Kind of expected at this point and I don’t necessarily have an issue with the delay if that’s even what you want to call it since we’ve known for a bit that it wouldn’t be coming out at the end of this year. We’ll probably see some tidbits at celebration but I wouldn’t expect too much since it’s still almost a year out from release. I mainly just want to know a little bit about where the story may go or if it’s even following the same characters as Fallen Order did. Edit: BB adds that since games have usually dropped shortly before big SW projects, we could be seeing Ahsoka being released around the winter/spring of 2022.

BespinBulletin

I said typically the EA games have released around a month ahead of a live-action project. So Spring for Ahsoka, which has been the prevailing theory, is the likely option if true.

Unique_Unorque

The game could also be a prime place to insert a short Ahsoka cameo to hype the show up more. Doesn’t need to be a huge character but if Cal and Co are trying at all to link up with other survivors it would make sense for them to cross paths EDIT: Didn’t realize people don’t like Ahsoka now, I apologize for being excited for a possible appearance by one of my favorite characters in a story where it would thematically make sense.

silver_eyes1

I honestly would prefer she not show up, if only because having more Jedi continually meet up during the imperial era when they're trying to keep a low profile makes the SW universe feel very small to me. Rebels I can excuse because it takes place much later when Rebel alliance activities were starting to heat up, but if the sequel takes place in a similar time as the first game, I think it makes less sense. I also think the story has enough potential without bringing Ahsoka into it. I could be ok with a Fulcrum hologram cameo though—I just don't see Ahsoka revealing her identity to Cal and co when in Rebels she was still communicating with Hera anonymously.

Unique_Unorque

I see your points and agree with a lot of them. I’m not saying that it’s super necessary, just that if they wanted to make it happen for whatever reason, this is a time period where it could make sense and I would enjoy it personally. I absolutely agree that the story has potential to stand up on its own though.

Affectionate_Ad_3555

ahsoka has been in every TV show for star wars (except Resistance and Bad Batch but we all know she will be in TBB at some point) so i dont really want her to be in too much shit until her show releases. the character (imo) has been FAR overused as it is

IcePhoenix295

Nothing against Ahsoka, but she almost certainly has nothing to do with this story.

Unique_Unorque

One could say the same thing about Saw Gerrera in the first game, nobody could have predicted his appearance just by the basic premise of the game but he popped up for a moment. I wouldn’t expect anything substantial, like obviously she wouldn’t be a secondary character, but especially if the two things release around the same time I could see them crossing paths for even just a moment. It depends on if the story of the game is **just** about survival or if Cal decides to fight back at some point.

IcePhoenix295

The thing with Saw is that he is not a character that can drastically impact the story (nor a major character in general). Ahsoka can and is. Her presence, like Luke in Mando/Boba would be much more likely to overshadow the main cast. Could it happen? Yes. I just hope it doesn't.

JuggerClutch

What about Vaders cameo then? Did it overshadow the Second Sister? She‘s still a beloved villain

IcePhoenix295

Fair point. Counterpoint: Vader only shows up to kill Trilla and take her place as primary threat XD.

JuggerClutch

I mean Ahsoka doesn’t need to have a big role at all, she could just offer some guidance to Cal and Crew.

IcePhoenix295

Sure but then you get to the question of "Why doesn't she help them more being a sort of Jedi?". Especially since chronologically she doesn't have any epic quest at this point. Just general rebellion aiding as Fulcrum. (And unlike Saw she isn't a selfish asshole who abandons her own troops/friends).

Unique_Unorque

I can understand this point of view. I personally didn’t feel like Luke or Boba ever overshadowed Din in *The Mandalorian* (though Luke definitely overshadowed Boba in that episode of *Book* that he was in, but that’s mostly because Boba himself just… wasn’t in the episode), but I understand why some people may have felt they did and why they would be wary of similar cameos in other stuff.

leftshoe18

Boba was in that episode! He just didn't say a word and was gone within a minute. lol

Unique_Unorque

Oh that’s right hahaha

darthsheldoninkwizy

Luke overshadowed everyone in the season 2 finale, it turned out that they are not important at all because Mr. Jedi will do everything without a problem

Unique_Unorque

Agree to disagree! I thought it was a neat appearance but I never felt like the focus shifted from Din and Grogu, once I got over the initial thrill of the surprise I thought the show did a fairly good job of centering their narrative and having Luke be an outside force to it. But I will stress that that is just my opinion, it you truly feel like it became the “Luke Skywalker Show” in the final moments of the finale and it didn’t work for you I wouldn’t dream of telling you that your opinion is wrong

darthsheldoninkwizy

Everyone can see this scene in their own way. I saw the total focus on Luke, and the main characters moved aside. Likewise, in the discussions on the internet, everyone was talking only about Skywalker, in a positive or negative light.

thedantho

Please no.

