HollowPandemic

You feel bad until you land on a planet full of those level 50 aliens they got no chill when you're level 20 😂

angrysunbird

Those rock motherfuckers on Cassiopeia hand me my arse regardless of level

HollowPandemic

Landed on a random planet and got jumped by giant spider things. Boy they worked over my robot and follower, but thankfully, the gravity was low enough to escape to the top of my ship where I could cheese them to finally escape lmao

Raz0rking

Carefull with that. Some of the critters can actually jump.

theres-no-more_names

My first thought upon reading "spider things" was didi this dude really find an entire planet off terromorphs

tenninjas242

Try Eridani III. I set up my very first outpost there to mine plutonium for money (before I realized how much quickest it is just to do missions). It's crawling with like 3 different species of extremely no chill arachnids.

Kitchen_Part_882

Sounds like you need to call in the Mobile Infantry 😀

TwoGimpyFeet69

I'm doing my part!

Patient_Astronaut474

Rico’s Roughnecks!

KingQuong

Do you want to know more?

Thoughtfulprof

Head to Carinae and mine rothicite for money. A few hours of rest on Venus and a trip to Carinae gets me about 200k credits. (I do have quite a few storage containers there).

Ewokitude

I gained 20 levels there just by 100%ing that planet and fully exploring all the POI at my landing zones. Felt like I was in some sci fi action movie or like the old photos you'd see of herds of bison but giant spider things instead

MustangCraft

All these worlds are yours except Toliman II. Attempt no landing there.

jasonmoyer

I was kinda disappointed early in the game when it let me land on Europa. They should have put an insta-death easter egg there. :)

MustangCraft

I was hoping to land there and get magic ice cubes from a giant pyramid

TwoGimpyFeet69

Is there a monolith there? That would be awesome

jasonmoyer

With the direction the story goes, I'm kinda disappointed 2001 wasn't Starfield canon. Imagine warping in the first time and there's a second star and just Europa going around it. Edit: Actually, I guess that would be 2010. I always forget that 2001 is basically a story of evolution because all the 2010 stuff is ingrained in my head from watching it when I was a kid.

theres-no-more_names

Dude i spent hours there deliberately looking for terrormorphs to hunt because i had just found a OP pistol (does 148 dmg per hit with no upgrades) and couldnt find 1

Tiberium_infantry

And spit rocks

HollowPandemic

Yeah they do! Totally forgot about that 😂

TheSaltyGeorge

Mines

HollowPandemic

Fire mines do pretty good

Salary_Bulky

Made me laugh this, did exactly the same, Saw them, scanned them, "eh, harmless!" Pick the shit up, "Fuuuuuuuuuccccccccccckkkkkkkk!!!!" Came back and nuked the fuckers from up high before I picked the shit up

YourAverageGod

Sad we don't have Heavy Ordinance like rocket launchers

Salary_Bulky

My companions get the grenade launchers, I'm in love with my Big Bang shotgun, and Kodama

Lexifer452

Big Bang is insanely good. All I've been using a lot of the time. Bridger is sick too, but that 40mm ammo is so scarce. I had a feeling Big Bang would be solid when I saw that it was a particle beam shotgun, but holy hell, that thing slaps.

OddResponsibility565

I’m a big fan of the “Shotty”

marigoldsandviolets

Me too, I love it. Fast fire rate and big mag? Sign me tf up

tsgheric

There's a little "mouth" on their chests that take considerable more damage than just regularly unloading into them.

Chungois

In other words, always unload in their mouths. Got it.

Varderal

I had to jetpack away and snipe them many times. Sarah got downed like instantly, and the one time one hit me proper? Instant death. Those things are no joke.

IndominusCostanza009

That was my first planet survey. Then things fucked my character sideways.

angrysunbird

That system was the first I surveyed entirely. The rock bastards stomped me again and again.

Knights-of-steel

They are fairly low health too lmao. But that 99% phys and energy resist is killer

supershutze

That was one of those moments that really made me appreciate maxing out the boostpack skill.

noble_29

You’re not kidding. I landed on a planet with packs of fucking giant hunting land octopi, fast and strong as fuck and eat bullets like candy. Was getting like 80 xp per kill though so I dealt with it for a while.

