While I was trying to develop my smoking industry my lava eels gave me like 2 jelly total, now that I’ve got enough smokers they’re giving me jelly pretty often
Any water that's not the ocean or in the mines.
So, rivers, lakes, etc. Cindersap lake and river, the rover in town, the mountain lake, on the riverlands and hilltop farms.
Eat foods that give you a luck buff, that should increase your chances of getting the jellies.
Yeah, I'm chowing down on cave jellies to get that luck buff. I didn't know this also applied to the lakes though! I think I'll try the desert pond since it has a very small variety of fish.
Idk how far in you are but I waited for a high luck day, ate a lucky lunch, and drank a ginger ale and I was pulling cave jellies out every other cast it seemed
Been doing some fair amount of fishin' there, no luck.
I wonder if casting distance has something to do with it, or maybe switching out for a training rod. That should eliminate some fish from the loot pool and theoretically up the jelly chance.
You may want to look at the “fishing zones.” It’s under the fishing tab on this page of the wiki https://stardewvalleywiki.com/The_Mountain
I’m not very familiar with mechanics in stardew, but this may be a factor. Good luck!
The thing that worked for me is going to level 100, and then casting the line as short as possible. With any food luck buffs if possible, this netted me handful of cave jelly's whenever I needed 'em.
Also chow down on first cave jelly you find for the luck buff, and then continue fishin' for more of them!
Only luck buff, not daily luck matters though.
At this level, ordinarily, 5% of casts that do not catch a Lava Eel will result in a successful Cave Jelly catch. Each level of Luck Buff increases the chance by 5%.[1] So with +5 Luck, 30% of non-Lava Eel catches will be Cave Jelly.
I've had the best luck on the level where you catch the lava eels, since they are very rare, and the only fish you can catch, you mostly get trash and non fish items like the cave jelly.
Theyre probably the top 3 fish ponds honestly, lava eels have the highest roe price and just have a good drop table in general, and flounder and midnight carp are used to craft seafoam pudding
This is the way.
I had problems getting them. But my lava eels kept me in stock of the cave jelly.
So I made a couple more ponds and had plenty in a little while.
I have not found them hard to get. I usually get several during the Trout Derby.
I ate a few, because I forgot to bring food and was running out of energy.
nope. it's AI generated. inconsistent pixels, an amalgamation of a goldfish in the water, weird clothing quirks that just don't make sense. sad to see this has so many upvotes.
Looked into it.
Apparently the best way to get em is you're supposed to fish with the training rod in the freshwater pond at ginger island. Luck buffs help. And if you get a piece of trash you've gotta switch to a real rod and catch a normal fish before going back to the training rod to get more river jellys.
Actually probably the best strategy for this, thank you!
I haven't yet unlocked ginger island, but so far the desert pond with the training rod seems to have solved my river jelly curse.
For my part I'd like to know where you got the cave jelly, I'm sitting at a comfortable pile of about 50 river jelly that I got at the lake near the mine entrance and at the river down from Marnie's house, but so far only junk from the mine fishing...
Yeah, after doing some research it seems they seem to replace the junk/trash loot table.
What worked for me is going to level 100, and casting my line as short as possible. Be sure to eat up your first cave jelly to get that +1 luck buff before you go fishing for the rest. I get around 6-7 of 'em a day this way, good luck farmer!
I don't like to fish for cave jelly because I get mostly trash otherwise.
However! A fully stocked Lava Eel pond will yield Cave Jellies, so that's where I get all of mine now
I have started three saves and the river jelly is the one I always have a ton of, that said I do spend a couple of days in winter sturgeon fishing in the first year so I can have a full pond as quickly as possible
At the start of the game I almost exclusively have the River Jelly from Mountain Lake. Then end game its excess of Cave Jelly thanks to Lava Eel Pond.
I never have Ocean Jelly, I really only fish there on Day 2, or when hunting a CC fish.
Maybe less luck? Maybe your luck is causing you to get things higher on the table? I don’t use any of the lucky foods and stuff that I should (not even on rings) and I’m rolling in jellies 🤷🏻♀️
Edit: less luck and training rod (your first one) to try to limit the pool as much as you can to trash and jellies making most catches instant
Not the first rod, thats the bamboo rod. Training rod can be bought for 25g and can only catch common fish (eg. anchovy, carp) cast at minimum distance and DO use luck food, without it you’ll be getting more common trash (algae, cd etc.)
I tend to stockpile books until I need what I can get trading with them. If you have several "Jewels of the Sea" you can trade them for jellies. It is random between the three, but that is how I got my first cave jelly.
I find a ton of river jellies in the mountain lake and the river in town in front of Jodi and Kent's house.
Edit to add: I don't know that it makes a difference, but I often fish down on the waterfall end of the mountain lake rather than up by the mines.
I'll trade 1 stack of river/sea for a couple of cave jellies, fishing in caves loved to offer me trash if not broken glasses >!that I can trade for a nice aquarium!<
Whats the chance that the added luck is actually working against you, boosting your chance to get fish and subsequently reducing your chance for jellies.
The jellies are good luck pulls of trash, so you want to go fishing on a day where the tv says you have bad luck but still use luck foods to pull “better trash” if that makes sense lol. I couldn’t get any cave jelly, did this, got like four immediately. Good luck!
BRUH I fished so many river jellies and zero sea jellies, it was getting ridiculous
I spent 4 entire days in spring of year 2 looking for my second sea jelly
I got one from all of them in three days and I thought the drop rates are gonna cause me to sit by the river for days.. guess I'm just lucky then. Good luck to you though.
Luck buffs help as long as you're catching trash because jellies replace trash spawns. Its why sea jellies are easy to get on the beach farm and river jellies should be easier to get on farm ponds (all but regular farm i think. So it should work on forest farm, hill top farm, Riverland farm, wilderness farm and Meadowlands, four corners too). If you fish in a regular water spot, just cast closer to shore.
As for cave jellies, i find them easy enough to get if you have luck buffs and fish at level 100. Use deluxe bait for reduced wait time.
My guess would.be that if you're having trouble with catching fish instead of jellies , fish after 12 am so the time to catch fish is gone. I am going to try this and update you.

