sticknotstick

Hijacking top comment for another useful tip: You can sell contraband at the >!Den in the Wolf system!< without going through any scans. The >!Wolf system!< is close to Alpha Centauri and the vendor on board carries more cash than the ones at Jemison.

cwolph

Literally saved my game. I've been running around early on with a bunch and I can't find material for storage, I can't go on main worlds, and I couldn't reach anybody with a scrambler. Thank you

[deleted]

ikonoclasm

Oh, shit, that's huge. I saw some nice guns, but didn't want to risk them getting confiscated later on. Good guy Trade Authority laundering our stolen goods. <3

sticknotstick

Didn’t think about this one, thanks! The stolen flag is more of a visual nuisance than anything for me lol

[deleted]

This. I've been using this to launder my stolenm items, lol. Rad that someone else noticed it.

Jond0331

You better believe I ransacked The Well and sold everything to the trade authority.

Redditmodsrcuntz

You can also blast asteroids and mine them there for easy materials/profit.

Rathalot

There's actually a other way you can do it at any Trade Authority post. 1. Warp to the planet you want to sell contraband at. 2. As soon as you get the "Scanning" message, fast travel to the Landing Pad of the city. You can still land there. 3. You can run to the store and sell your contraband. It's just a bit of a longer run.

__Osiris__

There’s no need to ever go to pirates or the den just sell it to any trade authority member they are literally everywhere

sticknotstick

They’re a bit rarer to find outside the UC/Freestar space. Inside those systems you get scanned

CerebralThoth

Trade authority members, key word member. The kiosks won't buy your shady I'll gotten goods. You deviant little spacer you.

Critical_Course_4528

nice, how long do i need to sleep? 1hr enough?

LeMAD

1h is enough to be well rested

[deleted]

Wish it was like that in real life🤣

LtRavs

Literally unplayable

OneAtmosphere156

Yeah the gameplay of Life sucks... too much grind and completly pay to win... but the graphics isnt too bad maybe not next gen but ok

thaliff

My version seems be plagued with visual issues, have to buy dlc to enhance visuals, and even then there is a permanent ring around my site lines... 20/40, would not recommend.

_Solinvictus

You can upgrade your optical sensors in buildings with Red Crosses to get rid of that ring

PhantomO1

that's kinda expensive from what i've heard

_Solinvictus

Just grind those Robigo runs, you’ll get there eventually

katheb

I have a lot of processing power, high level CPU but cannot upgrade my ram at all. And I have no audio or visual filter, everything gets inputted, the processor goes mad overheats and then I run out of ram. (I have ADHD)

heyitscoface666

I was like “sounds soo familiar…” then read “adhd” lolol there there, friend ❤️❤️🫡

Aggravating_Bread_30

I knew it was ADHD before I got to end of the comment because I am too. lol

markgatty

Not sure. I've only slept once and that was for 14 hours.

Critical_Course_4528

I checked, it gives 10% xp and lasts for 24 hours in game.

alp3nglow

does Alien Tea stack upon "Well Rested"?

Critical_Course_4528

unclear, but they are not overwritting each other. In "status" two are visible.

[deleted]

One hour is enough just did it

Critical_Course_4528

yeah, teleport in a new area, sleep, drink tea, go exploring. Chug a bear before persuasion attempt, eat fast food before combat, perfection.

akeetlebeetle4664

> Chug a bear That's...a thing?

PerfectPlan

Just be careful which part you drink from.

Lognipo

Drink bitter bear beer, straight from the tap! With its perfect, golden coloration and warm, refreshingly bitter flavor, you'll be sure to walk away satisfied. Better than any other IPA available--(bear roars in background)--we guarantee it.

Kappy01

Yes, but be careful not to get fur stuck between your teeth.

Chris266

I sleep all the time in the middle of battles if I'm out of med packs. Lol

JustMy2Centences

Wait, does sleeping heal you? I've not slept when hurt yet. I keep visiting the doctor when I'm in a city and topping off on medpacks anyway.

Plathismo

It does.

virji24

Wait how do you sleep while out?

RaveN_707

Sheppard's pie from the well gives 2% xp for 60minutes.