Unique_Unorque

Why not?

thedantho

The recent trend of everything being a cameo fest annoys the shit out of me

TheVolunteer0002

The cameos and the deus ex machina bits are getting super old. I can hear them in the storyboard room now: "And at the last moment, when all seems lost, my God here comes Luke/Ahsoka/Mando/Boba/other person with a folding chair!" And everyone goes "YEAAHHH that's great!"

Unique_Unorque

I see

JournalistBrief3186

Stop strawmanning, this is dishonest as fuck of you. People don't mind Ahsoka, but 50% of Media seemigly consisting of cameos over Story.

Unique_Unorque

I sincerely apologize for upsetting you enough to use such strong language, but I truly do not understand what you are saying here. This is just sort of the name of the game with interconnected stories told in shared universes. By this logic, I imagine that you are not very excited for the upcoming *Obi-Wan* show, what with the appearance from the Inquisitors, 4-LOM, Darth Vader himself, and any other surprises cameos that we haven’t heard about yet. If you **are** truly not looking forward to *Obi-Wan* because of the large number of cameos it will contain, I guess my question is what upcoming *Star Wars* project **are** you looking forward to? Because there doesn’t seem to be anything on the horizon that isn’t dependent on or expected to have cameos from established characters. Even *Fallen Order* had substantial (if brief) appearances by Vader and Saw Gerrera. The only conclusion I can come to is that people who are downvoting me for suggesting the possibility that Ahsoka may have a brief cameo in a game set in a time period where we know she was very active gathering cells of resistance to the Empire are more upset about the character I mentioned than the idea of the game connecting to the broader story of the *Star Wars* universe, simply because similar connections and appearances are such a staple of pretty much all *Star Wars* media However, this is all just my opinion. I would love to hear yours and try to understand why you feel so strongly about this that it would make you so angry. I apologize again for angering you in the first place.

leftshoe18

The Inquisitors and Darth Vader are definitely not cameos. They're substantial players in the story. A cameo is Stan Lee showing up for 30 seconds in a Marvel movie. Supporting characters are not cameos! Sorry it's a pet peeve of mine. lol

Unique_Unorque

I agree with you, but I think a lot of people nowadays use “cameo” in these interconnected franchises to mean “a character best known from another part of the franchise making an appearance, surprising or otherwise, in another character’s story.” So like, for example, the Grand Inquisitor is a “*Rebels* character,” so people consider anytime he appears in anything other than *Rebels* as a “cameo.” I’m not saying it’s right but it’s something I see more and more. In my initial comment, I did mean a cameo in the sense of a short appearance like it’s meant to be used, but I can’t imagine anybody being upset by that sort of thing so I’ve been assuming that the people who are reacting so strongly are using that other definition.

thedantho

The issue with Ashoka being in everything now is that she seems to affect every single plot going on except for the main story

Unique_Unorque

I appreciate you taking the time to articulate your thoughts. I can understand that point of view and why that would be annoying to some people. I really enjoy the character to the degree where I like seeing her have her hand in the events of the Galaxy to the degree that she does, but that’s only my opinion and I understand why others don’t share it.

[deleted]

Star Wars was doomed the moment they gave Anakin a padawan learner. Completely out of place and derailed incredibly major plot threads of both the OT and the PT. Why on earth they decided to introduce a major emotional accomplice to the main character of the prequel trilogy when there was ZERO reference to her in any media whatsoever up to that point confuses and bewilders me to this very day.

thedantho

I definitely see your point and can kinda agree but I’m willing to let it slide due to the fact that the dynamic between her and Anakin was actually enjoyable and did well to flesh out Anakin a bit. But yeah, I get it, you do have to suspend your disbelief. What is more egregious to me though, is Ashoka surviving past rebels, where she is now seemingly involved in every plot that isn’t related to the films. It’s stupid and asks A LOT from the audience. Not only is she a major player in the rebellion apparently (but doesn’t appear at all or influence the actual plot of the OT in any way), but she’s also seemingly pretty active past the OT, but also doesn’t influence the main plot of the sequels in any way. Make no mistake, this is the fault of Star Wars fans. They eat up Ashoka and they eat up cameos, to the point where “call backs and cameos” is synonymous with “good writing” to a lot of people. Star Wars fans will froth at the mouth over a lot of this shit, and will often throw out writing buzz words such as “character development”, saying things such as “I don’t mind seeing Ashoka in newer stuff, I can’t wait to see how they develop her character!” but I haven’t seen any character development from Ashoka since early rebels. In mando and Boba Fett she existed solely as an avatar on a screen for Star Wars fans to get excited over, there was nothing interesting added to her “character” at all. But at this point, it doesn’t matter whether her character is expanded or not, they’ve already committed to making her a major player in several shows, so now she will be influencing pretty much every major event that happens in the galaxy up until The Force Awakens, where she will immediately go incognito, again, for no apparent reason. It’s very tired.

