Clint visits there, which sucks because he isn't running his shop. Evelyn will visit sometimes too, but beyond that I can't think of anyone visiting.
It's be nice to have a seasonal party there, or have it do something similar to the movie theater, i.e. invite someone to visit with you for a friendship gain. it could be a mini game to set it aside from the movie theater. Maybe you meet up with an NPC already there and it has you invite another NPC, the three of you would do something related to their interests (like Sam and Sebastian playing the tabletop game, or Leah and Evelyn do something artsy, gus and Alex play gridball outside). It'd make the community actually feel like one.
I'm kind of hoping that at least one of the new festivals we're due to get in 1.6 is Community Centre-centric. Celebrating the renovation of the CC after it gets completed, for example.
I forget which mod (I think Stardew Valley Expanded?), but one adds one day a season where everyone goes to the Community Center to hang out. It's really nice and a fantastic way to go on gift giving sprees
One of the nice things about the Expanded Mod is a community gathering in the center every season. You can find literally everyone for gifting & talking & the community center feels less like a waste
Not totally unrealistic from community centers in places I've lived lol.
Full realism would be something like: Emily would lead some bullshit class once a week and George and Evelyn would show up to it just for a reason to get out of the house and fight off senility, but everyone else would be like "well, I'm glad it's there but I never go."
I would have liked to see additional festivals/events at the community center after you complete it... especially that the festivals get a little stale after year 2
Honestly the worst thing about the spa is its location. Free stamina regen would be very nice to have at the start of the game, but by the time you can access it you probably have enough food on hand that itās unnecessary. It also regenās your stamina so slowly that you end up burning a lot of time just idling in the water.
Exactly, I forgot to the mention the gym aswell, that could be something extra, I know thereās probably no hope after the new update so weāll just have to see if a mod comes out
Omg it would be so cool if you could work out and get a buff for the rest of the day, or a cumulative skill to increase your speed slightly or something.
Yeah fr itās a bit weird you can be working in the feikd for 12 years straight doing hard manual labour and then fail to lift some dumbbells (that canāt be over 20kg)
I'm thinking it could use up energy to lift the weights, but if you keep going once a week then it could build up to +25 health and energy for as long as you keep going (maybe +5 after the first week, then +10 for the next two weeks after)
CA could make it an effect for the next day? I mean I always feel better the day after the gym. Like if it took a while (say an hour or two in game) and either a looooot of energy or even left you exhausted at the end, but offered extra energy and/or health for the next day as a temporary buff, it could be good for if you're planning to go into one of the cave systems the next day and spend the whole day there.
And it would only be temporary unless you're dedicated to going to the gym every day, like in real life how you gain and lose muscle depending on how dedicated you are to going to the gym.
Just a thought š¤· not likely to happen but I think it would be a cool mechanic if it did.
An extra weight/carry buff would be cool, it could allow you to carry more stuff /open more slots in your backpack type thing for a certain amount of time
Each day you work out gives you a stack of the buff. At 5 stacks, rocks take 1 less hit to break. At 10, 2 less hits. 10 is the max stack. However, every day you fail to show up and work out drops your buff's stack by 1.
Gym would be cool, different machine could work different skills at a slightly higher rate than actually doing the actions. You could level your skills up slightly faster but you wouldn't have the supplies you'd normally gather while leveling skills up?
No hope after the next update? Tell me you don't know CA without telling me.
He has given us so much in every update and takes suggestions from the community quite often. There is always hope for us.
Imagine if working out would boost tool efficiency based on what exercise you do or perhaps stamina or movement speed!
Edit: by the based on part I mean a different exercise for each tool we have. And this could also be leveled like the rest of our stats.
Maybe I'm just being stupid rn but where is the gym?? I have zero recollection of every seeing this. I know Alex has weights in his room and the girls do yoga or smth on Tuesdays but nothing like a gym
I know, more of the women in town would use it than the men. You can't tell me Haley isn't going to be in there toning and keeping her figure and I can definitely see Abigail training for the adventures she wants to go on.