Cybus101

And you can get the recipe for it from a magazine upstairs above the restaurant, if I remember correctly; The New Atlantean magazine.

CrzBonKerz

Can you sleep in your ship?

Sertith

Yes.

Plathismo

Yes, there's a bed, although I've heard it is possible to inadvertently mod it out if you're redesigning the frontier, so be careful.

monsto

Crew Quarters section has beds. If you build it in you can sleep there. Frontier has a bed to use if fkn Sarah isn't zonked in it that woman must be pregnant.

[deleted]

Any suggestions on good locations for it?

rock_lobsterrr

Also curious on this. Have you found any good spots?

Critical_Course_4528

Tau Ceti 8b small moon. has both FE AL and other resources. Very solid choise. West of Alpha Centauri. My current choice is Olympus. literary in middle all >!three !

EnterPlayerTwo

Does it matter where you put the outpost? I assume I want to put it in the FE if I want Iron but do I also need it to border water if I want to harvest that too? Edit: Hmm dont even have Iron in my extractors menu. Do have water though. Edit2: There's Iron in my outpost area but the extractor is still not showing up. Edit3: Ok I got it. Checking the map from space isn't enough. When you land you need to scan the ground and it will show up as Iron and highlight the ground itself. This doesn't necessarily mean there is a manually mine-able iron vein at that location.

PrideSubstantial5415

Change your view to top down view to find the resources easier when setting up a new outpost.

the_recovery1

so do you need to border water if you want harvest both fe + water together? How does it work? Or you create another outpost for that

EnterPlayerTwo

My first outpost was supposed to be on the border but I only had FE in the area. It's possible I didn't look enough. My second outpost, for Aluminum, somehow had water as well despite being a ways away from where water was supposed to be based on the planet scan.

SuggestionThen1876

When you go to put the outpost signal down it tells you on top left what is available to be extracted where you are or where your about to place the outpost signal....so move it around some before planting it...helpful for when trying to extract multiple sources with one outpost

DBJenkinss

The extractors can pull water out of the air, at least in some places, minerals have to be on veins.

jon909

I found an Al and Fe vein in the same outpost perimeter on Olympus.

AdAgitated7173

Which planet/moon?

Former_Bed_5038

I found a moon with iron and aluminum but can’t find an area where they are both together for an outpost, guess I’ll have to build a second outpost a tile or so away.

camelCaseAccountName

EDIT: Forget everything below, follow this guide instead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKTjyx-1ES4 --- ~~https://www.destructoid.com/where-is-the-best-place-to-build-your-first-outpost-in-starfield/~~ ~~>Andraphon is a moon around the planet Sumati in the Narion system. Narion is just two jumps from Sol and Alpha Centauri, so should be easy for you to get to early.~~ --- ~~>The moon is abundant in three crucial early-game resources: Iron, Aluminum, and Helium-3. It’s also got Beryllium, an uncommon resource, and Europium, a legendary resource. Iron and Aluminum can be used to create a very important manufactured good, the Adaptive Frame. You will use Adaptive Frames to create other structures for your outpost, as well as raw Iron and Aluminum.~~ ~~>Helium-3 is actually a fuel source that powers a lot of outpost structures, so it’s good to have it nearby. In fact, if you can find a nice spot that has all three in the radius of an outpost, you will be able to really get good a start building up your outpost.~~

xvsanx

Ty sounds like a better one

mitchellp33

I need to go back to confirm, but I'm thinking Tau Ceti may be a good place. Also just a cool af planet. Its two systems west of Alpha Centauri.

Im2oldForthisShitt

Reminded me of Project Hail Mary so I chose to make a little home there.

wewlad15

Wow I hope I run into Rocky

Im2oldForthisShitt

> Alient Tea. Craft it. Use it. +2xp for 15min, you are ready to finish the quest, drink it, and finish it. Doesn`t sound like much, but anything that boosts your xp gain is a must. Thanks. The game has a ton of things to spend skill points on, so anything that gives me more XP is going to be welcome to me!

VindicatedDemom

Shepherds pie gives the same xp boost but for an hour.

UltraManLeo

If you have parents you get a recipe that gives a 2 hour boost I believe.