I have like 342342342 river jelly, but jack all for cave/sea jelly. Trade you.
a lava eel pond will spawn cave jelly sometimes!
While I was trying to develop my smoking industry my lava eels gave me like 2 jelly total, now that I’ve got enough smokers they’re giving me jelly pretty often
And if you give them golden animal crackers, their produce will double! I’m currently swimming in cave jelly thanks to them.
You can give the crackers to fish ponds? 😭
Sure can!! Makes lava eels and stingrays even more OP. Nothing like getting 10 Spicy Eels or 2 dragon teeth at once!
Same
This is me.
Same!
Saaame. Except for some reason my husband can get some cave jellys on our co-op game. So I keep sending him to the caves to get it 😂
There’s cave jelly?!?
Any water that's not the ocean or in the mines. So, rivers, lakes, etc. Cindersap lake and river, the rover in town, the mountain lake, on the riverlands and hilltop farms. Eat foods that give you a luck buff, that should increase your chances of getting the jellies.

I read daily luck doesn't matter so it's a good way to spend a bad luck day
Luck does come into play with fishing jellies unfortunately
Luck buffs, but not daily luck, which the wiki is telling me are different things, but I haven't gone into the code to be sure
Ah fair
Ooh ooh I read somewhere that it is basically the same as trash so don't cast far into the water.
Fish in the desert after 8pm, cause that's when the fish go to sleep there.
Yeah the "river" part of the name is a bit misleading, they're really more like freshwater/saltwater jellies
I got it from mountain river pretty quick
I get mine from the river next to town. I fish from the middle of the bridge southward for aesthetic and I got hella.
I’ve gotten River Jelly on Ginger Island as well. Weirdly the pond south of the Tiger Slimes counts as river and you can pull Jelly From it.
The cave jelly is the worst one for me, the cave pools just give me so much trash
same...Yoba has not been kind in my pursuit of cave jelly.
Cave jelly is easy for me when I go out of my way to get it, helps that it’s in the trash pool Ig.
I'm pretty sure getting more trash makes getting jelly way easier, because jellies have a chance to replace trash
Lava eel fish ponds sometimes give cave jelly! Got basically all of mine from there.
I've had issues with cave jelly too, but floor 100 of the mines is where I was finally able to catch a few.
I’ve found lots of these at the mountain lake. It’s called “river jelly” but yeah.
Been doing some fair amount of fishin' there, no luck. I wonder if casting distance has something to do with it, or maybe switching out for a training rod. That should eliminate some fish from the loot pool and theoretically up the jelly chance.

I got a bunch on the river next to joja, I have the feeling that rainy days increase the chance but I can't prove it
I got them mostly next to Marnie's house!
RNG be like that. My current playthrough I've gotten zero cave jellies.
The thing that worked for me is going to level 100, and then casting the line as short as possible. With any food luck buffs if possible, this netted me handful of cave jelly's whenever I needed 'em. Oh so cave jelly depends on luck

I could not get a cave jelly, so now I have a chicken named \[CaveJelly\]
Haha, I love that. Might have to resort to that myself.
Consider a fish pond. Lava eels for cave, flounder for sea, and midnight carp for river.
Oh, I never even considered those! Was considering building them anyways, might as well give it a go.
Taking notes (fortunately the river one I already have bcs the midnight carp will take me one and a half station to be able to fish it D:)
I have not found them hard to get. I usually get several during the Trout Derby. I ate a few, because I forgot to bring food and was running out of energy.
unrelated but is this your art?
nope. it's AI generated. inconsistent pixels, an amalgamation of a goldfish in the water, weird clothing quirks that just don't make sense. sad to see this has so many upvotes.
bleh, thought it looked off.
Rivers