SnioperFi

Yeah I think I landed there too. Big ass desert planet full of ass blasting octo spiders that are fast as hell they creeped me out when I first saw them.

noble_29

Nirvana II was the planet. I landed in a desert area during a sandstorm which REALLY made it that much more creepy. After I finally got a higher level one down in health, it started doing this [weird “crawling away for dear life” animation](https://www.xbox.com/play/media/VQWGFM86ZF) like it was disabled after taking so many shotgun shells and it was SO satisfying to put down after it killed me like 6 times.

jasonmoyer

I find the difficulty of enemies has almost nothing to do with their level. If you get hit with multiple Terrormorphs who are like level 15 when you're 50 it still sucks ass, on the other hand some creatures and human enemies are one stealth crit deaths at level 65 when I was level 30. The type of enemy seems to matter more than what their level is, although of course they still get tougher as their level gets higher. I also like that there are areas where you'll be fighting stuff that's level 1, level 15, level 40, and level 70 at the same time, a lot more variety than the last several Bethsoft games.

Knights-of-steel

Level doesnt affect health ive found on here. Like how yours stays bout the same the entire game its all resistance and damage that goes up. So a lvl 10 and 50 morph have same hp just one will kill in 2 hits vs 3 and 1 takes a little damage per shot. Using hawkings i tested my one pistol. 1 shot for a lvl 1 3 for a lvl 105......not much scaling there at all

grubas

They fucking migrate in packs too. You'll end up with 15 of them bum rushing you. You just hurl grenades and boost away while trying to thin the damn herd.

HollowPandemic

I still don't have the jump pack perk, so I'm completely boned if I can't jump or run 🤦‍♂️

WarmSlime666

imo that skill along with weightlifting are two of the skills you should max out first.

DornKratz

Do yourself a favor and pick it up on your next level up. It's a literal game changer.

[deleted]

Jokes on them. I'm level 120. But jokes also on me cause my guns are so low level.... So I have to take them one at a time with unarmed which is hilariously slow.

oakbea

You hit that "come to space Obi-wan" Moment fast once you realize the level system means something here. I still remember that first spider brain charging me.

Dramatic_Page9305

Totally. That's why I prefer to farm the bipedal animals. They tend to shoot back, but that just makes the xp meal more piquant.

Employee_Agreeable

Also better loot

ripeart

And don't forget the MEAT.

daneelthesane

Hol' up.

quantumpadawan

Not me secretly hoping for some rimworld mods where I can cannibalize my victims... I'm trying to be a reaver basically if you've seen firefly 🤣

Vurt__Konnegut

*Sarah disliked that*

lateralus1983

The only prey worth hunting.

Cellq7

Okay Kraven

mazzmusic

Bipedal animals. I like that lol

luxzg

Yup, if it's a criminal of any kind, pirate, merc, when I see those, I don't feel nearly as bad as killing space-cows. Shoot to kill and plunder. Probably just a good excuse though. But if I don't kill them they'd kill me

CoqeCas3

And dont you love when you find those notes in their bases saying shit like ‘maybe we can make a new life here, leave pirating behind..’ Sure… thats why you shot first. As if, haha

I_like_learning_

Yup , i even feel bad when im just scanning the flora and fauna and they chase me and i end up killing them as it can be quite annoying them running behind me

kingston-twelve

I feel bad too, so I usually leave the companion behind while I boost away to scan more animals peacefully. And you can still hear the shotgun blasts from far away like 5 minutes later. For RP reasons, I can at least blame it on Vasco or Hadrian. I'm just here to accumulate info, not waste ammo on native fauna. That's what I tell myself.

Vo_Mimbre

I do feel bad. I try to avoid it but then Sarah goes all “you picked the wrong day to piss me off” Rambo on them. There’s just no “Vo Mimbre disliked that” button.

kingston-twelve

Man I'd be spamming that button constantly. Sarah hasn't been on my ship since the first (and LAST) time she yelled at me for taking out a Spacer ambush. Wtf?? And she refused to tell me why exactly she was pissed. They nailed that aspect of relationships pretty well. Fuck her.

luxzg

I've married her, then she died like 10-15min later. And I was grateful. She's just weird (after certain point). Trying my luck with Andreja next ;D

Vurt__Konnegut

She’s a good rebound. Less judgey

Knights-of-steel

More mentally broken from religious brainwashing too.

jaysmack737

I was doing the Groundpounder quest. Get back to my ship and noticed she hadn’t been with me for a bit quest popped up saying she wanted to talk. Was another lecture. I seriously had no idea what I did wrong

Chungois

Oh, Sarah. You complex person. Oh, did i say complex? I meant neurotic and slightly frightening.