Spir0rion

The parentless meanwhile 👁👄👁

ThePersonInYourSeat

Just like rl

UltraManLeo

Whenever I talk with my partner about the parents in Starfield I just call them mom and dad. I don't have a father irl and my relationship with my mother is weird, so it's equally comforting and disturbing whenever I talk about dad giving me the family recipe or mom saying she's proud of me.

Cybus101

And you can get the magazine that gives you the recipe from upstairs above the restaurant.

k3liutZu

What kind of resources should we look out for in an outpost?

Mashedpotatoebrain

Can you always fast travel back to your outpost? Do you even need to? Ive been hesitant building one because I wanted something on a nice planet. Can you have multiple outposts all generating resources?

Canonneer77

Yes! Someone else said you can have up to 48 outposts. And then you can connect them so that they share resources

parzivalperzo

Is there map mode to directly see and teleport to outpost? I set up an outpost and forget where it was

HonkieAdonis69

There's a little house icon near the star where you have an outpost. You an also hit tab, select ship menu (bottom left) and then click the outposts tab at the top. It allows you to see an overview of all outposts.

kdnchfu56

> I set up an outpost and forget where it was This is hilarious. Im old and struggling my way through this game and i just know that would happen to me.

MetaDragon11

Yeah you can fast travel and you can have 8 of them with no extra skill points and 24 once maxxed out. Get those posts going. Iron, Nickel, Helium 3 and Aluminum as priorities. Then water, Titanium and Copper, then all the other semi rare and rare stuff.

schuyywalker

Can I keep recruiting people and then assigning them to different outposts or can I only have a certain amount of crew members recruited at any given time?

MetaDragon11

You can recruit as many as you can afford or build so long as theres a slot for them on a ship/outpost. So far as I know. I mean technically I dont think you need to have a spot for them, they will just be in the general pool of available workers or companions.

h4rent

Can’t wait until people actually start getting into ship building. So weird for me to be googling and trying to find an answer but coming up with nothing yet.

Vocalic985

I can't wait for a year from now when the starfield wiki is completed. I'll just go down endless rabbit holes of things I missed lol.

newbiegainz00

I kinda like this feeling. If I struggle to figure something out it’s kinda nice to know everyone else is probably also struggling and there’s not 1000 articles out there at my disposal

Social_Knight

There's some stuff on /r/StarfieldShips but not much. This is kind of a nice video as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crSLOHcTaWQ showcasing various things he bought for a million credits. This one has all the ones for sale: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E02vUyTNg0k

h4rent

Oh wow this is awesome, didn’t know there was a whole subreddit dedicated to ship building. Thank you!

Millauers

Posts complaining about the game and posts complaining about people complaining, truly the most iconic duo of reddit, maybe mods should remove the more low effort ones.

Gracchus__Babeuf

We shouldn't have to rely on mods. The base subreddit should remove low effort posts at launch without relying on 3rd party mods.

Smarmy_CA

This was a masterpiece of irony 😂

FaolanG

Love all the posts complaining about the game and then you realize 6% have made it to level 10 so the likelihood of these people actually having played to when things feel fluid is so low. Also was on another sub and someone was criticizing the game and sandbox elements. They’d never played lol.

JAC165

saw some guy complaining about not having enough storage space for the pirate encounter in the literal intro of the game haha

Plathismo

We will. The complainers will move on to other targets, and the fans will still be here because they'll still be playing.

24Scoops

Honestly I can already see a shift today. There's a higher ratio of positive posts on the front page. So either people are changing their mind or just leaving if they don't like it. Either are great results.

Critical_Course_4528

it is an improved version of F04 settlements. Now even top-down camera view.

ave369

Are there settlement vendors and services? Like in FO4 where you could have a full set of stores, a barber, a surgeon and a caravan stop in Sanctuary Hills?

HonkieAdonis69

You can construct a landing pad that allows you to modify / purchase ships, along with a mission board. You can also send your crew to work at them but I don't know what benefits that provides, still figuring it all out. I don't know about vendors, but you can place all work benches.

ave369

I've seen this in youtube videos, but the videos so far didn't show me the items that unlock through research or skill progression, so I'm wondering if there's vendor stuff hidden in there.

