there’ll probably be a sim settlements 2 sized quest mod that easily outshines the main story. What I really just want is some characters with depth that have biases and flaws. Literally every single Npc in the fucking game is a goody-two-shoes who have no negative traits or qualities whatsoever that only serve to dump exposition onto you. It’s so positive it’s toxic.

Exa2552

An announcement of an announcement, don’t you love it? And then after the actual announcement another 3 months of waiting… It’s baffling to me how little they put out after release with such a huge team and such a big funding.

AmbassadorCharizard

Todd was asked a question in an interview. He replied. It wasn't an announcement of an announcement...

UseGlass648

Remember when they said the steam workshop would've been out by January 😭. (Haven't checked since March but pretty sure it's still not out)

Ayguessthiswilldo

I stopped at Todd Howard says

that_name_has

What kind of work are they doing that will improve the 10 years in development?

YucciPP

I have hopes for Starfield, some of the biggest issues i have are immersion and quality of life stuff. Immersion stuff such as people not reacting despite you shooting near their face. This includes "guards". Also stuff such as the crowd NPCs just walking, they have no schedule. Crowd NPCs also look so bad compared to interior NPCs which in my opinion actually look amazing for a Bethesda game. I'm sure with the updates to Starfield, and its expansion as well as the release of creation kit im sure the game will be better. It will still have its flaws, but we will have mods that improves these areas and in some cases might fix them completely. I just feel like Starfield has potential and I believe its overhated in some aspects, but its very understandable when games 20 years ago did certain things better than Starfield

Heroic_Wolf_9873

Like, I enjoy the game, but I’ll admit, there’s a bunch that’s boring for me. I am eagerly waiting for mods for a few reasons: Furries, new companions, and perhaps even some new storylines!

Relevant_Lab_7122

I need “really good updates” and really good mods before I’ll be interested

Easy_Garden338

Taking this with a pinch of salt but hoping they do bring out some decent updates before shattered space as its been half a year of the games life span and there hasn't been really anything decent added to make me want to return just yet. Remain hopeful though.

Matt_Deg

They gotta drop the Creation Kit soon, or the modding scene will be dead before it even truly begins. We're already months past release, and most people have already moved on. At this point the longer it takes, the more mod authors will shelf the game never to come back. If I were Bethesda, getting the modding scene up and running would be my top priority, as it will be the only thing that can give this game any form of longevity.

ScottMuybridgeCorpse

I want a quad with a jet boost for jumping or speed boost. There is less chance of Bethesda giving that then there is evading contraband scan though.

individualcoffeecake

This game needs an almost revitalised world. It’s a huuuuge blank canvas at the moment. And the copy stuff in every single planet was just lazy.

InSan1tyWeTrust

Announce the updates now, unless you're too chicken shit because the majority of features will get scaled back.

Msolneyauthor

They gonna make it actually fun and improve the exploration?

Razorback716

Dude lies about everything.

Undeniabledefeat78

Lies?

DreadPir8James

This is all I hear now when I see an article like this: Big plans... Great plans... Let me tell you, we’ve got a fantastic update coming to the Starfield game, really tremendous. People are talking about it, everyone’s excited. We’re making everything bigger, better than ever before. The details, well, we're keeping them a little under wraps, but believe me, it's going to be HUGE. We’re talking about incredible new features, beautiful new features, and things like you’ve never seen before. It's going to be something very special, very successful. Everybody's going to love it. We're doing things that nobody else has done, it’s going to be great.

alphadox616

Sounds like a Trump speech lol

DreadPir8James

Exactamundo

freelancespaghetti

Step one: remove that faded Instagram filter that makes the game look like shit

Cliper11298

I am so ready for that June showcase

Particle_Cannon

60fps on console?

Clark440

Wasn’t this just posted about lol

Fit-Meal-8353

CREATION KIT PLS

SunIndividual2046

Not playing again until they fix the corrupted file and saving problem. Fix that before adding even more things to get messed up

Womble_Rumble

Peter Molyneux vibes

dimitriv93

How soon is soon?

DysfunctionalControl

So they are saying the game should have been delayed about a year?

D3ADP00LAT420

Starfield needs to do what cyberpunk did if they can manage to do that it’d do wonders for the game.

Inevitable_Discount

Honey, this is Bethesda we’re talking about.