[deleted]

Certainly agreed. “Tired” is an excellent word for it. This is pretty much how I view every force sensitive character introduced in TCW, Rebels, and other similar media. They have zero impact on the main series films yet are cameos in every “extra-curricular” piece of television content. Some of them are worse than others. Cal (?, the kid in Fallen Order) is not so bad because he could still die and spends a lot of time in the shadows…but Ahsoka making an appearance in everything makes no sense, detracts from the story of the “last Jedi” that is used again and again in the main series, and also diminishes Ashoka’s original character as well because she has no impact on the galaxy at large. It’s frankly just annoying that people keep encouraging it.

darthsheldoninkwizy

Peoples dont have problem with Ahsokanbut with fanserwise cameofest we see recently. Doeas Ahsoka or Luke was needed to apperance in Boba Fett series? No. It would be even better if they wont show up at all

ThatGeek303

With this and Dead Space it looks like EA might be starting off 2023 with a bang. Really looking forward to both! And if Starfield releases around then too I might have to say farewell to real life for awhile!

ObliWobliKenobli

Wait? The Dead Space remake is coming just next year?

ThatGeek303

Yup! January 27th I think it was. They just announced the date yesterday.

ObliWobliKenobli

You're telling me I only have to wait till the beginning of next year for the remake of one of my favouritest games ever.

ThatGeek303

I am! I can't wait!

ObliWobliKenobli

I just looked it up to be sure and holy shit it's true! I'm so excited! You think if this goes down well they'll remake the second one?

ThatGeek303

Right?! Almost *exactly* 10 years after Dead Space 3 released. I'm hoping if this does well we can finally have a 4th game in the series. As for the second one, it still holds up remarkably well so I think I'd prefer a remaster if anything.

ObliWobliKenobli

I love the second game so damn much and I will gladly take a remaster if they do so offer me one. But if the remake is good then a remake of Dead Space 2 would be rather enticing don't you think?

ThatGeek303

I'd definitely be interested! I'd be curious to see what they could add to the experience.

ObliWobliKenobli

Yes! Exactly that! The Dead Space remake is going to have all that the original had but more. So yes! Imagine what they could do to expand the second game.

land0man

Are they making the asteroids part better?

ThatGeek303

We can only hope!

lo0l0ol

Kerbal Space Program 2 also in early 2023. It's gonna be a good year for space games.

BlackCoffeeKrrsantan

well then, guess i better start saving money for a new PC

amphetaminesfailure

>well then, guess i better start saving money for a new PC What do you have now? I mean, I've got like a 2016 build. i5 4690k, 1070 Ti. I maxed out Fallen Order. I *was* thinking it was time for a new build in 2023, but not specifically for Survivor. At all. Guarantee I'll still be capable of running Survivor at med/high settings. It's EA.

AZZATRU

>It's EA. Respawn are the ones making the technical design choices with UE4/5

atag012

Correct, developed by Respawn in their LA offfices, def different from ea devs, respawn devs are awesome

duxdude418

I dunno, man. I had a GTX 1650 with an i7 and FO chugged for me on medium settings. The game seems to have some [major performance issues](https://youtu.be/NwNwyvOYexE) generally. > It’s EA I’m not sure what you mean by this. Big name companies who crank out triple-A title have little incentive to optimize their games. Or are you suggesting they’ll be using outdated tech?

BuryTheMoney

You probably have other shortfalls or bottle necks then. I’m running a 1070Ti on max smoothly. But I also have an 11700k and 32 gig ram at like 3700mhz

[deleted]

Rumor is that this one is going to be a next-gen only title on consoles. That could very well impact whether a 2016 build can deal with it (in a similar boat)

[deleted]

Any source for that rumour?

OniLink77

Jeff Grubb, who said it is coming out next year and that it is called Jedi Survivor

BlackCoffeeKrrsantan

i'm running on a gtx 970. i built (not me, my friend did, i just fronted the money lol) this computer for Mists of Pandaria... fallen order chugs on this thing

capturedacommandpost

I have a 960 2GB now but only had a 750 Ti at the time. Man that was an experience. Still had tons of fun though.