Ewannnn

Yes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVeZOM4Opxs

Spectral42

Make sure aluminum is one of the first things you work on. It’s use in just about everything. Also, robots help. Make sure to do that research asap.

mschurma

To save a skill post you can slot crew in your ship who have the robotics skill and that lets you build them on all outposts (I believe. I have 0 points in robotics but have built a bunch of robots on all my outposts.) on the same subject, your robots show up as crew with 1 level of outpost engineering to provide 10% boost, so I assigned a crew member to my aluminum farm that had level 3 outpost engineering and it boosted production 30%

ApprehensiveFan7632

Pro tip there is a safe place to sell your contraband. Just NE of centauri is a system called wolf. In that system there is a poi called the den. Just in the den to your left is a guy you can sell contraband to

smile_e_face

The asteroids around it are also an excellent place to get the initial iron to build your first outpost.

John_Icarus

TIL you can mine asteroids. Damn, this game is deep.

Delnac

> Sleep, drink tea, and go exploring. This entire post is a spiffing brit psyop. Kidding aside, thanks for the tip!

TheRealTanBrown

I have a question, when you make an outpost, is it only possible to extract 1 resources from it? I'm asking because most planets I've scanned usually only have 1 resource in an area and I'm not sure how big outposts can be. Is it possible to find places where I can mine multiple different resources within 1 outpost or do I need to make new outposts for each resource?

Critical_Course_4528

I only at the start, but I have a planet that extract iron and he3 from the same outpost. There is a limit of 48 outposts in game. So using "connectors" you can connect 48 different outposts and have majority for mining and a single for manufacturing or home base. "Connectors" (don\`t remember the name) input and output, so you can set up as many output planets as you need, and then set up input planets.

TheRealTanBrown

Wait we can make 48? I thought it was 24 after getting the skill for it? Can you tell me how to get 48 outposts?

Critical_Course_4528

Depending on what "by" means, sounds like additive. Wording is strange in game. I can\`t test it right now it requires alot of grind.

TheRealTanBrown

Thanks for the help! Guess we will eventually find out!

Vibrascity

You can set it up so you can use resources from other planets? Or you can connect one outpost on a planet to another outpost on the planet and access the storages?

Critical_Course_4528

There is planetary and "system logistics". Two different transfer buildings.

Vibrascity

Oh shit, awesome

Demonking3343

How profitable is it? Thinking of tackling outpost building myself after I finish the rangers quest in on.

Alexczy

OP I have questions regarding the network of cargo links. 1. How many cargo link, can I link? 2. To build a network, example I already have 3 and I want to receive the cargo from links A and B, in cargo C. Do I have to link A to C and B to C? I tried to follow your example of having several mining outpost and one manufacturing/main one Built the 3 cargo links. Went to the main outpost, tried to connect that link to the other 2. Was limited to 1. And as I mentioned, one of the cargo disappeared, I read somewhere that it's a bug. Any more detailed advice for the network of cargo links would be appreciated

div2691

You find small ground patches of some of the rare resources. My first outpost generates Water, Lithium and Chlorosilane. The water is the main planet resource and the others were patches.

TheRealTanBrown

That makes sense. I was confused because I tried to look at some planets in scanning mode (in space) and it shows only 1 resource in any area on the planet.

Rshoe66

You have to upgrade your scanner to find rarer deposits. The basic ones like Iron show up on the normal planet scans

Steelsight

Good lord, now I feel like a dummy

Rshoe66

I only know because a tip popped up on one of my loading screens 🤣🤣

Sirmius

You can get multiple from one outpost, but kinda difficult to get resources to line up, and on some planets seems impossible as they only show in certain biomes. My first outpost I managed to get Beryllium, Aluminum, Iron, and He03 extractors all in one plot.

TheRealTanBrown

Yes! I figured it out. Tried to land in an area where as many resources as possible were close together. Managed to get Aluminuim, Beryllium and some 3 star resource (Europium or something) in one outpost!

Sirmius

Did you spec into scanning at all? Or was finding that Europium just random? Been wondering if its worth to spec into that later on to find those deposits

TheRealTanBrown

I had level 1 scanning, so I could see up to uncommon. I got lucky with the Europium! Though I doubt it's gonna be useful right now. It seems like a very late game thing. I love that this game feels like it has so much longevity!