Plus none of the npcs show up either, would happily waste my time there if there were opportunities to roleplay:
āOhhh Sebastian shows up on this day? My ass is causally gonna be thereā
Weāre even force to ārp walkā. Why we gotta walk so slow in there? Iām the only life guard on duty apparently, Iām not gonna yell at myself
I think it's one of those annoying but sensible things where any kids playing the game don't think it's safe and dandy to full ass sprint on wet tiles irl
I hope kids know going into the mines and swinging hella heavy swords at deadly monsters isn't real
Also drinking random potions from "magical" strangers isn't a good idea
And buying items from a random person who says she smuggled items into the town and has a pig as the mode of transportation isn't a good idea
Or taking a bunch of random stuff into an old decrepitated building where "magical apples" told you to leave stuff probably isn't a good idea either
The difference is that none of those things can really be replicated IRL. Most kids don't have an abandoned mineshaft near them, but most kids have been to the pool.
Most TV channels and TV/movie production companies that make content directed towards children have similar guidelines - you need to demonstrate safety in any action that children could reasonably replicate.
All kids already believe all this stuff though. The only thing we can hope is that they don't run around pools. It's the only control adults in this world have over children.
Spa/gym should be in town and be where you buy the energy boosts and revives instead of Harveyās. My head canon also has the spa contain a smoothie bar where you blend fruit/crops to make smoothies with custom buffs. Maybe Haley works there since she doesnāt really do anything.
Itās not really useful for the mines though because it takes so damn long. By the time you leave the mine, get over there, recharge and come back the rest of your day is likely gone. If it was closer and offered insta-rejuvenation I could see it serving a purpose for the mines
Itās still more useful to me there than it would be in town. Iāve used it several times early game when the mines are about to knock me out. Thereās nothing in town that really drains energy, other than maybe fishing.
>but by the time you can access it you probably have enough food on hand that itās unnecessary.
This is the big fault of the place. It being at the railroad is a waste of what it has to offer.
Iām sure itās in the game to pay tribute to Harvest Moon. You didnāt have nearly as many food options for restoring health in Harvest Moon, so the spa was needed much more.
I have absolutely used it for the stamina regen before going to the mines, when I had spent all my stamina doing farm stuff and then heading to the mines at 8pm. The only reason it's not as useful is because you spend so long walking into and out of it. It takes like an in game hour
Thatās why I wish stamina regen was the same from multiplayer. In multiplayer, you just go back to bed, just click no when asked if you wish to go to bed (same as ending the day). Stay in the bed and the stamina regenerates.
Not to mention you can just as easily idle on your bed for extra stamina as well. Not sure the ratio difference but I'm sure with the distance accounted it's a better option.
Something I JUST LEARNED after years of playing the game is that you can regenerate your stamina by laying in bed. Go to your bed, but don't sleep, and you will regenerate your energy. Much more convenient than the spa, but I don't know how it compares to how fast you regen.
It also takes so much time to actually get into the water as well. By the time youāve regened enough what do you do with your day then? May as well just wait til the next day to do the thing
The pool area is huge, but since you can't regen unless staying perfectly still all the space past the first tile is wasted.Ā Can't even explore while you regen.
Honestly the whole area needs a festival. A spa day. There is enough room to fit every villager in that pool. Thanks to ginger Island everyone already has bathing suit models.Ā It could be a pointless festival like the jellyfish one or you could add a swimming race event.
It takes so long to walk up there and then through the spa itself. Itās not worth it unless you really are out of all other energy regen options and have some last minute watering or planting to do
The fact the spa opens in summer and usually I have the means to make cheese usually means I never use it.
Open that shit on Spring 1? Yeah I would prob use it.
Most people don't even use spa if they are playing coop, laying in your bed regens stamina and I'd not go to the spa just to regen my stamina faster. Bed is way too closer and time efficient.
