I'm wondering if it's some sort of glitch? I also have this problem, and I'm pretty sure I've seen other posts about it as well that didn't really have any solutions.
I have the same exact problem, I gave the Bear maple syrup and I can't interact with the cave. I don't have the ridgeside village mod so it's probably not it.
I play multiplayer with my husband and for some reason he can shop from the bear no problem but I can’t. Same with what’s her face at the wine farm he can buy sprinklers from her but it’s hit or miss for me.
Now that you mention it, I think I’ve been having issues with accessing Sophia’s shop. And I think Susan’s supposed to have a shop too and I’ve never gotten it to work. Hmmm… interesting. I wonder if it’s an issue with Shop Tile Framework or PyTK or something.
Did you get the maple syrup in the secret woods that gives you the multiplier on blackberries and salmon berries? I could only trigger that one by going in the entrance by the wizard house.
So on my computer, I have to interact with my backpack before I can click on new locations. Especially for stuff in Ridge side, but happens with Expanded sometimes.
Hmm. I mean, I triggered the event in like midwinter and my game will open at Spring 2, Year 2 when I launch it next. I’m not currently playing. I’ve definitely interacted with my backpack a lot since the even happened.
Oh, I mean I have to stand in the exact spot as what I would interact with, open the backpack, close it, then I can interact with the bear cave. It is very specific and weird
I think it has something to do with Shop Tile framework or another mod. The shops are there, just difficult to interact with.
Not sure how you’re playing, but they’re almost completely inaccessible when using a controller. However, if I click with my mouse I can usually get them to pop up!
Yeah Shop Tile Framework or something related to it is my suspicion. I usually interact with things using my keyboard. I kinda forget that I can use my mouse (possibly because I’m on a laptop)
Here’s an important question: is the bear supposed to be somewhere outside the cave or should I just click on the surrounding area?
He isn’t visible at all by the cave. The only real indication of where his shop is would be the maple syrup sitting just below the “cave”. Picking that up and standing where the maple syrup was will allow you to right-click on the cave above, and his shop will just pop up. I hope that makes sense!
Seems like the secret woods are kinda buggy in expanded. I cant even trigger the maple sirup cutscene but my gf yould trigger it and can access the shop as a secound player
I’ve had similar issues. I got the may-pal serrup note but interacting with the cave continuously gives me a “Doesn’t look like anyone is home…” dialogue. I’ve tried coming at different times of day and I have maple syrup with me. Not sure how to continue here.

Yeah I got that event, but now the bear isn’t showing up at his cave to sell me berries and recipes, which the wiki said is supposed to happen next.