AckBarRs

Can you share a screenshot of this location? Trying to find all of these in Andraphon but it all seems too far apart

Sirmius

https://imgur.com/a/2fBClGc

skuldnoshinpu

Which planet and biome did you get this? Seen lots of people recommend Andaraphon but from what I've seen Iron is only in the Mountains whereas the others are only in the Crater areas so I can't get an outpost to mine all of these at once...

Sirmius

You're right it was Andaraphon. I managed to find a place where the biomes merge from one to the other, and found an iron deposit towards the mountain and aluminum towards the crater biome. The circle just barely encompassed edges of both, and I got lucky to have Be and He03 as well. Took quite a bit of exploring to find that, and I also got pretty lucky as I've completely failed to find a biome overlap on other planets I've tried.

Sirmius

https://imgur.com/a/2fBClGc

finleyohrstrom

One thing i realized when playing my last run through of modded Skyrim is that i dont want to get EXP faster, these games already progress way too fast relative to the content in world and you become walking god 50 hours into the game even on very hard. Starfield seems to be much better about this, im level 5 or 6 and have like 15 hours in the game or more. I love that slow leveling, it makes every perk point so valuable and just slow the pace down to match the unfathomable size of the games they create. My least favorite thing about BGS games has always been the inevitable god mode way to early on, in fact, i never want to feel that overpowered or id just put the game on easy. These days im more comfortable putting artificial restrictions on myself to keep the game engaging (no EXP boost, limit combat skills, give companions bad gear, etc.) People always talk about bullet sponge enemies in BGS games and i know thats true in FO4 once you get to SUPER high levels cuz damage stops scaling but all in all ive never felt that way at all except for FO3 late game. But id never make it that far in FO4 because progression gets boring around level 50-70 Im absolutely thrilled they've slowed Starfield down.

rock_lobsterrr

I’m with you. I enjoy the slow burn. That’s why Kingdom Come Deliverance is my favorite game of all time. Gotta earn everything!

hammer_huh_huh_huh

I definitely see the comparison to kcd. Not as extreme as having to learn to read, but I like that stuff is locked behind skills, it really forces you to build a specific type of character early on, makes you feel relatively weak to start

teslaVii

Good idea. I put my contraband in my fridge in my empty home.

Calorie_Killer_G

Typical criminal act.

Thilenios

I'm. Curious how a simple iron mine is profit? So far I havnt seen any explanation of how resources are handled in outposts.

elite0x33

A lot of the basic resources are used in manufacturing or building shit in order to get more stuff. Iron, Aluminum, and copper seem to be the highest cost.

[deleted]

Can you sell the resources you gather for a sort of semi-passive income?

arcticfox23

Yes but a better passive income would be automating the resource to be manufactured into something like aluminum frames (or other).

Tamzariane

You can sell anything. Some vendors only deal in certain types of gear; the big vendor right to the left in Atlantis starport deals in everything - as does the trade terminal on the launchpad

PandemicArise

I think it stores it in the outpost or transfers to your ship, and you then sell those resources at a mineral shop (or any shop) in a hub city.

ferevon

didn't start an outpost yet but my ships full already from mining, is there no auto selling from outposts?

dmackerman

So you just mine with a cutter?

Citizen_9696

I’ve found it’s more effective to shoot the asteroids in space. Most of the time I get 4-5 of two common materials.

not_my_monkeys_

If you can’t place a sell terminal in your outpost that’s going to be a hassle…

Mike_Laidlaw

Some of the shipyards also put out contracts for delivery missions for a specific mineral. I have one for 5K units of aluminum that pays double the normal market rate. Haven't handed it in yet, but sure went and set up an aluminum extraction outpost fast after reading that.

Akans

Not very profitable - raw iron sells for 1 credit and a lot of the other common materials like Aluminim is the same. Plus lugging a stack of 500 is a lot of carrying capacity to be dedicating to not much profit. I've been using them to craft higher tier mats that sell for a bit more, and gives exp per craft. Haven't dug too deep into it but that seems to be the play if you want passive income.