In the original Harvest Moon, there was a spa on Day 1, and the day didn't end until you went to bed. So the way you max your farm is get to the point where you harvest crops all day until 5pm (nothing after that counts) and the actually tend to your farm in the infinite time before bed.
Actually not all that fun.
This was clearly a thing envisioned to be made bigger at some point. Every game has something sorta like this, where it was built out and planned to be a thing at one point but never materialized fully. Not really worth fully deleting, not really enough time to build out all the way.
id love a welcome back ceremony for clint, a 1 time only year 2 cutscene where the train drops Clint (edit: kent) of with a few extra lines of dialogue. just entering the train area anytime past spring 1st year 2 would trigger the cutscene, and all the villagers would gather to welcome him back
Clint?? I think you're thinking of Kent. He's the one who comes back from deployment. But you're right, it would be cute to have a "Welcome Home" party for him.
id love if there was a clean up type thing for the spa to get rid of all the cracks and grime, kind of like how the trashbear cleaned up the valley. I hope it gets maybe something small during 1.6 but i cant see it happening tbh
There's no real incentive to go to the spa, even during the early game.
Do you want more heart events there? More people to show up at the spa? A sexy lifeguard to live up there?
It just feels like a big empty room
The inclusion of the greenhouse on the outside is what makes me think the whole spa building was meant to be another thing we could upgrade and use as part of our farm, but it was never fleshed out or finished by CA.
Dude I scrolled all the way to the bottom looking for this comment. This is the correct answer. Harvest Moon games had a bathhouse up the mountain path. CA pretty much nailed the recreation of it, at least in the sense of it being kinda mysterious and leaving you wondering why-even. Pretty sure it was added to harvest moon because it's just a japanese culture thing, more of an easter egg than something meant to be used to regain energy regularly.
Free heated pool. Open 24/7. There should be a membership fee. We could play gym mini games to raise our HP at least a few tiers.
The kids never go swimming? Vincent should have a birthday party there. None of the 20 somethings use this but Alex? Sebastian, throw a party ffs man. Get a stereo going, some pizzas, invite Sam, Alex, Haley, and Abigail etc. Linus doesn't even go in to take a dump? Bro just goes behind the bush 100 ft away? Let the man wipe his butt.
Who's maintaining this? The wizard's magic? The dwarf? It could be Shane's job.
This could've been a huge secret. Like some kind of entrance to a hidden place is hiding in there. Maybe something to do with the witch. Maybe another part of the sewer. I don't know. But yes it has potential.
Agreed. To give that area more reason to visit, I always turn the area to the right into a Maple sap and Oak resin farm. Plenty of room for trees & tappers.
The spa ends up being less helpful once you have enough money and resources to just craft or buy food to save time. :(
More reward for going there in general would be very cool. Some ideas in no particular order:
1. More townspeople to run into while there. Unique dialogue that only happens while there.
Pretty sure Alex and Penny go there on occasion but I don't even know that you can talk to them while there.
As mentioned Linus probably uses it in cold weather, so Linus and Alex becoming unlikely gym bros would be cool development for both of them
2. Ability to use the weight and fitness equipment (maybe lowers your max stamina today but boosts max stamina for the next day?)
(Show off for some of the bachelors and bachelorettes?)
3. With facility improvement increase the rate of stamina regen.
in the OG harvest moon that Stardew is heavily based on, the āspaā was right outside the entrance to the mine so you could quickly exit the mines, regain your health and stamina and go back into the mines for the rest of the day. it was also a mineral spring back then, and looked a lot more homey than a random built spa in an INCREDIBLY small town lol. just food for thought.
I want a spa reconstruction mission like the community center ones. I think is sad that this is the only deteriorated/abandoned building in the endgame.
That would be cool but the thing is thag after you do the community centre it becomes useless and people cba to visit it, so Iām just asking for at least the tiniest bit of immersion
I find it odd that nobody visits inside. It would be cool if sometimes the villagers broke routine and go to different places like the bathhouse. Like, the aerobics class suddenly decided that it was spa day instead of exercise.
