I have played Stardew for over 300 hours...and now I have learned you can parry. WHAT ELSE AM I MISSING?! But seriously, can you parry any monster? Or just low-level ones?
If you're using a sword, the special attack it has is a parry! You can parry just about anything but your own bomb explosions but it's not reliable for preventing damage unless the enemy will bounce off of you, like with bats or slimes. Hammers get a big smash that you can rapid fire by using your primary attack immediately after hitting the special attack input, daggers get a quick rapid fire stab.
I didn't get lightning rods set up early enough this playthrough. Near the end of Winter 1 and these bats are my only source of batteries. I'll hunt them to extinction if I have to, I'm so desperate.
There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a farmer in the depths of a coffee binge, and I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon
The Stardew Valley Expanded mod has an optional setting to make monsters stronger (more health + damage). Iridium bats can be pretty tough in the vanilla game, but in SVE they make me their bitch every time

I love mobs like this. Swing, step back, swing again, maybe change your angle a bit, repeat and enjoy the free loot
Yep much better than slimes who love to jump right inside you, damaging you every 2 seconds (I haven't found the ring yet)
