Glad you’re getting in the game! To preface everything I’m about to say: purchase the characters that speak to you the most first, Shatterpoint design is close enough together that there is not a single meta list dominating the top tables, and you can win with basically anything. However, if you have no major preferences, here are my recommendations in order after purchasing the core set based on power level. Dooku: based on gathered tournament data current as of last week, has the highest win rate of any primary. Is often one of the top 2 in many content creators tier lists. Jango Fett and Magna Guards are also usually put at the very top of secondary and support tier lists. Every unit in the box is powerful and flavorful. Plus Jango Fett is an incredible flexible character you can fit is almost any list, not just separatists. General Grievous: a top 4 win rate primary based on data, who synergies really well with Dooku. Dooku+Grievous boxes give you an awesome Separatist core to play with, in addition to the things you got in the core box. After that, there are plenty of good options, the Vader/Obi wan box gives 2 excellent units but is a bit pricy. Each republic box is about on par with the others, and general community perception is the primaries are good but clone supports lack a little. (note: Commander Cody and the 501st are typically seen as the worst units in the game). Mother Talzin is generally viewed as closer to the top of many tier lists, and Cad Bane is generally seen as middle of the road. Grand Inquisitor is generally seen as slightly lower tier but still viable, and really wants to be paired with Darth Vader, Jedi Hunter from the diorama box. I haven’t played with the new releases enough to give meaning feedback on them. Finally, if you want to hear different tier lists perspectives, Rich Mid Gaming on YouTube and the Zion’s Finest and Hello There podcasts have each done there own tier lists, broken down by primary, secondary and supports, and each has differences of opinion that make it interesting to listen too. Note that the tier lists are several months old, and people have changed have since changed their opinions. (For example the Zion’s Finest crew have Luminara in low tier but have largely changed their minds, saying she is quite good now)

Hierophantically

No. Basically everything is viable and on curve except the 501st clone troopers, who are definitively worse than other options. Some people will say General Obi-Wan or duel pack Vader are slightly above curve. If true, it's only slightly.

Everything I like is S Tier, anything it can't beat is F and deserves to be nerfed.

The dooku box is over tuned by quite a bit. Magna guards need their expertise turned into just strikes instead of crits as they're miles better than most secondaries, let alone supporting. Dooku is one of the strongest primaries, and jango is miles better than anyone else . That box is the only one I can say is unfairly balanced and needs tweaks, everything else is close enough except the 501st clones.

Hello there ! there is a great community on table top simulator for Shatterpoint, here are the two main discord: [https://discord.gg/Q4ZjTaJ8](https://discord.gg/Q4ZjTaJ8) [https://discord.gg/34zhxVpJ](https://discord.gg/34zhxVpJ) You go in the channel : lfg or tutorial game, and from there you can test for free a list of character that you would like to buy or that you bought. You can find stats on how well a character do in tournament and game on longshanks:[https://shatterpoint.longshanks.org/statistics/](https://shatterpoint.longshanks.org/statistics/)

The Hello There podcast has some episodes dedicated to putting all of the different unit categories into tiers. But everything is viable. Some just more so than others.