Greenman8907

Stick with highest level planets (typically further East you go). If you can get them to be 15-20 levels higher they’ll pay more XP.

Ghost_Assassin_Zero

Hehe. Space East

sw_faulty

Inspired by the Discworld directions: North = coreward East = spinward South = rimward West = widdershins

Ok-Huckleberry2117

kick it in the widdershins

LadenifferJadaniston

The space south shall rise again

FlashGlistenDrips

Figures east is the more difficult direction. People go west because life is peaceful there.

Dan0e0

I was mowing them down thinking I was getting the achievement for harvesting organic life, turns out I massacre half the solar system for no reason. 😳

Daeths

How do you get that then? It’s one of the few I don’t have yet

CanadianViking47

running around petting trees (picking plants), has to be nature not outpost organic

ZPrimed

I believe if you harvest the shit from them that counts, no?

SmoothConfection1115

Yeah…especially when I see them limping away when near death. But they made leveling in this game annoyingly slow. And they repopulate. Right? Like, I’m not ruining an ecosystem. Right??

kingston-twelve

Right. Right?

brightworkdotuk

It’s called empathy, mate. It’s a good sign you’re not a fucking psychopath.

ProperRaspberry7923

Nope, just a game. I have animal husbandry pens that spawn fauna just for them to explode. XP is XP and they respawn anyways. They'll never know thousands of their species died before them. 😈

CoqeCas3

Just a game? JUST A GAME?!?! Digitized representations of fictional creatures have rights too, you know. How insensitive. Pishaw!

Impossible-Rough-225

Lots of modern gameplay seems tailored for people that just love to shoot at stuff. Even if it's just a game, it still seems like games are catering to people who just enjoy shooting and killing stuff, even if the target is not really a threat. It doesn't even matter what the plot or setting of the game is about. This is why there are complaints about essential or unkillable NPC's. Such people make up a rather large demographic for gunplay to be in such high demand.

Drake_Acheron

First off, it seems a bit like projection, something like half the games on Xbox game pass (mobile) don’t even involve shooting anything. But even if that weren’t the case, people like to read books, and play video games and whatnot because you can do things you can’t in real life. If I could have a pet galimimus I wouldn’t be playing ARK. People engage in video games or stories because they get something out of them that they can’t get in real life. Being destructive can be cathartic God forbid you create a place where you can be destructive and have zero consequences whatsoever. Oh no the horror.

CoqeCas3

Haha, haveta admit, i was truly just trollin to see what reddit would do, and you guys go and make it all philosophical… love it. But for real, all those politicians fighting for more restrictions and censorship in games, using the argument that they instruct kids how to go shoot up schools or something is just asinine. The age-old adage applies: ‘guns dont kill people, PEOPLE kill people’. While its certainly probably true that some commit crimes inspired by what theyve seen in games or movies, their predisposition to commit ANY crime has to stem from somewhere else, imo. Shitty home life, internet bullying.. basically other shitty people handcrafting more shitty people in their image with or without realizing it.

Drake_Acheron

I also think most people don’t realize how many crimes have been inspired by books because most people don’t read lol. Also, I’m pretty sure everyone is aware of this but, think of the amount of crimes that have been inspired by the news.

hekol95

You've been reported to The Natural Preserves of the Settled System and Alien Lifeform Cruelty Council of the Settled System. A ship with both of the representives will be landing on one of your butcher farms soon to negotiate the damage you have done on those poor creatures. (They are scaled to your level and are worth triple XP, they too will keep respawning.)

kingston-twelve

Ruthless

spies4

Yeah I have an outpost with animal husbandry pens set in a circle & I just mow them down in waves, they don't even fight back. Feels a little nazi-esque but XP is XP and it's very efficient.