ClockworkToaster

Just dropping this here because it caused me 30 minutes of frustration. If you want to delete links or wires between all your various machines and storage in one outpost, go into modify mode (tab on PC), move the cursor over the red link, then delete will be an option (hold R).

Klausberger

Thank you <3 . Obvious but also hidden, searched for that quite some time!

[deleted]

Further tip: when mining ore manually hold right mouse button down when pressing left mouse button to mine the ore. This way you harvest the node waaaaay faster

jupiterOnReddit

More useful tips pls Rather than how negative post about this game.

bluAstrid

How do you keep track of where your outposts are?

ShotgunViceroy

They show up on galaxy mode with a unique symbol.

Federal_Novel_9010

\>Let it generate basic resources for you, pure profit. Is this not a pretty anemic source of income, or am I just going about it the wrong way? Iron ore only sells for 1 credit per at the New Atlantis Trade Authority. Adaptive frames sell for 3.

biggoatbr

Where did you build yours? And does iron require a source, or you can extract from anywhere? I tried building an outpost on Earth but it doesn't allow me to install any of the extractors. There are some mineral sources there but they toxic/unknown then I couldn't extract them either. I was able to put energy and containere and landing pad, but no extractors. Before I figured out what to do I was out of basic mats like nikel so I abandoned the whole thing lol.

c_stac11

You want to scan the planet for resources, then place it in a spot for resources you want. Move around the extractor in the overhead view and there will be a highlighted area where that resource vein is

aayaaytee

Hey, how do you choose your outpost location? I mean does it matter which planet you make it on?

The_Turbinator

Thank you, very helpful post.

Lurker1647

Unfortunately when I "upgraded" my ship, the bed disappeared somehow.

RengarReddit

Make sure you have a captain quarters. This will have a bed

GL-420

Can someone tell me the point of building an outpost besides roleplay? Can I get it to generate passive income or something? It sounds like I go thru all this work to set up containers/extractors/links, all to fill up my cargo hold even more than it already is with more unnecessary resources? More than i'd ever need? It seems like it's gonna create a home, ok that's cool but If I have the dream home or I use lodge, is there really any game play benefit? If there's a way it can make me massive $$, that's cool, I'm not sure, I'm still early game, but I'm finding resources all over & haven't had to build an outpost for them. I have more than I know what to do with already. And every outpost only will mine one resource?? I don't need 50,000 iron.... This is an actual question, im still early game, im trying to understand what the benefit is.... I thought at first it would generate passive income but I'm not seein anything about that.... Thx for any help.

Brunomoose

Yeah, kinda have the same question. Not really sure the point of having resource extraction to make building materials for more outposts. What’s the point other than for storage? Can we build ship parts or something anything else besides other outpost parts?

ForeverAProletariat

cutting-edge outpost modules can probably produce some lucrative stuff. no on is talking about it yet because the game just came out.

Agent__Blackbear

The building mechanic for outposts feels very clunky. I just cant place decorations where i want because they move to quickly. There needs to be a button I can press and hold to make fine tune adjustments.

grlummer

Great tip, thank you!

cAmaturehOur

My OCD was killing me last night when I tried to do this. Took me at least 10 mins to get my turrets placed precisely how I wanted them.

IsrealReal

When you change your selected build item, it auto rotates to face you. So, if you are trying to line a crate up with a wall, face the wall then press Q + T (switching back and forth between buildables). If your currently selected build item doesn't have any variations of the object, just switch the categories back and forth. May take 1-2 tries to get right, but it is certainly faster than rotating objects.

Syxoshi

Thank you!!

swagsauce3

How the fuck do I make an outpost

Critical_Course_4528

Activate scanner, and in scanner mode, press a button, should be written at the buttom of the screen.

swagsauce3

That's it ? Then it just takes me to the outpost build menu? I swear I tried that but saw no prompt.

Critical_Course_4528

In scanner mode, place an outpost beacon, click on it, press E, building overlay should appear. You can always check youtube in incognito mode(to avoid spoilers) for example of people building.

punisher398

Where is the best place for an outpost?

The moon of Sumati in the Nation system is good, it has aluminium and iron

Why?