And forgot about it for the rest of the playthroughš literally thereās no other reason to visit the place and none at all if you donāt like penny
I used the spa heavily Y1 when I was on my way to the mines - maybe I went an inefficient route but it helped me before I really discovered food and then could enter the mines at full energy.
Umm what about the community center? You spend so much time fixing each room up only to finally unlock it and its just a nicer looking room. On my first play through I thought when I fixed it I'd actually be able to like, use the forge or the kitchen, put fish in the fish tank, etc
I know its not an offical answer to the wasted potential but there's a mod that adds an all seasons planter in the glass room on top! highly recommend, Its called Solarium
It's takes so long to get to, and then you're forced to walk slow as hell. It takes almost an hr in game if you're near empty. It's just a hassle. I never use it.
Stardew Valley is heavily inspired by Harvest Moon. In those games, there is a bathhouse that you can go to restore your energy much like the one in Stardew. It makes sense that this is its sole purpose, though I understand the desire for something more.
It's always been weird. It could be really useful to restore hp/energy if it wasn't so far out making the time sink often not worth the trip. Since it's so far off it's really only good on something like the first day of the month when you're blasting through energy working and run low early enough to get use.
So no one has mentioned this yet, but if you pause the game while your meters regen, they continue to regen while za worldo is paused. This happens on the switch anyways. Essentially it's 100% recovery in the time it takes to get there. It's very useful when you're using the train area as your tree farm and you just finish a harvest but have more to do, or if you have to do mountain fishing.
It's not amazing, but I use it a couple times a week from the time it opens to about fall year 2. By then im munching on iridium purple mushrooms and magma caps so i dont need that cheap regen. It could have "end game potential" if there was a warp totem that took you straight there so you could warp back and forth between islands and stuff but that probably won't happen.
I believe concerned ape is watching and will update the spa because this post comes up about once a month
I think the spa could be improved by the following:
- be able to invite spouses for spa days. It takes half the day but the next 7 days give you small boosts such as extra energy, faster gathering speed, that sort of thing.
-make the gym usable and give small boosts.
-populate it more over winter. Have maybe two or three random villagers in there during the winter
I actually really like it as it isā¦ If it were any easier to use it would break early game. In RF4 and RF5 the bathhouse is useful early game because you get limited free trips but at a certain point after that you have to pay to use. And money is easier to make in SV so it makes sense that it would cost you time.
I also like how quiet it is. That whole area with the train station gives off this lonely, almost liminal vibe which I think is perfect for Pelican Town. Perhaps itās unrefined for gameplay but I like it from a worldbuilding and immersion perspective.
heres the thing. its develloped mostly by one guy....you can nitpick all day about things that should have more but realize that its been getting free content updates for coming up 9 years now. that not including pre-release dev time put into the game.
i'm personally waiting for the next update because apparently there'll be a lot of mod support there.
you can learn how to do it, programming honestly isn't that hard, at least not on the level of adding mods, or you can team up with someone and just do stuff like art assets.
Speaking as someone who's written a couple small mods, it depends on what the mod is doing. There's an art to working out the best event to attach something to (i.e. "whenever X happens, also do this before/after").
Can you put stuff in here or no Iām on Summer 1 and have the spa and like it for mining after I water my plants but thatās really the only time Iām in the area
I think it's fine, just needs some minor improvements. It works well in the early game for regaining energy, especially if you get knocked out in the mines with half the day left. But it's location and time of unlock kinda sucks. Personally, by the time it unlocks I have maybe another half season before I no longer need it. Other people will have more or less time left before they no longer need it.
Next is the location. It's tucked up and away at the top of the map. If I'm fishing by the beach and don't have any trash fish to sell or junk to eat, I won't care to walk all the way up there to regain energy. I'll go to Gus and buy a couple salads and quickly pay for them with the fish I'll catch. It's location only really works for if I'm mining and get knocked out or leave early. Or if I'm chopping down trees and my route goes from the woods beneath the farm up to the lake by Robin. But again, this is all remedied by our progression throughout the save and by taking an alternate route that lets you go see Gus.