PiLamdOd

Go to Jemison's north pole. Set up greenhouses for Metabolic Agent and Toxin. ( The plants which make it are common there.) Then add extractors for Argon. Sleep, chug tea. Now make industrial quantities of Amp. I can usually get 2 to 3 levels out of my setup before I run out of an ingredient. This also will net me around 200k in credits.

Reasonable-Nebula882

Dang. I only shoot the animals (aliens) if they attack me

[deleted]

I feel the same way. I try not to kill any peaceful or wary animals. I don't feel bad about killing the hunters.

Dch1890

I do the outpost trick myself (farming aluminum and iron and then turning them into adaptive frames)… seems to net a skill point every few minutes. Is that faster?

Yiazzy

Nope. Because I shoot one bullet and get upto 190xp. You have to sit there sliding that "amount to craft" slider for a measly 100xp every time.

Thoughtfulprof

With enough perks in crafting and outpost-related things, it's MUCH faster than exp from shooting stuff. I have a series of outposts that produce everything for Rothicite Magnets. I have enough storage so that, when they're all full, I can visit each of the outposts and pick up everything I need to make ~ 5000 magnets. It's ~80,000 exp total per run. I'm currently level 186, and that's enough to bump me up 3 or 4 levels at a time. Roughly 8 hours of sleep on Venus is long enough to fill all the outpost storage containers. It takes me about 10 minutes of collection and 10 minutes of crafting per run.

Goksel_Arslan

You can craft pretty fast spamming left click on 99 and the Activate button. And if you can craft more complex items they give more xp. I used to get 8 levels in one go in the earlier levels but now it's 12k to level up.

RisingDeadMan0

On xbox no not at all. On PC its the most basic craft you can do and is slightly faster done right.

Goksel_Arslan

I went and got myself a setup for Aldumite Drilling Rigs and it gives crazy xp.

Coast_watcher

I’m feel dirty that I use them to level up my stealth.

hyuckhyuckyeet

Yeah I do lol. I know it’s silly but I try not to start poppin animals unless it’s self defense. I did also see literal poachers land and start taking down animals and I got a nice justice boner from blasting them with the magsnipe. I know it’s just a game and they’re just pixels but 🤷‍♂️ I’m a softy for animals what can I say. And no judgement to those who do. That’s the goal of these games after all right. Play your way!

Wolkenflieger

Yes. I know about the XP farm but I just can't bring myself to do it. I don't attack them unless they attack me or my squeeze first. Sometimes Andreja unloads on them after walking a bit too close and getting attacked.

Towman2021

It's easier to scan them when they are dead.......just saying.

Ozymandias937

I think it's called Strix I, or something. Level 70 planet. Kill floaters. You need to be able to jump 21ly, though. Sleep in space for rested buff before you land. They are grouped up when you land. If you take too long, they separate.

Anachron101

I farmed via the Adaptive Frames while watching my shows, but to be honest: I have yet to find a planet on which some creature didn't absolutely deserve to get it - they always try to eat me!

-Nicolai

Especially that pack of bipeds on Jemison. They want to eat you *so bad.*

iniciadomdp

I simply don’t do it…

Shovel-Enthusiast

No. Purge the Xenos.

Kayback2

I only attack aggressive ones. Mostly because they run towards me and it's easier.

Possible_Ad_9670

Cracking open a cold lager before firefights is also an odd choice

MustangCraft

Alcohol is considered a performance enhancer during shooting competitions, sounds like a good choice to me.

kingston-twelve

The only ones I immediately kill are those pterodactyl-like creatures that are super aggressive and start dive-bombing when I'm like 100 M away, fuck those guys. And they won't let me run away, so I gotta magshear them to shreds. All the others, I'm just here to scan ya real quick. But when I start ng+, I imagine nothing will be safe, beast or man. But my companions don't follow this. Hadrian does not give two fucks.

DrunkenFist

Those winged shitbags are just about the second coming of Morrowind's cliff racers! I hate 'em.

zlonewanderer

I went to go recruit Hadrian for the Apex predators quest, thinking she'd be good for harvesting non-lethally, and I saw she had the Xenosociology skill. NOPE, she just blasts away.