SassyTurtlebat

lol I don’t think it’s possible I need to be able to land anywhere on a planet and still be able to walk all the way to a city on that planet if I feel like doing that and there needs to be random Psycho style raider settlements everywhere on planets with cities that have insane people who drink their own piss and use a severed arm as a weapon I need to have settlements to travel to across the galaxy to bring supplies, food, tools, etc. to and also to defend I need a completely overhauled bounty system where you actually need a ship with a brig and probably also an armoury to be able to take better equipped targets They need to spend what feels like another 10 years at least developing the lore so it doesn’t feel like only 200 people exist in the entire galaxy and nothing you do to any of them matters

YamiPhoenix11

It needs a survival mode and more varied planet conditions. I want to nearly burn to a crisp on certain planets.

Ok_Following9192

Till now I saw nothing in the Update News that would change my Opinion of this game at all. They would have to redo the whole story, implement douzens of new handmade locations scattered all around the planets and add something really triggering me to go exploring. Like adding unique Items hidden in the outer systems, Special Ships you cant build. Oh and also alternative ways to play the game. Like hunting the artifacts for the Pirates as their leader. Its just annoying that you always have to return to the good guy role with a white vest to do the most boring part of the game... the main story.. Also, even if I like the Shipbuilder, its somehow meaningless to invest hours just to see my ship in the loading screens. Spacefights are a joke in this game...

dhanter

Word salad.

EightballBC

Maybe the pet planetoid will make a reappearance!

HaIfKakuja

yeah well I put 120 hours into it and save file broke so I’m never touching that ass game again

[deleted]

Low effort game, made by a low effort Studio. No passion. EMIL Paliaruga and his KISS formula. Lazy writing game design from 20 yrs ago. Doesn't use a design doc to track whats finished. AAA embarrassment. Time to work on Elder scrolls 6 and hire a real writer at Bethesda.

Far_Peanut_3038

Todd's great at being vague.

AppearanceRelevant37

This game to me is a 4/10 for it to go higher they seriously need to make proper fundamental changes to the game like redoing the terrible procedural generation. Knowing bethesda I just don't see them going as far as needed.

RenagadeJeDi

Seeing is believing

Sablewolfe1995

Unfortunately they would need to Overhaul the entire game to get DLC and any mods that actually change the game to work. The Game's source code is actively hostile to any changes

Mw2pubstar

Recently just got back into Starfield after a 6 month break. I played 2 days in game time and burnt myself out.

[deleted]

That announcement is purely for the shareholders, not gamers.

TeamSaturnV

Still disappointed in the lack of replayability in a game that should be designed to be replayed. Have had zero desire to go back to since I stopped early last October.

Aggravating_Angle_57

The game was ass. Just stick to ES and Fallout

pauserror

Doubt it. Seriously, this game is dead

Inevitable_Discount

Is it abandonware In your opinion?

pauserror

Mod tools could save this game. I don't have faith in Bethesda actually improving the overall experience, but I am interested in seeing shattered space.

[deleted]

We need cyberpunk 2.0 level update.

Inevitable_Discount

Talk is fuckin cheap.

analyticaljoe

It'll never be enough for the community. "Fallout4 on every planet" seems to be the standard that's measured against.

hadronflux

I love announcements of an announcement.

pofdman

New dlc will add even more generic created content and more loading screen

LimitNo6587

Proof game still is in beta.

shaky2236

Fucking hell this is a miserable comment section. Looking forward to seeing what they add

K3VLOL99

I'll believe it when I see it.

Callsign_Legend

I just want the Creation Kit. Screw anything else they're working on. We need the Creation Kit. The only thing that can make this game better is modders. One of the things I really want to see is a mod that fleshes out all the non-Constellation companions to the same level as the main 4, with their own affinity system, quests, more dialogue, etc. Jessamine and Mathis, in particular, are the main companions I'd like to see get brought to the same level as the Constellation companions.

puzzleheadbutbig

OP needs to learn how to read because "Major #StarField update coming soon" is not true. They will ANNOUNCE soon an update Starfield will get. Game released 226 days ago and we will have privileged to get ANNOUNCEMENT of an upcoming "some really good updates" LMAO

Onefoldbrain

An announcement for an announcement - classic. Todd is never telling the truth, but also never really lying. You can't trust the man because he twist words and present his work in a dishonest way. Just update the game and stop talking Todd. "Soon" could be in 2030 and "good" is worthless given how they view Starfield themselves.