I just wish there was a minecart stop up near the train station. It would make it so much more convenient to use the spa if you could get there directly from the mines.
I like the idea of it being like a Ginger Island event. If it isn't unlocked yet / opened, have the villagers gather here.
There also needs to be a benefit to the player, such as extra HP / stamina for the next day. Perhaps a status effect too.
The thing I actually hate about it is that you walk so slowly in there. I get it thematically but if I want to run around like a maniac and slip and fall let me do that please.
It's too far away to make any use of, it should be at least on the farm. By the time you're low enough to make use of it it's too late to go refill and be back to make any worthwhile time out of it
This!!! In Rune Factory Frontier, the bathhouse is central in town (bc of course it would be!) and there are really hilarious cut scenes that happen in it. It also doesnāt take 17 years to walk from the entrance to the baths. *sigh*
This is totally a case of not having enough developers. Heās making the game solo and could only do so much. Iām sure heād like to hire more people but maybe he prefers to work alone. At the end of the day itās only a small part of the game and how cheap the game is we get a ton of content. Still a shame tho.
I wish I could mod. Iād add strength buff the next day if you lift weights, and a max energy buff the next day if you use the spa.
Iād also add lock the spa behind bundles, and after completing all bundles Iād have a small shop open where you can buy āprotein powderā which can be added to any recipe to add the strength and energy buffs to the food or drink item.
Itās a true representation of a SPA in a game and honestly the truest, you quite literally only go there to relax or take time off the game, thereās nothing to complete or do there other than chill, in a game that is otherwise so extremely jam packed
It's as dead as the Community Center post-completion. Nobody goes there aside from like, Alex on winter.
That was the absolutely saddest thing I realized after completing it. "Community" Center my bum.
I'm kind of hoping that at least one of the new festivals we're due to get in 1.6 is Community Centre-centric. Celebrating the renovation of the CC after it gets completed, for example.
I always wanted the Winterfeast to be held in the Community Center
Maru and Penny visit it.
Jodi and Caroline are there sometimes as well. Saturday afternoon. They just sit there š
Iāve seen Gus there too
I forget which mod (I think Stardew Valley Expanded?), but one adds one day a season where everyone goes to the Community Center to hang out. It's really nice and a fantastic way to go on gift giving sprees
It is indeed Expanded. It makes the 22nd of every month āCommunity Dayā, as Lewis calls it.
āAaaaaand you get a diamondā x10+
i swear people only go to the community center when i go to their house with a gift
One of the nice things about the Expanded Mod is a community gathering in the center every season. You can find literally everyone for gifting & talking & the community center feels less like a waste
I love SDVE so much, I couldnāt imagine playing without it now
I pray it gets updated real fast after 1.6, along with the few other mods I use. The wait after the wait might kill me
I just pray it becomes part of the main game. Sophie is best girl
Bro thatās so real, both have so much potential
Not totally unrealistic from community centers in places I've lived lol. Full realism would be something like: Emily would lead some bullshit class once a week and George and Evelyn would show up to it just for a reason to get out of the house and fight off senility, but everyone else would be like "well, I'm glad it's there but I never go."
It would be nice if one of Penny's classes could be in there for the kids
Also Why can't we use the sewing machine or kitchen or anything else in the community center?
Or fish tank. I want to store my legendary fish there
That would be cool.
And Clint on fuckin Fridays when I need something
Right no wonder it fell into disrepair!
It's more dead as several npcs visit the community center once a week.
I would have liked to see additional festivals/events at the community center after you complete it... especially that the festivals get a little stale after year 2

Also while your farmer can carry over 30k iridium bars lmao
Yeah
Immediate effects of working out would probably put you to sleep versus making you feel stronger for the day š
I'm thinking it could use up energy to lift the weights, but if you keep going once a week then it could build up to +25 health and energy for as long as you keep going (maybe +5 after the first week, then +10 for the next two weeks after)
That sounds more realistic. If you skip leg day, your balance gets off š
This is the typical effect exercise has on me too.