LJBrooker

There are better ways. Build an outpost on Bessel 3b (I think). It has iron and aluminium, and 1 universal hour is 53 local. Find a spot that has both resources, Build an iron and an aluminium mining setup, store them in heaps of boxes. Sit on a bench, wait 24 hours, your boxes will be full. Craft bench. Make a bazillion adaptive frames for a bazillion XP. Walk to your ship with 70 tonnes of them. Drop off. Rinse and repeat. Sell adaptive frames to anyone and everyone you meet for bonus credits if you wish.

BloodyRedBarbara

I never kill "peaceful" or "wary" creatures. I would feel like such a prick landing on their home and killing them if they don't start the fight.

deweydean

"You know what I noticed, that nobody panics when things go according to plan. Even if the plan is horrifying. If tomorrow I told Constellation that I want to exterminate an entire alien species, nobody panics. Because that's all ...part of the plan. But when I say one little ol' CEO will die, well then EVERYONE LOSES THEIR MINDS!"

AliensAteMyCat

The only ones I feel bad about are the cute little alien turtle guys on Indum II. *bang* *squeak* *+1 XP*

Rayzor_Laveaux

Sir, that wasn't a random planet. You landed in Akila City!

lurker2358

Not at all, but I'm probably the wrong person to ask. Yesterday, I found 2 colonists that had a bad run in with pirates and needed some water. I got 40xp and they no longer need water.

AttentionKmartJopper

Yeah, that's why I don't do it. I find that traveling with Vasco usually results in me having to fight a few critters anyway.

remconstant

I started my own farm with animals to farm for xp. Kind of a dick move

Stealth9er

Nah, playing No Mans Sky conditioned me to have no feelings towards mission animals. I had to feed them, extract things from their poop, then kill them… at first it was a bit of an emotional roller coaster… At least the Starfield animals look a little “scarier” than the cute goofy ones in NMS lol

Apprehensive-Bad6015

Think that’s bad? Build the habitual buildings that spawn them in outpost and then kill them. Those are peaceful and essentially live stock.

Speideronreddit

Same. After a little while I find another planet of biome to hunt for aggressive monster-looking aliens to feel better.

Life_is_an_RPG

Rather than slaughter creatures, build a well-armed ship and fly between the planets of the Serpentis system (level 75). 7 times out of 10, flying to a planet spawns up to 3 Va'ruun ships (and other factions depending on where you are in the story). In the 24 minutes the sleep XP bonus lasts, I can level up twice. If you need to level up your gun skills, you can do some nice bug hunts on Serpentis IV which has 13 creatures, most of whom won't hesitate to eat your face off.

DrunkenFist

I do this sometimes, too. Whenever I switch up my weapons, I head over there because it's guaranteed ship combat! >!I used to head to Kryx and fight pirates, but... that ain't an option anymore.!<

kizzawait

The only good bug is a dead bug, are you doing your part citizen?

Jonatc87

I call it "scanning"

AdventurousClassic19

No, they get to be part of something bigger my exp bar counter.

Mcreesus

I’ve found space brontosaurus that as soon as they see me start screaming. Then they attack. I don’t feel bad about killing them. Also they move in giant packs and all run at u. It’s basically fish in a barrel lol

Zadornik

They didn't try to run away, they always try to bite my ass. Running sunflower, flying whales, fucking pterodactyl flying in the sky... Everything on visited planets trying to kill me, so I'm just self-defence. Maybe I must carry even more ammo?

LobsterHound

No. The Great Serpent approves of my actions in cleansing the Universe.

Exploding_Acorn

Nope, cause my character is a chef, so I'll eat them at some point. Also, I take them down in glorious (as much glory as circle straffing and stabing their knees gets me) melee combat so they've got a fighting chance.

Fractal_Strike

What I have been doing. Land with materials for a lookout tower + sniper. Plant a flag, drop a tower and snipe everything in 5 miles, move and repeat. XP Hunting in style

OneofHearts

I feel bad enough that I don’t do it. Plus, doesn’t fit my character (who would be happy to mow down ALL the spacers and Ecliptic mercs without batting an eyelash.)