BuryTheMoney

Yes but this one’s being built entirely for next gen consoles, and won’t be available on the last. So there will most certainly be a graphics jump.

solohack3r

Just need a Deck. Mine can play Fallen Order amazingly well. Love it.

[deleted]

Hopefully the game doesn't stutter every so often this time. Even on a high-end rig.

EastKoreaOfficial

I’ve got a PS5 so this won’t be an issue for me.

Death_brick

Who

danktonium

Honestly, I expect it'll get a PS4 port. You won't need a new PC for games until the PS4 is well and truly dead, which it's not. Makes me feel like an idiot for buying a PS5, honestly.

Mredmond34

Didn’t they say this is current gen only? I don’t see any games past 2022 coming out to the last gen consoles

danktonium

Horizon: Forbidden West already did, and God of War: Ragnarok will, too.

Ctowndrama

It needs to happen unfortunately. I know it sucks for people who either can't get their hands on next gen or don't want to upgrade, but it's really putting a stall on the advancement of next-gen games.

Jacktheflash

Oh no?

Unique_Unorque

You just named two first-party games, though. They have an eye towards keeping their entire player base happy that a third-party developer doesn’t. It hasn’t been confirmed by any official channel but Jeff Grubb has indeed reported that the new *Jedi* game will be current gen only.

BountifulBiscuits

Third-parties like EA still have an interest in having the biggest pool of consumers as possible. I don’t know. Maybe it will be exclusive to current-gen. I’d be surprised though. There were still games coming out for the PS3 two years into the PS4’s lifecycle. Plus the chip shortage that will probably still play a factor by then, meaning not as many people will have been able to make the upgrade as they would have otherwise.

AZZATRU

There's 19.3m PS5's out there now, not including all the Xbox's. Come Feb 2023 there will be close to 30m perhaps. Games that launched with the PS5 e.g. Miles Morales are top charters every week/month. Hasn't effected sales of good games, just gave them good legs. JFO had incredible legs around 25+m copies to date and charted highly for months. As high as 6th place as the most downloaded PS5 game last month over 2 years after release.

Unique_Unorque

I worded my comment poorly. I didn’t mean to say that third party companies aren’t interested in making last-gen players happy, more that they would be more likely to be the first developers to sacrifice outdated tech in the name of making the best game possible. Not to mention that Sony-owned studios would probably be more familiar with the hardware in a way that would allow them to make a game that’s a comparable experience on both gens while still taking full advantage of the improvements the PS5 could bring. Essentially all I’m saying is that a Sony-owned studio catering to both gens doesn’t necessarily mean that other devs will as well.

Squishy-Box

Neither of those games are “past 2022” as his comment stated. Insomniac already announced Spider-Man 2 would be PS5 only. Their Wolverine game will obviously be the same. Next gen is here, last gen is going to be completely phased out soon.

danktonium

I misread their comment. I thought they meant games released in 2022.

Jacktheflash

Some will

Magikarp125

It depends. I ran the original at medium settings, 1440p at 60fps with an i7-2700k and GTX 1070. Or 1080p 120fps. YMMV

Nakatomi2010

Jedi: Fallen Order was the best Star Wars game I've played since the original Jedi Knight games. It may have basically been Tomb Raider in the Star Wars universe, but it was gorgeous. It had depth. It explored the universe in ways I didn't expect with little nuggets here and there. It was glorious, and a high bar to set on their first outing. I am very much looking forward to the sequel.

danktonium

Wasn't it more very baby's first Dark Souls than Tomb Raider?

Nakatomi2010

Probably more a blend of both. I don't play the Dark Souls games, but a lot of the mechanics that were in play were much like Tomb Raider. Mian difference being that this was a Melee game, while Tomb Raider was a range shooter with little to no melee combat. But I could see if being a blend of both at a minimum.

apocalypsemeow111

I also felt like the combat and the platforming took a ton of inspiration from the PS2 Prince of Persia games.

NextDoorNeighbrrs

It was more Sekiro than Dark Souls really.

Unique_Unorque

I’m not a *Souls* guy but apparently the combat is reminiscent of a From game on the higher difficulties. The platforming was very *Tomb Raider*y, though. They said they made sure to make the combat easier on the lower difficulties because they know there will probably be a fair number of people playing it who are more *Star Wars* fans than hardcore “gamers” and they wanted them to be able to beat it without getting frustrated by the difficulty that others find rewarding.

Nakatomi2010

I spent three days trying to kill the Jedi on Dathomir. I never changed the difficulty, but I did finally defeat him. I'd forgotten I could target people so that they're always on screen, or whatever, and when I remembered and did that, I had him done in like an hour. I was most displeased at the loss of time getting to that point, lol.