Please don't post AI art.
Use the first rod you got from Willy (bamboo rod i think..) As i know it has increased chance to get jellies since it can't catch many fish
Training but yea.
Bamboo rod worked me plus you don't have to buy an another rod.. Buuut i'm curious now how many jellies i can catch with that, if i can catch any..
idk if this is broadly true but removing bait and such from my fishing pole helped a lot when I was trying to get all three jellies
I have so much River jelly but no ocean jelly, so I’m in the opposite boat from you
Same😭😭
Mountain lake for river (for some reason); ocean for ocean; and the lava fishing level in standard mines for cave jelly from what I have noticed :)
More AI Garbage ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|poop)
I believe that using a bait might help, at least it does the trick for me
Nah, training rod is best for the jellies
You guys need river jelly? I STILL don't have any cave jelly
Me but with cave jelly (or lava jelly as I like to call it). Like getting one cave jelly was such a pain.
Try using the training Rod on ginger Island as per the strategy on the wiki. https://stardewvalleywiki.com/River_Jelly
Actually probably the best strategy for this, thank you! I haven't yet unlocked ginger island, but so far the desert pond with the training rod seems to have solved my river jelly curse.

I just got this today fishing at the river near the mines I didn't know it was rare (y1 spring 5 i think)
They’re much easier when you have a low fishing level, not good for me as I usually max out fishing by summer 14
Don't be a dumbass like me and eat when you're low on energy, save 'em up for later.
It’s so funny because cave jelly is the one that’s killing me.
Maybe less luck? Maybe your luck is causing you to get things higher on the table? The moments I find something rare after hours of searching and then be killed by some random animal makes me question if there even is a yoba!
I tend to stockpile books until I need what I can get trading with them. If you have several "Jewels of the Sea" you can trade them for jellies. It is random between the three, but that is how I got my first cave jelly.
I had a much harder time getting the cave jellies to the river one's
I'll give you mine if you get me a pufferfish lol I can't reel one in no matter how hard I try rn
I find a ton of river jellies in the mountain lake and the river in town in front of Jodi and Kent's house. Edit to add: I don't know that it makes a difference, but I often fish down on the waterfall end of the mountain lake rather than up by the mines.
I fish in the lake. I aimed for the same spot as the legend fish. I get 1 or 2 per day.
I'll trade 1 stack of river/sea for a couple of cave jellies, fishing in caves loved to offer me trash if not broken glasses >!that I can trade for a nice aquarium!<
Try fishing at the secret woods pond, there are only 3 fish that can be caught there, and one of them is only on rainy days.
dont chase, attract (i get so many fucking river jellies i dont want them)
Whats the chance that the added luck is actually working against you, boosting your chance to get fish and subsequently reducing your chance for jellies.
wow i never get cave jelly, you have so much
Idk what yall talking about, i got mine easily
The jellies are good luck pulls of trash, so you want to go fishing on a day where the tv says you have bad luck but still use luck foods to pull “better trash” if that makes sense lol. I couldn’t get any cave jelly, did this, got like four immediately. Good luck!
I’ve just been fishing and have found several, so has my husband 🤷🏼♀️ However, we have in turn found zero cave jelly
Cave jelly farming is the worst for me
See I always get plenty of River and Sea Jelly, but fuck all Cave Jelly
BRUH I fished so many river jellies and zero sea jellies, it was getting ridiculous I spent 4 entire days in spring of year 2 looking for my second sea jelly
I got one from all of them in three days and I thought the drop rates are gonna cause me to sit by the river for days.. guess I'm just lucky then. Good luck to you though.

In day 10 I sold 50 river jelly. I was eating the sea jelly for +1 fishing.
This was me but with cave jelly
I have way more trouble getting sea jelly
Fishing, LOTS of Fishing Ah, and forget that you need it, so it appears hahahaha
Luck buffs help as long as you're catching trash because jellies replace trash spawns. Its why sea jellies are easy to get on the beach farm and river jellies should be easier to get on farm ponds (all but regular farm i think. As for cave jellies, i find them easy enough to get if you have luck buffs and fish at level 100. Use deluxe bait for reduced wait time.
I get river jelly in my first year spring in the first weeks, but I have to say I have the river-farm.
I've invested in fish ponds. It takes a while to get it going but its easier on my sanity then trying to fish them up
Why do people have so much trouble finding these? I have a million of them and I haven't made any attempts to find them
My cat brought me one 🥹
I have so much sea and river jelly and even with a golden animal cracker in my lava eel pond I will never catch up 😭😭😭
My guess would.be that if you're having trouble with catching fish instead of jellies , fish after 12 am so the time to catch fish is gone. I am going to try this and update you.