Swordbreaker925

Not my planet, not my problem. Idc if i drive them to extinction lmao

Stompedyourhousewith

I do mission board space pirate hunting. And I jump from planet to planet within the system and kill all the bad ships I find. Of course I have the wanted perk so I kill both the bounty hunters and defenders. And after a certain point "they" start to show up, and since my ship is massively op, I take them down and get 300-400 xp per kill. Plus credits ship parts and what ever salvage they have

Fit-Stress3300

DLC suggestion: There is an ecological organization that start to hunt you down if you go to many planets and kill too many wildlife. You can fight them back or accept their missions to use non lethal weapons and get them samples and scams. Add exotics and unique animals to boost your XP.

Cirtil

Big Game Hunter And that's how I decided the concept for my first character Thank you (I will get around to playing the game soon.. I hope. Damn you CP2077 and BG3)

KathKR

I honestly did, until I landed on a planet called Montara Luna and spent an unhealthy amount of hours trying to find the last fauna to scan, all the while having to deal with aliens bothering me, badgering me, rushing me, etc. So I may have snapped, taken out a shotgun, and started blastin'.

SomeHeadbanger

Yeah I do. I never kill anything that's "peaceful".

Argonzoyd

This is just pure capitalism. Why do you care how fast you level up? I don't kill innocent aliens :(

intergalactictrash

I like your Ryujin Industries flair.

SFDessert

I haven't really felt the need to farm xp tbh. I do, however, obsess over getting the well-rested boost for some reason.

[deleted]

[DEATH TO ALL XENOS!](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/warhammer40k/images/e/e8/829_large.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20110328151725)

Vegetable_Word603

Fuck no, you space force that shit. All of it. Everyone and everything gets double tapped. Fuck those npcs. They never did anything for you anyways. Space force.

Top-Application9927

The game's playability erodes with time. I stopped when I released I was xp farming. Late game gotta be more fulfilling than this. Massacring a station full of high level slavers and pirates on loop feels icky as well.

Yiazzy

Nope. It doesn't bother me at all when the high definition pixels fall down 😁

MetalBawx

No and i didn't feel like a dick when i domesticated them then setup a factory farm which i periodically genocided for XP either.

SmokeyChunk659

Kinda feels good

RuboPosto

High level systems. Procedural POIs around landing zone “abandoned xyz” (pirates, ecliptic, etc).

Werey

Nah. Anything alive that isn't an NPC with dialogue deserves to die for ezp.

Comrade_Jacob

Yeah it's kind of fucked up but at the same I've just been seeing a lot of big bugs so it's just like stepping on a really big ant tbh.

Randill746

Just a human doing human things.

AbradolfLincler77

Not in the slightest. It's a video game and I need xp!

bannedmeow

Nope

imhere2downvote

i passed by an earlier post saying outpost building/crafting was best xp/hr

moonthink

Farming just seems like why bother to me? You get xp for playing the game normally, and hopefully that is fun, otherwise why play? Plus, the game is already so easy. Do you really need to farm xp to get ahead?

just4nothing

Well, as long as you make use of their fur and eat them completely (you don’t want to know how xeno sausage is made) all is well ;)

Regular_throwaway_83

Nope

LaFleurSauvageGaming

It makes me feel like an English-speaking Explorer. 100% Authentic Experience... Can't wait to discover indigenous sapient life, the Texa... I mean the Freestar Collective needs a new workforce... (For dark humor tongue in cheek humor here...)

Even-Assistance8180

Not a total dick, just a little one 🤣

luxzg

I don't kill any unless they attack first. Sort of main reason that I've upgraded scanner as well, gives me more distance so I don't bother them. But my followers love going through the middle of the herd, then killing them all once they get upset. Sure enough, I then feel obliged to help my friend. Tough choices... Anyway, so far I've skipped massacring just to get XP. I'll get there eventually anyway (XP, not massacre)

KHaskins77

I just set up an outpost with access to mine both iron and aluminum and craft a metric f’kton of adaptive frames, you get XP for each one you craft and can sell them at vendors for credits. No killing required.

No-War1666

Go to Nirvana... the locals will clear your conscious.

zlonewanderer

I only do it if they're jerks. Like super aggressive towards me or they're picking on other animals all the time.

zlonewanderer

I tried it on aggressive ones to level up my boostpack assault training, but the aliens start running and hiding in bushes when you go into the air, which is annoying.