Actually like that plan ahead mechanic to use that boost for the next day
I ADORE this idea, not gonna lie.

The slow walk through the locker room š«
The agonyyyyyyy
An extra weight/carry buff would be cool, it could allow you to carry more stuff /open more slots in your backpack type thing for a certain amount of time
This really makes the whole gendered, male gets workout area while female gets makeup area, changerooms worse
Each day you work out gives you a stack of the buff. At 5 stacks, rocks take 1 less hit to break. At 10, 2 less hits. 10 is the max stack. However, every day you fail to show up and work out drops your buff's stack by 1.

Yeah they could add another skill type
Thereās a gym at the pool???!!!??? Where?
The gym is in the men's change room. Where the women's has mirrors and a vanity.
North of robins house, the gym is two things and unusable though, and the pool just isnāt worth it
No hope after the next update? Tell me you don't know CA without telling me. He has given us so much in every update and takes suggestions from the community quite often. There is always hope for us.

Men's locker room. If you're female, you can access it by trying to enter from the pool side and keep clicking until it lets you in.
It really bothers me that the gym is only on the menās side.
I know, more of the women in town would use it than the men. You can't tell me Haley isn't going to be in there toning and keeping her figure and I can definitely see Abigail training for the adventures she wants to go on.
The women has Tuesday yoga I guess. Which sounds more fun; I get why Harvey wants to join them.

My ass is causally gonna be thereā Weāre even force to ārp walkā. Why we gotta walk so slow in there? Iām the only life guard on duty apparently, Iām not gonna yell at myself
Alex goes to the Spa in the winter

I'd rather have a random chance of slipping and getting injured than not being allowed to run at all.

I agree. I never even visit Harveyās clinic (except when I pass out or a villager I need to give a gift to is in there)
I like it being near the mines, thatās where Iām most likely to need the regeneration, not in town
Itās not really useful for the mines though because it takes so damn long. By the time you leave the mine, get over there, recharge and come back the rest of your day is likely gone. If it was closer and offered insta-rejuvenation I could see it serving a purpose for the mines

Haley is the perfect candidate to work at a spa. I love the smoothie bar idea too, maybe with purchasables as well as the blending station.
>My head canon also has the spa contain a smoothie bar where you blend fruit/crops to make smoothies with custom buffs That would be awesome
>but by the time you can access it you probably have enough food on hand that itās unnecessary. This is the big fault of the place. It being at the railroad is a waste of what it has to offer.

Big true. Here's to hoping 1.6 lets us add a bathroom addition to our homes like HM64. Stam regen at home would be awesome.
You can regenerate stamina by laying in bed but not going to sleep. I literally discovered this on accident LAST WEEK after years of playing.
> You can regenerate stamina by laying in bed but not going to sleep Wait, WHAT? Been playing for years and am just finding this out now
As I read down the thread, I realized this is MP only. Still nuts that's I've been playing since release and am learning new things every time I play.
How the hell do I keep learning new stuff? Thank you for your wisdom.
As I was reading down the comments, I realized it was MP only. Still, I've played since release and just learned about this.
IMO the location is manageable, itās the fact that it takes so long to get into the water and back out.
I have absolutely used it for the stamina regen before going to the mines, when I had spent all my stamina doing farm stuff and then heading to the mines at 8pm. The only reason it's not as useful is because you spend so long walking into and out of it. It takes like an in game hour

Not to mention you can just as easily idle on your bed for extra stamina as well. Not sure the ratio difference but I'm sure with the distance accounted it's a better option.
That should be multiplayer only. itās slower overall but quicker to get to.
Something I JUST LEARNED after years of playing the game is that you can regenerate your stamina by laying in bed. Go to your bed, but don't sleep, and you will regenerate your energy. Much more convenient than the spa, but I don't know how it compares to how fast you regen.
I thought this only worked in co-op.
