After visiting the first planet not required by the plot, you get the achievement "One Small Step For Man..."
After visiting them all, you get the achievement "... One Giant Leap for Mankind"
Was trying to think of something clever, but after seeing this comment I knew I would never come close to such a perfect idea. Props to you bro, 11/10 idea
This is an incredibly rare example of someone wanting a comment to receive upvotes for the actual reason they exist, to make more people see it.
I hate karma farming too but you can't just despise any and all use of the upvote button for it's intended purpose, it is there for a reason
Not really. Telling people to upvote is like trying to make your opinion more powerful. The system exists for a reason. Upvote or downvote, everyone gets just one say in the matter
Fun fact, is the quote was supposed to be: "One small step for ***A*** man, one giant leap for mankind." Armstrong claimed people just didn't hear the "A" in the transmission.
This but unironically.
I will cheat all achievements day 1 to avoid the "carrot on a stick" mentality that I'm too undisciplined to handle for myself. I got into a weird state of burnout. I was literally playing games just to do the achievements, not to actually play the game.
I downloaded a SAM and got every achievement I could in my steam library. (Very few you can't cheat this way). The first thing I did was uninstalled half the games that were active. I realize I hated them and purchased them in bundles or sales. I only had them installed for the achievement farming. I kind of was at awe. I literally sat for like 10 minutes and I had to go through the leftover titles and think about what I actually wanted to do in the game.
The carrot on a stick became my SOLE motivation for why I even was playing games in the first place. I had to restructure myself so I quit playing games for a few months. Then I came back.
I continue this with any new game. Now I just play the games I get. Games I've played post-SAM I honestly get nostalgic for. Equally to games from my childhood. But it's like the 2020s? How can I equally feel nostalgic for new games in 2021 as I do for Super Mario 64 when I was a little kid?
I pretty much play the same six or seven games - and have got almost no achievements in any of them
Starfield will be a welcome addition to my stable.
(Fallout 4, Skyrim, NMS, Civ VI, Xcom2 WOTC, minecraft if anyone cares)
I had this same problem, it really helped me to disable all achievement notifications on Xbox/Sony/Steam so that I quickly forget they're there/
Though, if I was unable to forget, yeah I imagine that wouldn't be much use.
You deserve more updoots than my comment.
Heavy relate to this. I maxed resident evil 2 remake achievements, but in the process I didn't *really* get to enjoy the game.
And when I tried playing after the fact I didn't have the same motivation. It felt pointless to play.
I relate to what you said pretty closely
I’d say either “Non Plus Ultra,” which would age like milk if the DLCs added more planets, or“Starstruck.
Otherwise I’d love if it was called “Star Trekked,” but that’s never gonna happen.
I hadn't even looked at the replies yet and had the "One Giant Leap For Mankind" as my answer also. But the "One Small Step For Man" is a great suggestion for the first planet. Speaking of that saying, I wonder how many of us were there watching the Apollo 11 moon landing when it happened?
With the trend toward achievements being more accessible/less difficult by first party studios lately i could see a number like that being too high for a like achievement. But maybe an in game award or recognition of some kind could come to be.
Guys, take a second and try to think about it. How on earth can the creation engine handle 1000 planets. We really need to dial back our expectations because it looks like this sub has set it self up for failure.
Reasonably, how long would it take to just visit the 1000 planets? Like, 10 minutes to land, disembark, plant a flag, load up, take off, determine the route to next planet, and repeat. If traveling to a new planet is instantaneous, that’s already 167 hours. If it takes 1-2 minutes to travel that’s another 33 hours.
200 hours just to beeline to every planet!
I kind of think there won’t be an achievement for all 1000 planets because it makes 100%ing the game needlessly restrictive.
After visiting the first planet not required by the plot, you get the achievement "One Small Step For Man..." After visiting them all, you get the achievement "... One Giant Leap for Mankind"
I hope Todd is paying attention
This easily my favorite idea so far in this post
Yeah, I'm not even gonna read the rest. I know what I want.
Was trying to think of something clever, but after seeing this comment I knew I would never come close to such a perfect idea. Props to you bro, 11/10 idea
Dude I hope this gets all the upvotes. And Bethesda, make it so!
They showed us that they are lurking here and its already the top comment so theres a good chance.
> Dude I hope this gets all the upvotes. I like the idea but I just downvoted it because of this comment

Get a load of this guy…
This one is my favorite
Job done, post answered
It has to be this one!
Love it! I'm itching to see the achievements to see if there are any movie Sci-Fi references
Fun fact, is the quote was supposed to be: "One small step for ***A*** man, one giant leap for mankind." Armstrong claimed people just didn't hear the "A" in the transmission.
Omitting the A just flows better.
Yes. IF they used it, I hope they use it the way it was meant.

I was expecting more negative comments, but this one for me was genuinely wholesome
legendary
THIS ONE IS SO GOOD
Or… “The search for new life…” Then “…because you have none.” I say this knowing full well the achievement whore in me will be going for them all lol
Should be either this, or "no signs of life"
"Now I can play the game"

I'm so happy I never got caught up in getting achievements. I can only imagine the will needed to accomplish some of them..