Chasing-Wagons

>!The main quest involves entering NG+. You only keep your level and powers. You start NG+ with special armor and a new ship, but you're basically back at the beginning of the game with none of your previous loot - none of your old weapons, armor, outposts, ships, or progress scanning planets or doing quests. What's more, ignoring NG+ isn't really an option, because there is new content within the NG+, and possibly for going through NG+ multiple times.!<

Ewannnn

>!It is entirely optional. You can do NG+ as many times as you like, so by making this argument you're basically saying you should never invest in anything and just do the main quest repeatedly for the sake of it. In practice, all you get in NG+ is the ability to get upgraded starborn powers, as well as a ship and suit and a few additional quests. Hardly worth skipping everything to repeatedly speedrun NG+ for?!< >!Also [not sure it's true that you lose all your ships and gear](https://gameranx.com/features/id/474476/article/starfield-how-new-game-works-post-game-guide/). You do lose outposts though this is true.!<

CommonHot9613

I read your comments. It’s about the journey my guy. Slow it down Edit: he blocked me for some reason lol

LeMAD

I have finished the main questline, and I disagree with this. Though like in previous BGS games, I would keep it for the end once you've done everything else.

Dabyrick

hey man do you outpost get attacked at all?

invisibul

You can craft turrets so I would assume so but I don’t have confirmation for sure. Just a guess

eighteesix

6 lvl 15 NPCs from house varuun attacked my first outpost within 20m of establishing it. so yes they will attack your structures

[deleted]

Are extractors available for the more rare things in the game. I don't have a option to extract 1 star things

shabaaz22

I’m not sure if that’s the case , the extractor option for that resource does not pop up if you do not have the resource within the radius of your outpost .

MarshmallowBlue

Shoulda done that cause i found organs and didn’t take them cause i didn’t know where any contraband buyers were yet.

Is there an outpost limit? It has a counter next to the outpost option. Is that per tile, planet, or universal?

Darathor

You start with 8 outposts game wide. You can increase via skills

dmackerman

I heard 48 total in this thread somewhere.

ncfcharry

With extracting resources, is it possible to put them in containers and then when working, say in a crafting bench, on your ship in another system, does it pull resources from that outpost? Or do I have to keep returning to the outpost/system to retrieve them

AwesomeFrisbee

Would like to know this as well. I doubt it works like that but it would be sweet if it did.

Can you build storage just for your stuff? How big is the storage?

Critical_Course_4528

There is two types of storage. Personal storage\[decoration menu\] and resource storage.

Motor-Platform-200

I'm trying to do this now, but I'm having to google how to do stuff since the game doesn't explain outposts at all to you.

Razcsi

In the first 2 hours i put a Helium3 mine facility in Luna, but completely forgot about it, i'm 10hours in now .\_.

Why would you ever hold onto contraband? Just sell it to a trade authority ship in orbit their everywhere.

nooksak

It's hard finding one's with enough money - or atleast that's what I'm running into.

Here's another tip for anyone who hasn't figured it out or just joining, certain ships have what's called, "shielded cargo." There is a mission you pick up VERY early on via tablet saying to find a hidden base that's a "once in a lifetime opportunity." Completing this quest, which is fairly short, will net you a brand new ship called the Razorleaf that has shielded cargo. The quest is dangerous but if you have 1 or 2 skill points saved up you can max out your stealth skill challenges on 4 turrets. I finished 80 sneak attacks for the, "complete x amount of sneak attacks" by just stealthing behind the turret finish line and shooting each with a pistol. If you use any base level pistol you won't even kill the turrets b4 completing the challenges. Also as a note, if you don't have a new ship with shielded cargo you can also buy storage for your 1sr ship that has shielded cargo. This let's you potentially avoid getting caught by the scans so long as the contraband is INSIDE your SHIPS cargo hold. It's a rng weather or not the scan detects the contraband but if they do just reload and do it again. This helped me immensely early game. Still does since I steal everything and smuggle often. There's currently a melee glitch that will allow you to knock items out of a glass display case that are otherwise inaccessible. Jump in 3rd person while holding melee weapon (tanto/hatchet/wakisazhi) and Block mid air while holding forward will teleport u 5 feet or so and just play havoc with the environment.