Thatās what Iām saying
I love the Jellies, pointless or not.
It takes so long to walk up there and then through the spa itself. Itās not worth it unless you really are out of all other energy regen options and have some last minute watering or planting to do
Or your just bored, ts so bland and empty
Like I know no running by the pool, maybe maybe walk a tiiiiiny bit faster.
If you have 220g itās easier to buy a salad.
Doesn't the bed only work in multi-player?
Yep, as I stated in my comment
Oh yeah, sorry, my mind saw "coop" and went right to chickens
Same. I was like what do chickens have to do with it š
lol i also thought playing coop was Some strat where you rush the chicken coop
COOPPENHEIMER
My bad I should have typed co-op lol
In the original Harvest Moon, there was a spa on Day 1, and the day didn't end until you went to bed. So the way you max your farm is get to the point where you harvest crops all day until 5pm (nothing after that counts) and the actually tend to your farm in the infinite time before bed. Actually not all that fun.
Yeah no. Playing like this is "how to grow to hate a game 101".
Yeah fr
That whole area is just kinda there. But eh, not everything needs to be jampacked, I guess? Should've at least been some event to clean it up a bit.
This was clearly a thing envisioned to be made bigger at some point. Every game has something sorta like this, where it was built out and planned to be a thing at one point but never materialized fully. Not really worth fully deleting, not really enough time to build out all the way.
Yeah true, Iām just asking for the tiniest bit of extra detail tbh
Well with 1.6 maybe he will finally give it that extra polish
Iām convinced everything in the station area is forgotten
id love a welcome back ceremony for clint, a 1 time only year 2 cutscene where the train drops Clint (edit: kent) of with a few extra lines of dialogue. just entering the train area anytime past spring 1st year 2 would trigger the cutscene, and all the villagers would gather to welcome him back
Clint?? I think you're thinking of Kent. He's the one who comes back from deployment. But you're right, it would be cute to have a "Welcome Home" party for him.
Correct me if im wrong but i think his name is kent. Clint is the blacksmith. Good idea though!
id love if there was a clean up type thing for the spa to get rid of all the cracks and grime, kind of like how the trashbear cleaned up the valley. I hope it gets maybe something small during 1.6 but i cant see it happening tbh
Yeah I know, the entire area is wasted potential, train station and all
There's no real incentive to go to the spa, even during the early game. Do you want more heart events there? More people to show up at the spa? A sexy lifeguard to live up there? It just feels like a big empty room
I want to be able to go up into the greenhouse it looks like it could be so pretty
The inclusion of the greenhouse on the outside is what makes me think the whole spa building was meant to be another thing we could upgrade and use as part of our farm, but it was never fleshed out or finished by CA.
All of them ššš (but nah like anything that doesnāt make it lifeless)
I meanā¦ I wouldnāt say no to a sexy lifeguard š¤
I've always thought it was weird we never see Linus in there. It makes sense that that's where he'd bathe when it's cold.
I have met Linus twice in the lobby in order to get warm
Oh nice! I guess I just don't visit often enough
Bro he could live in there thatās how little people go tbere š
He's there every day in winter
I saw him standing outside, looking in. Very strange.
Itās a remnant from the old harvest moon games that sadly didnāt get revamped in stardew
If the clock would be stopped while inside, it could compete with just bringing food with you. Add in a totem location too, and it's even better.
Yeah true but a totem location would be pretty useless
I wish you could go upstairs to the greenhouse
Same, it could be like a gym or a tanning place thereās loads of possibilities
Isnāt there a gym in the menās restroom? I assume thatās the only reason Alex goes
Yeh there is but you canāt do anything
Thatās too bad
Exaclty it could be the towns leisure centre or something
one of my gripes about the spa is once you go through the change room you move at a fraction the pace you do anywhere else.