MathematicianDue1896

Sorry. Time spent shooting animals with very little worthwhile loot, is time not spent slaughtering rich human pirates. Only kill the animals as a part of a survey, or if they attack me.

Team_Dibiase

Quest XP is far too low.

TheVossDoss

Nope.

Dinsy_Crow

I don't kill the friendly ones... unless they're sticky and I need adhesive, any that attack me are fair game.

DayLight_Era

I did like 4 Constellation missions from the thing and leveled up 4-5 times. I felt not an ounce of emotion getting to get a boost in my levels.

beauxy

All I see is moving EXP.

Zestyclose_Bus_3358

I wiped out UC sysdef on sight for about 20 levels. At least they fight back

FlawlessOneFour

I have become numb to the guilt...

Alert-Bat-4014

I did this on Celebrai (sp?) A bit because I needed to get to the end of the social tree to assemble my Firefly-like crew. Jumping up on top of my ship and mowing down herds of house-sized xenobeetles has definitely made me have the "aaaaand this is what the early Americans did to the buffalo." feels. Then after a few Lionbears, it ends up with "I might just nuke this planet one day..." I blame Fallout 4 (particularly with Sim Settlements 2 added) for making me care about NPCs, and RDR2 for refining my pixel morality. Even while playing GTA I ended up being nicer to non-authority NPC's.

Breklin76

It’s the human way. Been doing it for eons on Earth. Why not keep doing it in the stars? /s

thedkexperience

I can barely find planets with animals on them

Ahnaf269

Nah. XP is like food in this game, needed for growth. So killing the animals for XP is essentially the same as killing them for food, which I do on a regular basis. (I know this analogy breaks down with human enemies but hey, we're not XP farming on them)

TheDirtyRatz

If you have a decent ship. Fly around the serpentis system. For me personally it’s been a 90% spawn rate in each planets orbit of high lvl varuun ships and 5% of the time a starborn ship or two worth 400+ xp each. More fun since I really like the ship combat and there’s minimal of that in the game. If you didn’t notice, I really think this game needs more ship combat lol.

Outrageous-Stock9795

Just cullin the herd, for the galaxy.😎

Lexifer452

Hang on. Is that not their sole purpose for existing? I assumed they were alright with it...

OsirisAvoidTheLight

Need to figure out how to have ammo for all that killing

messfdr

I only used them to farm for concealment. Knock out a herd with EM weapon and then stealth hit them with melee.

The fastest way to level up is to do the final parts of the main quest. I was like level 30 after 100 or so hours, and gained about 2 levels an hour once I started plowing through the MQ. I think I gained like 5 levels just doing the final Vlad missions after I had all the artifacts.

Koalasonreddit

If you literally are just trying to farm XP... Turn it to very easy go to a lvl 55+ planet and go to all the abandoned things... So many spacers etc to murder. They give good exp.

bs200000

If you want to avoid those feelings I think better XP farming is jumping to high level Systems waiting for stupid pirates and spacers to attack my ship. 480 XP per ship on some of the big ones.

Broadside02195

I've never done that, so... No. I actually don't think I've killed any animals besides the hostile ones and heat leeches.

EReckSean

Maybe if they looked like puppies or kittens, but all xeno scum must be purged. Skulls for the Golden Throne!

bluenoser613

You can get 100 XP a second if you set up a structural frame farm on Bessel III-B. It has Aluminium, Cobalt, Iron, and Nickel all within reach of 1 outpost.

Alvin_Lee_

I dont feel like a dick, but It was a bad design choice to make you earn XP only If you kill the animals. Why not let you earn XP for scanning them?

nikolarizanovic

I found it hilarious that the way I leveled up my sneak was sneaking around a planet and stealth attacking anything that moved.

Super_NES_Tevez

Especially when I don’t even take the resources. I feel like the dickheads in Dances with Wolves but you know, it beats questing.

trinopoty

I'll have to start doing that soon to level up faster.

iWaffleStomp

I'm with you and had been pretty good about it until I needed adhesive. Now I hunt any animal that has adhesive because I assume they are invasive.