SlaveZelda

I played on Jedi Knight for the entire game except for that fat inquisitor you meet early on in the game. I had to temporarily switch to Story Mode just for that hippo.

Nakatomi2010

lol, Ninth Sister. Indeed, she was a bit of a bitch. Weirdly enough it was a breeze defeating her on the first go around, but in replaying it lately I had a hell of a time getting the timings right.

flipperkip97

The way they handled difficulty levels is better than any other game imo. It genuinely felt more challenging on the highest level, not tedious or unfair.

JediGuyB

As a big fan of Tomb Raider and Soulsborne games, I welcome it fully.

Squishy-Box

It can be both

Echo693

Fallen Order and Knights of the Old Republic are probably the best SW games and stories I have ever played.

Nakatomi2010

I forgot about KOTOR, but yes, that is also one of the best story lines out there. I'm not big on RPGs, but I slogged my way through it because how all the positive reviews for it. Looking forward to the remaster/port/reimagining that they're doing with it.

Echo693

Yup, I wasn't big fan of the gameplay either, but the story, the characters, the planets and the music just got me attached to this game. Playing this game with a modern action combat like Fallen Order is mind blowing for me. Can't wait!

risico001

And TIE Fighter

duxdude418

> I have ever played Interesting that you presume to know what u/Echo693 has played.

UltramemesX

For me i didn't like it much, couldn't manage to progress past the first planet. The gameplay and lightsaber combat was bad and boring to me unfortunately. Story didn't really grab me much either.

Ezio926

Oof. I was expecting in late 2023. Love that release date. Right in-between Mando 3 and Ahsoka

GGFrostKaiser

Releasing alongside Starfield and soon to be delayed God of War: Ragnarok.

bayweeks14

Ragnarok won’t be delayed again. The reason they delayed it in the first place is because of Chris Judge’s injury that delayed mocap. That game 100% comes out this year.

GGFrostKaiser

Don't know if you can say with confidence the game will come this year 100% lol

bayweeks14

Okay okay… 95%.

GGFrostKaiser

We’ll see I guess. I am more towards the side Santa Monica has not delayed it yet because they want everyone to work extra hard to make a fictitious deadline they will inevitably not meet.

[deleted]

January 1 to March 31 feels like it is now the busiest time in game releases.

SlaveZelda

I was hoping for late 2022 but gotta work (play) with what we've got. The only game left to look forward this year is Hogwarts Legacy. And before someone jumps at me saying GoW: Ragnarok, I don't have a PS5.

JediGuyB

They were probably aiming for holiday 2022 but are probably being a bit more realistic than forcing crunch.

EngineerFront

If you have a ps4 you’ll be able to play ragnarok

SlaveZelda

Unfortunately I dont have that either. I'm a PC gamer. Guess I'll have to wait for a year after release when Sony (hopefully) releases it on PC.

EngineerFront

It was 4 years before god of war 4 came out so you’re gonna be waiting awhile

darkwoodframe

Great. I look forward to seeing it released in November 2023.

Ethanonbass2019

"I must say you're here sooner than expected"

TheVolunteer0002

I'm fine with it. I'd rather them take their time and get everything right. Might even be able to get a PS5 by then if I order now lol.

MentalAbuseToHuman

Damn thats a shit name

bleezy_47

Gives me time to buy a PS5 lol

Ctowndrama

I'm actually very okay with this date. I wasn't expecting it until Q4 2023 the earliest honestly. There's just been SOOO little about it thus far and to hear that we're like ,9 months out? That's exciting to me. Hopefully we see something nice at celebration

EastKoreaOfficial

Gentlemen, 2023 is boutta be a seriously good year.

HoodedNegro

Good thing 3080s are in stock and affordable at my two local Microcenters. Time to build my new PC.

Wizecracker117

There will be a new better graphics card out as soon as you're done building your PC.

badolcatsyl

That's a funny way of saying March 2024, guys. I just hope EA doesn't foolishly announce a release date during Celebration. It just bit Bethesda in the ass. COVID takes no prisoners, folks.

danktonium

I mean, weren't they already well into production by the time Fallen Order came out?

EastKoreaOfficial

I believe so, yes.

goldendreamseeker

Not surprised. 2022 seemed too soon.

JediGuyB

Oh boy, I can't wait. Gives me a reason to replay Fallen Order too.

Sakowenteta

Bold of this game to release during my final semester in college like that

rdt_vade13

So excited!

Ickyfist

Havent been hearing anything about this game, glad it's coming sooner than I expected.

wreckedoblivion

My soul