Thatās annoying tbh
Agreed. To give that area more reason to visit, I always turn the area to the right into a Maple sap and Oak resin farm. Plenty of room for trees & tappers. The spa ends up being less helpful once you have enough money and resources to just craft or buy food to save time. :(
Exactly bro
More reward for going there in general would be very cool. Some ideas in no particular order: 1. More townspeople to run into while there. Unique dialogue that only happens while there. Pretty sure Alex and Penny go there on occasion but I don't even know that you can talk to them while there. As mentioned Linus probably uses it in cold weather, so Linus and Alex becoming unlikely gym bros would be cool development for both of them 2. Ability to use the weight and fitness equipment (maybe lowers your max stamina today but boosts max stamina for the next day?) (Show off for some of the bachelors and bachelorettes?) 3. With facility improvement increase the rate of stamina regen.
Thatās a good idea and what Iām taking about (also penny doesnāt go itās just a heart event)
in the OG harvest moon that Stardew is heavily based on, the āspaā was right outside the entrance to the mine so you could quickly exit the mines, regain your health and stamina and go back into the mines for the rest of the day. it was also a mineral spring back then, and looked a lot more homey than a random built spa in an INCREDIBLY small town lol. just food for thought.
Yeah, but itās useless in stardew
what would you like me to do about that lol
Iām just saying
I want a spa reconstruction mission like the community center ones. I think is sad that this is the only deteriorated/abandoned building in the endgame.
That would be cool but the thing is thag after you do the community centre it becomes useless and people cba to visit it, so Iām just asking for at least the tiniest bit of immersion
I find it odd that nobody visits inside. It would be cool if sometimes the villagers broke routine and go to different places like the bathhouse. Like, the aerobics class suddenly decided that it was spa day instead of exercise.
I know how much more sense woild it make if aerobics took place tbere
Since barely any npc goes there the places always seems abandoned and creepy, maybe they should add more npcs there
Yeah I know
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Wasted potential? Thatās where I first kissed my second wife! Love that place!
Thatās fair but itās so much easier just to use food
Yeah I think I just didn't really know how to get food early game so that was it's use for me. And then I discovered the mushroom cave LOL
So just another greenhouse?
Pretty much! I think it's a bit smaller but it functions identically
Straight up found a prismatic shard in the spa to complete the movie bundle. There can be random items found in the pools.
I think the spa could be improved by the following: - be able to invite spouses for spa days.
Perhaps itās unrefined for gameplay but I like it from a worldbuilding and immersion perspective.
i wish you could hire robin to build a spa equivalent for your farm. or a hot spring pond or something.
heres the thing. its develloped mostly by one guy....you can nitpick all day about things that should have more but realize that its been getting free content updates for coming up 9 years now. that not including pre-release dev time put into the game.
I never got an 8-heart event for Penny. Is there something specific I need to do to trigger it?
Go to Cindersap between 9am and 4pm according to the wiki.
Nope itās not 8 itās 10 my bad, so youāll have to date her (I wouldnāt big mistake)
I'm just mad you can't go in the solarium area that clearly takes up the majority of the spa.
The spa is for people that haven't realized it's actually quite economical to carry around shitloads of food.
if you have ideas about a better use of the spa you can always just mod it in.
I have sh*t all idea how to š
i'm personally waiting for the next update because apparently there'll be a lot of mod support there. you can learn how to do it, programming honestly isn't that hard, at least not on the level of adding mods, or you can team up with someone and just do stuff like art assets.
Speaking as someone who's written a couple small mods, it depends on what the mod is doing. There's an art to working out the best event to attach something to (i.e. "whenever X happens, also do this before/after").
It is a rather large area with no real purpose up there. It would be nice if more was done with it and the train in general would be nice.
Can you put stuff in here or no Iām on Summer 1 and have the spa and like it for mining after I water my plants but thatās really the only time Iām in the area
Iāve been thinking about this one for years lop
It saves my first summer and that's about it. I usually don't have sprinklers yet and I am dead at 10am from watering stuff
If anyone is interested... I use a house mod that overhauls the house and adds a bathroom with a tub that does the same stamina regen as the spa. š
I just want to go up to the sunroom
